EmWah FuzzylilPenguin You speak english fine, and have the coolest friken accent! I have a question, do people from new zeland have a different accent then people from australia, my friend said that they did but I thought I would ask you! ninja Yup, they sure do. It's really just the pronounciation of the vowels that's different. Like... they say fush and chups instead of fish and chips xp surprised eek crying Stop teasing! Nah just kidding...But I do say fish and chips like a kiwi. I still can't figure out why! I don't even know any kiwis and I've been informed that I sound like a kiwi from the south island. sweatdrop

FuzzylilPenguin I have a canadian friend who I always tell that he has a cool accent, I've only heard one though, I never thought I had an accent but I guess I do have one to people that do have one eh? My bf had told me that people from new zeland talk way diff then aussies. I just though I would ask cause I personaly like the australian accent, everyone at school wonders how I know weather its australian or british, its not all that heard to tell , you just have to listen carefully. Another question just cause- What is your fav candy and food? And whats your favorite American food/ candy?umm another question ... lets see Do you have different names for all the sports and dance/cheer teams? or is that all the same as it is here?I have alot of questions sorry I am a curious gal razz Yes the accents are different, just like the kiwi accents are different. Northern kiwis have different accents to southern kiwis. And like I've said before, I've been told I sound like a kiwi from the south. Don't have a fav candy. Like EmWah said, Cadbury is the best chocolate...and I like some of that swiss chocolate 3nodding . Anything with caramel in it is good stuff whee As for fav food, I don't really have one. I like foods from all over the world. Hot stuff, mild stuff etc. The only cheer teams we have are the girls that shake their arses at the weekend footy. Rugby that is. We don't have highschool teams or anything like that. But most people here, and I'm not speaking for everyone in this guild, just what some of my mates have said to me and I've agreed, that cheering at football matches are degrading. Feel free to flame if you disagree heart

EmWah WellzY American Idol is back on again? Your contestants are always better than ours... Mostly anyway. OMG did you know the auditions are coming to Albury this year?! They reckon they've run out of talent in the capital cities xd Haha dare me to try out? I've been trying to get some of my friends to... but no one is enough of a dickhead to actually do it. Omg yes, and you have to take Jem with you.
I can picture both of you infront of the judges. xd

WellzY EmWah I'd have to be pretty drunk. I want to throw a fake boob at their heads. Awesome. I'm sure you'd get on TV just for that. 3nodding
Yeah, might get charged with assault too. I got a fake boob thrown at my head once. It bloody hurt. I had this boob shaped red mark on my face for the rest of the day.
Ahahahaha good times in year 12 business studies.

JewelsSparkle Lol, if you're only going for a week, Canberra's great. Any longer & you'll have done everything & will be thoroughly bored out of your brains.
It's not "country-ish", it's just small. Like a miniature city. It's very cute & pretty & full of trees & flowers (especially if you go during September - October when Florade is on), but it's small. A 40 min drive will literally get you from one end of Canberra to the other.
I've had loads of people who've been to both Canberra & Melbourne say that they're almost exactly the same, just Melbourne is bigger & Canberra is smaller.
Speaking from experience, that's pretty much right... Canberra has more trees & flowers & a building full of politicians, but hey, they stole it from Melbourne, because Melb had it first. Otherwise, very much the same... Lol... they even have the same people....
Canberra isn't that small. It takes about the 30 - 40 minute mark getting left to right of Canberra, but that's the SHORT part, if you go lengthways it takes a lot longer than that.
It's only small in comparison to large cities like Sydney and Melbourne, but by no means is it 'small'.
Also.. another thing people get wrong.. it's not full of politicians. A lot only come in for the meetings at parliment (heck Howard doesn't even live here). Not to mention, the only times I've seen any politicians is at election times or on the extremely rare occation one decides to show they care about the place. wink
Floriade.. Augh. Waste of time. It used to be beautiful, they stopped putting much effort into that a few years back (around the time they were trying to charge people for it). There's better places to go than that anyway!
I admit that it's a smaller place, but not small. xd
(Random fact, Canberra is Australia's erotica capital.. er.... so never say you work in Fyshwick. 3nodding )
Of course, that's just my 2 cents on it.
One of the few bad things I can say about this place (which I say with sad honesty)...
Driving. Most Canberran's can't drive for bananas. They can't park or can't use indicators.. no good at roundabouts either, (local shopping centre they stop dead in the middle of it to go to the underground.. yay for 10 minute waits for a roundabout!).
Someone come and teach people to drive properly here? xd

Dreamar Canberra isn't that small. It takes about the 30 - 40 minute mark getting left to right of Canberra, but that's the SHORT part, if you go lengthways it takes a lot longer than that.
I dunno about lengthways or sideways eek , I was talking about the time it takes to get from Gungahlin to Tuggers... 40mins... much longer on buses though... especially Gungahlin buses... God, those buses are horrible! They go in tiny little circles & gah *shudders* so glad I don't have to ride those anymore.
Dreamar It's only small in comparison to large cities like Sydney and Melbourne, but by no means is it 'small'.
In comparison to Batemans Bay or Wagga, yes it's big, but those are towns. Canberra calls itself a city & as a city, it's tiny.
Dreamar Also.. another thing people get wrong.. it's not full of politicians. I never said that, I said there was a building full of them.
Dreamar Floriade.. Augh. Waste of time. It used to be beautiful, they stopped putting much effort into that a few years back (around the time they were trying to charge people for it). There's better places to go than that anyway! xd Totally, but still, there's not too many places around Aus where you can go & just see massive amounts of flowers (excluding florists). Where would you say is better?
Dreamar I admit that it's a smaller place, but not small. xd If it's smaller than every other city in the country... it's small blaugh
Dreamar Random fact, Canberra is Australia's erotica capital.. er.... so never say you work in Fyshwick. 3nodding ) Porn & Fireworks 3nodding I once had a manager who went to get some shelving from a factory in Fyshwick... he told everyone that he was going shopping in Fyshwick & would be back that afternoon... & he didn't get what was so funny! rofl
Dreamar Someone come and teach people to drive properly here? xd The problem isn't the drivers (mostly) it's the fact that everything is made up of circles... it looks terribly pretty on a map, but it isn't exactly practical. Drivers in the bigger cities are far worse.... But then, people are bad drivers everywhere... big cities just have more of them.

I refuse to admit small/tininess! ACT Pride! crying
JewelsSparkle I never said that, I said there was a building full of them.
I know, that wasn't specifically directed at your comment. A lot of people assume we see them around all the time that's all. ^_^
JewelsSparkle xd Totally, but still, there's not too many places around Aus where you can go & just see massive amounts of flowers (excluding florists). Where would you say is better?
Hm.. I don't think there really is, not for the array of variety. Then again I haven't bothered with it in years!
JewelsSparkle Porn & Fireworks 3nodding I once had a manager who went to get some shelving from a factory in Fyshwick... he told everyone that he was going shopping in Fyshwick & would be back that afternoon... & he didn't get what was so funny! rofl
Yeah I know! It seems to be a thing most people don't get to understand for a while.
I used to work in Fyshwick, nothing bad of course, it was at an magazine. Of course when people asked the location of my work, it got a little messed up if people only heard the place, not what I did!
JewelsSparkle The problem isn't the drivers (mostly) it's the fact that everything is made up of circles... it looks terribly pretty on a map, but it isn't exactly practical. Drivers in the bigger cities are far worse.... But then, people are bad drivers everywhere... big cities just have more of them.
Have you seen Canberrans trying to merge? about 70-80% feel the need to slow down from 80km to about 5 to merge.. xd
