Gather Round the Feasting Rock!

Introduction Solo: There is nothing like a good party, and boy do the Vuli know how to throw one! Fionn thought to himself as he passed out another succulent piece of fish wrapped in a sun warmed Ensete leaf, its nutty flavor adding to the fish. With a grin to the rather pretty lioness he had given the treat to, her mane all braided with autumn leaves and late flowers, he turned to the next in line with his usual half smile, a roguish look that was infamous among the Mrao clan, and had gotten him into more trouble, and then gotten him right back out of it.

“ And what can I do for you young lady?” He asked with good humor laced into his tone, his winter spun eyes dancing with mischief as he waved a paw around the fine spread of treats and morsels laying on the artfully decorated flat rock in front of him, amid the wreaths and bunches of harvest offerings.

The young, she couldn't be that far into adolescence, hyena blinked at him, then at the offerings on the table. “ I..don't even..know..were to begin...” she stammered, her beautiful spring eyes huge at the amount of food before her. Fionn came to the rescue, I mean, how could he not, right? It would be rude of him.

“ Oh that's easy,” He leaned over the rock, one white paw steadying himself, the other pointing at the treats, “ This is pouch rat...tractable little fellows really, pain the butt to pull out of their nest..had a real go at one of them traveling to send word about the Courting Season, little bugger gave me a merry chase...” Fionn laughed, “ didn't work out so good for him in the end. Anyway, this over here, “ he moved his paw to the left, “ is a Gingerbread Plum.” The fruit was about two inches long and bright orange. “ Its sweet and sticky, and you better be able to bribe a monkey or a leopard to be able to get it. Grows high, and once misstep and you and the fruit are on the ground. Tired it myself once, took weeks to get all the goo off my tail, anything I touched with it just stuck. Can you imagine what chewing off a bunch of savanna grass is like every night?”

The youngster laughed, picturing the sight of the snow what male with grass sticking every which way of his tail. Fionn nodded, his expression rather forlorn, “ Exactly, I pride myself on of having an exceptionally handsome tail you know.” Giving her another wink, as if sharing a joke among friends, he lifted his paw to the right, “ Now if your not into meat, and gads I hope your not a vegetarian which would just stun the white right out of my coat...you're not are you?” He eyed her suspiciously, which brought another laugh from her.

“ Oh good, met one of those once too. Odd old lion. Something about being one with the earth and hurting others was only to hurt yourself. I personally think he was out in the sun to long, but one good thing came out of sheltering the night with him, he showed me this little treat here,” he placed his paw on a scooped out gourd holding a large pile of one inch long, oily looking, fleshy..fruit? “ These my dear are Desert Dates, but don't just bite into them, there's a large seed in the center. Nearly cracked my back teeth out when I first bit one.'

Fionn leaned on the flat rock, tail wagging behind him, and it really was a rather handsome tail, “ So, anything you fancy here darlin? Or should I just pile a whole bunch up and let my world wise expertise choose for you?” A canine grin followed the words, and she wasn't sure if he was serious or not.

“ Um, I think I'll start with the three you pointed out, and maybe come back for more?” she said, her voice a little hesitant.

“ Excellent choice, I'll just wrap it all up for you.”

The hyena tilted her head at him, eyes bright, “ How do you know what all these things are, and how did you manage to get into so much trouble?”

Fionn gave her a wink as he handed the gourd with the food on it over to her, “ Oh, well I'm a Crier for the Maro and I run between the Clans sending news and invites to all kinds of celebrations. Makes my life interesting to say the least. Come back after your done, I'll tell you more about all my misadventures.”

He was rewarded with a shy smile from her and she seemed more at ease with the celebration. Ah yes, my work here is done.

With another roguish smile he turned to the next in line, “ Why Kaiel, I haven't seen you in an age, and how are the lovely mate and cubs..they must be what, four months old now.......”
