[Our love is strong!]
Owner 1: Blu Chalk Which WD: Female Name: Namid Meaning: Cheyenne name for star dancer. Rank: Star-Tracker Personality: Namid appears extremely spacey to observers, but she is passionate about her unique connection to the stars. This connection is the most important thing to her and she will let nothing get in her way. Everything else is a nuisance and unnecessary. She very much goes against the norm, but that doesn’t bother her. As long as she lives her life by the way of the stars, she will feel complete. History: Namid was born into a pack of normal Wild Dogs with the average number of siblings, which all acted pretty normal too. She, on the other hand, was always by herself babbling about things that her mother and siblings just couldn’t understand. Her family left her alone. Though, her mother would often try to hide her from the neighboring packs so they wouldn’t think her family was weird. Her father wasn’t worried because he just thought Namid was going through a faze as a pup. Of course, he was wrong and just thought ignoring the situation would make it go away. Namid didn’t care. She left her family to go a journey to communicate with the stars.
Owner 2: SilverLutz Which WD: Male Name: Askuwheteau (Asku) Meaning: Algonquin for ‘he keeps watch’. Rank: Star-watcher Personality: Asku is very patient and kind. He enjoys going out of his way to help others and feels like it is his life mission to assist anyone he possibly can. He is on the quiet side and could be seen as timid, but if he’s backed into a corner and given no peaceful way out, he will fight to protect himself and whoever he is with. History: When Asku was a pup, his father was killed by a rouge lion, along with his two sisters. He was raised by his mother – a kind soul – and lived every day like his father had lived his last. He felt like his father’s sacrifice was the gods way of showing him what he was to do with his own life: to serve and protect others. Of course, he took after his mother’s personality rather than his father’s, so becoming a fierce warrior was out of the question. He was a quiet youth and rarely made a fuss, so his helpful lifestyle was mostly contained to doing favors for other creatures rather than fighting to protect. After meeting Namid, he left his pack to follow her on her journey to Nyota-Wasomaji.
How did they meet?: What, exactly, is a forskrith? Namid certainly didn’t know, but that wasn’t about to stop her from finding one. She always did what the stars told her to do, and generally they guided her in the right direction. Sometimes she’d end up in a rather sticky spot, but certainly it was her own fault. She still wasn’t perfect at reading the messages in the stars…so maybe this forskrith was one of her mistakes?
She gave her head a little shake as she continued through the dense trees of the jungle. No, of course not! She hadn’t been wrong in weeks. She was getting very good at reading the stars now, so there had to be something out there called a forskrith and she was going to get it! Leaning down, she inhaled deeply to try to catch the scent of whatever it was she was looking for. So intent was she that she didn’t notice another wolf watching her.
Asku tilted his head slightly as he observed the grey female meandering through the trees. What was she looking for? She didn’t seem terribly frantic in her search…perhaps he could help! His tail began to wag just a bit as he stepped out of the trees a few paces in front of her. “Hello,” he said cheerfully, his voice soft. “Have you lost something?”
“Forskrith,” Namid answered, not bothering to look up. “Although I haven’t really lost it…you can lose something if you don’t have it to begin with, can you? I’m searching for it. Have you seen one?” All this was said in one breath and very quickly, so the words took a few moments to sort themselves out in Asku’s mind.
The male blinked very slowly as everything registered…everything except one word. “Um…what is a for…skrith? If I know what it looks like I can help you find it.” The question seemed to land on deaf ears as Namid abruptly turned and charged off into the brush. Asku stood rooted to the spot for a few moments before remembering the rather large ravine that cut through the forest floor just on the other side of the bushes Namid had just dashed off into. He leapt into action, catching up with the smaller wolf easily: she must not be from around these parts.
“Hang on!” he said as he ran alongside her. “There’s a huge drop up ahead, you need to sto-“
“Ha! Huge holes don’t scare me!” Namid laughed as she pressed on. “I must find this forskrith and if there are holes, large or otherwise, I shall simply ignore them!”
Asku pushed his legs to their limits to try to get in front of Namid and just barely succeeded. He cut her off just as they broke clear of the brush and they tumbled to a stop just feet from the gaping hole that would have certainly cut Namid’s hunt short. Asku remained on the ground, panting heavily, as Namid got up to inspect the ledge of the ravine.
“It is about the size of my paw,” she said slowly. Asku wondered what she was talking about, before the continued description clued him in. The forskrith. “Grey, made out of stone. There’s a hole in it to collect water, but only a few drops. It’s supposed to help predict the next solar eclipse.”
Asku didn’t question the wolf as she walked off, still in search of this forskrith. He had no idea what it was, but now that he had a description, perhaps he could make it so she could stop her rather dangerous searching methods.
A few hours later found Asku with a grey rock about the size of his paw hunting for Namid. He followed her trail to a wide, flat rock where she had sprawled out. Her eyes were trained on the sky as if looking for an answer to her questions, even though it was only dusk. “Um…hey. I think I found the uh…for…thing,” Asku said as he put the rock down beside Namid.
“Hm?” She turned her head lazily and gazed at the rock Asku had brought. It only took a few moments for her to leap into the air and begin to jump around in delight. “You found it! You found it, you really found it! Oh my…this…this is perfect! It’s exactly what I’m looking for!” Asku breathed a sigh of relief. Good. Now she wouldn’t go jumping off cliffs while running around.
“You…what is your name?” Asku jumped as a pair of violet eyes appeared directly before him. “Uh…Askuwheteau,” he said slowly, to which Namid laughed.
“Askuwheteau, you should accompany me! You are very good at finding things and the stars tell me to seek objects like this often. I have never found something so quickly!” Asku sat quietly for a while, wondering just how many holes and ditches she had fallen into in her search for these various objects. She seemed a bit spacy…if she kept this up she’d probably hurt herself.
“Um…sure. For…for a bit, I suppose it wouldn’t hurt. Ah…what is your name?”
“Oh, wonderful! Come! Come with me, there are much better places to gaze at the stars than here!” Namid jumped off the rock and, after picking up the forskrith, dashed off into the woods. Asku sighed and shook his head before following, hearing a peal of laughter float back to him, along with the word ‘Namid’. Ah…Namid. She certainly enjoyed answering questions when it suited her.

[Our love is strong!]
Owner 1: Yttra Which WD: Male Name: Tancred Meaning: It doesn't have a meaning. But it's from a favorite story of mine and it just seamed to fit him so well. Rank: Aurora Personality: He's a poet more then a warrior but the feud between his pack and other has disallowed him from following his true passion. History: He grew up in a pack that had been fighting tooth and claw to the death with another. He hasn't seen anything but death his entire life.
Owner 2: Soarin` Which WD: Female Name: Clorinda Meaning: Likewise it doesn't have a meaning. Rank: Howler Personality: She's a kind loving WD but she rarely gets to show it with the constant war between her packs. She often comes off as a cold, egotistical b***h because of it. History: Her parents both died in the war leaving her to become orphaned liked most of the other pups in her pack. The pack leaders then raised her to be a warrior since then and she has known nothing else.
How did they meet?:
The fueding between the packs had gone on for what seamed like and eternity. Never did she ever see a day without bloodshed. Her parents had been lost in the war and she had grown up a child of it. She had only known hate, only known the taste of death. It was what she was trained for; really she didn’t have any other purpose in her life. It wasn’t like she had anyone to live for- everyone she knew was dead. She supposed that she was fighting in there memory, but what was that worth anymore.
She sighed to herself. She was too strong and loyal to desert even if she saw no point to it.
Slowly she sauntered to a waterhole that was in between the two warring packs. It was the only mutually agreed neutral territory. She bent her neck over and dipped her head into it washing off the dry blood from yesterday’s battle.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Tancred was thirsty, and in these long summer does it felt like most what he did was try to keep his lean body nicely hydrated. The packs had been warring again. War, war, war, that was the depths of what his life had been lately. He wanted more. He longed for something other than the fresh kill of battle and the scars to prove it. He was born to a proud line of warriors and though his musculature showcased his lineage he was poet at heart. He'd make up endless words and sonnets in his head and sing about the sully of war. It ws the one thing that kept him motivated to say among his kinfolk. He slinked to the nearest waterhole, his head high and proud despite the blow of the heat. Once the great oasis was in sight he stopped and starred. Someone was already there.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Her ears were still perked out of the water, so she could hear everything despite the fact the water made her blind. Clorinda’s ear twitched and swiveled at the new arrival…it didn’t come from the direction of her pack. IT WAS THE ENEMY!
She pulled her wet head and muzzle out of the water as quick as she could and spun on her paws. The land might have been neutral but she was the only dog there; so the outsider might break his word and claim that she was on his land dragging her dead body away as some kind of sick prize.
She lifted up one side of her lip and let out a low growl as if to show him that he clearly wasn’t going to have an easy time if he did plan on jumping her. “Make your drink quick rebel…I was drinking here first and I want to continue without you.” She spat not moving from her position, water and dry blood dripping onto the ground below.
---------------------------------------------------------------
She was beautiful. It was the first thing his ragged mind thought when he looked upon her, and oddly enough; with such a slow reaction it may have been his last. Once her words tasted his ears he was quick to correct his stance, making it clear that he was not aggressive..but he didn't not show submission either. It was a nutral pose and he hoped it would ease her frustrations. "I mean you now harm," He said cooly. "The heat is overbearing. I will take my drink quick and be on my way.' He smiled a bit at her, and with a dogged determination to show no ill will he added, "Would you rather I move to the other side of the water?"
-----------------------------------------------------
She thought about it for a moment as she watched him adjust himself to her. She closed her mouth and withdrew her aggressive posture. This was neutral territory. She couldn’t kill him over drinking water- though why one side or the other didn’t claim the water was beyond her. She would have if she was in charge- it was a highly tactical strategy if they wanted to win. But that was the question wasn’t it? Did anyone REALLY want to win this war? Or were they just so damn used to fighting that they couldn’t give it up.
“Wouldn’t really matter if you moved to the other side or not…I’d still see you.”
She resumed walking into the clean water step by step. Something about the cool water sent a relaxing shiver down her spine. She gave a relaxed moan as she let the water lap over her bloody body. The water ran over her muzzle down to her thighs and back towards where the other planned to drink. This water was for drinking…and not bathing- but who cared; she was a lady, she wanted to be clean.
-------------------------------------------
He watched her intently, taking in every piece of her form as she bathed openly in the water. She was a tough one, and it made him feel thing he couldn't remember ever feeling before. Was she doing this to toy with him? The moaning, the twisting and motions of her body. He let out a small grunt and approached the water's edge with caution, lest this really be a part of a trap. Tenderly he began to lap at the cool liquid, drinking his fill until he looked back up at her. "You're beauitful," he breathed out, in a voice just above a whisper.
--------------------------------------------------
She turned and blinked at him half questionly as if he was mocking her, but she saw that he was serious. That was the first time anyone had complemented her for being ‘clean’ or for not killing anyone. She lifted a paw up and let the water run down her muzzle to her chest till it bristled and dripped off her furry curves.
“Best not let anyone in your pack hear you say that…” She scoffed at him, knowing it would only mean death for him if he spoke about her beauty elsewhere. “And for a rebel your not so bad yourself…but don’t go spouting that either…”
She shook herself off making sure she hit him with the water and padded back to dry ground. “Be seeing you lover-boy…” She smirked then turned tail and ran off back to her pack.
-------------------------------------------
He grinned after her, already captivated even though he'd only spent a nuance of time speaking with the beautiful creature. He watched her go, keeping his eyes locked n her decreasing form until she was gone entirely. Be seeing him...Yes, he thought as he made his way back onto his own pack, he' had high hopes that they would meet again.
---------------------------------------------
((Skip a few days ahead to the battle...))
---------------------------------------------
The young poet's fur was matted with blood and mud, while his heart's song was drivelled out like the coming of the plague. It was another fight; and this one was more brutal than ever before. It had been raining heavily in the last few days, so much so that the mud gripped at paws and if one weren't covered they would be stuck just a fraction of a second needed to end a life. He'd seen it to the dog next to him, and he'd inflicted it on two more. The enemies were coming in strong and the torrential downpour made it difficult to see head to tail. He must keep fighting. It was his honor to defend his own regardless of whether or not he believed in peaceful negotiations. Quickly he hurried forward, his teeth gnashed ahead as he closedin on the nearest enemy.
---------------------------------------
Once again she had prepared for battle. Like the rest of her pack she had rolled in the mud and blood of previous wars gone by. Now everyone was the same copper bronze as the next, nobody was distinguishable from the next, the would fight like a single unit and confuse the enemy. At least that was the same plan the stuck to all these years of stalemating. You would have thought somebody would have changed the plan since it was obviously not working.
They all charged forward with a battle howl. Today would be the day they won! And they began to tear apart the first dog from the other pack that they had come in contact with.
-----------------------------------------
They all looked the same, as did his people. As did everything in this godforsaken world. He snarled and tore at the limbs of his opponent. His bite force able to smash threw bone and rip apart sinew. All the same Tancred hated it. He hated what he was required to do and he hated what he was to become. Clawing and slashing he struck down his opponent and immediately went to the next one.
---------------------------------------
She ran at the enemy leaping forward like a rabbit from one to the next. She had seemingly separated herself as the most dangerous threat on the field with her uncanny agility. Turning she spun kicking her back legs and her forlimbs at once like a crazed lipazano. Her claws stuck true and the enemy next to her dropped from her deadly aim and sharp claws. Sure it wouldn’t win the war; but she would get special treatment for the most kills during the day.
She went back to each of the bodies and hacked off the right ear then began to bury her stash on the Warfield for when she went back as proof of her numbers.
-------------------------------------------
He could see the army buldging and coming at him from all angles. This was a pointless war. Pointless as everything else his pack seamed to be fighting for; but whatever. What else was he living for at this point? He rounded about on the enemy in front of him, his bloodlust pounding he found himself unmercifully killing everything he could get a hold on.
He spun then challenged the leader- or who he thought was the leader. He couldn’t tell the difference. They all looked the same with the mud on them anyway. His jaws then snapped shut on the females frame and began ripping into her neck to kill her. What he didn’t know was it was the female he had fallen in love with not a few days before.
------------------------------------------
She yowled and toppled over backwards as the fangs began digging into her soft neck. She could only guess this was the end for her. Oh what a miserable way for it to end. She was going to expire like the rest of her family and she hadn’t even had anything thing to show for her accomplishments except maybe a string of ears she’d hacked off. But really what was that? She hadn’t even known love…
She hit the ground hard and smacked her head with a thud. Dazed she flung her paws up towards her face trying to claw the b*****d away. Instead she ended up cracking off the now dried mud on her face reveling her features to the male.
------------------------------------------
He hadn’t noticed it at first, but when the mud cracked off he saw only a fraction of the feme’s face, but that was enough for him to recognize her. He let go and backed off a few paces only to look down at what he had done. ‘Oh god…please don’t die…please please.’ She was the only small fraction of hope that he had in this pathetic lifetime. He took his own paw and clawed off the mud so she could see it was him. “Oh god. I didn’t know. I’m so sorry.” He went forward and nuzzled her now impaled body. “I will make this right. No more wars. And you will live…you have to live…you’re the only thing I have.”
He lay down next to her tears rolling down his bloody cheeks.
---------------------------------------
Her eyes were blurring from the bloodloss, but she too could remember the male from a few days before. ‘Love?’ Had she heard that right or was her mind just playing tricks as she died- probably the lather. Who would love her? She blinked a few more times in pain, and she tried to mouth out ‘I love you too’; but she was just too weak from the rip in her neck to say anything.
She was going to die. This was the end for her. She took one last good breath and then rolled over with her eyes closed for what she thought would be the last time.
------------------------------------
He watched as her breath turned shallow and her eyes closed. This was too much for him, he couldn’t leave her there to die. So with the last of his strength he took her body over his back and began to run with her from the battlefield. They would find a safe place without war. They would have puppies and a good life.
And so he ran, ran for his life, ran for her life, ran towards the freedom he hoped that they would find.

[Little stars, all in a line~]
Entering for: Female Name: Almasi'mwanga Meaning: 'Diamond lights' in swahili - named for how the stars look like diamonds in the night sky Rank: Star-Tracker Personality: Shy and retiring. She prefers to hang back and let her siblings take the lime light. Fully aware that their mother holds a position of great important in the pack she is rather nervous about doing or saying anything that would make the pack think badly about her family. As a result she tends to over-think things which leads to her missing out on conversations, as by the time she has formulated something appropriate to say, the conversation has moved onto a new topic. As a result many think he either slow or just air-headed, when in fact she is exceptionally bright with a sharp, intelligent mind.
It takes along time for her to feel comfortable around anyone and as a result she tends to stick to her small family group for most of her puphood, which includes the pups of her mother's co-ruler, as they are of the same age and same social standing, she feels a stronger connection to Alnitak's litter than the other youngsters in the pack. This doesn't mean she sees her family and Alnitak's as better than the rest, only that Alnitak's pups understand how scary it is to have the eyes of the whole pack on you at such a young age. Not until she grows and matures does she start trying to form friendships within the rest of the pack, revealing her truly sweet and gentle nature
Prompt #: 2 Prompt Response: Somehow she had discovered herself alone in the tunnel. She had been absorbed in studying the star-maps drawn over the stone walls, fascinated by the shapes and patterns the stars made and fancying that she could see some kind of story unfolding before her the harder she stared. Only the sudden sound behind her of a sneeze was loud enough to break her concentration and make her glance over her shoulder to see what was there. Twin glowy pinpricks and glowing melty-ness made her squeak in fright, scrambling backwards before her eyes re-adjusted to looking at something other than star-patterns on a cave wall. Realising it was another pup that stood there she dragged a harsh breath into her frozen lungs and offered a jittery, embarrassed giggle that sounded a little to high.
"Uh... hello... I... didn't see you there." Still feeling all breathless, her fur prickling from her fright, she tried to smile in a friendly manner, but could barely hear the pup's reply from around the beating of her heart against her ribs. However, her mind was clearly more focused than her instincts as she recognized the honestly rather scary figure as a son of her mother's rival-friend. Relaxing a little more from her scare she managed, this time, to give him a real smile, her fur finally smoothing back along her spine from her shocked reaction. "I'm --- How did you find me?" Shyly she took a step forwards, wanting to get to know this boy who was the same age as her. Maybe he would be a little less wild than her brothers... and would sit and talk to her...

[Little stars, all in a line~]
Entering for: Female. <3 Name: Kućaltelid / Kućalte / Elidalte / Lańakućalte / Numasíválta / Kidü'kućalte (or simply Kidü'kuća/Kidüku) / etc, all Carpathian origin. Meaning: It will roughly mean "blessed by the stars", potentially with "daughter" tucked in there. I find naming to be the hardest part of any contest, and it's something I'm currently agonizing over. xD; The last one, as a rough translation: "Blessed by the Stars to Arise"/"Blessed and Awakened by the Stars".
Name-perfectioniist--though the longer ones she can have her name shortened to Alte, or something similar. I'll try to come up with simpler names, too, and use my trusty elimination to narrow them down (though I can't do this before the contest closes, sorry!). Rank: A lot of potential for this girl (and shall be decided largely through RP): Star-Tracker--love of the stars, she'd want to know all she could about them, despite her whimsical nature. Collosus--for the irony. Aurora--she's got love for the stars, she'd make a good entertainer, the stars whispering their stories for her to share with her pack. Personality: This little pup is absolutely enamored with the stars, and for the most part, she comes off as a very innocent, very whimsical, baby. She doesn't exactly like that she has to be with the Nannies a lot of the time, but lacks no love from her mother. And as much as she may rather dislike staying with the Nannies, it provides ample opportunity to learn and star gaze!
She may have been borne into a world of conflict, but especially right now, it doesn't seem to touch her. As she grows, those in the pack may find that she is, indeed, actually aware of the tension and danger...but she tends to bury however she truly feels for it in her devotion to the stars, in her love for the heavens within the sky. She fervently believes they can show them the way out, to a better life than what's currently going on. Perhaps she's truly naive, in that sense.
She tends to be somewhat easily intimidated, though moreso from any stark silences she's treated with, far above loud, harsh words or physical displays of intimidation.
Prompt #: C-C-C-COMBO! 1 & 2 for your whole. meal. deal!
Prompt Response:
The young, sky-eyed pup gazed at the night sky. She'd slipped away, to the edge of the pack as they slept, knowing that at least one older member had their watchful eyes on her--but she revealed no outward hint she knew. Her gaze fastened onto the sky, and she gave a soft, happy sigh as her eyes locked onto the heavens above.
The pack adored her and her siblings, though they treasured all the pups from all the litters, she felt undeniably special that they seemed to love her and her siblings as family. It was a whole, real blessing that she had such love, from an early age. She could drown happily in it, but sometimes even she needed to breathe, needed to wrap herself in the warmth of the stars.
The stars called to her, drew her in and comforted her. She had no father, but she was blessed by the stars--a daughter of those celestial bodies themselves. She was never alone, especially not at night. The stars welcomed her, and she had no doubt they would keep her safe from all harm.
A scuffling sound drew her attention, despite her reverence for the sparkling beads of light above. The pup muffle a semi-frightened squeak, felt her heart pounding in her chest...until she realized who it was before her. One of the other pups, she knew. Aurinko. And she knew who birthed him, on what tension was between her mother and his. It was a sense in the air, thick and heavy and oppressive.
She settled herself, gave the most winning smile she could as her heart calmed, and her natural demeanor returned.
"...hi." She mumbled, her gaze returning above, then flicking back down, as if she wanted to pay attention to him, but the stars drew her back. They lifted her up. She folded her ears back, suddenly unnerved by the bright stare. The eyes challenged her, stared deep within and drew some of the most uncomfortable feelings she'd ever felt before in her very young life. White-tipped ears folded back, and she hunched a little lower, gaze darting up quickly to the sky, though his eyes...
They still burned through her.
They still reached through to her soul, flung the gates open wide to his perusal.
"Please, look at the sky." She almost begged, but there was a type of reverence in her tone. A wonder that wasn't there when she'd said hi, before. Thankfully, giving her some respite, he did. He said nothing, either unsure of her, or finding her somehow lacking. "They whisper to me~"
A blissful sigh.
"They're so pretty, aren't they?"
Her voice was musical, light with her total adoration of the balls of light that winked and danced, for her, for their pack. Perhaps she could bond with this fellow pup. Maybe. He seemed most intent on not speaking to her, at all. In fact, moments after she asked, he got up and slipped away, the footfalls of his small paws seeming to echo in her ears, loud as her suddenly, rapid, thrumming heartbeat. It was the worst kind of intimidation, and even as the stars comforted her, she sank to her belly, curling her tail close for the physical comfort it gave her. She stifled a whimper, and let her heart out to the stars, giving it to their keeping.
"Please, guide us and love us. Keep us always in your light and warmth. I love you, so."
( Because I'm shameless, I totally would be interested in potential plots, should Aurinko's owner be, too. )
