The title of the short story (interesting read) is
The Devil and Daniel Webster
However, Daniel webster is a real man. He was around the time of the civil war, and a prolific speaker, who helped on the Missouri compromise (as stated in teh story as well) and was denounced by the north and south for his speaches. It was written after teh civil war, so there are "predicitions" which inevitably become true...

I swear to the force Ive been having the weirdest luck today. I lost my wallet, battled athiests, got harrased by christians, had my story accepted for my school's publication, and just now I found my wallet. weird weird day.
