Well, definitely not marry because he is taken by a woman who is perfect for him, but if I could get to him pre-Aylis I would love Aravan from Dennis L. McKiernan's Novles of Mithgar.
A rougish elven ship-captain, got the best ship in the world. Think Legolas with black hair times like 20.

Any character? Thats hard, so many! Well for the fun of it here goes:
My first choice would be: Prince Aleksander from the Rai-Kirah seires by Carol Berg. He's honorable, good fighter. Though he can be difficult at times. And what more he's got money, and power.
And then (in no paticular order) : Jocelin or Hyacinthe form the Kushiel Lagacy series. Their both hot, one is an awsome protector and the other controls the seas and look into the past and future.
Edward Cullen, just because. Hot, wealthy, caring.
Most of the male characters from Tamora Pierce books, especally Numair.
Jeez I sound like a gold digger. And as all good characters usually are, they are already taken.
