Lux was not impressed with Lava's Tackle attacks, easily batting them away without breaking his concentration. Thankfully for Lava, he was barely hitting him , otherwise the Cyndaquil would have had a serious headache after the first few swats. When the Ember was fired, he was forced to break focus and flare him his own flames to protect himself. Not the most powerful attack but it was enough for him to react defensively. "Good job! All it takes is confidence. Cyndaquil and their evolutions often have an emotional tie with their flames." Lykas said as Lux trotted over to him. "The more emotion Lava feels, the more powerful his fire will become. But fear and courage are not always reliable emotions." He informed, knowing this from experience.

"Lava! Quil quilava quil quil." Lux barked, congratulating Lava on his improvement.

"Now then....I'm pretty sure I saw Lava use Flame Wheel while we were at the lab. That'll be a reliable move for him to use for attacks as well as defensive and mobility maneuvers." He explained as he knelt down by Lux once more.

"Since Lava's showing signs of improvement, let's work on him getting the hang of that move now. If he can summon his fire at will to use Flame Wheel, he should be able to use it a lot better than before. So we're going to use Lava Plume to attack now, since he won't be hurt as badly by Fire-type moves. Try using Flame Wheel to dodge and counterattack." He told the younger trainer, nodding to Lux.

The Quilava gave Lava a look that said 'get ready' and slammed a foot into the floor. A glowing red spot appeared on the floor underneath Lava, growing brighter by the moment, before a mushroom shaped burst of almost liquid fire erupted from the ground. He'd need to react quickly to avoid this,

Keiko smiled at Dan's confidence and was happy with his promise to be careful. She still wished he had a reason to go, something to help his resolve other than desire, though she had no idea what end the means of desire led for Dan.

Her smile was whisked away with talk of adding to Cipher's strength, and even more so to the possibility of Cipher discovering the location of Snagem HQ. "Y-yeah. Let's prevent that as much as we can." That was all she had meant to say, but she was struck by inspiration at that point, and it demanded a voice. "Maybe... someone could pretend to join them and try to learn more about what they have set up..."

"Like an undercover mission?" Chaos asked. He had left Lykas some time ago, confident that his adopted son could handle training two rookies by himself, and came back to the main lobby out of boredom.

"Y-yeah, an undercover mission," Keiko confirmed.

Dan nodded, appreciating Odd's vote of confidence. There was a goal he was aiming for and he'd be damned if he wasn't going to accomplish it. He was determined to see this through to the end and return successful. Waving goodbye, he returned to his room to prepare for the journey ahead of him. Part of him thought he should pack light to move quicker but another insisted he pack more just in case. How long would he be away? Not that long, right? Moving back down to the lobby, Dan gave HQ another look over before heading out.

Alex study the fight carefully, taking notes on Cyndaquil and fire types in general. Granted, she probably wouldn't ever have a fire type but you never know.
Meanwhile, Lillipup was glad to train with Squirrel and Lightning, expressing his desire to be stronger. He was especially small for a Lillipup but he never let that stop him from giving his 110%.

Connor would appear in the lobby, thinking to take a break. His was glad with the progress in training both Torchic and Asura but something was missing. Like he needed a small push to further their training to the next level. While he was thinking it over, he overheard the discussion about an undercover mission. He didn't know what was going on but his interest was peaked.

At Lux's approval, Lava couldn't help smiling with a hint of pride. His flames were burning brighter than before, but they weren't at the strength he'd seen in the lab or in the forest. Arthur noticed this, but still was happy that Lava was improving. Listening to Lykas's trainer tips, Arthur nodded before waiting for the Lava Plume. "Concentrate Lava," he said. Lava snapped to attention in response. "Close your eyes and sense the power of fire within. Don't worrry about the Lava Plume, I'll tell you when its coming. Just remember what it felt like to use that Flame Wheel."

Closing his eyes, Lava saw scenes from the past flashing through his mind. He winced at the anger or fear he had felt at the time, but tried to look past it. Lava needed to remember the feeling of fire...not the emotions. "Here it comes," Arthur said when he saw the red spot. Lava had to act fast before he was overtaken. Remembering the fire, he tried to engulf himself completely. "Do it now!" Arthur shouted when the liquid flames came up. Lava managed to cover itself in flames now, but it was a little too late. As the Lava Plume engulfed him, though, Lava would keep up his concentration. Moments later, he shot through the lava as a spinning ball of fire. With all the damage he'd taken thus far, Blaze was activating.

Meanwhile, Lightning would float around Lillipup before nodding approvingly. Seeing this, Squirrel had a sudden idea. [Tag Team] he said. [You and Lighting against me. A little speed training would do us all some good. Or we could always try the every Pokemon for himself method. Me vs. You vs. You.] Lightning for one agreed with every man for himself. A tag team would be too dangerous considering his electricity might accidentally hit Lillipup as well.

"Excellent!" Lykas said, giving an approving nod. "Lava's ability could easily help him gain control over his flames. Since Blaze increases the power of his fire, he just needs to get used to that feeling." He pointed out as Lux prepared himself. When Lava got close, he hunkered down and blocked the little fireball's charge. It pushed him back a little bit but hurt very little, given the Cyndaquil's inexperience. The Quilava just smirked when he thought about it. This little firecracker could become a powerhouse if he could just get a handle on that fire of his.

Alex took a step back, putting up her hand to defend against the heat. "Whoa, so intense!" she commented on the fire types display of power.
Lillipup nodded in agreement, wanting to battle on his own as well. He'd show them the runt of the litter was the feistiest of the them. Crouching down in a pouncing stance, Lillipup would get ready to attack either one of them or evade an attack. His eyes were dead set on Lightning though, wanting attack him first.

SubonicXP
"We may have to make another pre-preemptive strike against Cipher." Sub said to GRAY as he sat in his office. "You sure that's a good idea? We know they are active again but to what extent is a mystery. Sure, we could blow up that lab once and for all but for all we know the hydra slumbers under the sands, and two more heads take the place of the one we cut off. Then what do we have? A very angry cluster of heads." GRAY retorted from the speaker on Sub's desk, it was a direct line to GRAY's main unit. "Hm, true. We would need to access their strength. Would be horrible if they figured out our location finally and retaliated. That would certainly be shooting ourselves in the foot." Sub mused.
"I'll assume this is related to the trip the group went on." Sol spoke up, having been passing through when he overheard the conversation between GRAY and Sub. "Though, if Cera's report was as she claimed, GRAY has a strong point in his hydra comparison. Especially for them to have access to Voltorb... not only would there be a cluster of heads, but a number of our own struck down."

Speaking of Cera, she ended up noticing Sol next to Sub's door and decided to butt in. "Dun remind me of that... I'm gonna guess there hasn't been a lot of progress in figuring anything out after what happened at the lab?" She asked.

When Lillipup agreed to the triple threat match- that's what he was coming to call it would be called- Squirrel nodded before taking a few steps back. Lightning did the same so that they formed a sort of triangle. Each Pokemon glanced at the other as it expected an attack. Lightning would be the first to make a move, though, hoping to catch them all of guard with Thunderwave. Squirrel used Quick Attack to dodge while also charging Lillipup, since he expected the thunderwave to hit and paralyze.

Back with Arthur, he was surprised by how easily Lux stopped Lava. "I know he's a Quilava but who knew he was THAT strong," he thought. When Lava finally stopped, he staggered before feeling his flames burning brightly. For once he looked actually happy with the fire rather than angry or afraid. He was finally getting that fighting spirit. "So we've managed to get him to self activate," Arthur said. "Now if only we could get him to be more-" He cut off when he realized he was about to say something hypocritical. How could he tell Lava to be more courageous when he himself was such a wimp.

Arthur's thought were interrupted when he heard Alex's comment. He'd forgotten about her until then. "Alex why don't you join us?" he offered. "That's o.k. with you right Lykas? We can train like they are." As he said that, he gestured towards Squirrel and the others. He'd noticed their training battle and it gave him an idea for their own training. Though Lava was a little weaker than the others, Blaze would make up for that.

The blonde was zoned out on the fire pokemon when Arthur suddenly invited her to train with them. "Huh? Oh! Yeah, sure....umm." She looked back to see Lillipup was otherwise engaged in training himself. "Errr...ok then. I'll use my Magnemite" she decided, releasing the pokemon from its ball. She was sure the training involved was going to be a battle but Porygon wasn't really lacking in the battle department.
Leaping backward to avoid Thunder Wave, Lillipup quickly noticed Squirrel coming at him with Quick Attack. The attack knocked him back a few steps but it was nothing serious. The pup used Work Up to increase his strength for when he did attack and then awaited his opponents next move.

"I have no problem with that. In fact...." The boy stopped mid-sentence, recalling Lux. "Now that Lava has a better handle on his flames, Let me switch this up a bit." He said as he released Nacrearcus, his Castform.

"Arcus, are you ready for a battle? You haven't seen much combat since I caught you, after all..." He told the Pokemon, who nodded and summoned a small ball of sunlight over himself, his form changing to match the new weather. The ball faded after a few seconds and the Weather Pokemon changed back to his normal form. "I'll take that as a 'yes'." Lykas laughed.

"A Magnemite and a..." Arthur trailed off as he briefly scanned over Nacrearcus. "Castform," he finished. "You'll just have to let your flames burn brighter Lava." The Cyndaquil let out his best impression of a battle cry, though it was soft and quiet. Glancing at both the opponents, Lava wondered who would make the first move. However, it was actually Arthur who wanted him to make the first move. "Smokescreen," he called out. He figured that concealment would help prevent both of them ganging up on Lava.

While the smoke began to cover the area, Squirrel would skid to a stop after passing Lillipup before turning and launching for Lightning. Barreling backwards from the attack, Lightning sent a wild stream of thundershocks, which simply went around in no particular direction. When he finally stopped, he realized he'd managed to hit Squirrel with a stray bolt. Taking this as a good sign, Lightning released the while stream of thundershocks yet again. A few of these stray bolts were aimed at Squirrel while the rest unknowingly came for Lillipup.

Lykas was quick to take this to his own advantage. "Sunny Day." Nacrearcus nodded and his body flashed as he released a ball of concentrated fire chi into the air, forming a makeshift sun. With bright sunlight filling the area, he changed to his Sunny Form. Now a Fire-type, the Castform smirked in the direction of Lava.

"Fire Rain, Arcus." Lykas called to his partner. The little Castform nodded and began to blow Embers into the air around him, which rained down upon the battlefield in his area.

In the far corner, Lykas' Pokemon were all training together. Latifah was alternating between using his Flatter or Swagger and Heal Bell to help Sphynx build up her ability to store her chi once again. The former moves were charging her with extra energy while Heal Bell kept her from harming herself while trying to hold the chi in. Le Faye, on the other hand, was using Light Screen to reduce the incoming damage whenever Sphynx loosed a Thunderbolt at her to practice pouring out her chi once again. Between the boosts and the exertion, the Luxray was essentially exercising her chi control and storage capabilities once more.

The battle began with smoke filling the air and fire raining down from above. It was like some kind of abnormal weather; cloudy with a chance of burning rain. Magnemite was already losing it at the incoming cinders and Alex would have too had she not remember to stay calm. "Don't worry, just use Discharge!" she nodded to the magnet. It paused for a moment before carrying out with the attack, the bolts fending of the embers and aiming for both opponents.

Meanwhile, the runt had his own problems, hopping out of Lightning's rash and reckless attacks. The pup had his own plans, being quite smart for a puppy. He ran after Squirrel with Ice Fang, leaping at him with mouth agape.

Kaya Rayvn sat in Snagem HQ with his newly hatched Togepi, wondering how things were going back at Relic Forest since he, Toren and Amaranth had used Anael's hatching to purify the shrine.

"Alright, Anael. It's lunch time." He told the Normal-type in a sweet voice. The Togepi nodded and pulled out a small piece of purplish stone from her shell, slowly chewing on it. "Don't chew on your Eviolite, Anael. I'll get you some food in just a minute." He assured the little Pokemon as he carried her to the kitchen and quickly poured her a bottle of MooMoo Milk, having purchased this especially for her. It took a moment or two but he was able to get the milk warmed up just enough for her to not dislike the coldness by rolling the bottle between his hands.

"Togi!" Anael cheered when she saw the bottle approaching, quickly dropping her Eviolite back inside her shell for now as she reached for Kaya and her lunch. "Haha. Alright, settle down." The human responded as he scooped her up from the table, where he'd set her while he prepared her food. He'd start working on getting her to eat mashed berries next week. according to his mother, baby Pokemon didn't take long before they could easily eat solid foods and often would be capable of it long before they began to want to.

Kairi and Dante were both sitting in the training room, finally getting to the training which they had planned to do for ages now. Tetra and Nina were faced off against each other, as the two Fire-types were in need of training. The Houndour pup growled at the Vulpix which appeared to be growling right back. Despite the fact Tetra was still only a puppy, she was larger than Dante's Vulpix. The Dark Pokemon and the Fox Pokemon were fairly evenly matched at this point, as the two had been practicing for hours now.

"Tetra, Faint Attack!" Kairi called out. Tetra, however, had other ideas, as she lay down. Nina did the same, and both Pokemon seemed to be panting a little. "Hey, Kairi... I think it's time we let the two of them rest. They've been at this for hours, and we've made a lot of progress already," Dante said, picking up his Vulpix and cradling her in his arms. Kairi nodded in agreement, and sat down next to her Houndour, lightly petting her head, scratching her behind the ears. The pup crawled into her trainer's lap, licking her free hand happily as she got more pets and scratches behind the ears. "You sure do like that, don't you Tetra?" Kairi asked, her voice actually somewhat sweet. Tetra barked in response and nuzzled her face against Kairi's hand, causing the girl to chuckle. "Yeah, that's what I thought."

Tsura entered the room there, her Toxicroak walking along behind her. "You guys all done, or are one of you up for helping me train Narcissus?" the girl asked, smiling and resting a hand on the side of her Toxicroak's face. Kairi looked up at her best friend and then looked back down to her Houndour. "Tetra is pretty tuckered out right now. I would train with you Tsura, but, the only Pokemon of mine I would use to help in your training at the moment I don't currently have with me," she finally said, fiddling with the feather in her hair as she did so. "That's alright Kairi, we can train later," Tsura said with a smile, tilting her head.
