Not really, protect will still out prioritize, and I could always just baton pass / manual switch out.

You are missing the point. Speed Boost is foiled by Trick Room, a move which protect does not block. If I smell protect, I heal or trick room. If I smell some other move, I ice beam.

There are ways to deal with baton passers. Yes, other ways. As you noticed, I only had one OU on my team (Porygon Z). I'm currently planning another. It'll be more evil than jumpluff, but just as conniving. ninja

We had two fights. The first one disconnected 2-5 (Nitnit). The second one was 1-3 (Nitnit... However, we discussed that it would've ended up 1-1, 1-0, or 0-1 due to me about to kill Arcanine, stealth rock ruining gengar's focus sash, me killing gengar with salac psychic, and then using HP Fighting to send T-tar to his grave.) As it turns out, salac works better than the scarf would. The scarf would've had me Tri Attacking his gengar. gonk
