A mule is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. A hinny is the offspring of a male horse and a female donkey.

You'd think one name would do, wouldn't you?

You would, but hey.

Feeding panadol to pigeon's cause their stomach to explode.

The giant squid at the Melbourne aquarium is damn awesome.

Eyes as big as dinner plates it has.

Echidnas will pee in defense, so if you pick one up, make sure it's facing away from you 3nodding

Haha. After todays lecture I am choc full of animal facts.

In the grasslands of Africa, the total weight of all grasshoppers is greater than the total weight of all grazing mammals... That includes things like wilderbeast, antelope, buffalo and elephants.

IMAGINE THAT!

Australia is the only continent that lacks large mammalian predators.

Even Antarctica has them!

Bar flies and fruit flies are the same thing.

The peregrine falcon is world's fastest bird. When it's diving to catch its prey, it exceeds speeds of 320 kilometers - about 200 miles - per hour.

All the world's cheetahs are as genetically alike as identical twins.
With no genetic diversity, they suffer the costs of inbreeding - susceptibility to disease, genetic defects, and reproductive abnormalities such as low sperm count.

That is so wrong.

So horribly horribly wrong. Who tells you this crap?

Yes, cheetahs do have an unusually low genetic variability, but it would be absolutley impossible for them all to be exactly the same.

There is still a fair amount of variation in the cheetah population. There's different coat colours, patterns and hair types. There's also melanisitic and albino cheetahs, which you wouldn't get if they had all exactly the same genes.

Rarrrgh.
