Challenge 8: Seven Deadly Sins
Feedback

1. x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ella)
Positive: Ella looks good in blue ... The description was alright ...
Negative: YOU WILL BURN FOREVER MORE FOR THE SIN OF
USING THOUGHT BUBBLES! ... You went literal. Goddamnit, you went literal.

2. milk cap (Sheenah)
Positive: The flames that burn the soil Sheenah walks are brilliant.
They match her hair and the headpiece wonderfully.
Negative: What happened to the colour matching, Girlie? You say that
you wanted a specific armmod that only came in burgundy and then you
didn't match the burgundy shades. Orange, Red and Yellow would have
been your friend in this task.

5. elphiethesane (Helen)
Positive: You are the description master. If anyone wants advice on writing
a good description, they best go to you! You speak eloquently about
your model and your design process, that a blind person would be able
to respect your work.
Negative: A different, less obvious colour scheme might have been a
nice treat, even if these colours do work well with Helen. It could have
also used a bit more colour balancing as the purple on the bottom is
quite heavy.

8. HCTotorro (Nicki)
Positive: Boy, does Nicki just pop in colours! We have yet to see a colour
or shade that this model can't rock. Also a big kudos - with a design that
busy, it's amazing that you kept your model visible.
Negative: It would have been nice to break up the orange just a wee bit.
Where you lost most marks was in the description. You know the
challenge well and you have no problem describing the thoughts behind
the work, but you explained no action. We want to hear the process of
adding and eliminating items.

10. AmberEmma (Wanda)
Positive: Damn girl, do you have guts and creativity! At this stage in the
game, where lots of people want to play it safe, you pull out your bag of
tricks. Normally, a model with her back turned would be a horrific thought,
but it works in this instance. With the description backing it up, it was a
delight to view. The judges can't wait to see more gold on Wanda.
Negative: YOU WILL BURN FOREVER MORE FOR THE SIN OF
USING THOUGHT BUBBLES! Really, Amber!! This was pure poetry
before you added an ugly dark smudge on it. We want less black smudge
and more gold! The image is clear enough that you can 'show instead of tell'.

11. Alesaan (Sarah)
Positive: You know your model, Alesaan! Sarah can come off as brutish
at times, but here, you softened her up and drenched her in feminine aura.
Negative: Overall, the image is just simply stunning, but when you
look deeper, it begins to look a little bit simple. Without the background,
this would be reduced to a girl in a shirt, which is 'bland'.

15. Dante Dolly (Melissa)
Positive: The colour scheme, though less flattering on Melissa, made a
point and brought 'envy' to the forefront of our minds. Even without
the description, it was very clear - The 'Green Eyed Monster'!
Negative: Despite the explanation, you really could have used a darker
green for the top of the design. Even something so simple as a dark
green swirl could have benefit you here. The slime straddled a fine
line between theme and grossly inappropriate, so be more careful in
the future. Oh, and don't forget - YOU WILL BURN FOREVER MORE
FOR THE SIN OF USING THOUGHT BUBBLES!

Model: Sarah
Designer: Alesaan

Description: I laughed so hard at the challenge. I immediately thought of Lady Gaga (and her gimmicky costumes back in the day), a fundraiser that could have a goofy hat as it raises money among the rich for a local beach or bay or something, or a new fashion designer trying to make a splash (sorry, couldn't resist) and stand out as he or she brings in attention while using a gimmick to draw the attention to the gorgeous clothes.

So all gimmicks, and I know the challenge said don't do gimmicks, but I'm pretty sure I can't think of anything not gimmicky. So shrugged, I embraced the idea of a gimmicky plush pal, went to design something chic, picked the blue color and then started finding pieces from there.

After the outfit was complete with this very steampunk-elegance vibe going on that I really loved Sarah in (including the black lace hat that makes her look like she either has an eyepatch, or super black eyeshadow on her lid as she is winking - I thought both interpretations were fun), I ran into trouble trying to find a background. I envisioned this piece to be a designer showing off the models and clothes on a runway. I didn't like any of the backgrounds Gaia had. So I tried this one on a whim.

While almost too busy for me, the energy of it and the complimentary colors I thought made it a perfect fit. This stage performer looks completely normal with an octopus plush on her head with this background to me (anyone else think that when looking at this combo of her outfit + the background?), and that itself is incredible feat in my opinion.

Enigma
Model: Melissa
Designer: Dante Dolly

Description: After spending an entire evening designing this avatar I can safely say this is–hands down–the most complex thing I've ever attempted. Let me walk you through my process.

I too chuckled at the theme description, but I wasn't laughing when I buckled down because I realized how hard this was going to be. First I chose the color of octopus I wanted. The green looked wretched and red has been shunned on Melissa before so I was left with blue. My first concept was to make her bloody and netted in a sort of protest rally, but it felt too much like darker things I'd done before. A beach scene felt too silly and nothing else really clicked without feeling too kitschy. Then I realized I was trying too hard to make logic out of the squid. So instead I decided to embrace it and make it fashion. And what fashion embraces the absurd and makes it stylish? Avant-guard, the innovative, unusual, and colorful art.

While avant-guard can have many looks, one common element is size. Big head-pieces, big skirts. So I began the task of building this look one piece at a time. I started with the head. I wanted to build an elaborate headdress around the octopus without concealing it. I chose pink and blue as my base colors and built on with purple and flecks of red as I found items that complimented. Moving down I chose a blue-black shirt to balance the undertones of our undersea pal, a pale collar to keep the silhouette interesting, and cute arms with flecks of black on one side and purple on the other.

At last there was the skirt and legs. The skirt is five items on its own, a complex layering of net, lace, and ruffle, while the legs attempt to balance the extremely picky blues of the octo-friend. As a final touch I put on the skull antlers to better equal out the size on top and bottom and to compliment the skulls on her skirt.

In the end, I'm unsure if my design will be greeted as a hot look or a hot mess, but I can confidently say I'm pleased with the final design.

Focal Point
Model: Wanda
Designer: AmberEmma

Description:
So as soon as I saw this challenge the ocean theme popped into my head. At first, I toyed around with the idea but after making a few outfits I felt as though everything I added to it drowned out the three most important things. That being the squid, the outfit, and Wanda herself. So after trying different color schemes, I settled on white with hints of blue. I wanted to draw attention to the squid but found that with an outfit of blue, the squid simply faded away. So to fix that I chose to go with a white dress that has hints of light blue. I went with light blue cause I found that it helped the blue of the squid stand out. It feels as though the outfit builds up to the squid. I also stayed away from a background on this one for the reasons stated above. The background would always take away more than it gave. All in all, I feel like the design is simple but fashionable. It doesn't overwhelm but compliments the main focal point.

Challenge 9: You Made Me Ink
Designer Name: HCTotorro
Model Name: Nicki
Outfit Title: Fauxshion
Description: Nicki partnered up with an up and coming edgy fashion designer that spits on the rules of fashion these days and wants to say "******** you" to the ever replicating garbage that keeps getting spewed out on the runways!

Design:
First of all this challenge was really hard! emo
The idea sounded easy...
Until I realized that those octopi came out SOOOO long ago and don't have many items that match their shades gonk
So the ******** you in my design was actually to the challenge itself because it hurt me a lot haha (no offence to anyone though!)
*DISCLAIMER*
Now I KNOW that I literally just did an orange design, but in my defense that was assigned to me so it was kind of necessary, this was by choice, and I kinda love it so don't hate me crying

Okay so I knew that I wanted to go with green because I felt like it would be the harder of the three to design for (and it's my favorite color so...)
I started off trying to find elegant dresses and such, but nothing was working for me.
So then I thought "okay fashion, fashion...Hmm, lemme try something avant garde too" but alas, I got stuck halfway on two separate designs because I couldn't balance then correctly.

That's when I started getting upset and decided to use that as my concept lol
I wanted to include mismatched fabrics and textures to kinda emulate a frantic feeling.
Frayed fabrics to show how beat down I am from this challenge.
I started off with a Venomous color scheme because I thought Nicki looked interesting in it and the green kind of went with the octopus, but the more I layered on items the more Toxic it looked which really isn't the octocolor.
That's when the Creamsicle colors jumped out at me and honestly I love them.
I finished off the design with accessories to tie in the white portions of the outfit and also used some layering tricks throughout.
Then threw her a** on the runway to send the message home rofl

From The Deep
Designer: elphiethesane
Model: Helen
Description: Well this one was a challenge! When I saw what item we had to work with, I immediately knew I’d have two major obstacles, matching colors and justifying the octopus itself. I know from past attempts that matching older items can be extremely tricky, so I decided to start there, and spent quite a bit of time just comparing each of the octopus items to various color schemes, trying to figure out what matched best. Ultimately I decided on using the blue, since I struggled to find many green items that matched to my satisfaction, and I wanted to do something different after my last critique and was a little worried the pinks I was picking out were too similar to my previous entries. It didn’t hurt that I quickly found this particular combo of blues and black and fell in love with it. I love how “glowy” the blues look, and on top of that it seemed like using dark colors on Helen would be a nicely unusual move. I did originally want to work in some other shades of blue, but unfortunately the items that matched were few and didn’t layer properly.

As far as justifying the octopus, that was a little easier. I quickly came up with the idea of trying to do something more “avant garde” looking with an ocean/underwater theme... My only worry was that doing a theme like that would look gimmicky no matter what I intended. But then I came up with the idea of not directly using any ocean related items, and instead relying on things I thought were reminiscent of those things without directly referencing them. Like my use of lace, which was meant to be reminiscent of coral.

I struggled writing this description, because I wanted to point out all those little things and didn’t know how to explain them without the description getting extremely long. So I decided to just list out a few things in bullet points instead, which I’ll keep under a spoiler bellow. I’ve got to say I like this design a lot more than I ever expected, given the challenge!

  • The beads on top of her head and draped into her hood made me think of drops of water, or the kinds of adornment you’d see on a mermaid.
  • Trailing ribbons meant to be reminiscent of tentacles... When I first started these were more obvious, but it got somewhat lost as I built up the skirt. It’s still there, though, and I think the final product looks good enough to justify the choice. The other little tendrils in the final product could also be considered part of that.
  • Part of the skirt has what looks like net over it, making me think of catching fish. It’s scalloped shape could also be considered reminiscent of fish scales, which is echoed in one of the head items.

Gusty Dusky

Designer: milk cap
Model: Sheenah
Description:
Over the course of the competition, I've been longing to make a cutesy entry. I was held back by thinking, "Oh, that wouldn't fit Sheenah at all!" However, I think I made an outfit that Sheenah would definitely wear on her more girly days. If I was going to put Sheenah in a cutesy outfit, this was the best theme, because it's down to the last contestants and we have to take risks. Even if Sheenah doesn't actually look good in it, at least I got to make one cute entry.

I began by, of course, finding a color that would match that darned octopus. Since it's an old hat, it doesn't have a name for its color, and there's likely no color on Gaia that's exactly like it. The closest I was able to find was duskrose, and surprisingly there aren't as many items in duskrose as I thought there were. I prevailed, though!

First came the underlying dress, then the adorable legmod that gives off a demure feel. Originally, I had a bow added to the dress, but once I added the armmod it looked better with a scarf, making it look like she's clutching onto the edges of her scarf. I hoped to achieve the illusion of a cardigan with the armmod paired with the overskirt, but even if I didn't I still think it's pretty cute. I paired the octopus with a bow, to make it look more like an accessory, and some glasses. Then the semi-background and leaves came last!

Challenge 9: You Made Me Ink
Feedback

2. milk cap (Sheenah)
Positive: This is a cute look, and we admire you going with your heart
and presenting a look that is true to you! It looked like Sheenah was going on
an Autumn date, and we wanted to tag along.
Negatives: Proportions were a little off at times and made Sheenah look
heavier, and it felt like the octopus was an after thought more than the central
part of the look.

5. elphiethesane (Helen)
Positive: This color scheme is gorgeous on Helen! The color effect of
looking like she was standing in water was wonderful, and the balance of
everything was spot on. Great work!
Negative: Helen was perhaps a bit covered up, and details in the darker
items were harder to see, but that's really it.

8. HCTotorro (Nicki)
Positive: You toed the line of gimicky, but it was tongue in cheek enough
to be appreciated. The catwalk background was also a great decision.
Negative: The red might have worked better on Nicki than the green,
which kind of washes her out.

10. AmberEmma (Wanda)
Positive: Wanda is cute, look is nice and simple, even a bit elegant.
Negative: After such a strong submission last round, this was an
incredibly weak submission that left us disappointed. The colors weren't the
best for Wanda, and at this point in the competition we expect to see more
effort than a handful of items - however good they may be. The octopus was
out of place, and there was nothing to even start to explain why there was
an octopus. You are very lucky that you were on top last round and had
immunity.

11. Alesaan (Sarah)
Positive: Lady Gaga extreme was the perfect choice for this challenge,
and was exactly what we wanted to see. The octopus fits in with the
relationship wonderfully, and the colors are great as well. Sarah is a
steampunk pop diva and we loved it.
Negative: The outfit was perhaps a little simple, and it relied on the
background to pull the look together.

15. Dante Dolly (Melissa)
Positive: Melissa is drowning in avant garde fashion, and we were here
for it at the end of the day. The colors looked great together, and the octopus
absolutely worked with this piece. There is so much going on, but everything
is in place and so carefully decided, it's impressive.
Negative: The black in the outfit wasn't needed, even though you were
trying to tie in to the black on the octopus. We can also barely see Melissa
because there's just so much going on, and we don't want to lose the model.

Challenge 10: Wiggin' Out
Designer Name: HCTotorro
Model Name: Nicki
Outfit Title: Con Season
Description: Nicki decided to take a stab at the cosplay life since its convention season. She dressed up as her favorite RPG heroine for the occasion.

Design:
I instantly knew I wanted to use the Bastet hair as it's my all time favorite and fit the B&W theme.
Nicki has had short hair for far too long though so I decided to pair it with a nice floor length extension (everyone loves the broom hair duster style right? xD).
Since it's more of an off white/ivory I decided to go with that as my shade of white and decided to pair it with off black.

One thing I told myself earlier in the competition was that if I had the chance I would use other poses from the Queen of Executions item that her base trait face is from, and today was that day!
Amazingly, the shirt texture has a very similar look to the hair which I thought tied them in nicely.
I originally used a different handmod that looked more adventurous but it was an almost navy looking black compared to the offblack items.
Every other one I tried just got lost, so I decided to go with an ivory handmod.
I felt it flowed nicely as a continuation of the shirt.
And the embellishments kinda go with those on the jacket.

At first for my "background" I wanted to use this gorgeous snowy foresty looking one that had an almost avant-garde feel, and also had little cherry things on the branches that matched Nicki's eyes perfectly and were in line with them too.
But I thought that would stray from the theme so I reluctantly got rid of it.
Then I threw on the ambiguous background motifs to continue with my full backgroundless tirade (which I had to compromise on last challenge ¬_¬)
It was really fun not being restrained by the hair and I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with!

Impish Delight
Model: Melissa
Designer: Dante Dolly

Description: I don't know if anyone has caught onto this yet, but I have a lot of trouble distinguishing shades, particularly blues and blacks, because my color detection is a little off and so this challenge was very tedious because I was constantly checking tags to make sure everything matched. I knew right away I wanted to give Melissa wings this round because I hadn't used them on her yet. At first I wanted to go all black for an Angel of Mercy sort of look, but no matter what combos I did she always ended up an inky mess.

Switching gears, I changed my approach to an impish/demonic creature instead and chose pure white and off-black as my prime colors. I started with the wings, one of each color and added on from there. I knew I wanted her to have an innocent appearance to match her face and so the draping sleeves were a natural choice. I found some cute legs that worked well with the arm mod and built the dress out of several small pieces.

I put the horns and roses in her hair to continue my sweet/evil juxtaposition. Originally I had roses throughout the design, but at the last minute realized they were ivory and stood off like a sore thumb and so removed them, but I still like the volume and elegance the pure white ones add to the horns and so they remained. I would have found replacements, but pure white is an older scheme with limited options, so I opted to simply balance out the whites in her devil tail instead.

Finally came the hair, which is four parts, a base, agape to trim nonmatching hair-clips, side extensions, and a ponytail. In the end I love how sweet and devious she turned out.

Finally, I wanted a background but everything turned her into a grayscale girl and so I put in some flames and here we have it!

Monochromatic

Model: Wanda
Designer: Amber Emma

Description: With this outfit I wanted to go more with a forest goddess-like style. I contemplated using a background but often found that too often it'd take away from the outfit. Honestly, I had a bit of a hard time finding the type of hair I wanted for her. Her original hair works so well with her soft face and I found that many styles didn't have the same effect so it took quite a bit of digging to find one I really liked. With this one, I felt it added to the forest aesthetic and I knew I had to get that across since I couldn't use a background.

I went with a simple black dress and used a white underdress to help add some white to the bottom. As with the arms I wanted to add white to the top of the dress as well but not too much that it'd take away from it. I found an arm mod that had a transparent cloth that worked perfectly with what I wanted. I also noticed that it positioned the arm in such a way that a bird could land on it so after a bit of searching I found a simple black crow. All in all, I really like how this outfit turned out and I think Wanda goes perfectly with it.

The Contestant

Model: Sarah
Designer: Alesaan

Description: I had the worst time choosing which design to submit. I made a bunch of what I thought were strong and beautiful designs, but none that were perfect.

While I'm honestly in this competition merely because I love to design (I'm one of the least competitive people on this planet), and like to see what I make per a challenge a bazillion times more then seeing how to improve my skills, I am listening to the feedback I've received!

So I couldn't be too simple with my outfit after the last feedback I got. And I couldn't go over the top, as I go too over as to overpower the model as per what I have been told. And I can't have a background that makes the outfit/wig work (it must be able to stand by itself completely without it) also per criticism I've gotten a few times.

The only one that hit all those notes or came close is the one above. [others are here with why I didn't think they were as strong in case you were interested in why I was grappling so badly.]

Does she have her tats visible? Nope, body make up is a model's bff. Is her outfit solely white and black? Nada. There is a green leaf for sure within the comb in her hair. Did I put on some blush? Yep I certainly did.

My thought process was if we are now being given a chance to play with their base traits, I'm taking that inch and breaking all the rules shy of the two cardinal ones for this competition: 1) the hair must be the focal point and 2) the outfit/hair must be black and white (though it didn't say solely technically, so I hope the green leaf won't count against me, but so be it if it does).

I'm at the stage where ya it would be fun to win, but really I just like designing for these challenges so much that if the design I think is best for a challenge gets me disqualified, it was worth it. I'll go out with an awesome design that I really got to have fun with Sarah in and I hope others enjoyed seeing Sarah in too.

She is wearing a ton of layers though it doesn't really look like it. And though shoeless seems a bit odd, it gave the ballgown that amazing cutout where then I had to design a bodice so she didn't have just undies showing. And Sarah strikes me that if she was ever in a pageant as a contestant, she'd kick off her heels before walking on stage as a matter of comfortable rebellion (or that could just be me projecting as it is absolutely what I would do lol). And while her hair is a simple design (though huge), and her gown elaborate, my eye won't stop moving to the hair. The hair is the focal point in this design per my eye (and I hope for others too).

Creature Feature
Designer: elphiethesane
Model: Helen
Description: So this one is a bit more of a story than usual, so please forgive the length, but I felt I needed to explain the whole process for my train of thought to make sense on this one.

When I saw the challenge, I was pretty excited, since it’s right up my alley. I knew straight off I wanted to aim for off black and/or off white, since I figured the harshness of pure black and pure white wouldn’t look good on Helen. I also decided early on I wanted to do a historical based design, just because I was in the mood for it.

The trouble was theme. Like I said, I wanted to do historical, and I eliminated anything 50s inspired right away because of my previous 50s influenced entry. But that still leaves a lot of eras to play with... I toyed with a few ideas, even completed entries, but I wasn’t completely satisfied with any of them. The closest was these film noir, femme fatale looks I was doing... I loved the idea of doing something inspired by black and white movies for a black and white challenge. I tried extremely hard to make it work, but unfortunately everything I came up with seemed both too simple and predominately black, which seemed like a bad idea after my last entry. That and the eyebrows on the white hair tended to all but vanish against and make her face look weird, so I felt I had to replace them, but the replacements just made her look angry, which isn’t the vibe I was going for at all.

I was ready to give up and just submit my backup entry, when I had a thought... What if I did something inspired by old monster movies? It’s still black and white movies for a black and white challenge, and I may have better luck with different items. I still had some time, so I figured I’d at least take a look. I didn’t want to try to do something based on an obvious monster, so I started digging around for less obvious ideas. Which is when I stumbled on a mention of a movie where a woman was convinced she’d turn into a panther, which immediately reminded me of the panther lady portrait from the Haunted Mansion, which has always been a favorite of mine.

And that was my breakthrough. I decided to do my own take on that portrait, with an elegant animal lady (though I aimed more for werewolf than panther since I liked the idea of combining it with a classic monster type). And luckily my femme fatale looks had plenty of good ideas for that elegant side, so I could use them after all! Plus the fiercer look on her face was perfect for the new version... I pictured someone who’s as wild as she is elegant, a mix of untamed animal and old school Hollywood.

This is already long so I won’t go into all the specifics about my choices, but I do want to talk briefly about the hair, since that’s a focal point of the challenge. Through most of my attempts, I played with a different wig entirely, which still had the vintage flair but was very full and curly, making it feel a little wilder than the more structured base hair I ended up going with. But then I added a second bang item to the hair to cover up her ear and make her look more creature like, and the result was perfect. The extra piece makes the hair fuller and more mane like, making me think of the wild animal I wanted her to be, but still had that perfect vintage wave to it. I think it perfectly shows the two sides of her I wanted to show.

5. elphiethesane (Helen)
Positive: The description was great and tied into the look wonderfully.
The dress and background props really paint a clear picture of elegance
and sophistication.
Negative: The brows were a big distraction. It has been a fad in
fashion to have dark brows with light hair, but it looks out of place on
Helen, who also has very fair and feminine features. That being said,
changing the brows wasn't our intention when we said to change the hair,
but as it wasn't directly specified, you weren't docked for it.

8. HCTotorro (Nicki)
Positive: You speak so passionately about your design and it
comes through in an overall beautiful garment. The hair was a grand
choice for Nicki.
Negative: Although you speak with such passion, the motif is lost
in translation as it doesn't really read 'RPG'. The black on black is also a
little hard to make out. It would have been much cleaner without a background.

10. AmberEmma (Wanda)
Positive: The theme comes across clearly and the hair looks perfect
on the dark complexion model.
Negative: There's miscommunication between the top and bottom of
the model. One judge suggested to make the bottom half slimmer,
perhaps with some skin tight pants, so that her hair could stand out.
Another judge suggested taking away the lumpy background items and
letting more of Wanda's face shine through. Also, the pinch of colour with
the gold belt doesn't look horrible, but it doesn't fit the theme.

11. Alesaan (Sarah)
Positive: The description really illuminated the entire outfit and
gave significant meaning to the design, which is both very elegant and
very sexy.
Negative: A change of hair might have helped. While the outfit is
so sexy, the hair reads 'Disney'. However, what's most damning to your
design is showing the other designs that are arguably better than the
one submitted (a mistake you've made in the past as well). When
you broadcast your better designs, it makes it that much easier to pick
apart what you did wrong in the one that's up for judging. We love
your enthusiasm in making multiple designs, but it would be a better idea
to wait until after judging to show them off.

15. Dante Dolly (Melissa)
Positive: Despite your issues with matching, you nailed it. The
shades work perfectly together, tied in with a good description and cool
hair choice for Melissa.
Negative: The hair, although gorgeous, wasn't made into a
centerpiece by any means. The horns are a big personality that eat up a
good chunk of the hair we can see and the rest of the hair is covered
with other, rather cluttered and messy looking items.

Description: I can't explain my joy at seeing the theme for this round. I have a lot of friends in burlesque and a passion for the art. I started right away with the Dazzling Rose item. It's one of my favorites on all of Gaia and I was torn if I wanted to use the skirt or the arms, but in the end that fabulous fan got across the showmanship I wanted for this avatar.

The headdress was harder. I knew I wanted something big and showy, and I used agape to lift Melissa's hair up, but beyond that I was blank. I started with the feathered pink showgirl cap, but the hot pink of the old item and general pixelation was a nightmare. So I found the softer black feathers and mixed it with big pink lace. I knew when Melissa walked on stage it would be the first thing to draw the eye, making the roam downward more satisfying.

I made a bold choice and opted to put Melissa toward the end of her dance and so she's down to tail feathers, pasties, panties, and gloves! She's been dancing all evening, shimming out of article after article and calling out to the audience with little taunts, Gypsy-style. Since this challenge is about burlesque I really wanted to focus on Melissa's body. I chose sexy legs (complete with color balancing black heels) with a bit of muscle but not so thick or thin to look unmatched on Melissa.

Lately I've abandoned backgrounds to avoid clutter, but burlesque begs for a stage and so I chose blue both for the sensual atmosphere and because the contrast pushes Melissa (rather than consumes her as the pink and red stages did).

Last but not least, I threw some confetti at her for that added pizzazz. In the end I'm very pleased and hope Melissa and I get to move on to the next round.
