I think a lot of the problem is adults. I remember my grammar being correct A LOT when I was growing up (Mom was a grammar-Nazi, thank goodness!), and can speak fairly well when I want to. Many of the kids that have problems with grammar are the ones that were never corrected when they were growing up.

x__Yun.Jee I find that most literate people are adults .. around 20 years old. I'm a 7th grader, which means I'm 11 .. turning 12 next month. 3nodding
I'm not being a stereotype, because I didn't say ALL literate people are adults. I just find that most are. Why is that?  Oh my god, me too! I'm 12, turning 13 on the 24th of April. I hate when people stereotype kids our age as being illiterate hicks. I mean, I'm more literate than most, say, 15 year-olds in this day and age!You can paint your life a rainbow of colors.

I'm fourteen. I smack people who use bad grammar. I think it's helping. In two years, I've stopped the majority of people who I talk to on MSN from using 'txt-tlk'. I'm a good influence.
But age? My grammar's been good for as long as I can remember, excluding of course when I was just learning how to write. That doesn't count. I think it's because my parents, and not my school, taught me how to write. I was a gifted child (heh, funny term) so I needed special attention like that. If my school had taught me grammar, I think I would be fairly stupid.

I'm 20 and I have been bashed by people who are younger than me on this site! Many of you use grammar extremely well. I'm impressed.

Well, hum-hum. I'm 13. I'm also not tottaly lit. but is anyone? I'm not sure.
My head hurts from thinking about a fue things that could happen from me saying that. So I made it die. ^_^
Oh, also, ALL of my friends use 'txt-tlk' Drives me up a wall, it does. I'm consitaly yelling at them, and I correct thier mistakes in red on thier PMs to me. One tells me, "Well I have many brain defects and you know how that is for me." I dread when she puts up that pity-party defence. She does speak with a lisp and is easly distracted, but she over-exsaggerates for pity and attention. Good thing most people are smarter than that, or else she might be in a wheelchair...

I'm a fifteen year old. At school, I'm friends with the nerds, so 'txt tlk' isn't really an issue. We just laugh at the other people in the year because one of us won the year 9 spelling bee. The could never do that.

I'm 15 as of this January, and I'm a freshman in high school. I'd like to think I'm more literate than most in my class... So far my class rank is 21 out of 500 or 600... I should stop before I get a severely enlarged head. xd

No one really makes fun of me because of the grammar I am one of the "smart" kids.

!DinoDino! I'm eleven too. I'm currently in Sixth Grade. Going up to Seventh next year. Most people think I'm mature for my age. I'm going to be Twelve on the Twenty First of May. <3 Shizknockers! By the time seventh grade started for me, most of us were 13 already!
