I think past submissions can't be over looked, nor should they necessarily save someone. I think just because she's had such a strong run this entire competition doesn't mean Dante can't be eliminated this round, but her submission was not the weakest one for me. That paired with her history makes me really hesitant to eliminate her. Last round Amber's submission did end up being the weakest to all of us, and while she's had some great weeks, it wasn't like it was her first down week either. Her submission was also significantly weaker than the others, which made things difficult.
Dante's submission is not significantly weaker than the others this week. And there have been other weeks where we haven't sent the lowest score home based on discussions and looking at their body of work and whatever else we've looked at, so to say we shouldn't look at those things now seems out of place.
Over all this round everyone was more disappointing than I thought they would be. In the final five I would expect to see more than one score of 8. But honestly they were more fitting with scores of 7 or below. So honestly I think the argument could be made for almost anyone this week.
Personally my vote to eliminate would be for HC or Amber. I felt like their submissions were some of the hardest to see between HC's background eating her model rather than emphasizing her and Amber covering up her own model in an unsavory way.

I didn't notice the belt the first time I looked at the submission either, but when I went to work on the judging it was like this beacon, haha. Especially since at this stage I'm really looking for any imperfections, because that's what it will come down to in the eliminations.
Thank you! They're some great legs. heart

Quote: 72 - Alesaan 70 - elphiethesane 65 - AmberEmma 58 - HCTotorro 55 - Dante Dolly Those are the final numbers. Totorro only scored 3 points higher than Dante and although I love a handful of Totorro's past designs, Dante is a stronger designer.
Based on that, I would say Totorro is my vote to go home, I suppose. Alesaan's outfit was my favourite, so I would support her for the win. However, Elphie's numbers are close. It wasn't my favourite look, but if you two want Elphie, I'll support it. And Wolf, I do agree that a body of work shouldn't be the end all for a panel. But like you said, when the numbers are close, it can go either way based on a number of factors. Like here, Dante is in last place by 3 measly points but the body of work is much stronger than Totorro's.

With the final numbers, I would vote Totorro to go home. While I think Alesaan's look was a bit stronger than elphie's - or was at the very least less problemtatic for me personally - she did use make up when she knew that was something we didn't like to see. Depending on how harsh we want to be about that, I could see it costing her the win, and handing the win over to elphie. Because while the brows she used were also a different trait and....awful....I don't think they were as intentionally going against the standard as Alesaan's make up was.

Okay, well with the 2/3 vote, we do have our winner and loser picked out and I will send out the announcement shortly.
Dante's hands are kinda tied at this point and we need to be impressed next round, for sure.

Challenge 11: Everybody Can Can
Dante Dolly (Melissa) Score: 8 Comments: I had hoped that the contestants would take their time with this, being the last challenge, but Dante just had to post the first day! That being said, I am not surprised, nor do I mind. The look is clearly burlesque!! The arm and leg mods are phenomenal and the black/white/pink is very fitting. The use of feathers is adorable and sexy all at once! The only problem I really have is with the purple on the head. Purple is definitely a colour that works with the theme, but it's not shown anywhere else in the design.
Alesaan (Sarah) Score: 7 Comments: I'll admit that the first thing I noticed was that the same background was used for Alesaan's submission that was used for Dante's. Although I didn't like the copycat vibe at first, the description saved her from losing marks. The scene is quite important and the raspberry does stand out beautifully against the blue of the background. I would have liked to see a bit more raspberry colour and less white, though. Additionally, a veil might have worked well here as Sarah's forehead is a fivehead ... or a sixhead. She got a big ol' head ...
AmberEmma (Wanda) Score: 5.5 Comments: The red of the curtains in the back work with Wanda's skin perfectly. The gold accents in the garment are also beautiful and reminiscent of her win for the 7 Deadly Sins look. However, the pink was not a strong colour to pick and I would much rather have seen more gold and red. This look also reads as a bit gimmicky with the wings and stuff. Burlesque is already a gimmick without needing to add items to push a metaphorical message.
elphiethesane (Helen) Score: 7.5 Comments: Despite the fact that Elphie only started working with Helen halfway through the competition, she understands Helen's strengths and weaknesses more than her previous model. Hiding Helen's expressions was a bold, but understandable move. However, I don't find the colours to be very burlesque - pink would have worked well with Helen here. Also, the dress is so calming and understated rather than the flamboyant nature of the theme. That being said, marks were lost in Subject. Ignoring the theme, the design is beautiful, so there were higher marks in style.

Dante Dolly (Melissa) Score: 8 Comments: pros: this is kind of the only submission that fits the theme AND executes it well so... points for that. i like the pose and the legmod is really good, what even is that?
cons: the confetti was a nice touch but the hot pink of it is weirdly distracting, there's plenty of confetti items that would have matched this well. astra pink heart confetti comes to mind. i kind of wish you would have gone for an all-black/pink look instead of the white parts because it washes melissa's hair out and makes her hard to tell apart from the fan... thing on the back of her head. could have used different pasties but that's just me
Alesaan (Sarah) Score: 6 Comments: pros: LOVE the colors on sarah, really striking and suit her well. the headdress is a great touch and i'd like to have actually seen more stuff on the head
cons: looks more like an opera singer rather than a burlesque dancer, no matter how much titty you show with the legacy cutter that big fluffy skirt doesn't say 'i'm going to rip this off in 30 seconds', it says 'i'm about to launch into the second act of carmen'. earrings don't match, should have used gold ones
AmberEmma (Wanda) Score: 5 Comments: pros: concept really good, like the inspiration
cons: pose is boring. i want more dynamism. the see through wings are distracting. when i think burlesque wings i think huge fluffy things. the wings and the skirt and the cage make it look cluttered
elphiethesane (Helen) Score: 7 Comments: prose: elphiethesane stop killing me with beautiful designs for helen challenge!!! the colors flow together so well and look so good on helen and i would give this such a high score but...
cons: it's not burlesque. and i can't in good conscience call is burlesque. it's a beautiful image that evokes a sense of a performer, but not a burlesque performer. this would do wonders in a 20's theme or a bar singer theme or something. not having a background kinda hurt you here

Dante Dolly (Melissa) Score: 9 Comments: The purple of the forehead jewels kills me when there isn't purple anywhere else. But that's my only real issue for the initial reaction. It definitely says burlesque to me though. The more I look at this, especially as other submissions have come in, the more I love it. I love the pose, and I love how everything about it says burlesque. It's the most dynamic of the submissions and you can clearly tell that Melissa just finished her routine and slayed it. I just can't stand the damn purple.
Alesaan (Sarah) Score: 6 Comments: I had high hopes for what Sarah would end up in, and saw a lot of potential. This feels almost more flamenco dancer than burlesque to me. Maybe a flamenco themed burlesque show. I love the berry color, but I don't like where it's placed, especially with the white. As pale as Sarah is the white just...blends too much. And with all the white on her core and shoulders and mostly bare head, it just kind of creates a void. Especially since Sarah is off center, just seems like there's a lot of empty space.
AmberEmma (Wanda) Score: 3 Comments: I don't like it. I love love love the idea, but I think it's hitting us over the head a bit too much. The earrings are all wrong size and color, they're distracting. Wings were a bad decision, there are better wings. I think as dramatic as burlesque is, she could have used some big white or golden wings, something striking and it would make so much more sense than the pink ones that just kind of end up looking all wrong. And is there a sheer over skirt being worn or is it just odd shading? Either way, don't really like it. I also think the red curtain just doesn't benefit the pinks at all. Great idea. Too literal and nothing wow about it. Not burlesque enough.
elphiethesane (Helen) Score: 7.5 Comments: The coyness and the head piece (anyone know what that item is?) say burlesque to me. I like the fan and the thought process to use the fan to hide the expression and make Helen more burlesque, I think it was a good move. The color scheme does look good on Helen. But I wish there was something more dynamic about the pose? Something more with her arm that's holding the skirt, also might have liked to see something to make the moon look like it was on a stage? Some kind of strings or...something. I just wish it said burlesque more.

I was worried that Dante wouldn't step it up after last task's low average, and as a standalone, it was alright, but nothing brilliant. However, as the other submissions came in, it looked better and better marked on a curve. It's not Dante's best compared to her other works, but it sure is best of these submissions. I say we give her a fourth win.
Amber missed the mark for me. I swear if she would have used gold to her advantage, she could have had my vote for the finals.
Alesaan and Elphie are on par for me. Alesaan did the challenge, but made a few errors, Elphie didn't do the challenge, but presented us with something beautiful. I'd say they would get the other finalist spots. Working on their own clothing line, they'll get their own theme, so hopefully we avoid the issues that came up in this task.

It honestly makes me sad seeing Elphie submit such a beautiful avatar that just doesn’t fit the challenge for me. But I do think she and Dante deserve solid spots in the finals, and that Dante deserves the win this week. Her’s was the most burlesque.
Alesaan and Amber have both had some great weeks and some horrible ones, and while neither submission was outstanding this week, I do think Alesaan’s was stronger so she has my vote for final three. I’m sure Amber could make a great fashion line, do well in the final three, but her submissions have felt like they’re getting weaker where as Alesaan seems to be getting stronger.

For the finals, please set up your post similar to what I have, where each outfit can be defined by its own score. The outfits should be judged individually by the following criteria:
Style, Creativity and Relevance
When submitting your comments on their clothing line, please organize them and put them into easily read paragraphs divided into these three sections:
Cycle Model, Other Models, Description/Other There's no need for a 'Subject Matter' because they are creating their own theme. Instead, we are judging whether each individual design ties into the line they're showcasing.
We are still judging their description, but not individually. Their description score is a standalone that will represent our feelings about how they spoke about their entire clothing line. Quote: Designer: The_Slytherin_Goddess Clothing Line: The End of an EraCycle Model: 9 Model 1: 8.5 Model 2: 10 Model 3: 8 Model 4: 8.5 Description: 10 Their cycle model really made a statement with her garment and although it wasn't my favourite of the clothing line, it was easily a close second and an obvious choice for Cycle Model to wear ...
She understood the other models fairly well, despite never working with any of them. I was especially impressed with Model 2, who wore my favourite outfit in the line. Model 3 is a hard model to dress so it stands to reason that it was my least favourite look, but that being said, it was still fairly impressive ...
I appreciated the theme she chose as it was an underlying style in most of her looks this cycle - it just suits this designer! Plus, every model nailed the look. The description was fantastic and really brought everything together for me. It was a beautiful end to a successful journey ...
