Judges, I am going to plead my case that one of you changes your vote before
Wolf makes the final call.

It's no secret that I've been a fan of Tink's submissions since PC 1 and was
devastated when she'd been eliminated without my vote. However, I'm not
pleading my case on her behalf. I'm doing it for the integrity of this contest.

If you don't like her design, that's one thing that I can't argue with. You're all
entitled to your own tastes and I respect that. However, the reasons for not
wanting her 3rd win are rubbing me the wrong way.

It's annoying when it seems like someone is sweeping the competition
(coughs*Dante*coughs*4 wins*coughs*). However, in a world where no good
deed goes unpunished, it is especially important to remember this:

If the only reason she's not deserving of a win is because she's had 2 others,
that's a poor excuse. It's clear by her entries that she works hard on them. A
hell of a lot harder than some others, so what is wrong with recognizing that
and rewarding it? If anything, it should be a wake-up call to the others to get
their s**t together and get their asses in gear.

And then saying that she's copying a design, I personally feel is a far stretch to
say the least. Her submission was exactly her style. It was dark and edgy, like
many of her designs are. Playing Devil's advocate here, who's to say Ren
wasn't copying Tink's signature style? Look back at every challenge issued
and you will see that Ren repeatedly submits cute and pretty designs. This is
legit the ONLY time she had ever submitted something so edgy. She could
have been jealous of Tink's flawless reviews and decided to copy her.

And saying that Ren is copying Tink sounds just as dumb as the reverse.

I'm not trying to pick on either of you. I just don't want to be bringing people
down because they worked so hard to get to the top and I don't want us to be
stretching for excuses to call out plagiarism. I'm certain that you will come
across a real plagiarizer soon enough because this contest can attract them
sometimes. When you see it for real, you'll know it and you'll be ********
furious. And it will be a big difference between a cheat and someone who
used the same arm mod and a similar style wing.

Ahh, I'm sorry! I got eager with the post and getting the chance to reply while at work. xD

I have to say, even though it gets tough when there's so much debate among the judges, I did really love there getting to be a debate. There's a reason there are so many judges and voices going on, and I prefer debate over blind agreement.

I did send egg a tip of 2500 platinum.

Challenge Seven

Suicide – Daphne – 7
Anyone else think Spider Gwen at first glance? Or rather a Deadpool/Spider Gwen crossover? I love seeing Daphne look more threatening since she always looks so pretty with her features. Blocking most of her flowing hair and adding the dark, comic-like makeup really does make her look different. Love the pose and the weapon feels absolutely necessary for this outfit. The biggest issue I have with the image is that it looks like she has double eyebrows to me. It is odd looking. There also isn’t much going on with the outfit. It’s mostly the pose and makeup.

Kiwi – Brooke – 7
The haze sets a nice tone but I’m kinda confused by the background. It looks like it has icicles on the top left, a fire burning in the top right, and a reddish flooring of some sort. Plus then the window or door frame. It comes off as incoherent. The shade of blue and gold is great on Brooke and I really love the outfit. The shape of the skirt, the headpiece, the armor and boots are all lovely. Upper nitpicky so I didn’t dock for it, but the dagger comes off as a stunted sword (and not a useful short sword even). But I know that to be a limitation with Gaia and Kiwi did address struggling with the weapon and how it clipped Brooke’s hair. The weapon does match thematically and color wise though.

Khionna – Veronica – 8.5
Love the outfit an makeup. The strappy boots, the fathers in the hair, the sash top and chiseled abs – awesome choices. The background works well and the dagger(s?) make sense. Does she have a dagger in the hand near her face too? There is a little white line that makes me think so but it gets lost near her chin so I could be seeing the background maybe? Major points for a unique vision and creativity though.

METATT0N – Ebony – 5
The most underwhelming design this round I think. The top is nice and the gloves and swords match well. The skirt and belt tassel come off as predictable and lazy. Nothing about this outfit feels fresh to a Japanese inspired design or fresh for Ebony. And where I am normally totally ok with an accent color not being seen in the outfit again, this is one of the few times I wish we did have that purple tie into the design or background in another spot. As is, this is someone I’d a** on the bridge nodding a hello to and would forget a second later.

Egggoat – Xoco - 8.5
I thought the laser bot and Xoco’s laser eye patch were the weapons. I didn’t notice the bat at first and even then it didn’t register that that was the weapon until I read the description. I was pretty bummed, I loved the idea of these lasers and it really fir the futuristic punk vibe. Oh well. I love the bandana and it is a close enough red to the other shade that it works for me. The crouch and her expression if do not f*** with me are great. The smoke is very atmospheric and I love how this outfit is deceptively simplistic. The elements of the high-tops, the bandana, the hoodie are all very street chic as well as elements of black culture. Egggoat clearly knew what to do with Xoco and the only miss for me is the face markings – I would have done with a different marking of sort as this one looks generic as opposed to a marking that had meaning behind it.

Tink – Zahara – 7
I adore the thirsty color scheme and it looks great on Zahara. Seriously one of my fav on Gaia. But for me the scheme looks way too “I’m in a photo shoot trying to look amazing” rather than I am a warrior chick with a weapon – you better back the f*** off. The background was right on, but the dragon gun looks like a fun toy and she does not look dirty enough for this scene .I think part of the problem is the vibrancy of the colors – why would she be trying to stand out? Also, every part of her outfit is of the same color scheme – it looks to matchy matchy to me. Matchy matchy comes off as lazy (to me at least) even when a ton of thought was put into the outfit because it doesn’t look like the designer was trying to innovate and be creative and push the fashion boundaries.

Hello again! So in the interest of keeping things moving, we'll post the next challenge tomorrow. If Dante and Goddess can do their judgement today, fantastic, or if they need just one more day to do that then we'll post results Wednesday.

Ren is obviously out. And based on the numbers currently, it looks like Egg is the winner.
