Columns of tanks were pierced by beams of various kinds of energy, others assaulted from the sky by draconian forces, some sliced and shocked from afar, several simply melted or burned, even more were sent soaring through the air or blown up on the spot and a good few physically destroyed the old fashioned way with raw force. A few were mercifully incapacitated by various means, though not many were shown such restraint. Operators and soldiers were spiritual destroyed by specters, drained of their life by nature, or ruthlessly tossed away into the sky. To cap off the slaughter and finish off any that might remain before their boost ended the Cold One himself with send crashing down upon the invading masses a Sheer Cold like no other, one that reaches Absolute Zero temperatures, the explosive wave of pure cold freezing solid any that might still fight, creating a strip of pure frozen arctic between Black City and White Forest.

As the chilling winds made their final graces and all settled the Snagems were find the entirety of the invading forces destroyed, nothing left but a frozen wastelands of destruction and the rubble of hundreds of destroyed tanks left behind. For years this strip of land would be scarred by this battle, however it would one day be proven to be a small price. While the Snagems would feel their increased strengths fade away and exhaustion kick in a soothing wave of pink energy would wash over them all thanks to Ulla and while they may not feel as hopped up and confident as they did with the earlier boost they received the Snagems were feel their weariness disappear, all them turning to normal and healthy for the most part. Too bad the invading Flare forces can't say the same.

-----

"They did it. It worked." Sub said to himself, exhausted as he took the helmet off and leaned back on the ground, stretching his legs out and propping himself with his arms behind him. Looking down at the chest of the suit where the meteorite should be implanted the Snagem leader eyed the cocoon that had formed around it to seal Deoxys away once again. He had prepared for the moment when his own strengths would leave him and Deoxys would find a moment of vulnerability and had the suit fitted with a fail safe. Should his own Channeling cease the suit would encapsulate the meteorite in the same material the suit was made of; Yveltal's cocoon. If Deoxys thought that ebonite box he had been in for years was bad this was even more hopeless to escape from.

While pleased that he was able to pull this feat off and stop Flare, for now, and save his friends part of him felt disgusted in himself and what he did. Was it because he had used a space virus that had tried to kill them away and take over man and Pokemon kind years ago? No, it wasn't that, he was not above using unconventional means or the tools of his enemies to win, that was just how war worked. It was something else that bothered him; himself and his abilities. When establishing a Channel bond with each individual person and bond, using their SNAGs as focal points, he realized the extent of the power he had over them. Granted without Deoxys he would have never had the 'juice', so to speak, to fuel such a large scale operation nor go as deep as he did into the very souls of the Snagems to empower them but the fact that he could do such a thing, that he did, troubled him greatly. What if anyone else possessed this kind of ability? Someone who was more maleficent? What horrors could they commit with the ability to manipulate and take control of the hearts of others? It was an awful power, something that should not exist.

Sub would have no more time to contemplate what he did and what he was capable of as his SNAG chimed and GRAY began to speak up.

"Reinforcements have arrived and so has he." He informed Sub, who was already rising up to his feet, slowly and wearily but sure enough. "Lysandre surely won't allow us this victory, not this easily. You've cornered him now, he has no other choice-"

"I know. That was the idea. It's why I wanted him here as well." Sub said, cutting off GRAY as he headed towards the elevator. He had a man to talk to about a cat.

-----

For a good twenty minutes or so the Snagems would be allowed time to recoup and think about what just happened, an ominous silence and stillness creeping over the city during their moment of peace. During this time Rocket grunts would begin to show up, entering the city from the north, carried in by trucks or flow in by their bats. While late to the party the Rocket grunts would begin to secure the city's perimeter now that the fighting had stopped, platoons of grunts stationed in every corner of the city and upon several rooftops. Clearly this battle was not yet over, at least Team Rocket didn't expect it to be just yet.

And over it was not as the Snagems would find out as swarms of Pidgey, Starly, and other Pokemon fled White Forest, the woods voluntarily draining its life. Not even the waves of tanks and the ensuing battle caused such a massive flight of Pokemon so what could have this time? This question would not go unanswered for long as miles away and yet still big enough to see from Black City, a massive creature materialized from a shapeless mass of green energy, the reptilian creature stretching and beginning its trek through the forest and towards Black City. No one had to be told who or what the creature was, as the entire world was now very familiar with the Zygarde, the Order Pokemon.

At this moment in west Unova the remaining tank divisions under Flare would begin their second attempt to take Nimbasa City as major fighting between Flare and the Indigo Alliance resumed over Charizard Bridge. To the south Castelia City would be plunged into chaos as Neo Plasma, working alongside Flare forces, infiltrated the city and had now revealed themselves to instigate gorilla warfare within the city while Aqua launched a naval barrage against the city's ports, the Indigo Alliance caught with their pants down and now doing their best to try and fight back. With the happenings in west and south Unova the alliance was completely occupied, there would be no assistance from them in Black City. GRAY would alert the Snagems to this.

It was now clear that Lysandre had decided to put all his cards on the table. He was done playing, between his set backs in Nimbasa the first time, the public and successful attack on his legend in Virbank, the sabotaging by Snagem in his homeland, his forces denied their Pokemon, and now the clean invasion and surprise capture of Black City denied to him the leader of Team Flare and Prime Minister of Kalos was done playing games. With Zygarde rearing its head again it was all or nothing.

Preceding Zygarde's slow but sure advance came a wave of soldiers through the forest, a mix of Flare, Neo Plasma, Aqua and even some new faces in the form of Galactic grunts, no tanks this time however. While his forces were severely softened and his Pokemon inventory diminished this would not stop Lysandre as he called upon his allies to join him in his Hail Mary on Black City. The Rocket grunts would rush to the front lines in the south to meet these invaders despite being outnumbered. Their numbers would soon look slightly more favorable however as red vans and trucks rushed into the city from the north to unload Magma grunts to join the Rocket grunts. The reinforcements would not stop there as more trucks came through from the west, these unloading the grunts of the original Team Plasma, prepared to meet their 'cousins' in battle. With the Battle for Black City reaching its final phase it was a war of teams with Snagem, Rocket, Magma, and Plasma on one side and Flare, Neo Plasma, Aqua, and Galactic on the other. The victor would claim Black City as their prize and thus the weapon which slumbered inside of it.

(Time to battle! Take on, and write out a battle with, at least one grunt of any team with any amount of Pokemon. I will grade battles right after and depending on how many grunts/Pokemon you battle will determine the amount of Evo/Purification/Happiness points your Pokemon receive as well as a bonus reward of Snag Coins. Note at the end of the team mission I'll be giving away a special prize for the Snagem that went all out in this mission, based on their creativity and quality of their posts. You may also snag any Pokemon you want, between all these teams it's possible to capture almost any non-legend Pokemon. Show me what you got.)

While the traditional 'battle' portion of the fight commenced most of the Snagems would not realize who all was responsible for the arrival of their reinforcements. In Undella Bay there was a very ancient ship docked, one that looked like it had no business floating and yet it did. Coming from Hoenn it carried over more Magma grunts than you could imagine and its captain was responsible for hiding the other smaller ships that were responsible for carrying the remainder of the Magma grunts as they sailed through enemy waters. Now the ship's captain was in Black City himself, joining the fight personally as four Aqua grunts dared challenge the Water Master with their Pokemon, the hybrid choosing not to engage them with his own Pokemon as he instead utilize his own powers. They would rue the day they confronted him with his element.

The arrival of the Plasma grunts was made possible by a group of five out of six of a infamous group of brothers. The five sextuplets, sans one of a blue hue, had dispersed through out the major cities of Unova to gather together the original Team Plasma, pleading them to come out of retirement. While Team Plasma was never particularly competent, nor were the Hexagon Brothers, but they lacked in competence they made up for it in tenacity and drive to achieve their goals, which they rarely did. The brothers were successful in gathering these forces after tracking down the former 'king' of Plasma, the green haired man agreeing to assist the brothers from Orre and march his forces into Black City. Now as N and his grunts fought his father's forces the Hexagon Brothers too fought, each of them for once fighting without the corrupt influence of Cipher technology and relying solely on their Pokemon. No Shadow Pokemon this time. They fought with the hope that at the end of all this they would get the sixth member of their 'group' back. Despite Blusix's betrayal they still were brothers.

((Volunteers for first post))

As the feeling faded away, Rhyme took a breath, Aria and Zwei returning again near her. She knew her heart sank, seeing the destruction, but from what she was concerned many of the pokemon were safe and that was what had mattered. She gives Zwei a high-five, the Lillipup hybrid soon snuggling into the soft fluff of the Atlaria’s neckruff, said pokemon reverting back to its normal state.

Rhyme listened to the quiet in the air around the two of them as easily as she did the electric around her body, crackling off into silence. The Altaria advances, face in hers, eyes locked on hers, and Rhyme looks up to her Pokemon, affectionately running her hands atop its head and down its neck. “Thank you...you did wonderful.” She murmurs softly, cheek to cheek with it shortly after.

For her, for them, this was a victory. They’d stopped the tanks, but she felt that it wasn’t over yet. Zwei seemed to agree with her, tapping her shoulder. “So...what happens now?” He asks, fluffy face blinking slowly in her direction. Rhyme takes a breath, unsure of how to answer him, but it seems that someone else has that idea in mind.

“We continue fighting.” The unfamiliar voice causes both Hybrids to turn their heads towards the voice, seeing dark uniformed men and women step up around them. “They aren’t done yet, and neither are we. It’s here and now we have to stand. I mean, I enjoy a good run through every now and again but this...this is too far.” A Rocket told the two children, looking from them to their Pokemon and out at the damage. “Though, uh...looks like you guys did a good number on them though. Didn’t realize Hybrids could actually do that--”

“Of course they can; they’re Hybrids. Its what they do.” Magma grunt and Plasma grunt step out and join the small group, and Rhyme peers out into the distance, fingering the stone in her pocket.

You feel that too, don’t you. You know as well as I that the fight is far from over, little Squirrel.

She looked down towards her pocket, mentally agreeing with the Legendary. Zekrom had known many things, and to listen to him was a good wisdom she granted herself. The others seem so determined and confident...RC had too, going Mega and delivering just as good of a blast as Blizz had.

And she...and Zwei, too...they did their part. Zwei was trying to raise morale of the trainers around them, allowing them to pet his head and observe his features, answering what questions he could to distract from the unease that crawled up his spine.

And there it was, the hordes of Pidgey and Starly leaving, and all the group looks up and watches. “Zwei, help them! I need to get a better vantage.” Rhyme calls, pushing backwards and hefting herself up the side of one of the undamaged buildings using the fire escape, scampering on all fours to gain a better look.

“What do you see!?” He calls out to her when she gets into position, ears twitching and expression neutral, staring out across the trees.

“Zwei….take out your Pokemon. Get ready. They’re coming! Defend the city!” She answers back, eyes widening at the sight of the massive creature. One whose presence hits home for her in far too much of a coincidence.

Months earlier, doing an exploration for Snagem with Steele’s assistants Hansel and Gretel, Rhyme had uncovered something far greater than a Zapdos Heart. In fact, it was this discovery, affectionately named Zac by the team, who had found her communicator and saved her life from being reduced to an experiment. That was before Aile had turned on them and took Zac away, but she’d learned about what he actually was; a Core. A core….for the creature that loomed above the trees, heading their way.

….How did they bring Order to their side?

“...What?” She blinks, pulling out the stone, tracing its edges and the voice continues in their head.

What you see before you, little Squirrel, is Zygarde, known as the one of Order….and one that seems it can be ordered. I feel….that you have met this Pokemon before.

“Not him, Zekrom….we met one of the Cores, trying to locate a Zapdos heart. It was….that core, who’d saved me. We’d...tried to keep him safe…”

He was taken from you....and is now used against you.

Her hands tighten around the stone, a small pulse of energy from it collecting her attention back to him.

“I can’t let them get away with it. Zygarde should be able to decide its own order...not be forced to pick a side and fight against the other. It keeps balance like you do.”

Your ideal situation is to keep the balance of our world, isn’t it? How...noble of you.

She stands on her balcony view, watching the trainers advance from the opposite side, it felt like….

Sides. Heh. Made this seem more like a coin of sorts, didn’t it? She whistled, pulled Altaria from resting near Zwei and climbed on the fluffy back, contemplating her next move.

~.~
Zwei? Zwei was pumped. All of his Pokemon were out, the dog team staring down the enemy alongside his newest friends, the Trainers, and their pokemon. The other team stared them down for the briefest of moments before their Pokemon went charging, and Zwei howled, running along with his pack. The combat was loud, and noisy, and chaotic, moves flying left and right as Trainers banded up and supported their teams. Zwei ended up staring down the nose of a Flare trainer whose Arcanine growled menacingly at him and his team.

“Ruby! Baby doll Eyes!” He started, the Eevee hopping forwards and looking rather adorably at the opposing fire dog, who seemed to be adoring of the smaller Pokemon before he was swatted on the leg by the Trainer. “Come on, Mutt! Keep going!” The Arcanine breathed in, spitting out Flamethrower at the Snagem and his crew, who jumped nimbly out of the way just in time.

“Nice one, Ruby! Baton Pass! You know what to do, Weiss!!” The Eevee leaped up in a backflip, Glaceon swiftly coming up underneath, already chilling the air around her, utilizing the water that bounced off the Rocket’s Zubat to her right to freeze and send towards the Arcanine in a swift Ice Shard attack.

Grinning as the Arcanine took damage and staggered back with a growl, lower on health, he heard the Team Flare member yelling at the beast, and...part of him felt bad. He wanted to help...How could he?

“Zwei!! Catch!!” He looks up as a Great Ball is tossed his way from above, the Pachirisu Hybrid lending him one of her balls for the capture, knowing he needs this Pokemon for his team.

“Awesome! Thanks Rhyme!” He chirps, grinning ear to ear. “Alrighty, Missy! You’re mine!” He equips the ball to the SNAG device, spins around and lets it fly, bouncing on the Arcanines nose and sucking it inside to the shock of the Flare grunt.

Rock…
Rock….
Rock…

Ding.

The Flare grunt curses to heaven and high water as a Zorua appears, Salem pushing the ball towards her Trainer for him to pick up. “Maybe you should be nicer and then you can keep your Pokemon!” He yells, knocking out the grunt with a Headbutt and shouting to his friend above. “Rhyme! We got it down here! I’ll help these guys hold the lines. Do your thing!!

~.~

Rhyme laughed slightly when he spoke, Aria carrying her above the battle, the ever present form of Zygarde in the distance.

Little Squirrel, how badly do you want to save that Core? Zekrom asks her as her hands tighten in the fluff. “Badly, Zekrom. We have to save Zac. We have to stop Flare, stop them from abusing their powers.”

Like you saved me?

A pause. “Yes, Zekrom. Like I saved you from them in Nimbasa….kinda. You weren’t...out like he was…”

But you did save me. You haven’t tapped into my power, like many have. Why?

“Because if I’m going to ask for your power, I’ll do just that. Ask. It’d be rude of me to take without permission…” She answers simply, and the Ideal Pokemon chuckles.

A wise answer from such a young Hybrid...go, then.

She pauses, looking out towards the Zygarde. “What do you...mean, 'go'?”

A friend of yours is in trouble, one who saved your life. Repay the favor, save theirs. Get to Zygarde, as close as you can. Perhaps...then, you can ask for my help.

Rhyme takes a breath, nods, pats his stone. “Thank you, friend.”

The voice stays quiet.

How to get close enough, the swathes of color below her…

She swung herself down with Altaria, the cloud Pokemon hovering low enough for her to grab a ball. “Gaia! Carve a path through the Side!” She pulls her SNAG, opening the brief communication. “We got this, guys! Zwei’s helping hold the lines! I’m going to go rescue Zac!!”

When the enemy saw the color of the appearing pokemon, they saw who summoned it and chuckled, thinking it was small and cute…..until the light reformed to its true size. Truthful to say that the Grunts...probably did not expect a shiny Tyrannitar to appear on the side, to the right of the icy burn of the forest, roaring in anger, tail lighting up as she swung to the side and sent Pokemon and trainers staggering or falling backwards. Stunned by Screeches from the dinosaur Pokemon, Rhyme and Aria provided support for the Tyrannitar, Rhyme guiding her mount to shoot the fire of Dragon Breath closer and closer to the enemy, and soon they were pushing through as the group began to advance...right up until the end, where she encountered a duo pair of Grunts before she had space to reach Zygarde.

“Not passing!” They yelled at her, summoning an Ivysaur and Umbreon who proceeded to delay the Tyrannitar’s advance. While the Umbreons’ pursuits agitated the mighty dinosaur, the Ivysaurs grass-type attacks proved more effective, and as Rhyme landed with Aria she quickly recovered her fainted Pokemon with words of thanks, staring the Trainers down. “I’ll Pass! Get out of our way!” she spoke back, sparking with another ball on her belt in hand. “Come on, Mr. Mew!” the Pumpkaboo appeared with a pop from its ball, little cat face locked on the two.

“Aria! Sing on the Umbreon! Mr. Mew! Psychic!” The energy flew from both Pokemon and both landed, the Ivysaur staggering from being weakened by the Tyrannitar, the other...falling asleep.

Both of her Pokemon then focus, switching off on Pyschic and Peck attacks until the Ivysaur faints and is recalled. Throughout all of this...the Umbreon stays sleeping. Perfect.

Great ball then in hand, Rhyme quickly flings out the SNAG ball and pulls the Umbreon into it, the device rocking three times before dinging that it was caught.

The Trainers look frightened then, especially when they notice that a Sharpedo popped out from one of the balls and is staring at them with an evil sort of grin….and Rhyme is confused as to why they’re running before she turns, spooked by her own Pokemon!

“Noise!” She scolds, but brushes his face gently and carefully, recalling Pumpkaboo with notes of good job and so on. The Water type makes as if to Scald her, but it its the trainers behind her when she ducks, providing her cover.

The Zygarde is far larger than she expected, but takes a deep breath and lets her pokemon continue to cover her.

You got me here...what do I do? She frantically thinks to the stone, watching the Order Pokemon get closer….

….Talk to it. Call it by name. Get its attention.

She nods, takes a breath… “ZAC!!!”

Odd nearly collapsed from exhaustion after his attack came to an end, the sweet embrace of unconsciousness nearly dragging him into it’s endless black expanse. Before he could be taken completely, however, a soothing warmth took him over, restoring his energy and soothing his battered body. Ulla’s Fairy Channeling, he learned rather quickly, connecting the sensation in both his body and his heart to the feeling coming from the little girl in the sky. A weak smile crept across his face as he basked in the feeling, reflecting for a moment on the carnage he had just witnessed. The huge surge of power that had washed over the members of Team Snagem not too long ago was gone again now but what had it been? Was that Sub’s doing? And had it been his influence or Deoxys’ that had caused several members of the team to go completely overboard, himself included. There were far more fatalities on this battlefield than anyone would have ever intentionally caused under normal circumstances, after all. Maybe it was just the overwhelming nature of that power surge? He’d felt it, himself, that moment wherein he had felt as if he had tapped his own well of power to it’s fullest potential. That move he had used as well, had felt far more powerful than he had ever thought he could achieve.

While he was still recovering from the battle, however, he sensed it. A new surge of power. Only this time, it was on the enemy’s side of the battlefield. “He’s coming back.” He told himself, knowing fully well what that energy signature was. He didn’t even need to see it to know Lysandre was coming for them and he was bringing Zygarde with him.

“This needs to end. Now…” He said to himself as he finally found the strength to stand again. As he crossed the battlefield toward the oncoming enemy, he couldn’t ignore the lingering souls of some of the slain Flares and, with a few embers of Wicked Wick, he found the ones whose souls reflected their evil natures. Those souls he drew into his Odd Keystone alongside the previous ones. “I don’t like it but this war might make my training go faster than planned…” He told himself as he collected the seventh new soul in the area before forcing himself to stop. “I can’t leave them all here like this but I have to conserve my energy this time…” He reminded himself. As he drew closer to the newly advancing line, he found himself assailed by a Neo Plasma grunt.

“I haven’t seen one of your ilk around in quite a while.” Odd told the enemy as he pulled a Pokeball from his belt. Throwing it out without a word, the grunt revealed his Pokemon to be a Beeheeyem. Tossing a ball of his own into the space between them, Odd revealed his own Psychic-type, Glissando. The Drowzee stood there for a moment, looking drowsily at the Cerebral Pokemon. Odd had to admit he was just slightly surprised for a moment. He’d always thought Beeheeyem were larger but it appeared to be the same size as Glissando for the most part. “Nasty Plot.” Odd ordered after a moment.

”Hmhmhm…” Glissando laughed, his body shuddering as he anticipated something, his thoughts vocalizing and his wicked thoughts and twisted plans manifesting into the physical plane thanks to his mental powers.

“Beeheeyem, use Dark Pulse!” The Neo Plasma Grunt called out to his Pokemon.

“Glissando, dodge it!”

Glissando ducked around the incoming Dark Pulse and and, as he continued to quietly vocalize his demented thoughts, Beeheeyem received another order. “Hidden Power!” The orbs of darkness circling Beeheeyem seemed to radiate an aura of otherworldliness.

“Low Sweep!” Odd called out from behind his Drowzee. The Psychic-type looked at Odd for a moment before turning back to focus on Beeheeyem, as if calculating if Odd’s order would be a good one to follow. When Beeheeyem released the Ghost-type Hidden Power upon him, Glissando held his ground until the orbs bore down upon him and, at the last possible moment, he lashed out with one leg and slid across the ground beneath the attack, driving his foot upwards and into Beeheeyem’s knee before he flipped over and performed a surprisingly graceful somersault back to Odd’s side while the Channeler sidestepped the Cerebral Pokemon’s attack.

“Beeheeyem! Use Calm Mind.”
“Psycho Cut!” Odd called out over the Neo Plasma grunt. Glissando nodded and slashed through the air with his clawed hands, sending blades of psionic energy soaring toward Beeheeyem. The extraterrestial Pokemon didn’t seem too fazed, though, and simply remained standing motionless, calming it’s thoughts and meditating to raise its power.

“Beeheeyem, use Dark Pulse again!”

Unfortunately for Glissando, the attack was more than he could handle this time. Even with his special defense boosted by Nasty Plot, the Drowzee went down under the pressure of the Dark-type move. Recalling the Psychic-type back into his Pokeball, Odd grabbed an Ultra Ball from his waist and released Adagio once again. “Hex!”

Adagio nodded and as she glared at the Beeheeyem, the eye of truth appeared before her, staring into the Cerebral Pokemon’s mind and flooding it with the truths of itself and it’s trainer. Beeheeyem didn’t seem like it could handle the ghostly energies pouring into it and passed out.

“Bah! Elektross!” The Neo Plasma grunt exclaimed as he released his next Pokemon. “Ion Deluge!”
“Um… That’s a new move…” Odd said to himself, wondering what it would do. There was no point in trying to look it up at the moment, really. GRAY wasn’t likely to be helpful and he couldn’t read normal writing so there was no chance he could read it’s effect. When the Elektross’s body began to shine with a powerful electric field, though, he had an idea. “It affects another Pokemon’s typing, doesn’ t it?” He asked himself. “Adagio...uh… Inferno!” Adagio nodded and unleashed a massive ball of indigo flames toward the eel. Elektross panicked as the infernal orb inched it’s way closer to it and without being told to, released a powerful Zap Cannon into the heart of the blaze. The explosion triggered by the colliding attacks consumed both Pokemon but only Elektross was knocked backwards by it. The whole “levitating corporeal being” thing tended to get in the way when resisting concussive force, after all.

“Adagio, use Haze!” Odd called out, figuring that a little cover wouldn’t be a bad idea at the moment, given that their opponent both had a powerful attack at their disposal as well as a willingness to use it without orders. Adagio nodded to the order and exuded a thick cloud of black smoke from the flame inside her head, covering the area and masking her movements. From somewhere in the haze, a spray of corrosive poison shout out as the electric lamprey shot an Acid through it at it’s trainer’s order. “Adagio, track it down and use Inferno!” Odd called out, sending shadowy arms racing through the Haze in search of their victim. As soon as he was able to locate where it’s energy was coming from, he bound the beast in place with Ramses Curse about the same time Adagio tracked it down and unleashed another massive orb of indigo flames intent upon consuming the EleFish in it’s entirety.

“Troooooosssss!” The Electric-type cried out as the flames hit and Odd extracted his shadowy hands from it. It didn’t look to be done just yet, though. Bursting out of the flames consuming it with lightning coursing across it’s skin, the Elextross unleased a Discharge that consumed much of the surrounding area, surprising Odd that it had heard it’s trainer. He hadn’t over the roaring flames but then, he was also much farther away. “That wasn’t fair!” The Neo Plasma shouted from behind his scorched Pokemon as Odd defended himself from the Discharge with Guardian Halo, the lightning arcing toward him simply fading away when it hit the shield’s edge.

“You lot joined a war and expect fair fighting?! Aside from the rules of engagement, I don’t believe you’ll be finding that from us.” Odd countered despite Adagio’s smoldering form before him, sparking slightly from the residual electricity running through her form. “Adagio, it’s burnt. Use Hex and end it!” The Channeler called out to his partner. Adagio nodded and released a burst of Ghost energy that ripped the space between her and Elektross apart, unleashing the eye of truth upon her unfortunate victim. As Beeheeyem before it, the Electric-type couldn’t handle the bombardment of sinister truths upon its being and collapsed to the ground only to be recalled and replaced with a Darmanitan.

“Rollout!” The Neo Plasma called out the moment his newest Pokemon appeared. The Blazing Pokemon tucked itself into the fetal position and began to roll around with incredible speed and control over it’s direction. Sadly for Adagio, she failed to evade the attack fast enough despite Odd calling for her to use Minimize the moment the opponent’s order was given. She’d been paralyzed by that Discharge and he hadn’t noticed. Now she was unconscious.

“Damn…” Odd grunted as he recalled his partner and sent her replacement into the battle. “Treble, use Phantom Force!” He ordered the Blimp Pokemon as it appeared. The Drimblim nodded and vanished into the Otherworld for a moment. Darmanitan had been racing toward him when he disappeared but when the Fire-type’s target vanished, it spun itself out of it’s Rollout form and took a stance on all fours. Just as it stopped it’s spinning and landed, before it could really anchor itself in place or even balance itself properly, Treble roared back into existence and brought a small surge of energy directly from the Otherworld with him, slamming into Darmanitan from behind.

“Belly Drum, Darmanitan!” The desert ape nodded to it’s trainer and slapped it’s hands on it’s stomach a few times and puffed up it’s chest in a display of dominance and power, boosting it’s attack to it’s highest level. The slapping did hurt a bit, though, it realized after a moment.

“Minimize!” Odd called out, knowing he’d need to be very careful to evade the Fire-type’s attacks in the future.

“Taunt!” While Treble was attempting to reduce his overall size, Darmanitan opened it’s big mouth and started smack-talking the Ghost-type, pushing him into a rage and cutting off the attempt.

“Oh no…” Before he could even call out another attack, Odd watched in horror as Treble disappeared. “Oh no… No no no….” He muttered to himself, watching as Darmanitan took on a rather calm look for a moment, as if it were using heightened senses to detect the coming storm of spectral energy. The moment Treble reappeared and tried to attack with Phantom Force, Darmanitan received the call .

”Fire Punch!” The flaming fist from the desert ape collided with Treble and pushed back the Ghost energy of his attack, slammed through it and knocked Treble to the ground.

“I was afraid of that happening…” Odd told himself as he reached for Treble’s ball. Before he recalled the Drifblim, though, the Pokemon’s Aftermath kicked in and sent an explosive wave of energy flying toward Darmanitan. The storm of Ghost-type energy seemed to be enough to knock Darmanitan out. The Neo Plasma grunted as he recalled his fallen ape and made to turn on his heel.

“You won’t get away with this! Lysandre’s crusade can’t be stopped!” He shouted at Odd as he began to retreat.

“I’m sure it can’t.” Odd replied as he recalled Treble at last.

As Kaya descended to the earth below, he found himself assaulted by an advancing Flare. “You lot don’t give up, do you?” He asked as he stepped off his winged steed’s back and pulled a Moon Ball from his belt to recall her when the Flare released something the hybrid had yet to encounter.

“Taaaaiiil!” The glorious white kitsune cried as it emerged from it’s ball. The temperature around them dropped the very instant the fox appeared and Kaya’s eyes nearly began to glitter at the sight of it. “It’s… beautiful…” He said to himself. “Too bad I didn’t bring Raye with me. I bet she’d have some fun with you.” He told the Ice Type across from him as he recalled Tomoe and released Pluto once again. “Mirror Shot.” The flash of light emitted by the Klefki’s carefully directed body was infused with Steel energy and seemed like it really hurt the Ninetails across from them. As the Flare grunt called a counterattack, Kaya ignored him and pulled out his SNAG to do some research.

The Alolan Ninetails crumpled under the Steel-type attack at first but within a moment or two, it was back on it’s feet and firing an Aurora Beam at the Klefki’s who’d offended it. “Astonish!” Kaya directed, watching as Pluto popped through space for a moment to place himself almost directly in Ninetails’ face with a surprising shout and a cartwheel that slapped his keys into the Pokemon’s muzzle. Ninetails barked in shock and stumbled backward a few steps, tripping over one of it’s own tails in the process. The rage building inside the Ice-type was quick to show itself after it’s blunder. Kaya sensed the energy rapidly building up inside the Alolan Pokemon before a Sheer Cold was blasted toward Pluto. The unfortunate Klefki took the brunt of the attack while he was celebrating his last successful move and fainted, trapped in a thick layer of ice.

“Darien!” Kaya called out as he recalled Pluto and sent his Dunsparce into battle once more. “Drill Run!” Racing toward the fox, Darien built up speed before rolling over and thrusting his drill-tipped tail toward it while it spun wildly. The resulting construct of Ground-type energy took the form of a massive drill bit just like his tail and threatened to carve right through the dual-type vulpine Fairy.

Ninetails smirked and shot at Ice Shard at Darien. The Dunsparce’s attack shattered the icy bomb and showered the Pokemon in the ice and snow left behind but didn’t do much damage. Not that Darien had done any, either, considering that the exploding Ice Shard caused him to completely miss his target.

Ninetails charged toward Darien as soon as it could see him again and began to pummel him with strikes from it’s paws, tails and teeth with Foul Play. The attack didn’t seem to have a lot of power behind it, though.

“Defense Curl!” Kaya called out, watching as Darien coiled himself up into a tight bundle and hardened his skin against incoming attacks.

Ninetails backed up a moment when it realized it wasn’t getting to Darien and shot a Powder Snow from it’s mouth, blowing the freezing wind and snow across the reptile’s body. Darien uncoiled as the cold air chilled it. “Air Slash!” Kaya ordered, aiming to knock the fox out at last. Darien’s attack seemed to do the trick at last, knocking Ninetails to the ground again when it failed to evade it.

“Bah! Why didn’t I have more Pokemon on me?!” The Flare grunt complained to himself. “OH! This is why!” Clapping his hands together, he pulled them apart with a bow of ice forming between them. Drawing back to string and letting it loose, the Ice Channeler unleashed a frozen arrow toward Kaya.

“Gah!” Kaya exclaimed as he drew Rise and flipped his helm’s visor down at the same instant. With a quick slash, he knocked the arrow aside and watched as it’s cold spread across the ground where it landed and caused it to frost over rather heavily. And quickly.

“Of course you’d be a Channeler.” The hybrid realized as he stepped back and recalled Darien to his Moon Ball.

“Yes. Of course I would.” The Flare retorted as he walked toward Kaya, actively freezing the ground as he walked closer.

“So where’s your partner Pokemon? Or your Artifact? Aren’t those kind of a necessity for Channeling?” Kaya asked, stepping backwards carefully.

“Oh? I keep my partner hidden from the team. They wouldn’t understand the subtle beauty of frozen steel.” The Flare replied.

“Frozen steel?” Kaya asked, grabbing his SNAG and looking for something that might fit that description in it’s Pokedex function. “Oh. I see why you wouldn’t want them seeing that.” He said as he found Alolan Sandslash’s page.

“Of course not. They’d try to make me get rid of it. But it’s just such a beautiful combination, wouldn’t you say?” The Flare asked as jagged shards of ice began to swirl around them. Not quite hail but certainly not a proper storm. It was definitely dangerous, though. Kaya was noticing something about this Channeler, though. Of the abilities they’d showed off so far, only one of them was offensive. They were a defensive fighter. He wanted his enemies to think he was dangerous but mostly just made himself look more dangerous than he actually was to scare his opponents away.

“How about… No.” Kaya replied, aiming Rise at the Flare and casting a pink beam of energy at him. As the locked turned over, the man’s control over the cold and ice faltered momentarily. “This ends now!” The hybrid yelled as he rushed toward the Flare Channeler and slammed his steel-covered head into the other guy’s. It wasn’t graceful and it was certainly not a proper knightly form but it worked. The Channeler was out cold after that headbutt.

Wren came to a rolling stop after all was said and done, his confidence in himself and his abilities waning as the flower on his artifact quickly wilted, the energy infusing it and himself completely drained after that display of courage and, admittedly, skill. He didn’t get much further than standing up and dusting himself off a bit before the enemy began to approach again. He felt his energy returning, strangely enough, as he turned to face them and realized only after the enemy released an entire team of Combee and a single Vespiquen that it was due to a certain little girl and her newfound abilities that he was recovering.

“You’re really not fighting fair, you know…” The Grass Channeler told his foe as he considered his options. “Fine… I guess that leaves me very little in the way of choice here…” He groaned as he pulled the six Nest Balls from his waist and tossed them all into the air.

“Thistle, Iron Tail! Hemlock and Aconite, stand ready with Spiky Shield!” He told the first three to appear, keeping his heavy hitters and strong defenders closest. “Hyacinth, Petal Blizzard! Nutmeg, Magical Leaf! Cassava, use Fairy Wind!” The six Pokemon went right to work with the cacti forming a living wall between Wren and the rest of his team and preparing to defend the rest of the ground from attack. Thistle lashed out at the Vespiquen with Iron Tail, figuring he was the most equipped to deal with her. The three little ones hung back and threw their ranged moves at the swarm of Combee.
“Defend Order!” The Galactic called out. While this move would normally prove to only make Vespiquen more defensive, with her swarm free to obey, the quintet of Combee rushed to her aide and formed a glowing wall between her and Thistle’s attack even as Vespiquen continued to glow behind them. “Now, Attack Order!” The Combee scattered at the new ordered as Vespiquen went on the offensive, sending in a swarm of much smaller insects not unlike an Infestastion but with far more biting and stinging! The Combee didn’t just hang around, though. One rushed Hemlock with Bug Bite, one use Bug Buzz to disrupt the focus of Wren’s more inexperienced trio in the rear and one used Tailwind to make the rest of the group move faster. While they were doing so, the remaining two used String Shot in concert in an effort to tangle up Thistle and stop the Dragon from attacking again.

Hemlock’s Spiky Shield jumped to life when the Combee attacked him and jabbed at the Bug, sending it hurrying away to safety for the moment. “Thistle use Aqua Tail! Wash these bugs away!” Wren called to his Dragalge. The Dragon-type nodded and lashed out with his tail coated in swirling water. The intent? To do exactly as Wren had ordered and wash away the Attack Order before it could hit him or anyone else. He failed at getting the entire swarm of the attack but what was left dealt far less damage. Not that it was going to do a lot to begin with. In the process of defending himself with the move, though, he also managed to slap Vespiquen across it’s giant bug face.

Hyacinth’s, Nutmeg’s and Cassava’s attacks were easily swatted away by the Combee swarm due mostly to either lack of genuine power or experience or because of the type matchups working in the Bugs’ favor. “Hemlock, Aconite, keep up the defense!” Wren told his cacti upon seeing the one Combee driven back. “Hyacinth use Dazzling Gleam! Nutmeg, try a Bounce! And Cassava… Use Cotton Spore!” Hyacinth nodded and her body gave off a wild flash as flowers, stars and other “happy” things exploded from the blinding light. Amid the flash, Cassava’s body shook wildly and he scattered a large quantity of fluffy white particles into the air and Nutmeg seemed to disappear entirely.

“You’ve lost one of your minions, Snagem Boy!” The Galactic grunt taunted before looking at his Vespiquen. “Use Air Slash and command the rest of the hive to use Air Cutter!” He ordered the Bug-type.

“Don’t call me ‘Boy’, punk! I’m twice your age!” Wren snapped back as he watched the enemy’s collective of Pokemon as carefully as he could. Most of them appeared to be doing a lot of nothing for the moment but maybe it was began the buildup of white powder around their wings was slowing them all down and making it harder for them all to maneuver through the air? Vespiquen responded to her trainer’s command while Wren watched and he saw he she spoke to her Combee slaves before attacking. He also noticed one other thing. “Thistle use Protect! Everyone else, huddle close! Hemlock, Aconite, be prepared to add to the defense!” As Vespiquen and three of the Combee attacked with differing types of blades of wind, two of them simply threw Gusts at him and his Pokemon. While his team weathered the slicing gales, he watched the two who didn’t seem to be obeying the queen. And then he saw it. One of them had a red spot on the forehead of it’s bottommost face. It was a female! The other one not participating in the hive cohesion must be following that one instead of the Vespiquen! Maybe he could use that to his advantage?

Just as the winds died down, Nutmeg came crashing down from above, veiled in Flying-type energy. She crashed right into one of the Combee and, since it wasn’t expecting it, it was knocked out instantly. The Galactic grunt made an irritated noise as he recalled the Pokemon. “Vespiquen, use Struggle Bug! Everyone else use Bug Bite!” The Galactic grunt exclaimed, losing his cool and beginning to lose his faith in the queen’s ability to control her hive. Vespiquen nodded and, thrashing around just a bit, sent tendrils of Bug energy arcing out toward the nearby Grass-types. The two Combee still loyal to her followed their trainer’s order to use Bug Bit and tried to hone in on the Dragalge once more. It looked like it was the hardest one to stop at the moment, after all. The remaining two, however, looked to be staying back a bit and using Swift aimed at Hemlock and Aconite.

“Thistle, use Draco Meteor!” Wren ordered as the swarm came for him. Bundling up the Dragon-type energy and preparing to let it fly, he hesitated for only the briefest of moments when Hemlock and Aconite both conjured a green shield in front of him to block out the Swifts. The reason? The two Combee using Bug Bite ran straight into the double-layered shield and found themselves skewered rather painfully in the process with both of them dropping to the ground completely unconscious immediately. So Thistle threw his explosive meteorite of Dragon energy directly at Vespiquen. “Hyacinth, use Wish! Nutmeg, Teeter Dance! Cassava use Stun Spore!” Hyacinth nodded and released a burst of energy into the sky above her to heal herself and her friends after this was over. Nutmeg presented herself to the enemy and wobbled around in a playful, if a bit confusing dance of sorts that seemed to somewhat resemble The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies. Cassava, however, had a direct target. Wren had pointed out the female Combee when he issued his order to use Stun Spore and the Hoppip intended to hit that target. While the Cottonweed Pokemon worked on building up the neurotoxic dust, Thistle’s meteor of draconian energy slammed into Vespiquen and threw it to the ground.

“End it!” Wren called as he pulled a Nest Ball from his pocket. “Hemlock, Dynamic Punch on Vespiquen! Aconite, use Solar Beam on that Combee!” Hemlock nodded and rushed toward Vespiquen with arms aglow with Fighting energy. Aconite, on the other hand, threw her arms up and aimed the barrel-like appendages at Combee as she soaked up sunlight. Throughout the battle, Wren’s artifact seemed to have been recharged thanks to the boon from Ulla’s ability and, in the instant that Aconite used Solar Beam, the flower wilted a second time in order to pass it’s stored energy on to the Maractus. The result was a near-instantaneous Solar Beam that ripped across the battlefield and slammed into the already weakened Combee. The bright light from the beam left Vespiquen shielding her eyes and unable to defend herself properly when Hemlock approached to drive his fist into her Neopteran face. With the two attacks knocking their targets out cold, Wren let the Nest Ball loaded with Snag Machine energy fly toward the one remaining, female, Combee. The Bug was drawn in quickly and, as the Galactic Grunt cussed and swore, Wren watched the man’s Pokemon become his own.

“I’ll consider her spoils of war but if you don’t leave the battlefield now, you won’t live long enough to regret that I took her from you.” Wren warned as he retrieved the Nest Ball.

Turning towards the battlefield as he began to feel the rumbling of the massive Zygarde that had begun its advance towards Black City. Turning on his heel, Reno stared at his old friend for a moment before he simply began to stretch his arms and legs in preparation for what he was already planning on doing. If he aimed to make any sort of a dent on Lysandre or to breach through into Zac's mind, he needed Kaiden focusing purely on empowering him throughout this process. It did not help that Ezekiel was currently recuperating from his own devastation of the battlefield through the repeated abuse of Nasty Plot fueled Overheats alongside his Mega form and the rest of his Pokemon had been on the receiving end of their own share of damage. Especially Aleister, who wasn't exactly used to Reno's method of reckless attacking and energy burning. Poor Reuniclus had helped him regenerate any damage done but it had taken its toll.

But he did have a few new advantages that he had been previously lacking during his singular assault on the tanks. Glancing between Leslie, Beau, and Aria, Reno saw that many of their Pokemon had been taken out in their assault. Hell, Aria only had her Inkay due to the overexertion that the rest of her Pokemon had essentially committed to. But this was the best method he had for truly turning the tide of this battle and it wouldn't work without the aide of his friends. "Alright, guys. I know you probably want to just brawl it out with the grunts, but I need your help. We are going to do something insane." Reno told his friends, watching a collection of blank expressions greet him. ".....what?"

"All of your plans sound and are insane. So let's just skip the part where we fake being shocked and get straight to the part where you only explain our part in it." Aria shot back, a condescending eyebrow raise and smirk being the sign for Reno to actually contribute his part.

"Fine. I need you all to clear me a path forward. I am going to go talk directly to Zac." Reno told them, turning to look at the green monstrosity while the other three simply sighed in response.

Quickly getting on top of Phemes alongside Kaiden, Harleen, and Nalu, Reno took a moment to watch as Beau and Aria both boarded his Fletchinder and Leslie put her poor Fearow through the abuse of hauling her into the air. And soon they were off. trailing closely behind the similar mad rush towards Zygarde that a certain Electric hybrid had committed to. However it wouldn't take nearly as long before they began to encounter their own adversity.

As they began to attempt a low pass near a batch of Flare grunts in an effort to avoid a blast of Hyper Beam, Aria and Beau noticed that their particular mount was beginning to slowly drift off beneath them as a similar sound was slowly drawing them towards a lethargic state. Heck, why did they need to keep rushing forward anyways when this was the perfect time for a nap?

Just gonna

go

to

sleep.

Oh wait, right currently flying and might crash. Snapping out of their states, it would only take a moment for Aria to trace the noise back towards a Flare grunt with a Brionne out, aiming to knock any efforts made by the Snagems or other groups to bypass the front lines for an easy shot at Lysandre. Looking over at Beau, Aria gave a smile before simply diving off the Flying type with a loud whistle emitting from her lips. "Wait, Aria! Damnit, I was supposed to do the brave dive to sacrifice for the mission." Beau griped, watching as his friend continued her plummet towards the ground. While she quickly arrived at ground level and absorbed some of her impact by using her own boot to the back of the Brionne's head, she had needed an extra bit of force to keep from breaking her leg. That particular force had been absorbed by the Inkay currently strapped to her back and whose sudden lack of force to pull against sent it shooting into the ground near them.

While he wasn't a future seer, being a mind reader made it real easy to predict that Aria was going to be the one to do their little sabotage mission. So Reno had already sent down the aid she would need with his Alolan Raichu, who was now quickly sliding into the scene with his distinctive floaty style of movement. "So...guess its you and me, Nalu. Well, at least someone cared enough to help me out." Aria said, watching as the small squad continued their headlong flight towards the Zygarde. "Now then. Only one person gets to do singing on the battlefield and thats me." She added, turning to face the Flare grunt and his Brionne. (To be continued in another post)

Back with the assault squad, they had began to draw closer to the site where they could see Rhyme was beginning to contend with a few of the grunts in the area. Looking between Beau and Leslie, Reno gave a smile as he watched the two break off and land behind where Rhyme was currently preparing herself for whatever she had planned. They would quickly land and set to work on assaulting the few trainers who figured out that the fight had spontaneously appeared behind them, namely by preventing them from drawing Pokemon in their own unique ways. Namely, Beau continued his method of applying light cuts to the arms of those reaching for Pokeballs and added blasts of Powder to the face for those who kept up their efforts. Leslie's method was a much simpler, more direct application of force via using her secondary mouth to swing around the homemade bludgeon that her Bronzong had become after its capture. While it was certainly not what one expected when they were told a small girl was going to ring their bell, the Heavy Slams they brought on impact certainly did much of the work for changing that particular attitude.

Quietly landing himself alongside where Rhyme was staring at the black ball in her hands, Reno slowly settled himself into a crosslegged sitting position alongside his Alakazam as he waited to see if he simply needed to push forward or if Rhyme would give him something that he could use and enhance in their likely similar purposes.

Well, it didn't exactly take Reno long to get the signal of what to do. It was hard to miss given that it was a short squirrel girl screaming at the top of her lungs.

And with that, Reno let himself slip into the mechanical trance of power and machine learning that existed between Kaiden and Phemes, respectively. Putting all of the power that Kaiden was pushing into two purposes, Reno set to work on amplifying Rhyme's desperate plea to the giant creature so that it would ring loud and clear throughout the mind of whatever cell or core of Zygarde he came into contact with. While this sounded like a limited and slow process, it was enhanced incredibly through the use of Phemes' processing power to, essentially, replicate Reno's simple effort via a multitude of proxy minds to simultaneously send the message to every cell and core that he could possibly contact. And once he felt one of the minds within this multitude of a hive mind give a more energetic response to the voice of its original keeper, Reno would implement the next part of his plan. Shutting down his myriad of simple facsimiles of himself that Phemes would have created, his focus would shift to amplifying that core's mental powers throughout the Zygarde as a whole. Hopefully, this would have the intended effect of giving Zac a controlling interest in the actions of Zygarde. If not, he could at least put in a good effort at that point for convincing the legendary that this course of action was against its purposes once he recollected his own thoughts from the massive mental effort he was about to put forth.

As the tanks cleared out, I grabbed Keiko and teleported back to where Abby was standing. That would have been a bad idea a few minutes ago as Keiko's power was fueled by her anger, but I was fortunate to discover that she was winding down when I got hold of her. "Man, that was satisfying," she said under her breath, still in the process of catching it. "I'm gonna talk to Sub when we get back about helping me learn how to control my Hybrid abilities. If I can be that useful again..." she muttered, looking down at herself.

"You've got Sub to thank for being able to do that in the first place," I explained. Having temporary access to a wellspring of Psychic power came with perks. "I don't know how he did it and I don't want to know, but I can't say I blame you for wanting to be able to use that kind of power again."

"Guys..." Abby said, her attention on the Zygarde and the horde of trainers beneath it.

"How did I even do that? It had to be a move, right? I didn't even think about what I was doing, I just... I don't know."

"Frustration," I explained. "A move based on negative emotions. Likely, the power you were given manipulated your emotions so you'd get the most out of-"

"GUYS!" Abby shouted, this time pointing at the coming horde. This got our attention. While I felt anger at their continued offensive, Keiko was worried about those already fighting Lysandre's reinforcements.

"Come on," I said to both of them. "They're going to need our help." With that, the three of us boarded our hoverboards and made our way out of White Forest and back to Black City. While we headed there, I couldn't help but think about what was happening to me when I was fueled by that power. I knew Sub shared that power with everyone, and that he got it from Deoxys somehow - that bit got me considerably concerned, considering that it was Deoxys that started my feud with Reno, among other things. But the things I was able to do... just what was I capable of once I finished my training as a Channeler?

An answer to that question didn't appear in my mind, and I didn't have all day to ponder it. Eventualy, we made our way to the front lines and put away our hoverboards. Keiko and I advanced to make battle, but Abby hung back. "I need to do something real quick. I'll be back in a second." she said. Focused on the prospect of battle, we let her run off.

We didn't have much time to find out where she was going before we were accosted by enemy trainers - one wearing the uniform of an Aqua Grunt, and the other wearing the uniform of a Galactic Grunt. We didn't waste time with petty words and let our Pokemon out, The grunts letting out a Pelliper and a Purugly, respectively. I let Yuki out to handle the Pelliper while Keiko let Tyrian out. This was the first time I saw her Tyrogue, and while I was curious about something related to it, I didn't say much about it at the time.

The enemy grunts were quick to attack us, having Pelliper use Stockpile to improve its strength while the Purugly used Body Slam to try to paralyze Tyrian. I wasn't having any of that defensive crap and had Yuki use Thunderbolt to knock some sense into Pelliper. Tyrian grabbed hold of Purugly while it was in midair and used Seismic Toss to throw it back to its trainer. Realizing we were serious, Pelipper tred to change targets and use Wing Attack on Tyrian while Purugly aimed a Bite at Yuki. We weren't having any of that, either - having Yuki use Volt Tackle to run past Purugly and strike Pelliper down before it could reach Tyrian. The Tyrogue happily took this opportunity to lunge at Purugly, striking it with a Karate Chop. Our Pokemon didn't stop there, with Yuki latching on to Pelipper and Thunderbolting it into the ground while Tyrian crushed what resistance Purugly had with Brick Break.

Grunting in disapproval, the grunts recalled their Pokemon and brought another pair out - Ludicolo and Skuntank. I responded by recalling Yuki and letting Odo out, while Keiko put Tyrian away and brought out Aura, which was a risky play considering it was weak to both Water and Grass. But considering that neither of us had any Ground-types, I couldn't blame her that much. Her disadvantage was taken note of right away by the enemy who told Ludicolo to attack Amaura. Odo was quicker, striking at the Water/Grass Pokemon with Sludge Bomb and knocking it back in the resulting blast. This gave Aura the opportunity to fire Earth Power at Skuntank, who was busy trying to get Odo to stop focusing on Ludicolo by distracting it with Fury Swipes. The Earth Power struck Skuntank and knocked it back, making it's attempt to distract Odo futile. Ludicolo moved to stirke Aura again with another Razor Leaf, but Odo managed to block the attack with Protect. This proved to be a mistake, however, as Skuntank immediately used Feint on Odo, breaking his defenses and weakening him considerably. Fortunately, this gave Aura the opporunity to get at Skuntank with Bulldoze, knocking the Skuntank out. Keiko withdrew Aura so that Odo and Ludicolo could focus on each other. Before Ludicolo could call out another attack, though, Odo fired a Gunk Shot at it that knocked it out.

The grunts weren't done with their assault, however, and brought out two more Pokemon - Sharpedo and Toxicroak. I let Odo come back to his ball and we brought out two of our Pokemon to respond - Sauron and Natalia. Once again, the enemy tried to take advantage of Keiko's choice of Pokemon, but I wasn't having anything of it. After all, how was Sharpedo supposed to get close enough to Crunch Natalia when it was too busy dodging Sauron's Razor Leaves? Natalia didn't need to move at all to assault Toxicroiak with Psychic, though. But it took the hit and moved to distract Sauron with Mud Bomb. Fortunately, Toxicroak's trainer didn't realize that being half-Grass meant that Sauron wasn't weak to it, and he was able to keep Sharpedo from attacking by knocking it back with Vine Whip. Since Toxicroak was open, Natalia punished it for attacking her teammate with Psyshock. The two enemy Pokemon backed up and regrouped, then launched another offensive. Sharpedo was tired of being held up by Sauron, so it attacked him directly, going in for a Crunch while Toxicroak aimed a
Sucker Punch at Natalia. This proved to be foolish as Sauron let loose a Petal Blizzard the second Sharpedo got in range, causing it to faint, and Natalia used Tailwind, rendering Sucker Punch useless. Natalia then used her newfound speed to make Toxicroak faint with another Psychic. The two grunts we were fighting brought out their last two Pokemon at that point - Tentacruel, surprisingly, and Bronzong. We responded by letting Rala and Typho out of their balls, but...

Something was VERY off about Rala. Not only was her crystal not sticking out of her back, but she... kinda looked like me. She had golden blonde hair instead of green, and the top half of her dress was white while the bottom half was black. Not understanding what was going on, I walked up to her to get a look at her front, and noticed her crystal was not only black, but it looked like it had been bent sideways, both of the sharp ends facing forwards. I recognized this shape from looking up information on Mega Gardevoir a few weeks ago, but how did she Mega Evolve? Sub's little gift to the team was some time ago. I knew that Mega Evolved Pokemon returned to their natural state after returning to their balls, but Rala was IN her ball when that power boost was distributed. Was she somehow able to hold onto that power? Or did that power last indefintely until the Pokemon holding that power is sucked into a ball?

I didn't have a lot of time to think about it, as Rala wasn't going to wait. Before I could even back up, Rala motioned toward Tentacruel before it was flooded with Psychic-type energy, a massive Psychic assaulting it. That was far more powerful than any other time I had seen Rala use the move, and due to its weakness to that kind of energy, it didn't stand a chance - it fainted immediately. I couldn't help but wonder if Rala would have this kind of power if she had been affected by a Keystone normally. Was this a stronger form of Mega Gardevoir due to the power Sub coaxed out of Deoxys? Once again, Rala cut my train of thought off by turning to Bronzong and firing a massive Moonblast at it. Despite the raw destruction hurtled at it, Bronzong resisted Fairy-type moves, and was still standing after it had taken Rala's attack. Keiko and Typho were too afraid of Rala's power to do anything, though, the pair watching her with bewilderment in their eyes.

While Rala rushed at Bronzong with Fire Punch, I tried focusing on my mental center, trying to use that to reach her mind so I could calm her down. This was the biggest mistake that I made that day, however, as Psychic energy struck my mind, giving me a huge headache. I stopped my attempt before it could turn my brain into a puddle. Nevertheless, this had caught Rala's attention. Though Bronzong hadn't fainted from her Fire Punch, it was clearly on it's last legs, and after recalling it, the two grunts ran off as fast as they could. Meanwhile, Rala stared me down. I could barely hear her voice begging me to make it stop, so I had to assume she was in pain, but she definitely didn't look it. Rather, she looked like she was about to attack me. Fortunately, her ball's recall beam was faster, and once she was back in her ball, my headache receeded.

~*~

Absinthe walked away from the fight and got up on a hill to the side of the city. She memorized the movements of that dance that let Angela use that powerful Fire-type move, and wanted to try it again. She heard me say that Sub was the reason we had the power we used on the tanks, and wasn't sure if that applied to her since she didn't use any power, herself. Once they were in position, Abby performed the dance, and was sure she got every part of it right, but it wasn't the same. Nothing happened - she didn't feel a power leave her, nor did she see anything enter Angela. She had hoped the dance could be used by itself to accomplish something since that was the part that came to her, but no such luck. Sighing in annoyance, she sat down on the hill, watching the carnage below, as Angela sat by her side.

"Man, I really am biting off more than I can chew with this stuff, huh?" she asked herself, watching the many different battles going on below. "Guess I didn't expect to be put to the test right away. Certainly was expecting to get the chance to catch more Pokemon by now." After a moment, she shook her head at herself. She knew she was just making excuses, and that Lykas was right to not want to bring her into this. She didn't want to think about that, though. But even then, it was still better than wandering around Goldenrod with nothing to do, though.

While she was caught up in her own throughts, a Shroomish walked up to her and Angela and bumped into Abby with its head. He wasn't going to attack the human straight away, but it did have a bone to pick with her. Abby got startled by the contact, and turned to face the seemingly wild Pokemon. She calmed down a bit when she saw it, though. "Oh. Hey," she responded, not thinking much of the Shroomish. It didn't respond right away, and instead walked up to look at the carnage below. "Came to defend your homeland, huh?" Abby asked half-jokingly, not realizing that Shroomish weren't native to Unova. "Don't worry, I'm not with them. I came with some people that are trying to keep the place safe. I've only got the one Pokemon, though, so I can't really do much in a straight-up fight like that." That was when she noticed a shrunken Pokeball in its hand. It was scratched and scuffed up, but she could tell it was the real deal, not just some toy.

"Trainer abandoned you, huh? That's gotta suck," Abby sighed. This caught Angela's attention, and the Torchic looked at the stoic Shroomish, then walked up to Abby's left arm and tapped the Snag Machine with her beak before looking up at her trainer. Abby didn't miss her Pokemon's meaning. "What? You want me to catch him?" she asked, motioning to the Shroomish, who turned to face Abby when it heard her. "Well... what do ya say? Wanna join my team?" After thinking about it for a minute, the Shroomish nodded and Headbutted Angela.

"Jeez, you're eager, huh? Angie, give him a Crush Claw," she ordered. Angela leaped up and struck down at Shroomish, empowering her talon with Normal-type energy. The attack landed, knocking Shroomish back a ways, but not off the hill. Once it got back up, it lunged at Angela for another Headbutt, and actually connected. Abby wanted to say that with tactics like those, Shroomish needed a new trainer anyway, but that would have only hurt its feelings and make it not want to join her team anymore.

Still, there was the issue of her Torchic taking damage. "Try a Night Slash, this time," she offered. Angela jumped back and leaped up again, this time slashing at Shroomish with Dark-type energy. Shroomish was knocked back again, and this time was having more difficulty righting itself.

"Crap,' Abby muttered to herself, grabbing a ball from her back and setting it on her Snag Machine so it could be converted. Once the Snag Ball was ready, she threw it at the Shroomish, causing to drop its previous Pokeball. When the ball Shroomish was caught in stopped shaking, its previous ball fell apart, showing that the catch was successful.

Abby took Shroomish's ball and strapped it to her belt, then looked through her SNAG's Pokedex feature to see what Shroomish could do. She was particularly interested to see that Shroomish turned into a Fighting-type when it evolved. After a while, though, her gaze shifted to the battlefield and she put her SNAG away. "Let's go check on them." she said boredly. Angela followed her trainer down the hill.

"What was that?" Keiko asked, only then remembering to recall Typho. Before I could answer, Rala let herself out of her ball. Fortunately, she was back to normal.

"Thank you," she said, sounding relieved.

"What happened?" Keiko asked before I could.

"Deoxys infected me with something. I could feel it while I was in my ball, but it didn't start hurting until I came out.'

"I don't think infection is the right way to look at it. You had Mega Evolved. The reason it was painful is because Mega Evolution takes practice to get used to, and... well, I don't know, but I think you might have been given a bit more power than what a Keystone and a Gardevoirite would have provided," I tried to explain despite my lack of concrete evidence.

"I've never seen a Pokemon Mega Evolve before, so I can't say for certain, but your energy definitely felt scary," Keiko added.

"Sorry, Mistress," Rala offered. "Master, you really shouldn't have tried to focus on me while I was like that."

'Trust me, I regret it the second I did it," I chuckled. Before I could say anything else, Abby walked up to us.

By now, a lot of the enemy forces were being pushed back by the other Snagems. "Jeez, I missed the fight, huh?"

"I wouldn't worry about it too much," I said, looking up at Zygarde. "We still have that to take care of."

With the oncoming force now ground to a massive abrupt halt, I managed to land and took a couple of deep breaths, looking on at what I unleashed upon the area. A beautiful catastrophe that was probably not seen in seemingly ages in any region. Only noise around was the faint ice crackling from the clashing temps in the area. The sight burned a very grim picture to me; recalling what Darts and I were talking about on the rooftop of the headquarters, leaving to wonder just how did it get this far? This wasn’t a simple case of evil-doer comes around and the Snagems save the day like a bunch of superheroes. No. This…this here is the closest to hell without being in it. Too many were affected by this…too many that didn’t need to be involved in this…too many that shouldn’t have started this.

As I am left to lament for a moment, a sudden thought came over me. One that left a cold chill in me. “…Tristen…” I said, looking around. “Tristen!” I then called out. “TRISTEN!” I shouted out louder, rushing forth into the icy fields, frantically looking the Electrike hybrid. I suddenly prayed that he didn’t get caught up in the icy chaos…I got so caught up in the action, so caught up and desperate in trying to halt the advance, the collateral damage that my attack wrought…please tell me that he didn’t stay around for that after he let loose his attack on the advance. “TRISTEN!”

“Right here!” I stopped in my tracks, my instincts finally tripping. I looked over, seeing Tristen climb over various debris to get over towards me. Quickly, I rushed over and helped him over the last bit of rubble and held the boy close. “Ack, Blizz…you’re squeezing me…” Tristen squeaked out.

“Oh, sorry…are you alright?” I said, sitting the boy down on the ground.

“Yea…kinda tired though…and cold…” He said.

“I’d imagine. Between running from…well, this, and…what on earth did you back there? It looked like you fired a Hyper Beam from where I was at in the sky. It ripped across at least a good ways and a good few tanks with that attack. Electrikes can’t even use Hyper Beam!”

“…I dunno…I was…just trying to make good use of the power, and I thought about how you would use it and well…”

I couldn’t help but to make a content sigh, a slight laugh, then placed my hand on top of the boy’s head. “What am I going to do with you?” A confused look came about the boy at first then a rather tired, but joyful grin came about the boy’s face.

It would soon be discovered the shift of the fight today here in Black City was about to ascend to even higher levels. Shortly after the Rockets came in to provide aid, something got the two of ours attention. The pressure started to centralize around a point, a large, rather ungodly one. Tristen looked up towards the skies, seeing the various Flying types trying to get the hell out of dodge. Tristen and I looked on towards the south and see something towering over the city and our slight respite of joy turned into grief. Worse still, fighting seemed to have started once again. Perhaps the last of the Flare grunts making their last stand as well. “Oh, come on, get off it…” I said.

“Zygarde. Wait. If Zygarde is here, then…”

“Lysandre is here, and he’s probably out in the open. He wouldn’t dream letting such a thing in the hands of anyone else. Not even Ein.” I said. “This is his final act. He’s pulling out all the stops…” I was left in a rather unfortunate position. I needed to help the others to fend off the Zygarde; I’d probably be one of the better shots at that in the long term. But I also need to get to Lysandre as well. I’d probably not get another shot at this, and I don’t know the few that have broke off from the main group are doing and if they are going to be able to actually jump on the b*****d.

“Blizz?” Tristen spoke up towards me.

“Huh?”

“Go get ‘em.” The boy said. “I’ll go to Zygarde. We can do it.”

“I’m not quite sure where you’re getting that confidence from.”

“I don’t know either.” Tristen said. “But I think we can at least hold him off until you find Lysandre. Zygarde won’t be able to do too much if you stop the puppeteer, I think. Besides, I know how much you want him. You’ve said it for a long time now. I’ll be careful. I promise.” He spoke those words to me with a rather serious look in his eyes; afraid they were, but resolved as well. He had said it before; rather if he was in this fight or not, if we had lost with or without him, he’s screwed in the end anyhow. He knew that. I knew that.

I took another deep breath then looked down at the kid. He was my son, not of blood, but of bond. A rather seemingly unbreakable one. As much as I didn’t want to leave him, I had to acknowledge he has made great strides. What was once a timid, weak young boy, abused by proxy in draconian methods became a rather responsible and strong one with perhaps one of the brighter futures should he make it out of this. I couldn’t in the long run just keep protecting him like this. He knows what needed to be done, just as I did. “You come back to me when this is over.” I said.

“I will. Be sure to get Lysandre.”

“Promise. Give them hell.” Tristen then rushed off towards the direction of Zygarde as I looked towards the other direction. It was time for Lysandre to be brought to an end.

----------

Tristen rushed off, making his way around the debris, staying low for the time being, trying to conserve his energy and his Pokemon for the fight ahead. He knew that he was going to need every last one of them against Zygarde. He made his way past a building, not paying too much attention other than the target that he needed to get to, before his vest and shirt collar got caught. Tristen gagged a bit from being stopped dead in his tracks. He turned his head, seeing behind him a Flare grunt out the corner of his eye. “Poubelle hybride!” The grunt shouted as he started to wrap his arms around Tristen. Tristen struggled loose then quickly kicked at one of the grunts legs, bringing him to one knee, then gave a hard haymaker right to put the grunt on all fours. Another grunt came up behind Tristen, a larger, burlier grunt grabbing Tristen in a massive bearhug. Tristen struggled for a couple of seconds then lit up his body with a Spark attack. The second grunt yelped, dropping the boy. Tristen turned around and drove one hard punch right into the man’s gut, knocking the wind out of him. The boy leaped up as the grunt hunched over, grabbing him by the ears to drag him down to Tristen’s level, shocking the grunt, locking the grunts muscles up in paralysis before shoving him hard aside. Tristen then snapped back, realizing the first grunt was coming back up, but before that one realized it, Tristen grabs the grunt by the arm and smashes his free fist right into his neck, dropping the grunt where he stood.

The boy stopped and had to take a breath. As he done so, he realized that being trained by his adoptive father was paying off…though…that was a little exhausting fighting two on one like that, even if they were only humans. Tristen then heard a slight noise, perking up then looking back, seeing a massive Fire Blast attack rushing right for him. The boy dove out of the way as the attack rushed by him. He picked his head up, looking back where the attack went, then where it came from. “Rendered one incapacitated by means of paralysis through use of Thunder Wave then the other by a sharp blow to the Carotid artery, causing a disruption of blood and oxygen to the target’s brain to cause a fainting spell. A full on war and yet you’re trying to still use non-lethal means. Confusing. What’s even more confusing is why these peons decided to attack a hybrid unarmed, even if the hybrid is merely a child.”

Tristen stared in confusion for a moment, a woman accompanied by a Houndoom, dressed what looked…sort of like a lab coat, but all red and the weirdest glasses he’s ever seen on someone. Or a visor? Not only that, the obviously dyed blue hair just made it all the more off putting. “…who…or…what are you?”

“Me? I’m just a woman of science.” She said as she walked forward. “Though on most days I toil around a lab, working and overseeing the expansion of Minister Lysandre’s dream, I have, just as a few others, found time to work their way into the upper echelon of Flare. I…” The woman stopped for a second and stared at Tristen confusion when she finally noticed that…Tristen is hardly amused…perhaps bored even. “…what is wrong with you?”

“……for someone real smart, you really are so dumb not to think a simple name would have done the job.” Tristen said. “That was boring for even me and I actually kinda like science books.”

“….” While Tristen couldn’t see the woman’s eyes, he could imagine the most disdained look as the woman’s lips pouted out ever so slightly as if to say ‘really?’ “I am Mable, out to take pretentious brats like you out. Cliché enough for you?”

“A little better.” Tristen said.

“Good, it’s the last favor you get. HOUNDOOM!” The Houndoom reared back and got ready to battle. “Flamethrower!” Tristen’s eyes immediately went wide and ran for it as the Houndoom unleashed a mighty inferno from its maw. Tristen hopped over debris and hunkered down. Flames rushed upon around and over the debris with the occasional embers that seeped through the cracks over the span of a few seconds.

Once the attack was over, Tristen pulled out a Pokeball then quickly gave it a hard toss. “Cranidos!” Tristen shouted. The ball bursts open and out came the fossil Pokémon out and ready for battle. Tristen had worked with this Fossil Pokémon quite a bit since it has been brought into this world; though this was the first real battle that this thing had to work with. Teaching it attacks and some of the motions was all well and good, but this was the real thing here. He knows that this was a risk taking this thing against what could be a severely experienced Houndoom, even with type advantage going for him, but it was one that he was willing to take. “Cranidos! Headbutt!” The Cranidos squalled out, rushing forth against the opposition then dove head first right into the fiery hound. The hard head virtually landed a crushing blow, one that seemed stronger than what this Cranidos is supposed to do.

“Damage, although average, exceeded parameters…” Mable said. “...subject possibly has the traits of Sheer Force…alright, if that’s the game you want to play. Houndoom! Crunch Attack!” she shouted.

“Cranidos, look out!” Tristen shouted. The Cranidos tried to scurry away, but there was no outrunning the Houndoom’s speed. The Pokémon gets scooped up with darkness-infused jaws and clamped down hard. The Cranidos cried out as it struggled in the Houndoom’s mouth, helpless as it got gnawed on and jerked around until the Houndoom finally whipped its head around and slammed the Cranidos upon the pavement of the street.

“Beat Up!” Mable then shouted, calling for a follow-up attack. The Houndoom leaped up and from it, an afterimage showed up, something took notice to. Tristen learned usually it calls upon the power of those within a group for a Beat Up attack. In a trainer’s case, it’s usually those in the Pokémon party…and there wasn’t that many. In fact, there were just one other. She actually only brought this Houndoom and one other Pokémon to this fight? Some Admin.

“Cranidos! Use Rock Tomb!” Tristen shouted. The Cranidos manages to whip itself off the ground then smashed its head into the pavement which sent large chunks of pavement up at the Houndoom, which the hellhound couldn’t avoid. The Houndoom was eventually buried under debris. “Cranidos! Take Down!” he then shouted.

“Houndoom!” the scientist shouted. The Houndoom managed to pull itself from the rubble and get out scotfree as the Cranidos plowed right through the rubble headfirst. “Houndoom, counterattack! Flamethrower!” The Houndoom, quick as ever, unleashed a mighty inferno which engulfed the Cranidos. “Speed of Houndoom unaffected by Rock Tomb…it DOES have Sheer Force! Cheeky.” The notion got Tristen rather nervous; he was found out that he was going to try to brute force his way out of this fight. “Ametuer move, kid.” The Houndoom stopped with the assault, seeing the Cranidos singed nearly from head to toe from the inferno and not looking too hot…figuratively speaking. “This fight is mine. Houndoom! Finish it off! Crunch attack!”

As the Houndoom charged full speed ahead with its darkened jaws once more, Tristen’s eyes narrowed. “I don’t think so…” Tristen said. “Cranidos! Head Smash!” the boy shouted. The Cranidos managed to brace itself and charged at the oncoming Houndoom, head first at that, even stronger than the Take Down attack. A reckless charge that met the Crunch attack head on and rocked the Houndoom’s world, catastrophic damage. The scientist didn’t think the boy would be so brazen to risk such an attack in Cranidos’s condition, but sure enough it pays off, repelling the hound and having it hit the pavement in a tumble before coming to a stop. The Houndoom tried to get up after the attack but the attack was just too devastating.

“Well this changes everything…” She said, recalling the Houndoom.

Tristen, seeing that Cranidos is ready to drop after the severe recoil of the attack. Sheer Force unfortunately doesn’t come with the benefits of Rock Head. “Cranidos, come back.” The boy said, bringing the fossil Pokémon back to the ball.

“You’ve now severely upset me. I usually don’t relish in this, but I think I’ll afford myself the pleasure this time…just for you.” She said, taking out another Pokeball. “Weavile!” She tosses the ball out and out came the second mystery Pokémon. True to form, it was a Weavile, ready to battle. Tristen’s eyes narrowed. He wondered if she very well knew that the boy knew the ins and outs of one if not only owning one himself but thanks to his father figure as well. A realization though came to him…she favored Dark type attacks and this is her second Dark type Pokemon…was she a Dark type trainer? Like Sub? So far, she wasn’t as good as him, the boy thought. And bringing a Weavile of all things was perhaps going to be a fatal mistake on her part in this battle. Immediately he reached for another Pokeball, one with Meinfoo in it. However, a realization occurred to Tristen, she’s already expecting him to bring a quick end to the fight, and perhaps had a reason for carrying a Weavile on her. Maybe she used Weavile like his adoptive father and loaded this Weavile with a couple of counter based moves. Barring that, Meinfoo already got roughed up a fair bit against a Klingklang earlier, which meant if Weavile were to get a good shot in, which chances are it would, she could make short work of Meinfoo. He then went for a different ball instead.

“Go! Magmar!” Tristen shouted, tossing the ball. The ball went out and landed, and out came the walking furnace itself, ready for battle.

“Maaaaagggg…”

“Get ready, Magmar. This lady is tough!”

“Parameters set…”

“Magmar, Flamethrower!” Tristen shouted.

“Fake Out!” Mable shouted. As Magmar started to breath in to unleash a mighty inferno upon its opponent, the Weavile with blinding speed rushed for the Magmar and smacked it right in the face. The Magmar whipped back, flinching hard from the sudden strike.

“Magmar!”

“None of those…Throat Chop!” she then commanded.

“Wait wha!?” That was new, the boy thought and he couldn’t react in time. This Weavile is exploiting everything and crippling Magmar bit by bit. The Weavile drove its claw right into Magmar’s neck, a yelp and a hard, strained gasp. Magmar tried to retaliate on its own, another Flamethrower, but, that Flamethrower couldn’t even be rated as a Ember attack at this rate. More coughs came out of the Magmar as it tried to get itself right again. Tristen knew that attacks now like that was out of the question, hell, it’d be a wonder if Magmar could even speak at the moment with such a harsh shot. The boy had to improvise, and fast. “Magmar! Fire Punch!” The Magmar’s fist lit ablaze and drove it down towards the Weavile in a desperate attempt for causing damage. The Weavile managed to weave out of the way and back off.

“Subject temporarily limited to close quarter combat, Weavile’s specialty. Gaining the advantage.” Tristen gritted his teeth slightly out of anger. She suddenly was making a mockery out of him. “Weavile! Hone Claws!”

“Vvvvvile!” The Weavile hissed out, its claws out and ready to cause some damage. Weavile was going to make this decisive real quick.

“Magmar! Use Fire Punch!” Tristen called out again.

“Double Team!” The scientist called out. The Magmar leaped up in the air and started to drive its ignited fist down, but as it was on its descent, the Weavile split up, illusions appeared out of nowhere and Magmar crashed down on top of one of them.

“Night Slash!” She shouted.

“Magmar! Look out!” The illusions disappeared and Weavile made a mad dash towards the Magmar. Before the living furnace could turn around, the darkness-infused claws slashed away at the back of the Magmar, sending him off and skidding a fair ways on the ground. The Magmar managed to pick itself back up off the ground a few seconds later, but the damage had been done. That took a lot out of the fire type.

“Magmar!” Tristen shouted. “Use-

“Not a chance! Night Slash!”

The speedy Weavile dashed for Magmar once again and gave the mighty swipe. The look of pure horror came about the Magmar’s face as it struck, his eyes rolled to the back of his head. “Game over…” the scientist said. But then…something odd. There wasn’t no wail, no groan…just…a loud deflating squeak. The fiery mass that Weavile had slashed at regressed into a grey…unknown like form...that was split in half from the attack. “A Substitute doll!?”

“Not yet, it isn’t! Magmar!” As fast as it could, the Magmar rushed up behind the Weavile.

“Weavile! Behind you!” The Weavile looked back to see what was coming but as soon as it done so, it was caught up in Magmar’s fiery arms, in a massive bearhug. Its scalding body started to do work up and down Weavile. Weavile shrieked as the searing temps immediately started to get the better of it; it flailed and struggled but Magmar’s volcanic clutches held tight.

“You know, I never can figure out why anyone wants a Shadow Pokemon. Zera especially.” Tristen said. “Especially when the Pokemon is so much better normal than they are as machines! Magmar, you feeling better!?”

The Magmar gave a couple of more coughs the spoke. “MAGMAR!”

“Good! Seismic Toss!” He shouted. The Magmar shifted itself grabbing the Weaviles legs then started to spin around, more and more momentum built as the Weavile started to cry out from the speed. Magmar then leaped into the air, full momentum built and drove the helpless Weavile right into the pavement. “Flamethrower!” Tristen the called out.

“Weavile! Agility!” Mable shouted. The Magmar unleashed the mighty inferno, although point blank, the Weavile managed to scramble up and dash away from the flames in the nick of time, getting distance. He stopped, skidding to a stop to face the Magmar once more, but then something Mable was afraid of. The Weavile winced hard; not from the impact of getting a face full of asphalt. The burns from being caught in Magmar’s clutches done its deed. “Flame Body, standard defenses of a Magmar used offensively. A minor setback, but only minor.”

“I wouldn’t be too sure about that one! Magmar!”

“Weavile! Double Team!” Mable shouted out. Quickly, more illusionary copies started to fill the area that danced about around Magmar.

“Magmar! Clear Smog!” He shouted. Magmar unleashed a thick white cloud upon the field, the illusions started to disappear one right after the next until it left the last image, the real one, coughing and wheezing, virtually choking from the thick smoke that filled the area. “Nowhere to run.”

“Weavile, incoming!” Mable shouted.

“Fire Blast!” Tristen shouted. Magmar breathed in then unleashed the mighty pyro for the Weavile. The massive ball of fire unfurled into the standard kanji like formation and pelted the Weavile full force, causing immense damage to the icy Dark type and blowing it away. The Weavile couldn’t help but to submit to the battle by passing out from the damage. Mable was left stunned at the turn of events; it was supposed to be a easy battle against an ignorant kid who thought he was tougher than he was. She thought wrong. “You might want to run…” Tristen said, his crests sparking to follow up his threat. Magmar as well, spitting a few embers showing that he’s still got more fire to go.

“Tactical retreat…tactical retreat…” She frantically takes back out the Weavile’s Pokeball and recalls the Pokemon then made the run for it.

The boy sighed in relief. “Thanks Magmar, you did great.” He said.

“Maaaaaag…”

“Take a break for now.” He said, recalling the fiery Pokemon from the field. He looked back, wondering how long he took in the battle. Regardless, it was too long, as far as he thought. He quickly made his way back to aid the rest of the Snagems with Zygarde.

(Pt 2)

As Tristen went on with his struggle down to the south I was headed elsewhere. To Lysandre. To bring this long-standing fight of wits and power to an abrupt end. To get that proverbial rat that got away, as Sub once put it to me. I can’t help but to think back to that day when Lysandre brought Freth and I into the lab in Kalos and exposed his ambitions to us. He was untouchable. As much as I say I regret that I didn’t take that Ice Beam shot in the past when I had him right in my sights, just as large part of me says that I did the right thing. I wouldn’t have been continue to operate with what I was doing with Snagem or just in life in general without getting into a fight everywhere I turn and being on the run. Snagem probably would have had more problems than just HAZARD, Ein, and Lysandre…I would have been a liability to everyone. It pained me to think that Lysandre knew that back then. It wasn’t easy getting here. It wasn’t easy getting Lysandre out in the open like this. This was our one and only shot.

As I continued down the path my instincts tripped and I looked over to my left. As soon as I cleared the corner around a building, it was as if all time slowed to a mere tiny fraction of itself to me. I saw a Charizard, looking dead at me, maw lit ablaze. It was targeting me. The very instant I realized it, it felt as if time started to speed up back to normal once more. The Charizard unleashed a mighty Fire Blast attack that came at me so fast from so close of range that the flames didn’t even have time to unfurl into its trademark formation. I tried to dodge with Agility, and while I managed to avoid the flames itself, it wasn’t enough time to get away from the blast’s impact on the ground. The force propelled me head over heels a good distance right through a chain-link fence and skidded on barren dirt beyond that. I stayed down for a couple of seconds then pushed myself off the ground. I took a look around me, taking note that I was in some sort of district in Black City, perhaps one that was intended on being expanded upon, at least before Flare decided to overrun this place. Construction equipment and materials were all over the place, abandoned due to the war effort.

I looked back seeing the Charizard hovering over. Now that I had a look at it, I could better tell this Charizard’s story…its tail flame was stoked to intense levels. This Charizard was fiercely trained. The lizard itself was actually rather big, probably bigger than most average trainers carrying a Charizard. Meaning not only it was trained, this one had age on him. It’s seen a lot of battles from the long-since faded scars that was on this beast. One had to look extremely closely to see them. I instantly knew who this fiery lizard belonged to. “You know, I was warned that you were close to Lysandre. In fact, part of me wondered if you were going to be out here. Maybe under the excuse of covering the biggest story here in this Pokémon world, sort of speaking. So tell me: Newscaster by day, elite by noon, fondler by night? Or what?”

“Very uncouth words from one known as a ‘noble’.” From around various cement pipes, arms crossed. There she stood, Malva, in her normal journalistic attire and her crimson red hair up in a bun, and her rosy red glasses down the bridge of her nose for her eyes to look over. “It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what you’re up to since Zygarde is roaming about. Predictable as always…just as your forays into the Battle Chateau to gain intel on Lysandre and if any bonus, get any allies you possibly can. More than anyone would have imagined, honestly, as a hybrid in a land such as Kalos. Even won over Wikstrom and Diantha somehow from your efforts. Bravo.” She said, slow clapping.

“And yet you and Lysandre knew about this and didn’t do a blasted thing about it. In fact, you couldn’t. Suddenly ousting Wikstrom for being a traitor when he’s the most loyal to the country and shafting the very symbol of peace and unity that is the Kalosian champion, Diantha? That would have raised a lot more suspicious eyes than what Flare was already dealing with. Just as I couldn’t off Lysandre right when I had him, you couldn’t do anything to those two. For that matter, you couldn’t do anything to me either because I had done nothing other than do a few battles at the chateau, which wasn’t against any rules.”

“So you say as well as any camera trained on you would say. Though you and I know differently. Like that little journalist you risked your neck out for a couple of times. Got to say, that wasn’t quite nice spreading that kind of news about.”

“Oh just helping the truth get to the masses and all instead of a bunch of allowing them to remain ignorant to it all. And hey, with what’s going on around us at this very minute, it’s known for certain Lysandre has no interests for anyone, hell, probably not even you, if I had to wager a guess. Probably views you as disposable just as much as any human or hybrid on this speck in the universe.”

“Comes to show how much you have yet to learn about the likes of Team Flare, ‘Cold One’.” Malva said.

“So tell me, why ARE you here? Pretty big risk to the career to all of a sudden come out to Unova just to get your hide handed to you while under the Flare banner, rather it be getting massacred yourself or taken out in a Pokémon battle should it come to it.” I said.

“Confident are we?” she said. “Says one that has the poorest record against the likes of a Kalosian elite so far.”

“Those weren’t normal circumstances. For that matter, in case I need to remind you, this isn’t a normal fight, either.” I said.

“…you know? You’re right.” Malva said, bringing her hands down to her side. “Charizard!” I perked up as the Charizard roared out. The massive fire type then unleashed a mighty pyro for me which I averted out of the way with Agility, deeper into the construction site. “If you HAVE to know, Lysandre figured you’d be coming to him and wouldn’t you know it that you are one of the most threatening ones in Snagem to him, along the same level of your fearless, reckless leader for each of your own reasons.” She said. “For you, in particular, he figured to send me to deal with you, since he figured once you figured out he’s here, you’d go after him like a Venomoth to a giant bug zapper!” She wouldn’t get a reply out of me on that, but that threw things in a little perspective for me. I was so threatening that Lysandre had to throw an Elite at me? Well, don’t I feel special.

I quickly dashed around with Agility, going from cover to cover until I got back out in the open within view of Malva and her Charizard, but by then, I had a Pokeball out and ready to go. “Go! Porygon-Z!” I shouted as I gave the ball a hard toss. It struck the ground and in a flash of light, out came the hyperactive digital Pokemon, ready for battle. “Porygon-Z! Tri-Attack!” I shouted. The Porygon-Z quickly fired its tri-attack straight for the Charizard, blasting it back towards Malva and having it hit the ground.

“Charizard, get up! This way!” Malva shouted, rushing off. The Charizard quickly scrambled back to its feet and took flight after Malva. She went behind the cement pipes then as she made her way to the otherside of them, she was on the back of that Charizard, taking to the air.

“Are you freakin’ kidding me right now?”

“Like you said! This isn’t a normal fight! Charizard! Flame Burst!” Malva shouted. The Charizard unleashed a massive fireball and lobbed it over towards Porygon-Z and I. The ball bursts upon impact with the ground and searing embers flew everywhere.

“PORY!!!”

“Gah! Porygon-Z! Tri-Attack!” I shouted. Porygon-Z fired the Tri-attack shots, the Charizard duck and weaved about the beam attacks then started back on the attack run. “Figures…Porygon-Z, let’s go!” I shouted, running back deep into the construction site, into the framework of the building. Porygon-Z zipped over towards me and started to follow me in. Malva and the Charizard swooped down low to the ground and made the rush for Porygon-Z and I. With it gaining ground, I snatched up Porygon-Z then made the hard leap to the floor above, grabbing onto a girder and allowing the Charizard to fly by under me. I hoisted Porygon-Z up then pulled myself up after it.

As soon as I managed to get myself upright, Malva and the Charizard made their way up to the next floor themselves, crashing through a steel sheet that was erected up as a wall. Metal rods and tools flew everywhere from the sudden dynamic entry of the Elite and her Pokemon. “Charizard! Flamethrower!” Malva commanded. As the two rushed for us, the Charizard unleashed a mighty inferno our way. Porygon-Z and I split up, averting the blaze. The elite duo rushed right by the two of us immediately after then turned around to face us.

“Porygon-Z! Thunderbolt!” I called out. Porygon-Z crackled furious with electricity and with a loud shrill, the virtual Pokemon unleashed its electrical onslaught upon the fiery Pokemon. The power surged every inch of the Charizard, it roared out in pain, pain which Malva felt for she was still on it. Worse still for her, as the attack crashed down upon her the Charizard writhed and bucked in pain, knocking her off of its back having her to hit the floor. Immediately, I capitalized, with rattling off Ice Beam shots single-handedly right at her. She quickly scrambled up and took cover, a couple of icy blasts barely missing her as she ran off. “Blast it!” I went off to pursue her, not wanting her to get away that easily. However, the Charizard managed to break free of the Thunderbolt attack and cut me off, catching me off guard. The dragon-esque fire type made a hard spin to build quick momentum as the entirety of its tail glowed fiercely and smashed right into me. An Iron Tail attack which drove right into my entire torso. The attack sent me flying back the way I came and then some, smashing through a couple of mounted guard rails and finally coming to rest abruptly embedded in a concrete wall for a few seconds until gravity managed to pull me out and I flopped on the floor, following up with a hard wheeze and a cough.

“PORRYYY!” Porygon-Z shouted for me. Before it could get the chance to do anything else however, rather it be try to come to my aid or counter attack itself, the Charizard was already on the virtual Pokemon’s case, driving a massive foot right into Porygon-Z by means of Mega Kick and kicked it across the floor.

I laid there on the floor, writhing in severe agonizing pain. I managed to get my breath back, but every gasp of air was full of pain to boot. If there was any bane to me, it was in fact steel-type attacks. There were usually no counter to them as a person in my position, no defense other than dodging and running away. I wish I saw that attack coming sooner; I cursed myself for not doing so. As I tried to struggle back up, Malva came out of hiding from where she ran off to and started walking towards me. She picked up one of the steel rods that got flung all over the place when she and her Charizard crashed through and continued toward me, allowing the rod drag and scrape along the cement floor. When she got close, she hoisted the rod up, having to put effort behind it and just as I was about manage to get on all fours, she drives the rod right across my back, putting me back down. “GAH!”

“You know? I never would have imagine that I would have to thoroughly soil my hands just to take a hybrid of all things out.” She said, having to move a lock of hair away from her eyes and guiding it right behind her ear. “They don’t tell you that in college when trying to get your Journalism degree.” She hoisted the rod back over and slams it down on me once more, another pained yell out of me. “Lysandre did allude that I might have to do SOME heavy lifting if it came to it if I were to be part of the ranks of Flare, but you…ohh…” Another slam, though only a groan out of me as if I was trying to brace for her next attack. “…you…you, you, you…you really bring out the worst in someone. But no, it’s okay. Perfect opportunity to get out some much needed aggression…” Another swing across my back and another groan out of me. I couldn’t believe this. One careless move and I’m on the receiving end of a breakdown rant out of an elite for as who all I knew was having her time of the month while she beats me like a dying Rapidash. Was this really happening, I could only ask myself. “…you wouldn’t believe just how hard it is to keep up a gentle smile and come off as unbiased to millions of viewers all the while being held to the standards of a Pokémon League elite. I go WAY out of my way to keep those like you out of the lives of everyone. And I don’t mean just as you as a hybrid…ohhh, that’s just the icing on the cake.” Another smash with the rod, though there was nothing out of me this time. “Those callous fools, not wanting to retain the perfect status quo…those like the entourage that you are with…wanting to disrupt the peace of not only Kalos, but the entire world even!” Another slam of the rod. “Everything was provided, every was all happy, sunshine, and rainbows. Trainers battle with their carefree, ignorant lives, hybrids are just mere make-believe boogymen, and workers like myself can do my career as a holo-caster superstar and round it off with a few rounds with wanna-be champions with severe illusions of grandeur to remind them what their place truly is.” Another swing of the rod, striking me. “But then there is you, and those like you who wants to mess all of that up. And you idiots say YOU’RE doing it in the name of peace!? Ridiculous. And even worse, your actions only added more fuel to the fire. I swear, at the very least, when we’re done here, I will personally tend to Ms. Alexa and bring an end to that Kalosian resistance. We know where they’re hiding now. You’re little recent run in Lumiose was only a mere set back; one that will be rectified.” Malva tosses the rod aside then started to walk off towards her Charizard, a little out of breath from swinging the rod. “Fry him. Leave nothing. He doesn’t even deserve to be charcoal.” She commanded.

The Charizard walked forward, getting close, its maw lighting ablaze. “PORRRRYYY!”

“Charizard! Behind you!” Porygon-Z rushed in, firing a Tri-Attack right in the back of the Charizard. The beam drilled right into the fiery lizard. Once its attention was diverted to the virtual Pokemon, I managed to quickly push myself up and aimed an Ice Beam right at Malva. She quickly snapped her head back, seeing the ice beam as well as the face of a very pissed off Articuno hybrid. I fired the beam and it blasted her back, caking a fair portion of her in ice. The Charizard, realizing what just happened lit up its maw again to try to incinerate me where I stood. I dove over, grabbing a large bag of cement mix and tossed it the path of the Charizard’s incoming attack. The bag exploded and a large cloud of cement dust filled the area. I scrambled as best as I could, eyes closed tightly and breath held so I wouldn’t get caught up in that mess, using only instincts to guide me. I could feel that I rushed by the Charizard and Malva was still on the floor. Quickly I dashed for a couple of seconds until I took a peek and found I was out of the dust cloud.

I gave a loud whistle. “Porygon-Z! Over here!” I shouted, rushing for the stairwell and made my way up it.

As I made it to the top of the stairs, my chest started cramping up severely, the pain from the Iron Tail earlier flared up as if to punish me for ignoring it for so long. Back down below, the Charizard pulled Malva out from the dust cloud and helped her with the ice she now found herself with. “I am going to kill him.” She said with her teeth gritted tight. The Charizard managed to thaw the ice off and helped her regain feeling. “Come on!” she said. She instantly noticed the footprints made by the dust. Prints of an Articuno, heading towards the stairs. She rushed over to the stairs and saw they made their way up. She motioned her head, commanding her Charizard. The Charizard flew up the length of the stairs and made its way to the top, looking around. The fire Pokemon growled out, signaling to Malva that it was good to come up. The Flare journalist climbed the stairs, taking note to the prints which soon faded out just shortly after they left the stairs.

“Perfect Status Quo, huh?” Malva perked up, trying to get a read on where the voice was coming from. “That’s a joke. If it was so perfect, then explain to me why was there need for rebellion in Kalos, huh?”

“That’s the simple answer, there was no need! Even you should know a person’s insatiable greed for more. More money, fame, power, just more, more, more. It comes to show even perfect isn’t even good enough and it leads to destruction. A bunch of entitled, spoiled children, really when you think about it. Handed everything right on a sterling silver platter and yet it’s not enough, ungrateful about the opportunities and gifts provided to them, only for them to wonder why they don’t have anything in the end when fact of the matter is they squandered such things needlessly!”

“You see, I’d buy that, if it weren’t the fact that there’s no such thing as ‘perfect’.” Malva continued to look around then hand-waved at her Charizard, giving it a direction to go in order to try to find me. “Yea, people are pretty messed up. I know that just as much as anyone else, but unfortunately such a flaw gets compounded when there’s no room for such mistakes! Perfect would mean no need for advancement, no need to achieve, no need for evolution, no need to learn and discover. That’s boring. And restricting. Now I’m not suggesting that to go unchecked, hell no. Otherwise, we get bastards like Ein! It’s one of the major problems that even the recent exiled king of Kalos didn’t realize he had with this ‘perfect status quo’ that you’re trying to tout. And look where it got him! He got played like a freakin’ harp from hell by Lysandre and the nobles, which by extension, you too. And now you’re trying to play that same song and dance? You? An Elite who should know better than that? You disgust me. That crap isn’t perfect, that’s oppressive! It even can break someone to their very core; I almost lost a friend the night of the exile because of that you self-righteous whore!”

“I don’t recall asking for your opinion!” she said, her eyes shifting and scanning the room as her Charizard’s did on the other side.

“Yea, just like I didn’t ask for yours when you were smacking me around with that rod a couple of minutes ago…but whatever. By the way: Heads up.” I said. A whizzing sound started to move by Charizard’s feet; the beast look down, seeing several nylon ropes. The Charizard followed his eyes along the path at a rapid pace, looking up towards what was to be a ceiling which had a clear view of Black City’s night sky. A flat loaded with more cement bag falling at a rapid pace on a crash course to Malva’s head. The Charizard roared out. Malva quickly looked up, eyes going wide, instinctively diving off to the side to avoid being crushed by the flat. While the Charizard’s back was turned, Porygon-Z and I dashed out behind a couple of generators, the both of us ramming into the Charizard’s back, Porygon-Z in particular by means of Double Edge. The Charizard got shoved hard by the attack, getting carried off into a nearby unfinished portion of the floor, which lead back down to the second floor. With the two of us on the Charizard’s back unexpectedly, the Charizard crashed face first into the cement floor of the second floor.

“Charizard!” Malva managed to get back up and rushed to the hole, looking down to the second floor, just in time to see me and Porygon-Z roll off the back of the fiery Pokemon.

“Ugh…I wish I could say I was having better days right now…” I said, wincing a bit as I managed to get back on my feet.

“Porrryyy…” Porygon-Z agreed.

“But hey, talk about your press stoppers, right?”

As the two of us started to walk off and make our way back to the third floor, Malva still continued to stare at the scene before her. Her face increasingly unamused. She reached in her back pocket, and put on a earpiece that wrapped about her ear, with a mike on the end for her to speak. However, it wasn’t just an ordinary headset. The mike portion was rather large for what it was and she gave it a press. “This fight is not over.” She said. I perked up, hearing her, seeing her above then looked back towards the Charizard as it was engulfed in a crystal shell.

“Why…in God’s name…am I not in the least bit surprised…” I said as I took a few more steps back away from where the Charizard was. The shell cracked then bursts out, revealing a black dragon with blue flames that came from it and the most ungodly roar one could ever hear. “…Mega Charizard, X form…” I said. “…what is it with Kalosians and their blasted crutches?”

“I’d prefer to call it using tactical advantages.” Malva chimed in.

“Alternate facts much?”

A deadpan look came out of Malva. “…yea, frying you now. Charizard! Flamethrower!” The Charizard unleashed a large mighty inferno upon us, virtually no hesitation out of it.

Porygon-Z and I split up, averting the shot as the blaze rushed past the both of us. But when we looked at the aftermath, the cement floor that was caught up within the blaze nearly turned molten from the sheer heat of that attack, a long, wide strip of orange and red from where the flames rushed on by for a mere couple of seconds. “…nuh-uh.” I quickly scrambled and leaped up. “Porygon-Z, move it!” The Porygon-Z sped away as well, tailing me, following me back through the hole back on the third floor where Malva was and rushed by her.

The Charizard flew up following after us. “Get them!” The Charizard went on hot pursuit after us. I looked back for a second trying to think of a way out of this. Mega evolved or not, this thing should still have whatever damage it accumulated before it got set out on this rampage. That said, I have to admit, the way he’s coming after us, it’s almost like it didn’t even matter. Worse still, if I remember this Mega Evolution in particular, Charizard loses out on a lot of the weaknesses it originally had, namely against Water and Electric types for instance, which just throws me at all the more of a disadvantage. I didn’t have much that can fight that head-on, if at all.

Malva rushed after the rest of us, trying to keep tabs of the action at hand. “Charizard! Flare Blitz!” Charizard sped up instantly, its body started to engulf in its blue and darker blue flames making a hard beeline for the both of us. I quickly snatched up Porygon-Z once again and gave the virtual Pokemon a hard lob off to the side then twisted around to meet the dragon head on. The dragon rams into me, but I brace for impact. The flames sear into every inch of me, I grit my teeth, trying to hang on tight as the damage racks up severely on me. The Charizard then stopped the attack then tries to shake me off of him. I was starting to lose my grip with the fierce bucking, swaying, and flailing of the dragon. “Persistent wretch! Charizard, get him off of you!” Malva shouted. “Try using a Submission!” she shouted.

The Charizard tries to continue to shift and sway about, trying to get a good handle on me. As it tried to do so, Porygon-Z floated back off the ground, shaking its head trying to get its bearings after being suddenly tossed, then sees me holding on for dear life. “PORYGON-Z!” I shouted out to my Pokemon. “LOCK ON!” The Porygon-Z looks up towards the two of us, and studies the movements, the sway, getting a good bead on how everything was moving.

Malva looks over, seeing Porygon-Z, picks another rod that was propped up against the wall, rushed over and took a swing at Porygon-Z. Porygon-Z though, seeing her coming, ultimately had to break off the lock-on to avoid getting beaned by Malva. I managed to see her attacking my Pokemon, but that moment to see what was going on managed to get me right in Charizard’s grasp. “GAH!” I started to flail and kick myself, trying to get out of the Charizard’s clutches before it went through with its trainer’s command. Porygon-Z floated back, ducking and weaving from Malva’s frantic swings of the rod before Porygon-Z defended itself, blasting her back with a Dark Pulse. With the Elite dispatched once more, Porygon-Z trained its sights up at the two of us once more. The Charizard then started to ascend then started to plummet, nose diving with me in its clutches. It was ready to end this.

“PORRRRY!!!!!” Porygon-Z shouted towards me. That was my cue. I flailed as hard as I could, charging an Ice Beam in each of my hands and detonating them, making the Charizard wince some. I then thrusted a knee right into the fiery dragon’s chest, then pushed off with both legs to break free. “PORYGON-Z! ZAP CANNON!”

“POOORRR RRRRRRY!” A loud electrical blast was fired from the third floor of the uncompleted building, rushing for its target and piercing the Mega Evolved Charizard. The electrical attack surged through the Mega Charizard’s body and gripped its body tight with paralysis. I glided down and landed on the building nearby Porygon-Z, though, not perfectly by any means. I ended up going into a tumble and eventually landed face first, exhausted.

The Mega Charizard, struggled to get a similar landing, trying to fight through the paralysis that was overcoming it, but it had a harsher crash, too much momentum carrying the large beast, crashing through various objects, tangling up in various electrical cables and nylon ropes meant for the building and ended up falling over the other side of the building. The clumped up jumbled mess managed to wrap around one of Malva’s legs. Malva was unaware at first what was going on, checking her glasses, seeing a large crack down one of the lenses, probably from Porygon-Z’s Dark Pulse. As soon as she slid her frames back on, she noticed that the cables and ropes that got wrapped up around her and before she had time to slide them off, she gets forcefully jerked and she started to slide, following suit of her Charizard. Frantically, futilely, Malva clawed in a panic in a desperate attempt not to fall over herself. She grabbed onto the flat that nearly crushed her earlier and by a miracle, she stopped…she was not out of the woods though. Her grip couldn’t withstand the weight of a Mega Evolved charizard for long, the flat, on a very smooth surface was getting dragged by the weight of the cables, ropes, and Charizard slowly but surely, it was a matter of time before one of those two factors would give way and Malva would go for a fall.

The Charizard, growled and roared out, panicking, trying to free itself from the entanglement as well as it dangled a floor and a half below as best as it could, as it also tried to free itself from the paralyzing grip of Porygon-Z’s Zap Cannon. “CHARIZARD! STOP! UGH! SQUIRMING!” She pleaded out, feeling the harsh tugging on her leg. I walked up to Malva, staring at her. She stared at me back, with a look of horror on her face. “WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?”

“You’re come-uppance, I guess. Everything about you was a lie.” The weight continued to pull at Malva, which by extension pulled on the slat, gravity was winning the battle either way. “Trying to bring for a ludicrous vision of peace and serenity…which really at its very core is genocide.” I said. “You and Lysandre, putting the king into exile, playing everyone that comes within your view as pawns, all in order to achieve this ‘perfect status quo’. And who knows, in a person in your case, if it all goes south, what does it matter, huh? You could simply say you were coerced by Lysandre’s delusional vision, throw him under the proverbial bus, and be ready in time for the afternoon news and just as you would put it, everyone would be ignorant of it.”

“BLIZZARD FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME!” Malva shrieked. The Charizard once again roared and shifted out from down below. Malva loses her grip and quickly slides to the edge. I charge an ice beam and blasted a portion of the ropes and cables, just shy of her feet. The end of the other side of the ice patch snaps of, leaving the Charizard to slam into the ground. It was okay, but still angry that it was still tangled and paralyzed.

Malva laid there with a look of shock, looking back seeing how close she was to the edge, then slowly looked back up at me, my back turned at her. “You will be shamed for everything you are Malva. A fraud. You’ll return to Kalos, put on trial for destroying the beauty and peace of Kalos, conspiring with the likes of Lysandre and Ein, propagating discourse through the media, and for it you won’t see the light of day for years until your long since old and gray to the point no one will recognize you. If they bother to remember you that is after they find out your involvement in all of this.” I said. As I spoke, Malva shoved her glasses back up the bridge of her nose and managed to free her leg from the cables and ropes that binded her leg. “Of course, that’s perhaps your best case scenario. Worst case, you’ll be deemed a traitor and you’ll find yourself at the nearest gallows or firing squad to perish a traitor’s death.” Malva stood back up, taking note to a tool nearby. A cement spade. She picked it up, looking dead back at me, my back still at her. “I wouldn’t try that if I were you.” She reared back, as if to toss the spade at me as if some sort of knife. I quickly whipped my hand up. The ice patch that formed to break the ropes formed into a tiny pillar. I quickly then clenched my fist to detonate the Ancientpower attack, which knocked Malva off balance. I then rushed over, grabbing Malva by her shirt as the tips of her toes was the only thing that was touching the third floor, she looked down below, seeing where her Charizard was still struggling between the cables and paralysis then looked back up at me, staring at her dead in the eyes.

“You wouldn’t dare.” She said.

“You know? There are a lot of things I thought I wouldn’t do in this war.” I said. I then let go. Malva’s eyes went wide as she flailed and began her descent down to the ground below. A few seconds later she slammed on the dirt, flat on her back with the most stunned look on her face. I could still sense her. She was still alive. She was going to need medical attention though. In the distance, I saw the Rockets finally coming over. Probably seeing or hearing the commotion over this way…I’d let them deal with her now. She was done. “Porygon-Z…let’s go. We got a war to finish.” I said, rushing off.

Aile fell down to her knees as the boost of energy had ended, leaving her exhausted. She used her staff to keep herself at least somewhat upright as she wanted to so dearly cling to that energy and keep it for herself. It was incredible to her once she started to use those abilities, the ability to enter the field of battle herself and not being just a gnat to get in the way while everyone else did something to actually hinder the enemy. To have that feeling leave meant that she would be relegated back down to that previous level, and she didn’t want that to happen. Not that she had a choice in the matter.

Korriban would bring down its protective rock wall from around its trainer once the Regirock saw that the immediate threat was over, Ulla flying around to recover everyone’s health. Her Pokémon would return right after to see their trainer in a mix of frustration and sulking, despite the victory Snagem had achieved. Tatooine would understandably be the most worried, and she darted over and put her claws on her slounder, shaking her trainer gently to try and get her attention. “Gooon?”

“I… I want that power back,” Aile snarled, punching the ground. “It was nice, great even, to finally not feel powerless in a group of powerhouses. I swear, I’d-”

“Gon! Fly gon flyfly gonfly! Flygon!” The dragon would point out towards the frozen battlefield, hoping to get her to understand that, just maybe, getting all of that power at once might not be a good idea, even without knowing how they got it.

“Tati, if I had that power, then people wouldn’t dare lay a hand on my family or anyone I cared about. I’d be able to protect them from being taken and used as bargaining chips for a Pokémon I have or whatever skill they want or whatever it is. Because they wouldn’t dare risk my wrath. Is that so much to ask for?! I at least held back still! I wanted to incapacitate, not kill, Tati!

A deep, rumbling voice would enter the trainer’s head just then as she angily stood up to confront her Flygon, the glowing circles on her face growing blighter for a moment. ‘Are you sure you would keep that restraint over time?’

“I… I’d like to hope so, at least.” She turned up to look at her legendary before rubbing her face. “Ugh… Everyone, you’re going back into your respective balls for now. We can’t be done yet.” She recalled her Pokémon, then grabbed her staff from the hole in the ground that she made when bringing the staff down as Rocket grunts ran in to start building up a defense. “Hmph. Could have used that sooner,” she muttered to herself as she found herself a wall to lean against, closing her eyes and sulking a bit further.

Finally, the backup would arrive for the fallen Flares. Aile would open one of her eyes and aim it towards the towering figure that was Zygarde Complete, finally standing up and dusting herself off. “The beast I helped create. In a way, maybe. I…” She shook her head. “Dammit, I need to not dwell on that right now. I’ve got a job to do at least.” She would charge forward with the other teams, running into the fray and trying to break through past them, hoping to save her Pokémon until she got near to Zygarde.

Unfortunately, that would not be the case as a white suited Flade grabbed a hold of her bomber jacket and pulled her backwards. “Well, well, what do we have here? Just can’t make up your mind on who to support, can you, Baroness?”

“Gyah!” The turncoat would nearly lose her balance as her momentum was halted, quickly whipping her head around to glare at at the man who stalled her running. “Tch. I don’t need to explain myself to you.”

“I think you do.” He let go of her jacket and sent out a Mightyena, who growled at Aile. “See there were rumors floating around that it was the young, rebellious Baroness who helped to mitigate damages at the Tower of Mastery, even saving the prince. Now she reappears as our enemy, fighting against Kalos, the region she wanted to protect.”

“You don’t represent Kalos,” she spat, narrowing her eyes to a point where it was nearly impossible to see her eyes, or at least discern the color of them. “You represent Lysandre and his interests. And as for me, I will protect my home region with my life. As long as Kalos still stands, I will fight to protect her from external threats. However, I refuse to stand for an unprovoked invasion of another sovereign, stable region.” A Pokéball of Aile’s own would be thrown out, letting the Skarmory inside out. “How does this kind on invasion show the noble heart of Kalos?”

“We’re here to make the world a beautiful place, united under Kalos one region at a time! Mightyena, Thunder Fang!”

“Oh please, do tell me how war, especially this,” she gestured to the frozen wasteland around them, “is beautiful. Revan, take to the skies!” Her Skarmory would comply, stretching its wings and taking to the skies above, easily dodging the Mightyena’s electrified fangs. “Let’s start off with some Spikes, get a head start on other ‘mons.”

“Mightyena, wait to strike until that bird gets close to landing, then roast it!” The lighting in the wolf’s mouth would shift into fire as it patiently waited until any part of Revan was close enough to bite. It would get the opportunity as the Skarmory shed some of his more blunted wings onto the ground to act as caltrops. The Mightyena would leap up and bite at Revan’s leg, Revan giving an ear piercing scream in response.

“Hold on for as long as you can! Keep applying that fire!”

“Revan, focus! That Mightyena’s on your leg, so climb and use Slash!” Revan would climb higher into to the sky again at his trainer’s command, waiting until there was a considerable distance between them and the ground before he began slashing at the wolf’s head. Despite the wolf’s tenacity, eventually the lupine would yelp in pain, letting go of Revan’s leg and starting its plummet to the ground below. The Skarmory would stare at the Mightyena as it fell while his trainer would stare the admin down.

“Your move. This is war after all.”

“What the… Merde, return!” He would recall the wolf before it would make its sudden landing upon the feather spiked land. The admin would leer back at Aile, growling. “Gah… You’re the spitting image of your mother with that stare, you know. And you have the same way with birds, as well.”

“I am a Wyndra, after all.”

“There’s always one way to clip a bird’s wings, though. Manectric!” He’d send the yellow and blue hound out, only for it to yelp as one of its paws would get sliced on one of the feathers. “This is going to be a pain… Discharge!”

“Revan, climb! Try to avoid it!” Revan would attempt to climb to avoid the electricity, but as electricity is wont to to, one of the best conductors for it was a flying metal creature, and Revan would be caught up in the Discharge and come crashing down. He wasn’t out yet as the bird stood up shakily, but that -did- leave an impact. “Hell… Screw it. Revan, you want to go down fighting?” The bird turned to her and nodded, with something twinkling in his eyes that was almost… amusement? Aile was momentarily confused before remembering that this Skarmory was from Orre, and was probably raised in the Coloseums. Probably the rougher ones. The one in Phenac was for the namby-pamby pussies anyways who liked their appearance and spectacles more than letting their Pokémon go all out, from what she had seen. “Alright then,” she said, breaking out of her momentary reminiscing, “Steel Wing!”

“Manectric, go in for the kill. Wild Charge!” The two would charge at each other at the same time, Manectric bristling with electric energy and Revan with silver glowing wings. The two would collide at the same time, with both of them tumbling to the ground in a heap after heir attacks. While Manectric was still able to stand up after taking the hit, Revan was down for the count, making only weak, failing attempts to stand. Aile would nod and recall her steel bird, giving a weak smile to the ball that contained it.

“Well, you did well enough, Revan. Lived up to your demeanor, at least. Now then…”

“So, Baroness, what bird will you send out next for my Manectric to chew up?”

Aile would raise an eyebrow, looking from the electric hound to its trainer and back. “First, your puppy isn’t looking in top shape, considering. Secondly… You’ll find I’m more grounded than the rest of my kin. Sarlaac! Come on out and show him why, use Earth Power!”

“Wait, what?! You had a Flygon, but I assumed, with that Skarmory… Gah! Manectric, dodge and… Bite it or something!” The appearance of an odd looking pile of sand with child’s shovel and a huge gamping hole for a mouth took the admin by surprise, who was apparently expecting more flying types. Sarlaac, however, didn’t hesitate to attack when her trainer commanded, causing a wellspring of earthen energy to explode out from underneath the Manectric. The electric dog would fly backwards, landing on its feet… initially. Its feet would give out for a moment as it slumped forward, the poor dog losing its energy to fight quick.

“End it, Sarlaac. Shadow Ball,” Aile calmly commanded. The Sandygast nodded in her own way and formed a shadowy, wispy ball of dark purple energy in her mouth, firing it off as the Manectric charged forward, trying to still fulfill its trainers most recent command. However, the ball would be fired before it staggered over, smacking Manectric square in the back and causing it to fall over.

“Geh… So, you turn your back on your family-”

“Shut your ~/~ face, you son of a ~/~,” Aile venomously spat, interrupting the admin before he could continue his taunting. “You don’t get to chide me on what I’ve done! I was always the shiny Mareep, but that sure as hell doesn’t mean that I abandoned my family or my heritage, or anything like that!”

“Ooooh. Looks like I’ve pressed a button, haven’t I? You can’t take the fact that that’s what you’ve done by siding with this lot?” He’d send out a third Pokémon with a smirk, revealing a Houndoom. “I mean, that is what you’ve done. Houndoom, Crunch.”

“Sarlaac, Sandstorm! Try to hell the hell out of there!” The Sandygast would create a burst of sand as the hell hound charged, the sand swirling into the air as it created a more localized Sandstorm, Sarlaac’s ability starting to kick in now. The mass of sand that the Houndoom thought was the sentient pile of sand turned out to just be a larger gathering of sand in the air as it blew away, the hound snarling as he looked around for its target. “Thank Arceus… Iron Defense,” Aile called out, praying Sarlaac’s luck would hold.

“Keep hunting down that damned pile of sand! Crunch it until it can’t reform!” The Houndoom would almost gleefully carry out his task, biting down on larger bits of sand until he finally landed his jaws onto the pile of sand, with Sarlaac unable to get her Iron Defense off before the jaws landed onto her. A large squeal would be heard as the jaws landed, causing her trainer to cringe.

“Hell… Dammit, Sarlaac! Sarlaac?” Even she had a hard time seeing her little ravenous sand pile, the Sandstorm working well for hiding her otherwise. She wouldn’t get any response, squeal or otherwise, so Aile assumed the worst and pointed out Sarlaac’s Pokéball, recalling her Pokémon.

“Heh, that didn’t work out so well for you now, did it? Having a fresh Pokémon go up against your little… sand... thing… What else do you have,” he taunted through the Sandstorm, shielding his eyes to the best of his ability.

“Plenty. Voort!” Aile’s third Pokémon would be sent out, the hulking form of the Nidoking appearing through the sand. “Earthquake!”

“Flamethrower! Burn it out!” The Houndoom would take a deep breath, but before he could get out the stream of flame, he would start to lose his footing as Voort slammed down his foot and caused an Earthquake in the localized area. The hell hound would stumble around, cutting his paws on more of the bladed feathers from Revan in the process. Finally, he would get off his Flamethrower, but it was unsteady, and merely grazed the Nidoking as the flames wobbled by.

“Alright. Let’s go, end it with a Poison Jab!”

“Tch… Inferno! Go all out!” It was becoming apparent that the admin was getting a bit annoyed that she was putting up so much of a fight, with him having his Houndoom pull out a move like that. However, to pull off something like that, it took a decent bit of time to charge it up, which gave Voort enough time to charge in with an arm dripping poison from his spikes. As he connected with his jab, however, Houndoom opened his maw to unleash his Inferno at the same time, both of them getting blasted and harmed. Houndoom would be slammed into the ground, unable to get up, but Voort would suffer a burn on his shoulder as he recoiled. Houndoom was recalled as Voort grumbled, looking at his arm. “Hmph. Well, you’re turning out to be a bit more competent than I was expecting for a noble.”

“I wasn’t gifted a Regirock, you know. Or did you forget that little tidbit?”

“Ah… Well, hell. Good to know you’re going easy on me,” he grunted, his eyes narrowing. Apparently, the potential of facing a Regirock dimed his spirits a bit. “Let’s start bringing out my big guns then… Drapion!” The Pokémon summoned next roared and glared at Voort, its tail pincer clicking angrily. “Ice Fang!”

“Voort, go for another Earthquake!” Voort would visibly wince as he wound up for his attack, the burn bothering him greatly. He’d still release it, though, as he slammed down his foot, but the Drapion, despite also being cut up by those feathers(those were really starting to become annoying) as he came out, kept his footing as he skittered over to Voort, chomping down on his arm with frosted fangs. The trainer cursed as she saw his wobbling, knowing that her Nidoking was not in a good way and recalled him before more damage was done. “Tch. Not bad on your end. I can’t remember the last time I had a battle like this.” Aile would look down on her belt and be shocked momentarily. Tatooine and Korriban were two of her remaining Pokémon, that she knew. The third, however, was one Shadow Zoroark. Arkana. She mentally cursed a string of profanities that would probably make some of the sailors at Gateon Port blush. Well, if the port still stood. She replaced Rancor for Revan, that she knew, but her plan was to also bring bring Eisley or Kayvaan. Instead, she now had one volatile fox who was probably a bit pissy at her, if their last encounter was anything to go by. Well, time to see where this would go with Tatooine. “Alright, Tati, you’re up!” Aile would send out her dragon next, the Flygon’s wings creating a loud, melodic humming as she flew in the waning Sandstorm.

“So, the Flygon finally makes its appearance. Drapion, show off your poisonous bite!”

“Tatooine, climb and dance! Let’s try to finish this in one fell swoop!” The Flygon would nod and fly high up out of Drapion’s reach, flitting and dancing around, growing faster and faster while doing so. “Now, land so hard you cause an Earthquake, Tati!”

“Keep at it. That things’s going to land eventually!” Tatooine would narrow her eyes as she stared at the Drapion, deciding to find a place to land that would make the Drapion work for his attack. The Drapion would rush over as fast as he could once he saw where she was going to land, but she still managed to get the Earthquake off, thanks to the Sandstorm obscuring vision juuust enough. This one, Drapion felt, though the giant scorpion would still power his way over to Tatooine and chomp down on her tail, now with more toxic seasoning. Blissfully, it seemed like that was the worst of it as she still managed to break free early enough, but that still hurt. “Right, this Sandstorm has got to be ending soon… Go for a Cross Poison now!”

“Tati, keep high up and use Earth Power! We’ve still got more to go, I bet!” Tatooine nodded and took off into the air once more, just barely getting out of range of Drapion as he launched himself at the sand dragon. As the ogre like scorpion attempted to reach Tatooine, a wellspring on ground energy would burst out from under him, blasting him backwards towards his trainer.

“Tch. Must be getting to the bottom of the pool if you’re using that one. Trying to save that Regirock for Zygarde? I won’t give you that chance. Still have one last trick up my sleeve.” The final (apparently) Pokemon he’d send out would be a Dragalge, the seaweed looking seahorse looking mighty pissed off. “Start off with a Dragon Pulse, Dragalge!”

“Hell,” Aile muttered, cursing the appearance of the dragon type, “try to dodge and counter with a Dragonbreath!”

Tatooine started darting around, trying to keep Dragalge on her toes, so to speak, and unable to get a lock on. Unfortunately, she gave the seaweed dragon the perfect opportunity to attack as she let off her Dragonbreath, dodging out of the way to launch off the Dragon Pulse. As Tatooine corrected to still hit Dragalge, she would be hit by the pulse of draconic energy, losing altitude for a moment.

“Geh,” Aile grunted as the Sandstorm died off, “Tati, time to put the eggs in one basket. Outrage!”

“Knock back that dragon! Dragon Tail!” Dragalge nodded and waited patiently as Tatooine charged in, brimming with draconic energy just waiting to be let out. Once the Flygon was close enough, the seahorse would whip around and slam her tail into Tati, sending the dragon flying straight back into her trainer. Thankfully, Aile would have the reflexes and sense to recall her before the dragon barreled into her, but that was probably it for her oldest sidekick.

“Well, I suppose that leaves one last Pokémon of yours. You know, at the very least, I can say that we drew you to-”

“False.” Aile stared at the Great Ball she brought out, taking her breath. “I need all the firepower I can get for Zygarde. So, I have one other I was holding back for a desperate measure.” The woman pressed the button on the ball to send out the one Pokémon she was hestiant to- Arkana. The Zoroark appeared and stretched her neck around, taking in her surroundings.

“Well well well. Desperate enough to let me out, are we? Hm. And in unfamiliar surroundings. My, oh my, you were desperate,” she spoke smoothly, not bothering with an illusion or hiding the fact that a Pokémon was speaking clear human. “Ah, another victim, ooooh.”

“Wh-wh-what the hell?!” The man took a step back, a motion seemingly mimicked my his Dragalge. “You have that psychotic of a Pokémon?! And how the hell is it talking human?!”

“Oh, you poor thing. Zoroarks are always full of tricks. And… how did that saying go? Omaewa mo… shinderu? Or something like that. Whatever those kids were saying earlier in the year. You were screwed the moment she sent me out.” The Zoroark chuckled and looked down at her claws like a vain woman looking at her nails. Almost like she was taunting her opponents, saying they weren’t worth her time.

“Dragalge, Hydro Pump!”

“Arkana- hell! Dammit, wait!” Before Aile could issue a command of her own, Arkana had vanished, no doubt using her Illusion ability, and the Hydro Pump would miss by miles. After a time when the collective lot of them would try to find at least some sign of her, Dragalge would jerk around suddenly, only to meet a bipedal black fox ramming herself into the dragon, surrounded with that malevolent shadow energy. Dragalge would find herself barely able to get up, and worse, her attitude worsening.

“What the? What did your Pokémon do to Dragalge,” the admin screamed, recalling his dragon before anything worse happened.

“Oh, what any Shadow Pokémon does. Infect others,” Arkana chimed in, not lettign Aile have any chance to talk. “Oh, I see the shock and despair on your face, but don’t worry. I’m sure she was going to try her best to not have me infect your little seahorse. But she underestimated me. I’m not your average Shadow Pokémon.” A red beam would attempt to recall the Pokémon instead, Aile trying to use the fox’s monologue to her advantage, but the beam just did… nothing. Absolutely nothing. “Did you think I would really be here, little miss Baroness? Really? No no no, I’m using this chance for my freedom. You’re not going to keep me penned up, because you think I’m sick. I mean, who says I am? I think that… I quite like this, actually. Ta ta for now. Or… Au revoir, I believe it is in Kalosian? I’ll see you around either way.” The image of Arkana would disappear in a shimmer of sparkles, leaving no one else but Aile and the Flare admin.

“Hell… I underestimated her cunning,” Aile muttered, running a hand through her hair.

“Hmph. You were seriously planning on letting that Pokémon out and thought you could control her?” A staff head would wind up in his gut after those words, followed up by getting swept off of his feet with a staff swing. “Gah!”

“I had different plans. Now. I have questions of my own. The other Wyndras? Elise, Alexandre, Evandros. Where are they being held?” Now the tip of her staff would be pointed at him while he was on the ground, specifically at his throat.

“What? I don’t know! Honestly! If we even did have them, why would us soldiers know? That would be something for the domestic members!” He put his hands up, in a vain attempt to try and have Aile not hurt him in any capacity.

“Huh…” The former turncoat considered his words, tapping her lower lip. “You might have a point. Either way. I won't be needing to deal with you much longer.” The woman eyed some Magma grunts coming her way, and without another word, took swing at the admin’s head, knocking him out for at least a couple minutes. With that, she darted on ahead, hoping to make it to Zygarde in time. The issue of a loose Arkana was certainly on her mind, but she could only pray that with a legendary stomping around that could also purify Shadow Pokémon, she wouldn’t be AS big of an issue. Hopefully.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
The runaway fox would be sitting on a canopy in the city, watching Aile as she ran towards Zygarde, a device in her paws. Of course, if anyone looked, there would be no one there. She wasn’t going to let herself be seen unless she wanted to. “Hm. I guess this is this region’s version of the Holo Caster. A bit more boring, I suppose, but we aren’t in Kalos, so I doubt they have a system for those here. I wonder… Oh! This looks promising.” She pressed on a number that she found while looking through the contacts list, a voice answering almost immediately.
“Yes,” the voice answered bluntly, with a tone of irritation.
“So, you lot are the central command for Flare here,” she’d simply ask, waiting for how they’d respond.
“What? Who is this? You don’t sound like the one this Xtranceiver was assigned to,” the voice yelled. Good. They had a number and a name associated with this thing. They weren’t complete idiots.
“Well, for now, call me a concerned patriot. And how would you like the location of one Baroness Alysandra Wyndra?”
“How do we know that this isn’t a trap?”
“Simple. That ~/~ has pissed me off for the last time, and now I’m ready to make her life hell.”
“... We’re listening.” A wide smile crept onto Arkana’s face at that. Looks like it was time to start in with the fun.
Leon felt the rush of his channeling abilities leave him as he and Roselia felt exhausted for a moment. But then, they were met with a wave of warmth thanks to Ulla. He looked over at Lucario as he was back at his original form instead of his Mega form. ”Ulla? Are you okay?” He waited for a response back. No answer, he looked at his war path. ”I’m glad Ulla wasn’t near….Ulla. Do you copy?” Leon would keep trying as he was getting worried. He looked at his wounds as they were still being healed. He bit his lower lip. ”Ulla. Stop your ability now. That is an order.” He said over his SNAG. He started walking around to see if he could find his little sister anywhere as Lucario was looking around while trying to sense her aura.
Twenty minutes passed as neither of them were able to find Ulla. ”Ulla I swear to Arceus...you better have not fallen asleep on the dang battlefield.” He said as he started scratching his head a bit stressed. Lucario ears then perked up as he looked up to the sky. ”What is it Lu-” Leon then looked up himself to see swarms of Pidgey, Starly, and many other Pokemon flee the forest. He watched as the Pokemon passed right by him going for cover. ”...Of course this isn’t over.” Leon was in the clear to see Zygarde, the Order Pokemon. Aggravated, Leon let out a loud groan. ”Just this mission is putting my motto at risk.” He then looked at Lucario. ”I know I’m not Ulla. But will you join me this one time? My fight style is different from hers if you haven’t noticed.” Lucario hesitated for a second. He really wanted to keep looking for Ulla, he was really worried where she was. But, he had to trust that the other Pokemon would keep her safe. The fighting Pokemon nodded. Leon did as well as he pulled out the rest of his Pokemon. ”Everybody I’m gonna need your help!” Pyroar, Litten, and Zubat popped out. ”Temporarily. We are going to work our butts off. So, let’s go.” Leon took out his hoverboard as Litten climbed on his shoulder while Roselia sat in the front. ”Into Black City!”
Leon was racing into the city as all of his Pokemon were either Poisoning or burning his enemies he was passing by. Lucario would lead the way as their main focus was to head to the shelters they sent the civilians they helped. Hoping, praying almost, they would find Ulla somewhere in the city. They were then stopped in their tracks as there was a crowd of a mixture of Aqua,Flare, and Galatic in their way. One of them told their Pokemon; a Taurus to get Leon off his board. The Taurus then charged at Leon as the Bull Pokemon flipped the man off his hoverboard. He quickly grabbed onto Roselia before she was flung somewhere else. He landed on the ground as he held Roselia and Litten in a protective manner. He then got up quickly as he looked at them both. ”You two alright?” Both of the small Pokemon nodded as the bigger Pokemon; Lucario and Pyroar were both growling at the group. There was a total of five enemies. Two Flare, two Galatic, and one Aqua. They each had a Pokemon as they surrounded Leon and his Pokemon. Leon was behind Pyroar and Lucario glaring at all of the grunts. ”...Get ready everyone….ATTACK!”
Leon, his Pokemon, and Lucario were fighting for their lives. They were facing against a Taurus, Weavile, Glameow, Dustox, and a Ivysaur. ”Roselia Poison Jab Taurus! Pyroar Flame Charge Dustox! Zubat Wing Attack Glameow! Litten Double Kick Ivysaur! Lucario, after that Weavile with Metal Claw!” All of the Pokemon did as the man commanded as he was mainly focusing on his battle with Litten against the Ivysaur. When Litten launched his double kick, the Bulbasaur quickly used Vine Whip and started slamming Litten to the ground. Litten bit the Ivysaur’s vine as it was being slammed as the Ivysaur released his hold on the cat. ”Nice job. Fire Fang.” Litten quickly took this time while Ivysaur was paying more attention to his hurt vine to charge up to the Seed Pokemon to bite it’s flower on top of its body. Ivysaur started shaking its body as Poison Powder was falling off. Litten then let go as he started scratching his face to get the Poison Powder off of it’s face. Ivysaur took this moment of advantage to use Bullet Seed. Litten was getting pulverized by the seeds. ”Litten you can do it! Let’s finish this with Ember!” Litten then started to run around in a circle and started shooting balls of fire at the Ivysaur as it was clashing with it’s Bullet Seed. While Litten was spinning around, Ivysaur started to get dizzy spinning as well. Leon then took out a Pokeball and loaded it into his Snag. ”Go Pokeball.” Leon tossed the Pokeball at Ivysaur as it was sucked up in the Pokeball. It landed on the floor as Leon quickly picked it up and also Litten as it clicked shut. The Ivysaur’s original trainer was aggravated as he charged at Leon, intending to tackle him down to give back his Pokemon. Leon quickly noticed this as he stepped to the side and chopped his shoulder very hard and tripped him to make him fall to the ground.
Leon then looked over to Zubat as it was still facing the Glameow. The Glameow seemed to be pretty beaten up, but so did Zubat. ”I believe in you Zubat. Get em with Poison Fang.” Leon said in a relaxed voice as Zubat seemed more calm when he heard his trainer’s voice. He then did as he said as his fangs started glowing purple as he went in for a bite. Glameow started purring loudly as its paws started being covered in a dark shadow as it used Shadow Claw on Zubat. Zubat was flung back as he turned his body in order to instead being flung back even more, it would be towards the Glameow. He then bit down on the Glameow’s tail as it started trying to fling the bat off. ”Venoshock.” Zubat then amplified the Poison from his Poison fang with Venoshock. As the poison started settling in the Glameow’s system. It then started to slow down it’s running as it laid down as it started to close its eyes. Zubat finally let go and went over to Leon and perched on his shoulder. The grunt recalled his Glameow as he ran off.
The man then started to look around for his other Pokemon as he was able to spot Pyroar intimidating the Dustox. It released a mighty Roar as the Dustox was so frightened, that it recalled back in it’s Pokeball and came out a Girafarig. It’s trainer then told it to use Psybeam on Pyroar as it shot a pink beam at Pyroar as it knocked him back but felt someone stop him. The lion looked back at to see Leon, Pyroar had a smug look on his face. So did Leon. ”C’mon Pyroar, you’re gonna let this little thing beat you up like this?” Pyroar took a better stance thanks to Leon as he was snarling at the Girafarig. ”Crunch go.” Pyroar started jumping in a zig-zag pattern towards the Girafarig. Girafarig used Psybeam again to stop Pyroar but the lion stopped and made it his prancing but then started again as he pounced and used Crunch. It was super effective. Seeing how Pyroar was so close, the giraffe used Zen Headbutt as Pyroar crunched down. Pyroar released his opponent as he flinched. Girafarig then used Double Kick but as Pyroar skid backwards. ”Flamethrower.’ Pyroar took in a deep breath as he let out a giant Flamethrower. He aimed it to be surround the Girafarig so it couldn’t see. The trainer tried to call out to them, but the roaring sounds of the flames were cancelling out the noise. ”End it with Flame Charge.” The grunt would hear a loud smack from the flames. The Girafarig would be knocked out of the flames unconscious. The trainer recalled it’s Pokemon as all of them went looking for the others.
Roselia was weakened by the Tauros and Leon was feeling it slightly. Being bonded by their channeling, he was able to feel it slightly even though they haven’t finished their training. Tauros was getting ready to ram right through Roselia. The flower was panting as Leon slid right beside her just in time. ”Petal Dance on the ground! Then use Mega Drain!” Roselia quickly shot her petals towards the ground as she was launched into the air. Leon quickly moved out of the way of the Tauros as Roselia ws now above Tauros. She then used Mega Drain against the bull. With sucking a bit of life of the bull, she regained some health that made her feel a lot better. Tauros then started charging once again, Roselia braced for impact as she was waiting for the last second and so was Leon. As the bull was charging, the Poison channeler could see that it’s tail was glowing. ”Roseila stop it with Petal Dance!” Roselia then pointed her arms towards the bull as she shot petals at it. But it was too close to slow it down as the bull swung it’s body, whipping Roselia with an Iron Tail sending her flying. Pyroar quickly jumped up and was able to catch Roselia in his mouth. When he landed, he gently let Roselia down. The flower thanked the gentle lion as Leon petted Pyroar. ”We are gonna have to play it smarter, distract it with Petal Dance once more.” Roselia then started performing a dance as the petals started to surround her to the point where she couldn’t be seen. Tauros was circling the flower as it’s trainer told it to use Shock Wave. As the wave of electricity hit the petals, they started to fall revealing Roselia pointing her bouquets right in front of the Pokemon. ”Poison Sting! Then combo it with Poison Jab!” Roselia nodded as she rapidly started using Poison Sting at its face. When the bull was far back enough, she stopped as she launched a fury of jabs at the bull. It then finally fell on it’s side unconscious. The grunt quickly recalled his Pokemon and was about to run at Leon to attack him. But then he saw Leon’s Pokemon all glare at him as Leon picked up the injured flower. ”I’m sorry I took so long.” Leon then looked at the grunt and started to approach him with a menacing look. ”If you don’t want me to rip out your vocal cords….I suggest you run.” He said in a very low voice. With his tail between his legs, the grunt ran off in fear. Leon sighed as he looked around. ”Roselia. Is Lucario nearby?” The flower shook her head. ”I told him to chase after that Weavile….Could they…” He shook his head as he just pulled out his hoverboard. ”They are probably close to the shelter if anything.”
The Poison Channeler was zooming pass several different battles against the Alliance and some other bad grunts. He didn’t really care, his main concern. Was Ulla, and the civilians that were in the shelter. As he was getting closer to the evacuation center, he noticed Lucario blocking the way from Weavile and it’s trainer. He seem pretty beat up as he’s been fighting by himself for the longest. Lucario then jumped over the grunt and the Weavile to land next to Leon. ”Sorry I took so long. Don’t tell Ulla please, I’m sure she would be furious.” With that, Lucario could only chuckle. ”Oh? So Lucario isn’t your Pokemon then? This will be interesting.” The flare grunt said as the Weavile sharpened her claws. ”Weavile Metal Claw!” ”You too Lucario! Metal Claw.” Both of the Pokemon’s claws started glowing as they charged at each other. Both of them clashed again and again, both of them landing with the same amount of power. Weavile then noticed an opening as she swept Lucario off his feet. Lucario looked back at Leon waiting for a command or a counter. But Leon wasn’t as fast to react like how Ulla was. ”Night Slash!” Weavile’s claws then turned black as she slashed Lucario. Lucario was able to evade it slightly but still took some damage, he was once again standing next to Leon. ”Sorry, I didn't react fast enough.” Both of them looked at the Flare grunt with their Weavile as it used Screech. Leon’s Pokemon covered their ears and so did they. Lucario watched Weavile get closer while still screeching, he was getting a bit aggravated that Leon couldn’t work well with him. He then made an Aura Sphere as he launched it at Weavile, it landed as it stopped her head in her tracks. ”Ice Beam!” Weavile while on the ground shot an Ice Beam at Lucario. Lucario wasn’t paying attention at the time as he thought he won, but Leon was able to notice it. ”Lucario move to the right!” Leon shouted as Lucario moved slightly to the right as he barely missed the Ice Beam. A bit shocked he looked at Leon. ”I’m sorry. I know we aren’t in sync, but we are gonna have to be.” Lucario nodded as Weavile ran closer to Lucario as he backed up a bit. ”High Kick!” Lucario was a bit confused out of all things to do, a high kick? ”Lucario trust me!” Leon begged as Lucario rolled his eyes, he waited for the right moment as the Weavile was trying to punch Lucario in the face. He was dodging each and every blow as he bent down as he high kicked the Weavile in the chest launching her. ”Keep her in the air!” Lucario was even more confused as he didn’t say any moves. Just. Keep her in the air? He jumped in the air as he was now facing Weavile. ”Focus Punch!” From this height, there was no dodging it. ”Here we go! Bone Rush!” Lucario summoned a bone staff as he smacked the Weavile several times away so he wouldn’t be hit with the Focus Punch. Due to gravity, both Pokemon started falling. ”Swing her under you!” Lucario understood what Leon was finally doing as he did what he was told. Unfortunately, one of Weavile’s Focus Punch landed. Lucario was stunned as he was holding his gut where he was punched. ”Close Combat!” ”Ice Beam!” Both of them launched their moves as a puff of smoke covered the air from landing on the ground. When the smoke finally cleared, Both of them were on the ground laying there. Lucario painfully sat up but Weavile was knocked out. The Flare grunt bit his lower lip as he recalled his Pokemon. Leon walked over to Lucario and offered to help him up. Lucario looked at him and merely chuckled under his breath as he took Leon’s hand and got up. ”Not bad for our first battle together huh?”
Leon recalled all of his Pokemon except for Roselia and Lucario. He then gave a regular potion to Lucairo. ”Here. This will help with your wounds.” Ulla’s Pokemon started spraying himself with the it. They made it to the shelter where they had all the civilians stay while the war kept going. Most of them evacuated while others decided to stay. Leon looked around, hoping Ulla would be here to take care of some of the people. He noticed the some of the Alliance in here wounded while others were making sure civilians were okay and to remain calm. He sighed ”I’m glad everyone is okay but…” He looked outside again seeing the Zygarde. ”....I hope Ulla and everyone else is too..”
||Ulla Hanabi||
Ulla dropped her Channeling abilities about five minutes after Sub’s effects wore off. Just to make sure, that everyone was able to heal fully. When she dropped her ability, she was completely exhausted. She wasn’t able to heal herself, so she looked like a ghost. She rested her head on Togekiss as he was feeling a bit drained, but not as much as his trainer. Her other Pokemon that were with her started nuzzling against her to try and keep her conscious. ”I-I might have pushed it a little too long….s-sorry...but...let me rest my eyes….f-for a second.” The little girl said as her eyes were really heavy, even she was trying to fight it slightly. All of her Pokemon looked at one another not sure what to do as Dragonair let out a small breath onto Ulla’s skin. It was supposed to be an Ice Beam but Dragonair controlled it enough where it would be enough as just a cold breeze. Ulla shivered as she sat up shaking her head. ”I-I’m awake….kinda.” She said as she started to slap herself on the face. She looked around to see how much destruction they all caused. That was enough to wake her up, but she couldn’t shake off being mentally exhausted. ”....Look how much we’ve done to this once peaceful forest…” Togekiss then landed on the ground for Ulla to walk. Once landed, Ulla would try talk walk. But she stumbled as she was to weak to even do so. Dartrix quickly landed next to her and helped her up. ”T-Thank you so much...I’m gonna have to rely on you guys a little more right now.” Dartrix nodded as he helped his trainer backup on Togekiss’s back. Comfey rested on Ulla’s head as she started to heal her trainer with Floral Healing. Even though it was meant for Pokemon it was healing her slightly.
Their first objective was to find someone from Snagem or someone that could help their trainer. ”Ulla? Are you okay?” All of her Pokemon turned to Ulla’s Snag as they were able to hear Leon’s voice. ”Big brother…?” Ulla opens her eyes slightly to her Snag. ”Ulla do you copy?” ”Y-Yes….” The little girl said very weakly, probably wasn’t able to be heard. ”Ulla I swear to Arceus...you better have not fallen asleep on the dang battlefield.” Her Pokemon then looked at one another as they knew what to do. Find her brother. They were about to fly off to find where anyone could be. But then, they were faced by a rush of bird Pokemon flying away from the forest. They were wondering why as they turned to see Zygarde. All were surprised as Ulla peaked a bit to see what was going on. ”O-Oh my god….” She then tapped on Togekiss to start flying towards Black City. ”E-Everyone is in trouble...we need to help them.” The little girl said as she watched the wild Pokemon flee from the city and the forest. They needed to get this done quickly, before...the death toll increases.
All of them were going around Black City, only to here battling amongst everyone. All of them were looking around to see anyone familiar to help them. But, it looks like everyone was needing assistance. Ulla’s Pokemon noticed several of the Alliance fighting, but losing. They would then intervene as they would turn the tables on a few battles. Ulla would sit up as she turned to see the City in uttar war. ”Togekiss. Dazzling Gleam.” Togekiss started glowing as pieces of light started falling off of its body. It changed the battle for the Alliance as they now had the advantage. Once again, they started flying inside the city again, hoping to see a familiar. Ulla noticed a some Flare Grunts focusing on burning down buildings. ”Dragonair Ice Beam! Take out those fires!’ Dragonair started to use Ice Beam to put out the fire. The Flare grunts then turned their attention to Ulla and her Pokemon as their Combusken and Houndoom started to growl. Combusken then started to come up to Ulla using Peck while Houndoom went in for a Crunch. ”T-Togekiss Protect! Dartrix Brave Bird! Dragonair Thunder Wave!” Togekiss made a bubble to protect him and Ulla from Combusken and Houndoom’s attack. Dragonair then released a wave of thunder which made the Combusken and Houndoom paralyzed. Dartrix then sent two Energy Balls straight at the Pokemon. When they connected, the two Pokemon didn’t take that much damage. Togekiss let the Protect down as they all flew higher in the sky. ”Togekiss use Aura Sphere!” Togekiss charged up a large Aura Sphere as they launched it at the grunt’s Pokemon. Once it collided, a large puff of smoke as the Pokemon laid unconscious.
Ulla and her Pokemon then started flying back up to see if they could find anyone, that’s when they realized an ancient ship docked in Undella Bay. They needed to land, anywhere. Anywhere at all so Ulla could rest. Her Pokemon then landed a out of the city. ”No. You guys. We find Lucario, we also find Leon and the others. We are gonna have to go back to the city. Once we get back with them, we will know what to do with that Zyga-” Before she could say anymore, she noticed a group of brothers dressed up in a bit of a superhero costume. She then instructed her Pokemon to hide, as she wasn’t sure who exactly was on her side. And who she had to battle against. They all started to hide behind a building, wondering where the brothers were going. ”Mind telling me why you are peeping on us?” Ulla was startled as one of them in a red suit was behind them. Togekiss and and others quickly stood in front of the weak Ulla. ”Seriously?! I can’t ask a simple question?! Fine!” Resix pulled out a Pokeball and threw it in the air. ”Magcargo Body Slam!”
Dartrix quickly stood in front of Ulla using Protect as Magcargo bounced off. ”Why you-” Ulla pulled out oher last Pokeball as all of her Pokemon were a bit shocked that she even thought about doing so. ”Wai-” ”Resix. What are you doing?” Another one of the brothers came by, but this one. Was wearing green. ”Greesix! This brat was-” ”You were harassing this poor kid? Seriously?” Both of them were arguing. But it was more Resix was yelling, and Greesix was merely speaking in a monotone voice. Ulla leaned on Togekiss even more exhausted, ”You guys...we need to find big brother…” Dartrix helped Ulla back up on Togekiss as she sighed of relief being able to close her eyes. Even with the loud yelling. Resix and his Pokemon finally left Ulla alone as he walked off a bit angered. ”You are too young to be out here. What are you-” Greesix took a closer look at Ulla. The little girl weakly opened her eyes as she noticed he was staring a little bit uncomfortable at her. ”You look...familiar to a women. That I used to know. Her name was Nagi”
"Oh really? The little has-been musician has the right to be the only musical source on a battlefield? Give me a break." The grunt said, rolling her eyes as she spun on her heel to face towards where Aria had landed herself. Noticing the mild surprise on Aria's face, the grunt added, "Oh what, are you supposed to be some obscure musician? We're from the same country and you keep touting yourself as Snagem's spokesperson. I just unfortunately detest you for all of that."
Looking mildly offended at the statement by the female Flare grunt, Aria would slyly look around the battlefield to see that her Inkay was still currently planted up to its eyeballs in the earth and struggling to get out. Alright, so nothing would coming from Hastur for a bit. At least she could see Nalu was floating into position next to her. “Well, it’s not my fault you lack good taste. So shall we see who here has the right to be singing on the battlefield then?” Aria said, doing her best to hide the shake in her one hand. She was going into battle with a Pokemon she had no idea how to effectively use. All she could do was hope that what she said made sense.
The grunt gave a smirk as a watery sheen finished encasing her Brionne, stretching her arms and shoulders as she said, “Nah. I think this is more about showing you what a real musician can do. And as much I hate having to fight, I think I can make the exception here. Brionne, Hyper Voice.”
The blue seal would barely hesitate before unleashing a devastating blast of music, bowling over Aria and sending Nalu sliding backwards from the force of the move alone. While she had certainly been prepared for the sound blast, Aria had not been prepared for how powerful it was. Exactly how healthy was that Brionne right now? Doing her best to focus on the thing, she could see a strange bell hanging off of the thing. What would that thing do?
Well, either way, she needed to respond. And thankfully, the quick part she’d want for it was well covered by Nalu. “Thundershock.” Aria said, doing her best to be heard over the intense noise blast of the Hyper Voice. While Nalu was used to listening for orders over some deafening fights, he also was used to having a double confirmation from a telepathic repeat of the message. So rather than the exceptionally more accurate attack, Nalu instead went ahead with a deafening blast of Thunder that zipped just past the Brionne into the melee behind them.
The grunt gave a smile at this miss. “Aww. Not used to the big bad Alolan Raichu? Don’t worry. Me and Brionne will show you what Alola has to offer. Disarming Voice!” The grunt said, smile crossing her face as she watched an ethereal voice drift out of her Brionne. When Nalu heard the song and began to understand the words, he could be seen as visibly shaken from what he was hearing. While it wasn’t exactly doing physical damage, emotional damage was exceptionally harder to avoid.
Flipping her eyes back over to where Hastur was still struggling in the ground, Aria gave a skittish look before shouting in response, “I’ll show you exactly how much I know about Nalu! Focus Blast!” The small Raichu was quick to response, a ball of brownish energy building in front of it before being fire straight towards where the Brionne was currently sitting. While the Water type attempted a dodge, the blast detonated when it grazed the thing and sent it flying across the small area they were currently dueling around. While it certainly took the blow, Aria could see the injury sustained was already being covered in some water coating while the strange bell began to ring out audibly.
That’s when the concept clicked for Aria. While she had no idea what either thing was, she could tell that they were in use to heal the Pokemon from any of the injuries it sustained. Watching the shift in Aria’s posture with this revelation, the grunt gave another smile. “Aww...Looks like you figured out what I did while we were posturing. What’s a good performance without a capable back-up to maintain the performance? Brionne, Water Pulse.” She said, her Brionne gathering a large amount of water before firing it off in a brightly glowing ball that exploded near the retreating Nalu and Aria.
While Aria would manage to keep her eyes averted from the exploding ball, she could already tell from Nalu’s suddenly tipsy floating that the Water Pulse had knocked his equilibrium completely off kilter. Alright, this was gonna end up being even more difficult. Maybe there was something Nalu could do otherwise? “Nalu, try and get Hastur free!” Aria yelled, looking at the confused Raichu hopefully.
Turning towards where the Inkay was still struggling in the ground, the raichu would glow for a moment before...it disappeared and was replaced by Hastur. The poor Inkay was confused but seemed relatively happy that it had pulled free from its entrapment. While Nalu was not currently planted in the ground, the drunken looking hover that he was currently performing made Aria’s confidence in the Pokemon drop. “Uh….Nalu, help Hastur with his attack. Hastur, use Thunderbolt.”
Across the battlefield, the Flare grunt was too busy trying to determine where Nalu had gone and what had popped up in front of Aria to take advantage of the opening that was offered. It did however give Brionne more time to heal up from its wounds. Unfortunately for Hastur, the Brionne was still quicker on the draw. A Round would erupt from the Fairy type, bludgeoning the squid with pure sound. “C’mon. Can’t prove me wrong with any real music? Guess you are just a bunch of hot air if you can’t even back up your simple little taunts to me with some actual sound.” The grunt sneered, her glee with the ease she was dispatching a Snagem she had a vendetta against driving her forward.
Unfortunately, as Hastur gathered up the charge for his Thunderbolt, the battlefield would shift around them with a yellow glow and jumps of electricity rocketing across it. With a sudden invigorating dose of energy, Hastur unleashed a blinding blast of electricity that only seemed to build as the electricity currently running along the ground leapt up to the blast to empower it. Snapping out of her bout of sadism as she watched her Brionne get lit up like a Christmas tree, the grunt began to re-evaluate her options in the battle at this exact moment.
“Electric Terrain. Damn that little thunder rat. Guess I have to cut the lesson short and just obliterate you. Brionne, Moonblast.” The grunt ordered, her Brionne barking in response before a bright pink glow began to illuminate its paws.
Eyes darting around the battlefield, Aria settled back on Nalu in his somewhat confused looking state. If she could get the little guy to work for her for a bit, she had this battle cinched. But as long as he was acting like this, she was screwed. Only one thing to do. Sticking her fingers to her mouth as she heard the call from the grunt for a Moonblast, she let out a shrill whistle. “Nalu! Speed your way over here and help out! Hastur, Thunderbolt again!” Aria ordered, turning to see the Moonblast about to launch and Hastur’s Thunderbolt only being halfway along.
Aria was accurate in her assessment of the battlefield. Hastur needed someone more speedy to do what was needed for this to succeed.
Thankfully, he was about to get that.
Snapping to focus at the sudden piercing whistle, Nalu was still slightly groggy from the confusing Water Pulse. So he didn’t exactly get the precise intention of Aria’s order. However, he did manage to hear “need’, ‘speed’, and ‘help’. From that, he decided his only course of action was to do something Reno had never requested he try. Channeling his Psychic energy, Nalu felt his own speed draining. And over with Hastur….
A sudden pink glow overtook the small squid, speeding up his movements to a ridiculous degree. So much so, that he suddenly found that his Thunderbolt was fully charged and he had opportunity to be first to the trigger. So he blasted the Brionne in front of him with another massively empowered Thunderbolt that sent the Water type flying into the air from the sheer force of the blast. A position where he quickly met a Great Ball thrown by Aria to Snag the poor Pokemon to her side.
“What…..what the hell!? Give me back my Brionne, you witch!” The Flare grunt roared, charging towards Aria with little care for anything around her. While she might have thought this would be her way to recover her Brionne before Aria could catch the rapidly returning ball, all it succeeded in doing was getting her kicked in the jaw and zapped with more electricity courtesy of Aria and Nalu respectively.
“Well, that was fun. Now lets get out of here before anyone notices their little knock out queen has been KO’d.” Aria told Hastur and Nalu, the trio slowly slinking into the nearby underbrush to slink back to either their side of the battlefield or to where Reno and the others were currently locked into a defensive battle to convert Zac to their side.
The fighting continued to rage in Black City, both sides resigned to old fashioned fisticuffs and Pokemon battles, making for a bloody and horrible fight and all for ownership of one city, however vital to the war's outcome. While the forces of the 'Black Coalition', as Sub called Snagem's alliance with Rocket and other forces, were largely successful in holding back in the Flare invaders and their allies the true threat continued its slow approach. Making its way through White Forest, one earthshaking footstep at a time, came the Order Pokemon himself, Zygarde Complete. Its march was deliberate in how drawn out it was, Lysandre always one for theatrics and gloating, the Flare leader as if wanting to remind the defends how futile their resistance was, that defeat was inevitable.
Regardless of this alleged inevitability several of the Snagems headed straight for the advancing threat that was Zygarde, motivated by the countless battles and victims of this war and hoping to finally put an end to it all here and now. Blizzard was on a war path to find Lysandre, the proverbial head of the beast, while Rhyme and the others faced toward Zygarde. While most saw Zygarde as nothing more than another threat, however insurmountable, the Pachirisu hybrid refused to give up hope that Zac, the Zygarde core all of Snagem had befriended, was still in there and could still be reached. Inspired by the Dark Stone in her hands and her message amplified by Reno, Rhyme called out to Zac with a desperate plea, hoping to get his attention.
-----
Meanwhile, back in the heart of Black City.
"Malaaa!" Screeched a Malamar as it zipped around out of the shadows of an alleyway, bearing down on Aile as it aimed to snatch her up in its tentacles and bind her. "Target located. Proceeding to restrain." A pale man dressed in red with similar red glasses spoke into his headset as he stepped out of the alley and approached Aile and his Malamar. "Someone does not like you, miss Wyndra. It's not often we get a call informing us of where our traitorous escapees have ran off to." Xerosic proclaimed, and while monotone and plain as normal in his tone he almost seemed boastful. "Come, we have much work to do. This war has taught me much and I have a highly experimental Expansion Suit I would like to fit you with. After my last one was stolen and my research data destroyed I am forced to make a new one. Unfortunately my new prototypes keep killing the grunts I use as subjects. I need someone stronger, like yourself."
While Xerosic spoke his Crobat would attempt to sneak in behind Aile, whether or not she was restrained by Malamar, aiming to bite down on her neck and administer a powerful anesthetic its trainer had coated its fangs with in preparation to capture Aile and make her easier to bring back. Hopefully a fellow Snagem was nearby.
-----
On the now frozen southern outskirts of Black City, where the battle rages.
The Flare forces and their allies were doing poorly, making very little, if any headway as Snagem and her allies held fast. At this rate all they could hope for was that Zygarde would arrive soon otherwise their sacrifices would be vain. While the fiendish invaders did not deserve a ray of light in their moment of hopelessness they would still get one as a massive sword-like energy construction came crashing down on a row of Magma grunts and their Pokemon, crushing them, and then swatting away several more Rocket grunts nearby. The creator of the construct would soon be revealed to be a small youthful looking horse-like Pokemon, a single blue horn protruding from its forehead.
Keldeo was what the stories called it, the Colt Pokemon. A once prideful and resolute Pokemon it now stood here with empty eyes and look of defeat despite the sound and crushing blow it just dealt to those grunts. Along with its blank stare there was one other thing strange about the Pokemon; a metallic device appears to have been affixed to its head, a sort of half-helmet that clung to the back of the skull. Along with the arrival of Keldeo were three Malamar which floated around it menacingly, shrieking with glee every now and again.
The Colt Pokemon would not stay still for long as it resumed its rampage, proceeding to ram into three large Pokemon owned by some Magma and Plasma grunts, taking them each out with its single Aqua Jet.
"Subject Resolute is operating at one hundred percent efficiency. No abnormalities detected." A woman dressed in red with purple hair and goggles proclaimed as she followed behind the Pokemon, a similar woman with green hair and goggles following her. "Mable would be pleased. Her adjustments proved to be useful. It's a shame we lost her." The other replied, a Manetric and Liepard walking beside them respectively.
"Indeed, Bryony. At this rate Zygarde may not be needed to take Black City." The purple haired woman pointed out. "Perhaps. However lord Lysandre will not accept even the smallest degree of failure this time. We much ensure his victory with everything we have at our disposal, Celosia." Bryony corrected her.
In White Forest, with Zygarde Complete.
As new threats reared their ugly heads in Black City Zygarde continued to advance, behind him its 'master' riding in a far too clean looking red jeep, another jeep on each side and in front and back of his own as they followed the legend through White Forest. Despite having the best bodyguard one could possibly imagine Lysandre was a paranoid man at this point in the war and elected to have more traditional bodyguards as well, each of the jeep carrying the most powerful trainers in Flare, mostly those of admin rank along with one of Flare's scientists, the woman named Aliana. Malva was original part of their entourage however she insisted on going ahead into Black City to secure the road forward. Lysandre's hesitance to agree to this proved to be sound as they had lost contact with her.
Not wanting anymore surprises or set backs the Flare leader himself had already prepared for battle, a visor affixed to his face, a strange contraption on his forearm, and three drone-like machines hovering above him, the glowing red 'eye' on each of them darting around as if looking for threats at all times. Along with mechanical eyes he also had organic ones on the prowl as several Greninja hoped through the trees around them, guarding Lysandre and his entourage.
Something or someone was out there, he was sure of it. His machines had detected several energy signatures but such readings were worthless with all the fighting going on. For now he had to rely on sight and sound to detect any would-be assassins, and he knew for a fact they were out there.
"Gaaarde!" Zygarde Complete would bellow out as it suddenly began to a complete stop. Despite its wailing the beast would become completely still, except for its upper chest where a 'mouth' existed and was erratically opening and closing just barely, shimmers of light shining through when it did open, only slamming shut just as quick as it opened. Something was wrong with Zygarde, as if some sort of internal war was going on. While this had not happened before it was not surprising consider the composite nature of Zygarde, one of the cores must be in conflict with the others. Why now of all times? Who was responsible for this? How are they? What did they do?
With Zygarde briefly paused so would stop Lysandre's caravan. The admins would immediately exit the jeeps and take on a defensive stance, Pokeballs ready while Lysandre and Aliana took out some computer gear and began to analyze Zygarde, attempting to see what was going on with it. The Greninja also began to hang around, paranoid and waiting for the worse. They were sitting ducks.
Did Rhyme's call, carried by Reno, to Zac work? It must have done something because for now Zygarde was paralyzed. Did the Dark Stone have something to do with it? Did Zekrom make her 'ideals' reality? Regardless if the Snagems were going to do something about it this was their chance.
Aile would be charging forward as fast as she could, trying to catch up to the others. Zygarde still loomed in the distance, and if it got there, they were all probably screwed. “Dammit, I need to grab other Pokémon…. Or heal my own… This hoofing it is for- Yah!” She was so caught up in her own thoughts that the Malamar completely side blinded her, wrapping her up and causing her to drop her staff. The woman would struggle futilely until that voice was heard. Xerosic. She blinked rapidly, processing this. “... Hell. I don’t know how she managed it,” she mumbled, turning her face to the head scientist trying to acquire her. “Gee, I’m looking forward to it,” she spat, dripping with sarcasm. “Seriously, like hell I’d want to play your guinea pig. Not again.” Her hand would strain to try and reach her Master Ball, not realizing that the Crobat was on its way to subdue her further.
