"Modest Girl"

Model: Brooke
Designer: METTAT0N
Description: I formatted my post a little differently. If this isn't acceptable, please PM me and I'll change it.

Brooke is a beautiful girl. But this is the kind of challenge I wish I still had Trinity for. I still think this is a successful design, though.

I worked very hard to make sure she had the right silhouette, choosing a skinny leg to amplify the skirt volume. Like you said, it's a key feature to this fashion! Another thing I wanted to focus on, though, was accessories. I feel like wearing the right dress isn't quite enough for a complete lolita look. I ended up layering several head pieces, several skirts, and a few other things such as bows and jewelry. I feel like the glasses soften her eyes slightly, and lends to the look of a young lady of a delicate nature. I wasn't sure which arm pose to use and I'm sure something else would have worked just as well... but I'm not mad about the little Kiki umbrella. It's extremely cute and girly, and I find that it fits with the theme well.

The color scheme wasn't too difficult to choose. I know I've put Brooke in Demure before, but this design is more white-centric than my previous one, and creates a different image. Plus... she just looks so dang nice in it.

No more photos, please!
Designer: egggoat
Model: xoco

Honestly, I did not know anything about lolita fashion when this was assigned and I was completely dreading it.
I originally was thinking of making her a gothic or punk lolita because Xoco's face isn't exactly sweet. I made several looks but none of them really worked out; they were all too raggedy and dark and not cute enough.
Funnily enough, I have been watching a lot of videos recently about historical fashion and I decided to try out a hime look which incorporates more historically inspired fashion. I also liked that with the hime look, everything is clean, crisp, and structured.
I wanted to use these colors because I wanted to use pastel, but I didn't want everything to be very soft where it all just blobs together. I knew I wanted to use a parasol since they all carry them around when out and about, and I didn't want to add a bunch of accessories. I tried to keep things to a minimum so that the dress was the focal point and so nothing would disturb the lines of it. I added the glasses just to add a little color to her face.
I feel like Xoco looks pretty cute in this, even if her attitude doesn't really match.
Maybe she just got really tired of everyone taking her photo.

Sweet As Can Be

Designer: Tink_Bel

Model: Daphne

Description: As much as I missed Zahara this round, I just loved working with Daphne! She perfectly personifies this sweet style, and what color scheme is more sweet than marshmallow?! Daphne's preset features have ivory, pink, and purple undertones that match perfectly with this color scheme. These colors also show the pastel colors often seen in lolita fashion. I fit in bows, lace, and cute accessories everywhere they seemed to work, all the lolita outfits I saw in my research were a bit cluttered, but in a balanced and consistent manner. I tried to show this on my model. The hallmark of lolita fashion, the dress, is a combination of a dress, petticoat, and collar that (thank goodness) layered perfectly! One little detail that makes me happy is the way the arm mod makes it look like she's holding onto the strap of her little bag. Overall, I think my model looks like she was caught mid-strut down the street and she looks very naturalistic, yet posed. This was tons of fun, I haven't made a lolita style avi since the old gaia days (remember the limited lolita items we had back in 2010?! UGH!) I've also loved seeing the other entries and can't wait to see the rest! So kawaii!!

"Don't Speak"
Designer: khionna
Model: Veronica

Description:
For this challenge I chose to go the path of Gothic Lolita. Gothic lolita, follows the same basis as the other categories of lolita fashion, but it takes a darker turn. With rich, dark tones this sub-category stands out to me the most.

My favorite aspects of lolita fashion are the dresses and parasols. I love them. I also love how some people who follow the lolita trend also wear face masks with little details on theme (kind of like the splatters on the mask that I used here).

For this challenge I knew that I wanted to use darker tones to help compliment Veronica's skin and hair. I searched through a few different color schemes and various shades of purples, reds, browns, and blacks. I then found the Leonine scheme and really liked the way it looked for this challenge.

After toying around with various lolita style dresses I found the one used. I love the stained glass window pattern on the dress and it matches well with the gothic lolita style. I (personally) didn't think it was poofy enough, so I layered another dress underneath. After this, I thought that it needed a few more details so I added on the collar and the bow.

While choosing legs, I realized that while we do have quite a few options for cutesy, lolita-ish legs, we don't have a lot in the way of gothic lolita style legs. Then I found these. I thought they did well to compliment the style of my design while pulling all of the colors to the bottom of her outfit.

I then started looking for a mask. I feel that using a mask when working with gothic lolita helps to pull the feel of the outfit together. After searching through a few medical style masks I finally found one that I liked! It also helped to pull some white into the area around Veronica's face.

Lastly, she needed a parasol. I know, I can have a lolita without a parasol, but (for me) that is one of the key focuses of the style so she feels incomplete without one. However, gaia is severely lacking in diversity when it comes to umbrellas/parasols. I had no idea that our options were so limited. After searching, I found the Dead Company parasol and I felt that it fit my design the best.

I feel that this outfit design is finally complete and can stand it's own when compared to other lolita fashioned outfits. I really wanted it to seem like she was dressed for a lolita fashion show, or walking the streets of Tokyo showing off her fashion sense. After working on the tiny details of this outfit, I feel that I have done just that. Veronica is now ready to walk out and show everyone just how versed in gothic lolita style she really is!

(I'm sorry if this description is ramble-y and doesn't make complete sense. I haven't been feeling too well this week, so please forgive me.)

The princess arrives.
Designer: Kiwi Cannoli
Model: Zahara
Description: I'm not really used to Zahara so trying to figure out what colors looked best on her was one of the hardest parts. At first I thought I wanted to make a gothic lolita outfit, but the dark colors I chose didn't really go with her; in the end I decided to make her a Hime lolita. I started playing around with pastel next, eventually deciding on the graceful color scheme. It took a lot longer to find an armmod that went with everything then id like to admit. eventually I found the glass dream item and I like how it looks with the rest of the avi.
Also, I choose the crown because ever other crown item looked weird on her, but I like how this one looks on her.

6. khionna (Veronica)
Positive: It was nice to see an adorable little gothic lolita babe in the mix of models! This color scheme lends itself well to Veronica, and it was nice to see so many layers and levels to everything in the look.
Negative: The shoes were a little odd and the mask was a lot of white that covers a lot of her face. One of the biggest problems? You used the same parasol that egg did, just in a different color. At this point there is truly no excuse, there are other parasol items out there.

10. Tink_Bel (Daphne)
Positive: This was a good lolita look, nicely balanced and layered, and it was nice to see some definite differences from the earlier looks!
Negative: The colors are a little pale on Daphne, if they were just a bit more saturated I think this look would have been stronger and would have popped. With the pale scheme on pale Daphne it just ended up a little washed out.

11. METTAT0N (Brooke)
Positive: Brooke looks so good in demure, and this look with it's balance is great on her! It is entirely lolita and was a strong first submission.
Negative: The glasses layer over the hair. Over. The hair. That little layering glitch takes away from the entire outfit. And as pale as the glasses are, they do nothing for the look where they don't glitch either. Arm mod is also the wrong color.

14. Kiwi Cannoli (Zahara)
Positive: The skirt and arm pose were nice, and they were a nice mix up to see from the others. It was nice to see you being creative and doing your own thing.
Negative: It was nice, great even, to see the creativity but it just didn't really pay off. The crown doesn't fit the look or them and looks a bit cheap. The whole thing feels a bit more princess-y than lolita. Some more layers in the skirt might have made it feel more lolita.

15. egggoat (Xoco)
Positive: You've nailed it. Xoco looks amazing, this is adorable and lolita, and it's just great. There are so many layers and little details, which is just fantastic.
Negative: The glasses were a little odd, most judges would have been just fine with or without them. Also could have been nice to see a bit more added to the skirt.

April Showers Bring May Flowers
Designer: khionna
Model: Veronica

Description:
Ah, Spring. The season full of pastels, flowers, and... rain.

For this look I really wanted to dress Veronica in pastels. Whites, light blues, and yellows remind me of Easter while the hints of tea green make me think of grass and blooming flowers. I also really wanted to incorporate a way to show Spring as what it is, a rainy season.

I worked really hard to bring this look together as a more fashion forward outfit, instead of trying to incorporate actual flowers, rain, etc. At this point in the competition I want to show that I can portray a theme without smacking everyone in the face with obvious items.

I thought the combination of the rain coat and galoshes/rain boots was a cute combo. Luckily for me, they also came in pastel colors! I did have to layer a few skirts/dresses together to get the color combo that I was wanting in the outfit, but I feel that it came together well in the end. I then found the cute hat that matched the combo well.

I wanted to incorporate green into my look, as spring is a very green season, but I still wanted to follow the pastel scheme. As a result, I decided to go with tea green. I think the small accents of tea (the skirt and glasses) help pull the look together and help give it the feel of Spring that I was after without overshadowing the pastel yellows and blues that are so prominent to the season.

Over all I feel that this is a nice look and represents my season well. I am happy with how she turned out and hopefully you guys like her too. <3

It finally let me finish the avatar! I've remade this like 7 times. sweatdrop

User Image Autumn's Truth
Designer: METTAT0N
Model: Brooke
Description...
These server issues been a nightmare for everyone else? Been trying to post this for about an hour now.

I expected to just go in on this and make a halloween costume, but something made me stop. I don't know what. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that a lot of ideas people have about this season are based around kind of small parts of it. I wanted to portray more what Autumn feels like when you're actually out in nature.

I went through a lot of color variants and tests trying to make her outfit, but the background stayed in the woodlands/decay family pretty much. I just had to find a melamoori jacket that didn't have a black hood, because it just blended into her hair and looked weird. I also didn't want to make Demure Brooke #473.

Endless Summer
Designer: egggoat
Model: Xoco

She strolled along the beach, savoring the last of the heat from the day as the sun sunk below the horizon.
She knew others found the heat to be oppressive, but she never could; it was in her bones.

I liked this challenge because it was actually really challenging for me. I much prefer autumn or winter; I've never liked summer since I grew up in a desert and it would be too hot to go outside in the summertime. So I really had a lot of trouble figuring out what to do here.
My immediate reaction was to NOT do a beach scene. They are so boring to me. I didnt want her to be just another girl in a bikini in bright blue water. I also wanted to stay away from those jarring bright, almost luminescent colors that take over everything during summertime.
I was originally thinking of going more french riviera, with tailored shirts tucked into linen shorts in a sun bleached surrounding. However, that was difficult to convey in the limited confines of the Gaia avatar maker. Then I tried for a more practical nature hiking look but that wasn't really jiving either nor was it very fashionable.
I realized that none of it was working because none of it was Xoco. I decided to lean into more of a Caribbean look that was full of rich colors and personality. I started off with the legs and the beautiful teal fabric and then made the headwrap and I just loved it all so much. Once I had those two things, it was so easy to finish it off.
I wasn't sure what background to put her in. I started off with more of a desert, given that the sunbaked soil and the heat is what I think of for summer, but I tried on this background and it was like the cherry on top and I fell in love with this... even though it IS a beach scene; the one thing I wanted to stay away from.

When I think of summer, this is what I think of; the long days and the colorful skies.
I've always felt like sunset is the best part of the day since you finally get a cool breeze and everything softens without the harsh sunlight.

I feel like this whole competition was leading up to this look for Xoco where she can finally be her true self.

Winter Wonderland

Designer: Tink_Bel

Model: Zahara

Description: I had a lot of trouble finding the perfect motif to represent winter. Do I dress her in Christmas garment? Ice queen? Frozen? Winter gear? Maybe it's because I'm from Montana and 3/4 of the year is winter, but there is so much that can represent winter.

I finally landing on a freshly fallen snow look, maybe because that's all I can see when I look outside my window. I represented this idea not only though the wintertime background; but, through the colors, fluffiness, and loose look of her outfit. This isn't snow that has been sitting for months on end, getting stepped on, driven over, played in, etc. until it's an icy, slushy mess that you just wish would melt; this is freshly fallen snow. This is waking up in the morning and running outside to jump into cloud like snow to make a snow angel, this is a beautiful part of winter we often forget about.

While representing this idea, I also wanted to create an outfit that is realistic to wear outside in winter. This fluffy dress and fur coat are not only beautiful, but would work well to keep Zahara warm while walking through the winter wonderland she is set in. The flower in her hair pulls the outfit together without hiding my model, and the sharp triangular edges remind me of a snowflake or icicles.

A difficult challenge when dressing a model in winter gear is it's very easy to cover the model too much. Especially with Zahara's set dark tones, I ran into the problem of a white background, white outfit, and a small amount of dark tone skin and hair peaking out in the middle. Although usually one would be wearing sleeves, gloves, and a hat; I decided to have her arms and head exposed to the winter air so that I could create a more balanced piece.

I hope my representation of winter pleases the judges, this has been a fun ride and I can't believe we're approaching the end! All the remaining designers are so talented and I do not envy the judges while they try to make a decision on the top three. Good luck everyone!

Just want to say I know there were a lot of issues with the site for this challenge, and I just wanted to let you know that those difficulties were taken into consideration. :)

6. khionna (Veronica)
Positive: This was a cute spring showers look. The bright pastel colors evoke spring, Veronica is soft and sweet. Good pose as well.
Negative: This look was very familiar, we've seen similar ones and even some of the items earlier on in the contest, and as part of that it borders on being just too cute. Also while backgrounds aren't required, this challenge would have really benefited from one, even if it was just a simple rain puddle or something more atmospheric. Could have even had some of the spring flowers that come after a shower. Should have been something, you know?

10. Tink_Bel (Zahara)
Positive: The background is just amazing, and Zahara looks amazing in white like this. It evokes Snow Queen in an elegant and subtle way.
Negative: This is very simple, and just a little underwhelming. There are also a lot of different styles of items in terms of how they are detailed and designed which leaves some aspects of the look seeming cheaper than others. Would have been nice to see some sparkle somewhere as well.

11. METTAT0N (Brooke)
Positive: It is great to see Brooke in a very different look and color scheme, and it is kind of interesting to see the use of the more gloomy side of Autumn played upon. Also a great silhouette.
Negative: With the dark dark background and the dark dark outfit, some details get lost, especially with the rain layering over top of the outfit as well. It's another look that also is a little simple when things are boiled down.

15. egggoat (Xoco)
Positive: You've layered individual items together amazingly well, made the outfit look like a set being used. This is beautiful, and these colors are rich on Xoco. Dynamic pose that helps sell the image and time as well. Another great background choice as well.
Negative: The scarf might have been a bit stiff, but it's a minor nitpick. One of the judges would have liked to see brighter and more typical summer colors, but the others liked the cooler take.

Each finalist will create their own theme and build 5 outfits that represent
their brand. The theme can be anything, but the outfits themselves must
tie into each other in some way.

Each finalist will be delegated 4 models that have been eliminated plus
their own cycle model to make up the 5 models they will use for their
clothing line. Each model must be used and the outfits should reflect
what looks good with the base traits on each of the models.

All 5 designs must be in the same post and include: Name of clothing line,
name of designer, name of cycle model, names of other models and
a description explaining your line and how each outfit ties into it.

Each of the 5 outfits will be judged individually on how well they look,
how creative they are and how well they fit into your chosen clothing line.
Your description will be judged as a whole rather than for the few
sentences you dedicate for each design.

In your description, please include the following:
► Introduce us by describing your journey through the cycle ◄
► Explain your muses and the theme you chose ◄
► Create a few sentences towards each outfit ◄
detailing how it fits the theme
► End with a few words to finish your Catwalk Show ◄

Feminine Flora

Designer: Tink_Bel

Cycle Model: Zahara
Other Models: Iona, Kate, Keran, Daphne

Description: It took me awhile to decide on a final theme for this challenge. I knew I wanted to do a theme that I was comfortable with, is aesthetically pleasing, and could vary in regards to color scheme and items to fit each model. Finally, I decided on floral. I love the floral items on Gaia and the versatility this theme entails. All models flow together without repeated items or colors schemes.

For Daphne I used the Rosette color scheme. The peacock green and cream tones work well with her presets. I wanted her to have a more simple look with a natural flow, caught mid-stride.

I used a personal favorite, Decay, for Zahara's color scheme. Her look is a bit more cluttered and circular, creating an illusion of dancing and twirling.

I used the largest and boldest items with Kate, which work well with her large hair. She's posed comfortable on her giant flower and looks ready for a photo. I used the Cerise color scheme with her, which matched perfectly with her presets.

I decided on the Confectionary color scheme for Iona. She's my lightest colored model, the pastels mix with her presets to create a very soft look. The mixture of her leg mod with roses makers her look like shes twirling or skipping.

Finally, I used the Miserable color scheme for Keran. I wanted her to look like she was strolling through a floral backdrop. One arm is reaching out to touch the flowers hanging around her, while the other covers her mouth coyly.

I had a lot of fun creating this set, I feel like I could use any of them personally. Each have their own unique qualities while flowing together beautifully. I'm sad this cycle is ending, I had such a great time and was thoroughly impressed with all participants! This could have been anyone's competition, I feel so lucky to have made it into the top 3! Good luck to all finalists and thank you to all the judges for creating such a great cycle.

"Celestial Beauties"

Designer: khionna
Main Model: Veronica
Other Models: Trinity, Dita, Madison, Brooke

Description:
Throughout my journey these past few months, I've learned a few things about myself, my style and avatar creation. I've laughed, I've struggled, and I've pushed myself to break out of my comfort zone in order to present the best of myself in avatar form.

Everything has been leading up to this. I toyed around with a couple ideas, but the celestial theme never left my mind so I had to run with it. With that in mind, today I present to you my grand finale. I give you my "Celestial Beauties" line.

I equipped each model with a halo of sorts representing their namesake in some way. Each model has a unique design while also showing a cohesive theme.

First I present to you Trinity as the star. I wanted to keep her colors light to compliment her fair complexion. Pulling color influences from the stars she is adorned in white and yellow. With layers of flowing fabric she looks elegant and put together without looking overly formal.

Next I give you Brooke as the black hole. While a black hole is not something that shines bright and grabs your attention, Brooke still stands out donned in a black dress with white accents. The black colors do well to compliment her hair while making her eyes pop. Brooke is dressed a little more elegantly as I wanted to show her softer side a bit rather than representing the black hole as cold and dark.

Now I present to you the center of my collection, Veronica as the sun; shining and golden. She is a stunner set out to catch your eye. Donned in ivory and gold, she is an attention grabber. I wanted Veronica to stand out from the others slightly and direct your eye to her as she is the 'main attraction' of my line. The solar halo and formal shimmery golden gown do just that.

For our next design, I present you with Madison as the moon. While she does not stand out as much as Veronica, she is still a stunner. This is because I wanted to represent her as Veronica's counterpart. The moon is bright and glowing in all of it's natural beauty. Adorned in ivory and gray Madison looks fabulous in this formal open front gown.

Lastly, but definitely not least, I give you Dita as the galaxy. While the galaxy is technically the largest entity represented, I did not want her to outshine Veronica in design. With that in mind I dressed her in a gorgeous blue and starry pattern with golden accents lending to the colors of the sun and stars. Her gown flows so elegantly giving her a soft, gentle feel.

With that, I conclude my show. Thank you so much for taking the time to check out the Celestial Beauties line and I hope that you enjoy what you have seen. Thank you so much for this opportunity and for any future opportunities ahead. If it wasn't for all of you I would have never been here doing what I'm doing today.

The Jetsetters
Designer: egggoat
Head Model: Xoco
Other Models: Ebony, Noelle, Mia, Copper

I cant believe this is almost over! It has been really fun and something to look forward to over the last few months.
I feel like I have become a stronger designer because of this competition.
I tried to push myself out of my comfort zone and to take risks. Some risks were bigger than others and some paid off while others came back to bite me in the end.
Overall, I learned something from each challenge and from all the other designers.

.

The hardest part of this challenge was choosing a theme. I went through several but kept coming back to travel.
It has been on my mind a lot recently as I will be traveling for three weeks soon and will be in airports a lot. Airports are a great place for inspiration since there are so many people from all over the world, but you don't know anything about them. So, that is where this idea came from. I chose to have a fashion show that puts the viewer in a people watching position. You get to see how each model is dressed but the best part is that you finally get to find out where they are going!

For each model, I wanted to keep one thing in mind; comfort.
No one wants to travel long distances in uncomfortable clothes.
I also gave them each a purse since they are imperative to keeping everything within easy reach, like passports, tickets, and snacks.

.

To start off the collection, we have Ms. Ebony! She is ready to strut her stuff on the streets of Spain with her friends. The bright yellow and orange will help her blend in with the colorful architecture and keep her cool in the heat of the day. The faux-fur coat is the perfect thing to snuggle into when the sun dips and the temperatures drop.

Next up is Noelle, who is on her way to Harvard to study Biomedical Engineering! She is wearing muted colors so as to not startle those old stuffy professors but is still keeping true to herself with a fun polka dot skirt and denim vest; which can be taken off for a more polished look.

Please welcome Xoco to the stage! She is rocking a bold look for a weekend in Chicago with her significant other. The peacoat and hat with help keep her warm and safe from those strong winds coming in off of Lake Michigan, but once she is inside, watching an improv show or eating a deep dish pizza, she is ready to attract attention with a bright red mini skirt and striped shirt.

Next we have Mia, who is on her way to Japan to begin her career as an Anime artist! She is dressed in her favorite colors and is ready to take Tokyo by storm. The purple jeans help emphasize her long legs and the flowing chiffon robe waves in the gentlest breeze, just like her long hair. She almost looks like an Anime character herself!

Finally, we have Copper who is flying to London with her band, Dear Janice, to record their third album at Black Cat Records. She is wearing her signature leather jacket that she has worn in every album cover and the old jeans she recently dip dyed to give them new life. We can only agree with what rolling stone recently printed "Copper (...) is bold, catchy and arresting" and we don't just mean her music!

Thank you for checking out The Jetsetters!
I hope you liked it and I want to thank everyone who has shown support for us the last few months. It has been a blast and I look forward to watching the new season.
