Yah, this is an advance warning I might be a little pissy/emotional for a while, if I am on Gaia at all in the next couple days. Tomorrow I'm going to go out with my dad to have my mom's Quarter Horse, Silk, put down. For the last few months he has been struggling with an abscess to his foot, and in the end it was too much for him. At this point he is completely lame (the bone in his foot rotated) and it would take years for him to possibly recover. There is no way we can ask Silk to go through all that pain when we know there is no telling if he would recover enough to even walk without pain.

At this point, he is ready and my mom saw it and has made the difficult choice to release him from his suffering. She said her goodbye's tonight since she isn't sure if she will have the strength to go tomorrow to be their when they put him down. I'll be going in her place along with my dad who honestly probably shouldn't go either since these things are really hard on him. I guess I've lost so many animals over the years that I've learned how to cope with these situations and not focus on the animals last breath and how they look when their dead, but on making the passing as nice as it can be for them.

Anyways, just thought I should let everyone know in advance why I won't be in the best of moods for a while.

*hugs* sorry to hear that. Our horse was put down on our front lawn and then didn;t get picked up until the next morning to it was hard for us.
Horses are hard especially if they're older and they've been there when you've grown up.

Some horses are like steady posts. Sure, youi can cry and cuddle up to your dog or cat, but my best times were with my horse. They give you something to lean on.

I hope it goes well.

Yah, this is a hard one for all of us. He is the first horse we have ever had get sick like this, and the first we have ever had to put down. My mom has loved horses since when she was a little girl. When she turned 16 instead of getting her a car, one of her uncles bought her a horse.

Since then she has always had one though she has been the type to buy and sell. She is big into the quarter horse and doing shows, and she would often buy a young horse full of promise and turn them into a real nice horse winning shows and such. Eventually she would sell them to another person at a much higher price than she originally paid. In this way she would have the cash for a new young horse plus some to help with up keep. It's not that she didn't love her horses, because she did, she just never found really fell for one like Silk. This was the horse she couldn't sell, the one that made her say I'll be keeping and growing old with this one.

You couldn't ask for a sweeter one than him. He was a natural with a beautiful gate. Could have easily made it to the American Quarter Horse Congress and such if we had the kind of cash it takes to go to all those horse shows. I've known a lot of horses in my time, but I've never met one like Silk. He is just as gentle and loving as they come. All you have to do is ask him to do something and he is going to do it. I still can't believe we are going to loose him. He's only 15 and he should have had so much more time left. =(

I'm truly sorry for your family's loss Kriss, it's hard to watch an animal get put down, especially if they should have many years of life left, but it's much harder to watch them suffer through something. It's great that your parents can depend on you to handle this, but I know it can be hard to be the 'strong one' in situations like this. I'm sure no one will hold it against you if you're absent or emotional for a while, take as much time as you need.

We are getting my big orange tabby neutered in the next week or so. I'm glad because I dislike him being outside. He's a gentle giant type cat, and there's these two stray toms that bully him. There's also stray dogs that come around sometimes, and I don't want him to end up like my maine coon who was hit by a car on the highway near our house. He'll be an inside cat after he's fixed and I'm gonna spoil him rotten.

It's pissing down rain outside, and I'm loving it. Hopefully it will cool down helps. I'm also hoping it rains on Fridays since I have BWL this weekend.

So my boyfriend bought a new car a few weeks ago because his old one (a 1994 Audi 90 Quattro) was acting up so badly it wasn't worth keeping anymore. He now has a 2004 Infiniti G35 sedan; it's a really nice car.

Last night when he picked me up from school, he said he noticed that his car was making a weird tapping/ticking noise when it idled. Sure enough, when we pulled up to the first red light I heard it, too; a kind of "tap tap tap", in groups of five, soft but very steady.

This morning, after worrying himself sick last night, we took it to the Infiniti dealer in Monroeville. They said they'd call us back later today to let us know what they found. Meanwhile, he gets to drive my crappy 1997 Ford Escort to work today. whee

I really hope it's okay; the time we get to stay at his parents' house for the holiday depends on what results from this inspection.

Oh, and his mom got a new puppy: a 7 (IIRC)-week-old Black Lab she named Sophie. heart Annabelle, her German Shepherd mix, is decidedly jealous. whee

Hi everyone, I was in the guild ages and ages ago but I doubt anyone remembers me now. Anyway I'm back and looking to chat. I'm a furvert and have a hard time keeping my mind out of the gutter, but if you don't mind an occasionally yiffy kitty with no modesty, then drop me a PM sometime? I'd like to make some new friends on here. 3nodding

Also check out my profle if you have time, I'm still working on it but hopefully will have some art for it soon. smile

It was horrendously cold out here today, and I had to go out and brave that nightmarish realm which is Walmart the day before Thanksgiving. All my aunt wanted was eggs and milk. I tried going to the nearest grocery store and they were sold out. I tried a gas station too, and it was the same. I had no alternative.

All in all, it wasn't as bad as I thought, but then again, I had three items and other people had three dozen, so I guess that doesn't say much.

Tis cold in my room. I'll have to wear socks going to bed. ;_;

Just got home a few minutes ago from having Thanksgiving dinner at my Grandma's. Was a nice little family get together and I am about to pass out from the food.

For the trip down there and back I loaded up Animal Olympics into my media player. Always a flood of memories to watch that movie.

wow..I love how one person can ruin it for the many...someone in this game I play started blabbing about how artists will sue you over art..and blah blah..so now several artists have stopped doing art because they're now afraid someone is going to sue them if they just happen by chance have made a pic that looks simliar to someone else's..

Like some of us have the money to sue everyone under the sun..>_>..If I did I would be rich right now from how many things of mine have been stolen.

Dinner was uneventful. I woke up around eleven and we left at 2:30, having to turn around after we were halfway to Muskogee so that I could get my dad's leather jacket. I had expected that the family buffet place we went to to be packed, and it was, but the line was nonexistent when we arrived, and no sooner had we gotten our salads than the place started to fill up. I didn't feel as strained as I usually do when I have to make idle talk during meals, which is good, I suppose.

My tabletop cd player is broken. It makes this weird noise whenever I try to play a cd on it. It was cheap and is easily replaceable, I suppose, though I don't fancy going out tomorrow to shop, because it'll be hell.

*Yawn* It was a long day, though I guess it’s not really Thanksgiving anymore. In any case, I forgot to call my Dad so I’m going to get hell. I got home to late.
