uryu ishida OberFeldwebel uryu ishida Arg...This b*****d is so close to me forcing him to adopt me xd Current List, from the looks of it: Mosin Nagant M44 15 boxes, 15 rounds each, 7.62x54R Crates for both 200 or so rounds of 9mm ~10 rounds of #00 (for when I save enough for an Ithaca 37) Coleman 234 Lantern (another $10, rebuilding it with him) And now, the kick to the nuts to everyone else. An H&R M1 Garand. Right around $50 a month. And a more direct answer as to why: Not only do I not have the tools and supplies needed, I want to support the shop. EDIT: Research shows that the H&R isn't just ANY M1 Garand, but the H&R-produced Garands were some of the BEST MADE available. Damn I'm a lucky b*****d. BTW, it's rated Service Grade by the CMP. Rage rising. But oh? What's this? Could this be an e-mail in response to my order from the CMP? "We have received and verified your recent order. Your order will now advance to our sales area and from there to our shipping area. Please note, that unless otherwise listed, our order to ship time is at least 60 days. You will receive other emails as the order progresses." Oh it is! ... two bloody months though. gonk $50 a month for how long? How much interest man?! How much?! What did you order? I'm planning on ordering a can or two of Greek surplus. Twelve months. AT MOST. ZERO interest. And it'll be hand-picked AT the CMP location by said Merchant Marine. Waaaat? He's getting it for you from the CMP? neutral Well, I'm getting an M1 Carbine. biggrin

People call the round anemic, that it could be stopped by the frozen clothing of the Koreans. That simply isn't true. It EASILY will punch through even very thick, solid frozen clothing and still easily kill. The critics from being issued it were used to the more extreme stopping power of the .30-06SPRG, and were critical of it's stopping power (in relevance to the .30-06SPRG) Having fired one, they are very fun little rifles. While not full-grown rifles, they are great shooters, far more accurate that I am, and are also damn near perfect to teach a new shooter on. That, and they're about $150-$200 less than a Garand. What grade? I'd hope at LEAST rack grade, or better, Service Grade.

And I'm going to save some extra for a can or two of the Greek suplus they have. It comes IN the clips, IN a bandoleer, IN a sealed can! Even has the silencing cardboards.

I'm lucky to not need to purchase an M1 Carbine, as my grandfather passed one down to my Uncle, and I go shooting with him frequently, so it is just as well.
(OFF-TOPIC: I just got back from the Armed Forces museum, and I bring pictures. Around 80+. Would anyone be opposed to me making a thread of a massive picture-link dump here?)

F*ck you, I don;t get any cool war pass-downs other than some clothing xd
You'd be best served by posting a few select pictures, and a link to the photobucket (or otherwise) album, or even a .zip file if you feel like it.

No, ******** YOU bro.
Seriously though, my grandfather is still alive, and reblued the carbine before giving it to my uncle. Awesome guy.
As for the MASSIVE IMAGE DUMP, I'll sort everything into an album and add descriptions and s**t, then make a thread as soon as I finish.

Well, my dad has a CMP Garand in what looks to be collector grade, but I don't think I'll be getting that any time soon. He also almost never shoots the thing. I've never actually seen him shoot it, but I know he shot it once about five years ago. We're considering shooting a match next month, him with his Garand and me with the Enfield. He'll probably come up with an excuse to drop out a week before the match, though.
No war bring-backs for me either though. Anyone in my family who served did so in the Navy.

Hey, it's not a rifle. It's a carbine. Yeah, I haven't had too many war pass-downs in the terms of rifles or whatnot. I did get some really old French bayonet, I mean really old, back when the French had balls old. This one appears to have been heavily used in battle, I'm sure. I got some medals and some collar tabs. My uncle has what I think is the only bring back rifle, a Mauser with bayonet. Unless that Carcano that my other has is a bring back, I can't remember if any of the relatives were in Italy or not. Oh well, it could have been just a catalog order. wink Yeah, I'm going to a gun show today down in Brooklyn park. I'm a bit nervous about the drive but... I think I can do it.

On the subject of war bring backs, I am apparently supposed to receive anything military related from my Great-grandfather. Now, he may not even HAVE anything, as you may remember from my last thread, but I don't really care. I'd rather talk with him about his stuff than get it anyway.

Further Developments: Looks like I might be getting a Remington 870 Express (synthetic stock, 7-shot mag tube) with my next paycheck.
I WAS going to completely pay off the Garand when I got it, but I find that it will STILL be easier to pay off about $300 on it and pay the rest off in payments, because I need a shotgun. My grandfather needs his shotgun back, because he doesn't like the way the single-shots work (not that I trust them to work with their age), so I'm going ot give him back his double-barrel and 10 rounds of #3 buck when I get the 870. Well, 8-9 rounds, I'm going to need to use 1-2 to see if it patterns well.
That, and I'm getting an excellent deal on it. BELOW dealer cost, because the dealer knows my situation completely.
If I get large enough paychecks, it'll be $300 on the Garand and then buying the other stuff. If not, it'll be either $150-200 on the Garand, and the rest to buy other things from him, or $300 on the Garand (and ammo) and keep saving up for the rest.
