I wasn't really thrilled with getting Rae for a model. She's towards the bottom on my model ranking list just because I find her paleness (in skintone, hair, and eye colour) hard to work with. I knew as soon as I was assigned Neptune that I would be working with blues, and I was worried about being able to find a shade that wouldn't completely wash her out.
Neptune is a fascinating planet though. It's characterized by its vivid blue colour and its extreme weather conditions. Its best known feature is probably the Great Dark Spot. The name comes from the Roman god of the sea. Everything about Neptune suggests a moody, temperamental nature. It's associated with storms and the ocean. It's an ice giant, though the planet's temperature is actually hot. Superionic water crystallizes beneath the mantle and diamond crystals fall like rain.
I wanted to do a mermaid tail immediately because of the association with the god Neptune. A veil helped to minimize the clashing effect of Rae's pale hair against the rest of the outfit and the background. The outfit is sparkly, a mixture of stars and space and the aforementioned crystals that form on the planet. There are additional crystals clustered behind her, forming a vague impression of wings.
This outfit has less of a silhouette than I would usually like, but I feel that the effect is actually fitting for this challenge. Neptune's storm-ravaged atmosphere is just as indistinct and nebulous to our perception. I also was in love with both the tail and the veil, so I chose to work with them instead of replacing one or the other. The scheme I chose, First Wishes, doesn't actually have that many items, so I had to compromise on a few elements.

Planetary Princess Designer: elphiethesane Model: April
I was pretty excited, right off, to have gotten Jupiter... It’s not the planet I would have liked getting the best, but it’s up there, since the I find the whole “named after the king of the gods” part pretty inspiring. I immediately pictured a regal, stately queen... And then I noticed the whole part about switching models.
I thought I was going to have to throw out the royalty angle entirely. Regal might suit Ophelia, but not so much with April. She too cute, at least to me. But when I attempted to do something else (namely trying a Sailor Moon inspired magical girl look), it never seemed grand enough for this challenge. Then I thought... Well, maybe she’s not a queen, but she could be a princess.
So that became my goal for, to make her look like a cute, fairytale sort of princess. It’s actually a very good fit for Jupiter, when I thought about it. Of course there’s the royalty angle, but there’s also the voluminous skirts of the traditional princess ballgown, which is pretty appropriate for the largest planet in the solar system. And as I played around with creating her gown, I noticed how the ribbons on this overskirt looked like they were being blown about by a breeze. Between them and the movement of her hair, I think it makes her look like a wind is swirling around her, perfect for such a stormy planet.
I also decided to play off the Eastern association between Jupiter and the element of wood/plants and use a bit of a flower motif. Partially this was just because I could get better results than relying on the Western association with storms/lightning, but also because it suited the fairytale princess vibe I was going for. So flowers with her tiara, and a swirl of petals around her, emphasizing that “surrounded by a breeze” effect a little more.
I didn’t want to completely ignore the association with lightning, however, hence the choice in background. The frame was a bit more arbitrary: the background alone was overwhelming her a little, and this one happened to match the colors nicely and look good. Still, I think it’s swirls suit the wind I imagine around her, while still being elegant enough for a princess.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with the result. It took me awhile before I got every detail right so it looked like one piece, but the result looks pretty good to me. I do wish I had managed to work in oranges and reds, or even green (more of that wood association!), but my attempts looked pretty atrocious to be honest. Obviously I’d much rather put out something that’s not the exact same colors as the planet itself but actually looks good!

Judges were pretty mixed this week. Some judges loved looks that others didn't really care for, and some opinions were pretty unanimous. Going to try to represent everyone's thoughts with this feedback, though it may seem contradictory at times.
Darkerdemons (Uma) This was a strong look that earned you the win this week. The black was a little bit heavy and we all would have rather seen other colors to break it up a bit and evoke the planet just that touch better. Judges also enjoyed that this said Venus to us clearly.
Pianette (Isabelle) The first look to really bring disagreement among the judges was this one. The background layering was greatly enjoyed. There was also agreement that this wasn’t the strongest description. There are also a lot of colors that show up once and nowhere else, which was a problem for all of the judges. Be sure to pay attention to that in the future. Also keep an eye on the pixel texture, make sure things match.
Sana Minatozaki (Jiang Li) The judges are done with the spoilers, and bolding, and over all formatting of your descriptions. They’ve become annoying and that is something you never want to make the judges, so stop it. Please. As for your look itself, it wasn’t the worst of the week, but it was boring. It’s all one note, and says more Saturn than Mars. You are capable of more. Even with computer issues, you were given an extension and I wish you’d used it to finesse this look. Another color to compliment it and break it up would have been so much better.
elphiethesane (April) This is a good look. The background was a fantastic choice. Royalty, Jupiter, it goes together. But this doesn’t feel nearly grand enough for Jupiter. It is an absolutely gorgeous princess look, but that wasn’t necessarily the challenge.
sufjan stebens (Rae) I really liked the tail, but the other judges emphatically did not. It does create some bulk to the look though. This is also a very covered up look, we’d have rather seen Rae’s paleness embraced and not hidden so much. There’s a lot of very good layering, and this said Neptune. Maybe adding in a different blue to break things up a little and add some depth might have pushed you into a winning position.
Dangerous Tinfoil Shoes (Ophelia) No entry.
RENstrawberry (Abby) The deer was well meaning, but it just looks like it is sniffing her hair. This screams Earth and is a gorgeous avatar that secured you in the top looks, but it was just lacking a spark to make it a touch more celestial. We admire how much work was put into this look too, we can see how many different items and layering are involved. It all matches as well. Very good job.
Haji Demon (Robin) As nicely as can be said, you’re lucky Tinfoil didn’t enter anything or else you’d have been going home this week. The other versions of the look you posted in the forum were better. So much better. There are so many different pixel styles, colors, and movements happening. The background worked well. And there was originality. A lot of good thoughts, but it just didn’t work.
The Dread Wolf (Bryce) I know that Bryce’s hair is difficult, especially for this planet, but we wish it had either been embraced or hidden better. The look says Uranus, it was balanced and filled the space but it feels a little empty still. Having a different shade of blue in there would have added depth to it, broken up the kind of heavy bottom, and made it a stronger look.

The Cold Shoulder Designer: RENstrawberry Model: Rae Description:
I didn’t expect Rae to turn out as an icy super hero, but she just looked so good with blue eyes. This was definitely one of the designs that made itself rather than having a solid idea and trying to work around it.
In regards to this week’s challenge, I started out the outfit by looking at all or Rae’s options for her face which came in a lot of recolors! I fell love with one pair which led me to start searching for the sinful color scheme. However, looking for for some sinful stuff led to my discovery of eyes that were actually layerable on Rae’s gorgeous mug! I tried searching for other recolors of the eye item, but for some reason it only seemed to be layerable with the original item I found. Gaia is weird. These eyes were perfect to achieve the superhero vibe, rather than the super villain appearance she kind of had with her previous eyes!! oopsie
Regardless, I loved the blue, so I went back to Rae’s face mod, and chose one with blue lips! I definitely took advantage of being able to work with both her face and eyes this week.
Going forward, I knew I fell in love with Rae sporting the pale blue color, so I started her outfit out by looking at a lot of blue clothing. Eventually, I realized to maximize Rae’s beauty I had to keep the blue to a minimum. After taking off all of her blue clothing I was left with the blue moon on her forehead and the “icicle” horns.
Next up, after realizing too much blue was not working, I decided to stick to ivory colored clothing because it was similar to Rae’s fair skin and light hair. With this much pale color, I figured it would really allow the blue to stand out. While searching for her clothes and body mods I knew I wanted a super (haha) dynamic pose that superheroes always pose in. I was excited to find the arms and these legs which went flawlessly with my one desire for this challenge, lol.
I was sad to see I couldn’t layer anything on top of Rae’s legs. I wanted to cover her up more because I hate how often female superheroes are sexualized just to sell : P I didn’t get my wish here, but I like to think it was Rae’s way of saying I can’t get cold~
Lastly, to finish off the look, I added in the moon made from ice in the background as well as some little snowflakes. Finding a moon made from ice was awesome, because it matched the one on her forehead and tied in the rest of the blues and prevented the look from being excessively pale. I image the moon is Rae’s insignia (or superhero symbol/logo idk what its officially called). As a finishing touch I chose to add a blush item in a blue shade to make Rae just a little bit icier and to sell the idea she is cold to the touch!
Designer: The Dread Wolf Model: Isabelle Description:
Being able to choose which eyes to give Isabelle was exciting, but also a bit of a bummer initially. I really like her original eyes, so it was a challenge to find some alternative eyes for her. Additionally, I am not too keen on creating superheroes. These difficulties provided hurdles for me in this challenge.
I knew that I really wanted to use heterochromia eyes. It is a unique eye choice, but I had few options. Ultimately, I settled on a pair of eyes that were gold and silver. This ties into her superhero persona! In her normal civilian life, Isabelle has grey eyes. However, when she uses her powers, one of her eyes glitters gold! Only one of her eyes does this, because half of her body belongs to a 5000 year old demon. The power that Isabelle is able to use comes from the demon, who is pictured behind her. Isabelle has a pretty good handle on this power, which includes telekinesis, flight, & the use of dark magic. However, it is being lended to her by her demon. Through good deeds, Isabelle hopes to gain the strength over her dark possessor.
The first item I added to this look was the cape! It made Isabelle have a really nice arm pose & I loved the look of the cape. From there I added the bodice, which I thought provided a nice contrast to the overall look. She has a belt, which has a few mini-pockets that hide tiny gadgets. A couple of the last items I added were the red infinity symbol on her head & the red halo-ish item. Her head was pretty bare, aside from the shadowy demon behind her. So, I added the red magical symbols to emphasize how her powers tend to manifest. At this moment, she is using her telekinesis power.~
Overall, this was a rather fun build. I actually really enjoyed thinking up a superhero persona for Isabelle. I was stuck on what kind of power I wanted Isabelle to express, but using her inner darkness, the demon, to do good in the world seemed somewhat poetic. I am really happy to be able to have her express heterochromia eyes in the process.~

A Hero Just Like You Justice never sleeps, it’s never lazy And again a hero will be rising To reclaim this rotten world from all its sin
Whooooo I am uh... not big in superheroes. I know, I know, great opening line on superhero week lol I think when it comes down to it, I'm not big on superheroes ... with powers... like........ most of them uh. There is something about vigilante superheroes that I'm drawn to though. Some specific charm that you don't get from fire slingers or storm bringers. Someone with little to no powers that brings the law into their own hands. I like them. c: So the obvious choice was to make one : D
So here's Chipped Convictions, a masked heroine who fights evil by moonlight with her own unique fighting style and a variety of homemade weaponry.* *Most of which IS non-lethal, I mean it's better that the law gets em right?
I hadddddd quite a bit of trouble this week. This was... not my first design. Nor my last actually, I ended up with two superhero superheroes and two vigilante superheroes. Most all of them have different eyes lol I actually really like the amnesiac eyes, they're good size, fit well, good eyes. Losing them wasn't a big problem though, it was more "what do I replace these with??" At first I was very focused on keeping them the same color, but uh, gaia was apparently not a fan of that eye color during the winterstorm era. So I had settled on a general blue for the longest time and these carried over into the start of each build, to mess with later. THESE eyes came in after the arm mod and fairly early into the build. I was browsing user tags when I stumbled across probably the single greatest use of an SL ever. Corvus has magnificent eyes, but they're hooked on that mouth that's like... not the greatest in all situations ever. To see them separated out like this??? Mmm bless. I might've ended up losing the blue in these eyes but I got the sass that no other eye could give me.
Rewinding a smidge. Frit was an NPC introduced and effectively left in a rig back in 2013. Weird info. Frit was ALSO an NPC introduced and effectively left in a rig back in 2013 with a FANTASTIC item. I can't remember how I ran across this but I bookmarked it in my brain, knowing I wanted to make something with those arms. And here we are.
Overall I wanted the outfit to have that kind of full body suit feel which I feel I accomplished. It seemed odd to leave a hero maskless but the phrasing of the challenge seemed to discourage those on the face. Plopping one on her head not only made me happy but also tied everything up to the top of the outfit and made it seem overall more cohesive. Similarly, the addition of a utility belt was very important to the vibe I wanted to convey. With all of the smaller details going on I decided against a full background, just so it could stand on its own. At the same time, I felt it needed something for grounding. I cycled through a couple of different options but in the end decided I liked this explosion the best since it ultimately linked back to the arms.

Designer: Darkerdemons Model: April Process: See Spoiler
Action avatars are one of my favourite themes, so I was very excited to find out challenge #8 is superhero themed. I had so many different ideas I was convinced April was actually Mystique (shape-shifting mutant from the X-men series). Even though I couldn’t request The Clot Thickens as a mentor this round I kept trying to think what advice would be given if I had a mentor. There were a lot of really cool avatars that resulted from my brainstorm avatar spree, but by guessing at mentor feedback all the ideas were passed over. The base for the current outfit is actually bits and pieces of several original ideas: the suit from an outfit deemed too ‘magical girl’, the energy bubble from an outfit that was just ‘normal exercise clothes’, and the general leg position from a three-item body mod avatar that was nearly impossible to add layers to.
The armmod, bubble, and legs were the key items for the avatar. Every once in a while I switched them out, but eventually returned to the same combination. The three items gave the avatar a very strong and powerful feeling - perfect for a superhero. Most items I tried on after establishing the base made the avatar a bit bulky; however, many superhero outfits are smooth and streamlined. I opted to try a more one-piece suit-like look. The pink bodysuit helped start this look, but it wasn’t until I found an item that added a bit of abs and bust to the avatar in addition to black lines that the outfit really started to look like a typical superhero outfit. Afterward it was a matter of adding items with a bit of gold to distribute the colour throughout the outfit.
My favourite superhero outfits are black... black... and black. Desperately wanted to add some bright colours to the outfit. The bodysuit and bubble were originally purple. Eventually it became clear the purple of the suit was too limiting. The pink suit offered more complimenting items to choose from. The pink bubble just made everything blend together too much though. When I tried out all the other recolors, yellow stood out for it’s brightness. The bubble seemed to become brighter when I combined it with the grey background.
Originally I hoped to assign glowing eyes like some superheroes have when they use their powers. Unfortunately, all the items I tried on made April appear either creepy or like a villain. Eventually I decided to use pink to help balance the colours.
Introducing April, AKA Voltage, the superhero who can generate brilliant electrical spheres.
Item Notes: Lavish's Longing Gaze (the eyes) adds a slight rosy tinge to the cheeks, just like the assigned eyes for Abby, Bryce, and Stella. No other items with makeup were used. White streak in ponytail, near the Energy Bubble, is part of the Energy Bubble. The stray spark on the leg mod is from the background with sparkles. Skin is Body Type B and arms are Skintone B.

punch crime in the gut
they call her "the precinct pugilist." they call her "fisticops." they call her "officer ouch." she patrols at night and keeps citizens safe with nothing but her bare hands. criminals beware: the police in this city just got a whole lot punchier.
---
I originally had a completely different avatar all ready to go. All I had left to do was post it... and then I realized it was way to similar to darkerdemons's entry. They even had the same legs. My version had telekinesis, but... I decided to go back and start over again with a brand new concept.
To be honest, I'd gone with the telekinesis idea first because I thought it would be the easiest power to convey. That meant that whatever my second choice was, it was going to be much harder. Super strength is one of my favourite powers (I love superman!!) so I decided, let's do it! And I put "muscles" into the avatar builder search.
That didn't exactly give me the results I wanted. So I tried "muscular," and "tough," and "strong, and "punch." EVENTUALLY I hit the jackpot with "abs" and found Incinerating Heels, which I then built the rest of the outfit around. I went with the Alleycat recolour because I think that kind of bright, silly outfit is exactly the kind of thing you'd find in an old comic book. That's the same reason I went with sexy instead of practical for the top. This superhero was designed with her target audience in mind -- 14 year old boys. (I did, however, reinforce the ridiculous bikini top with a strappy harness that will not only provide a little support, but also adds some much-needed black to the avatar's torso).
The hat not only balanced out the purple in the outfit, but also fueled the gimmick behind the hero. Before she was just a backstreet brawling vigilante. Now she's a backstreet brawling vigilante who's impersonating a cop.
The outfit was too plain without a background. I wanted her on a rooftop at first, but having colours in the background kept clashing with the pink and purple. I chose the grey instead because it provides a nice contrast and really makes her pop. I considered using the background cutter from "Good Luck Artist-kun" to emphasize the comic book look of the avatar, but in the end I decided it looked better without.
The speech bubble and the eyes were chosen to convey this superhero's attitude. She's cocky and confident. She's here to take out the trash. And she's not afraid to get her hands dirty.
Incinerating Heels has a really lovely sitting pose that I would have liked to use, but the layering just didn't work out.
I looked at the theme and first thing I thought of was capes! I dont care what Edna Mode says, capes are quite important part of heroes for me and same goes for masks. Balancing that with her hair, I thought ok, she got to stand up in wind, probably on rooftops in heroic pose. I made that and it didnt turn out that well, a trend that kept on repeating. Finally I settled on making it an action packed thing. Something that looks powerful, she needs to seem strong, so it took a while and few revisions but I found right body mods and clothing to do that for me, they blend in really well, but the original suit I chose, the top and leg mods all blend in to make it look like its one suit and yet retain the dynamic nature and I am quite pleased with that.
For background, instead of showing her in field of action, like city, rooftops or explosions, I went for Powerpuff girls strategy of simple background and then painted it with all the stuff that brings in energy. I actually went for all those first and then came up with her superpower (and hence her name) that unified all those things.
As long as I was sticking with traditional route of capes, I found that masks were equally important and this one proved to be a challenge. I went through some efforts to find a face that matches the eyes and lips with the costume (thankfully I had tons of options) and I didnt want the mask to hide that. So I found a half mask that covers the part of her face that is already mostly covered by her hair. Practical enough to hide her identity without covering too much of her face.
Next part is regarding her powers and if its not necessary to the judging, you can just skip it-
Her name clues in to her powers, she is a scientist. She is a bit overpowered, she can manipulate anything as long as she understands how it works. Like she knows how lightning works and can direct the electrons at her will, but she cant create lightning out of nowhere or try to do something beyond her knowledge. She could go Antman route and decrease distance between her atoms, but she cant go too small or she risks fusing the nucleus together and turn herself into nuclear bomb. But other than that, its quite a handy power, manipulate air to breathe inside water, manipulate light to turn invisible, gravity to fly, even minor inter-dimensional feats! Only limit is her imagination and knowledge. She would much rather spend her time studying the world than saving it, but in the end she cares about the world and thats what truly makes her a hero

Spectre Designer: elphiethesane Model: Ophelia
Well, this challenge was right up my alley! I love superheroes, and I really love character and costume design, so the idea of designing a unique superhero look was terribly exciting. I had so many ideas I played with... Initially I thought I’d try for a very traditional, classic hero style, but I struggled to get it to not look awkward. I really wanted some sort of display of powers, as I really wanted the look to scream “superhero” as soon as you saw it, but I struggled to find something that worked on her and was available in colors I could work with. Between that and struggling to find versions of the classic elements that looked right and matched (especially masks! It was so hard to find ones that had a classic shape and didn’t obscure the eyes at all), I eventually gave up on that option. I then tried a more “mystic” feel, since most of the powers I was playing with had a magical feel, but the design always felt disjointed and I was never quite sold on it.
Eventually, though, as I was wondering what to do, I thought maybe I should go for a bit more of an unusual take. One of the things I looked at, while looking for inspiration, was a list of some of the worst, over edgy superhero costumes of the 90s. Of course, I initially didn’t think a list of worst costumes would be a viable source of inspiration, but... Why not? Don’t be afraid to go bold, right?
Of course, I didn’t really want to go full 90s, despite the inspiration. I didn’t want her to look ugly, or like some kind of parody of a superhero after all. Plus I’m not sure you could actually fit that many pouches and unnecessary detail on her! But the idea was an excellent jumping off point. I imagined a character who was created as one of those over edgy 90s heroes, who managed to retain popularity enough to get a slightly toned down (but still retaining iconic aspects) redesign later. So I set off looking for pieces that could work, and when I stumbled across that jacket I was sold. Jackets were listed on an “unacceptable 90s superhero trends” list I found, after all (a point I throughly disagree with, too... I think they can look really cool when done well!), and had the added bonus of glowing hands for a display of power. It was ideal for the idea I was going for.
After that, it mostly just fell into place. I’d already decided on glowing eyes in my previous attempts (because I love the idea of eyes glowing while using powers, especially magic based ones), I used those legs because the fishnets seemed like a suitably edgy addition, and I constructed the outfit under the coat to look like a classic leotard to give her a bit more of a superhero vibe. The color scheme was, admittedly, semi arbitrary... I wanted to avoid a more stereotypical color scheme, like red and black, and the purple was the easiest to work with. It feels like a good choice for a superhero, though, giving her a simple, bold color scheme.
Finally, I added the background. I added the swirl around her first, wanting something that looked like a display of power, as well as trying to keep her from looking too top heavy (one of the downsides to using those legs). Taking some inspiration for the name of the color scheme, I started thinking of her as having ghostly or occult themed powers, so when I stumbled on those matching magic circles for the background I thought it was a perfect addition. The black backdrop was then added to fill in the rest of the space and make the glow on her hands a little more noticeable. I did toy with the idea of something with some sort of texture or pattern to it in place of the plain black, but ultimately decided to keep it simple to keep the focus on her.

gaia_bunnyChang'e: The Moon Goddessgaia_moon Designer: Sana Minatozaki Model: Abby Description: Before I get into my outfit, I just wanna say that I apologize for the excessive amounts of spoilers and formatting of my description. I thought I can sell my outfit better to the judges if I give drops of extra on my description, and it's obvious that I ain't selling it. I am gonna do just one spoiler, JUST ONE. But to shorten the description within the spoiler, I'm putting in more spoilers on some parts of the description, in which all isn't necessary to open, unless you want to. 'Cause I need tons of explaining to do on my outfit, and I don't wanna lengthen my submission, in which it might inconvenience you from scrolling. Also, no more extra formatting.
I based my outfit on a hero on Mobile Legends, who is my main hero in the game, and the cutest goddess you'll ever lay your very eyes on. In-game, she's underrated, but when played, she's strong as a machine gun:
There are many tales about Chang'e, including a well-known story that is given as the origin of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. In a very distant past, ten suns had risen together into the skies and scorched the earth, thus causing hardship for the people. The archer Yi shot down nine of them, leaving just one sun, and was given the elixir of immortality as a reward. He did not consume it straight away, but let Chang'e keep it with her, as he did not want to gain immortality without his beloved wife Chang'e. However, while Yi went out hunting, his apprentice Fengmeng broke into his house and tried to force Chang'e to give him the elixir; she refused and to prevent him from getting it, drank it. Chang'e then flew upward toward the heavens, choosing the Moon as residence, as she loved her husband and hoped to live nearby him. Yi discovered what had transpired and felt sad, so he displayed the fruits and cakes that Chang'e had liked, and gave sacrifices to her.
But in the game, her story is this:
Chang'e is the youngest disciple of the Great Dragon. From an early age, she exhibited amazing magical potential, quickly mastering the Great Dragon's greatest spell - The Scared Satellite. From then on, Chang'e earned the Great Dragons eternal love. However, Chang'e had a energetic and fun-loving personality that gave the Great Dragon quite a few headaches. Finally, he asked Zilong, his adopted son, to look after Chang'e. The Great Dragon was hopeful that Zilong's diligent and determined character could help guide Chang'e. Zilong came to love the vibrant and intelligent Chang'e. They often spent countless hours together, practicing magic and finding divine creatures to play with. Chang'e also loved spending time with her big brother, Zilong. Her favorite part of the day was at the end of the training, when Zilong would carry her on his back on their way home. During the second War of the Planes, Zilong assisted the wise rulers of the land, traveling between worlds. After he left, Chang'e returned to her naughty and childish ways. At one point, the Great Dragon was not sure if there would ever be another day of peace-That is, until Chang'e swallowed one of his scared pills by accident, thinking it was candy. The Great Dragon immediately cast Chang'e out of his sanctuary and ordered her to assist Zilong and make up for her mistake! Even then, the Great Dragon felt compelled to give Chang'e his precious Crescent Moon to protect her.
Concept-wise, you would think I'd go for a stereotype, goddess-like beauty mage. NOPE! My concept for Abby, is it a goddess? Yes. But goddess-like beauty? No. I went back to memory lane and did a cute look for my model, but still added in a filter, where in which my look is still cute, but has elegance and beauty to it.
For the outfit, I wasn't directly trying to copy Chang'e, but still has matching elements of Chang'e's outfit to mine. Those elements are mainly the colors, the cute leg pose, the long sleeves, and the most important elements, the moon. Without the moon, Abby wouldn't be a goddess of the moon, but only goddess-looking.
With the challenge where we can change our model's eyes. Since Chang'e in the picture has big red eyes, I still kept Abby's original eyes, only in dusk rose, which is similar-looking to Chang'e's eyes in the picture.
I always start off with finding a color scheme in every outfit. Chang'e's colors are: green, gold, white, black and orange. Then I found "spring", a color scheme consisting of: green, beige, brown. When I do this kind of outfits where I do a look based on a character, I usually match most of the color, and spring wasn't mostly matching with the colors of Chang'e in the game, but in this case, I kept it, since the colors of spring looked amazing on Abby, so I chose that as my colors.
For the elements, I started off with the legs, in which when I looked up "spring", I found this legmod that doesn't look the same as Chang'e's leg pose, but in-game, she has a skin called "Moonstruck", where in the image, her leg pose matches the one on Abby's, so I kept the legmod to match.
The long sleeves, though, it was hard to find, but I recall an item that had long sleeves that closely matches to Chang'e's. There were more long sleeves in that could've matched Chang'e's sleeves, but they weren't in the spring color scheme, so I stayed with the long sleeves with a timid arm pose to match not the sleeves that Chang'e has, but to match the concept that I was going for.
And for one of the most important element, the moon. At first, I went with the Mitenala moon (the one I have on atm) in catharsis color scheme. But as I kept looking for other elements for my outfit, I found this moon with a yellow glow and has textures to look like the moon, so I replaced the Mitenala moon to this more realistic-looking moon. However, the moon that Chang'e has in the picture has leaf-like patterns on the side, but I can't find a moon with those patterns, so I just went with the patternless yellow moon.
For the other most important element of the look, the rabbit, the Moon Rabbit is harder to find compared to the long sleeve. I actually typed in "Chang'e", and "moon rabbit" in hopes to find her rabbit, and I did, but the rabbit is actually an armmod, which is a problem since the long sleeve is also an armmod. So I typed in only "rabbit", and looked and looked and looked so many times, but I couldn't find a white rabbit with red eyes. At this point, I don't care if I find a red-eyed rabbit, as long as it's a white one, I don't care anymore. Then I found this beige rabbit with deer horns. You would think I won't use it, but I did, just because it's just as cute as the Moon Rabbit. The Moon Rabbit has no horns, but this is my take on The Moon Goddess, so I kept the horned beige rabbit.
For the dress, I found a sleeveless dress with flowing skirt that I initially thought would give movement to my submission, then it did. I tried it on Abby, and BOOM! It looked good! I would've gone for other dresses with flowing skirt, but Chang'e's dress in the picture was sleeveless, so I kept what I already put on Abby. You can't even see the flowing skirt since before the dress, I actually planned on making Abby's dress NOT one-piece, then I found a skirt that is absolutely no match to the one that Chang'e has on in the picture, but it didn't matter since you can't see the details of it very well. I just kept the skirt to cover Abby's underwear. After the skirt, there's the dress, in which I actually also kept to cover Abby's underwear, and like I mentioned, sleeveless.
And for the background, I remembered a star showers background that matches the one in the picture, so I looked for the background, tried it on, and blended in amazing with everything that's going on. But the sickening part of the background, was the clouds. The clouds isn't one with the star showers background, I accidentally found them while I was looking for other elements on my outfit, and when I found the clouds, I initially thought that I would only try it just for fun, but when I tried it on, it actually looks similar to the one in the picture, and I was shook af! I kept the clouds, 'cause it lewks sickening!
About the theme, with this idea that I already finished taking action, I thought to myself that "This doesn't say superhero at all! It's just a cosplay for a hero on a mobile game!". I'm pretty sure the judges would think the same, and your right. But it is a superHEROES theme. A superhero is a hero with superhuman powers, and Chang'e has superhuman powers, she can do magic! Storywise, she has her powers gifted to her by the Great Dragon, along with the Crescent Moon, so technically, she is a superhero. Chang'e is a moon goddess, so her main purpose is to protect, same as to a superhero's purpose in the world. Chang'e was gifted with magical powers in order for greatness, so she's a superhero just because of that reason.
I don't wanna toot my own horn, but I think I did good with my outfit looking similar to Chang'e, and I give myself a pat on the back for that, 'cause I deserve it, not because of how good I did, but is because that I finally sent in my submission within extended time, sent in on the extended deadline.

Darkerdemons (April) Used the same arm mod as Ren did, and the general silhouette is very similar as well. Pink is well matched and balanced but it isn't the strongest color for the look? All that said though, this is a good look that says superhero, and we liked that you had April using her powers in a bold and obvious way. The dark background was also a very well thought out choice.
Pianette (Jiang Li) You just nailed it this week, and made it look so easy. The colors you chose not only worked well to emphasize each other without clashing, but they were flattering on Jiang Li. The eye mod you chose was excellent and gave the character spunk. Strong pose, and a great way to convey superhero even without powers. Just beautiful.
Sana Minatozaki (Abby) Thank you for removing all the formatting in your description and for cutting back on the spoilers. Simply put this just doesn't fit the challenge. Having powers does not a superhero make. Harry Potter has powers, but is not a superhero. The moon goddess character you based this look on is a moon goddess. Not a superhero. And I appreciate that you were trying to be more creative, it just didn't work. This is a beautiful avatar, and you nailed what you were going for. It is an excellent interpretation of Abby as Chang'e. But it does not fit this challenge.
elphiethesane (Ophelia) Love a dark superhero. You set yourself with an extra challenge by the eyes you chose, but you used them wonderfully. We liked seeing Ophelia's powers and the sense of added power that came from the background chosen. This look is just missing a little something to take it that little bit farther, and it does get a little monotonous. Would have been nice to see some other color included to just break up the purple and darkness a bit.
sufjan stebens (Robin) The pixels clash at most places, and the colors border on garish. Clothes are odd. BUT this is absolutely a look straight out of a comic and I really loved it. I even love how this borders on ugly with the abs on everything else. But this absolutely fits the challenge and I love that a risk was taken.
RENstrawberry (Rae) Your description was late, and Rae is wearing make up. That isn't allowed, and these things hurt your score. We understand why the make up was chosen, but there are other ways to convey cold that don't go outside limitations of the competition. There needed to be some blue at the bottom of the look. This is a good look though, and we really like the pose and the use of powers. The blues look good against Rae. We really loved that you embraced Rae's pale skina nd made it part of her power. This is good.
Haji Demon (Uma) The background and cape read superhero, channeling Powerpuff Girls. But. This is just kind of a mess. There are so many ideas, and they just don't work all together. I like the idea of a mask on a superhero, but the half mask hidden under hair is just a little distracting. The full body suit you chose doesn't really sit Uma or the cape? It's just a lot in one spot and I think it was in desperate need of some editing.
The Dread Wolf (Isabelle) Heterochromia was a great eye choice to make, it started things off strong. A lot of thought was put into this, and that is great to see. This is pretty and well balanced but that is kind of where it ends. This isn't bad by any stretch, and in earlier challenges this might have even been a winning look. But we're far enough along that we expect more from everyone. Give us more dynamic poses. Work on giving more depth to the look, make her more than just pretty.

🌺 Let's Catch Some Waves!~ 🌺
Designer: The Dread Wolf Model: Isabelle Description:
My initial thoughts about this theme was dread. My recent review told me that Isabelle needed to be more than pretty. I was worried about how I could incorporate this review into a beach look. A bikini would not do.
While trying to create a look for Isabelle, surfer instantly popped into my head. I wanted to make her look like a professional surfer, so I browsed some google images for inspiration. I knew I wanted to avoid a bikini-like look, so I focused on gaining inspiration from body/wet suits. I wanted to also make sure that the look I created drew a lot of inspiration from the accessories that I added. I was inspired to make Isabelle look like she was posing for a sports magazine that was ready to run a story about her love for surfing.
I began by designing the wetsuit. At first, I wanted to give Isabelle a long wetsuit or even swimming shorts. However, based on the images I found, I decided on a sleeveless + legless wetsuit. This gave me the athletic + serious surfer vibe I wanted. Next, I wanted to give Isabella a dynamic pose. I wanted to emphasize that Isabelle goes to the beach to surf, so I needed a surfboard. I decided on a red surfboard, with the arm pose, because the red gave focus to Isabelle and the arm pose helped Isabelle's overall stance. The combination of the arm pose + leg pose gave me a nice pose that says: "Come surf with me!" Finally, a major obstacle I had was what to add to Isabelle's head. I knew she needed to have some red around her head. I decided to add a red hibiscus to her hair, as it reminds me Hawaii, which seems like a great place to go surfing.
Overall, I am rather pleased with this look. Trying to make a beach-inspired look was hard. I would have loved to put Isabelle in a bikini, but the idea of modelling Isabelle as a surfer was so tempting. I wanted to make Isabelle share her love for surfing to the world. In this way, I added a crowd and frame to the overall look to emphasize that Isabelle is on the cover of a sports magazine. I think that the message I was trying to convey came across nicely.

A Lazy Hazy Blue Sky Time The sun's been nice the past few days I sit around just to watch all the clouds
What could be better than a cruise? Days filled with fun, sun, and plenty of style! Watch out world, the S.S. Style is coming your way!
I knew what I wanted to use when I first saw the theme but actually executing it in a way I was happy with seemed to be a challenge. I also... wasn't sure where to put her when I was done dfghjk so that was largely where most of my questioning came in.
The accessories were easy grabs, I wanted to focus on yellow so I did. I always forget about the Tokki sunglasses until I don't and that's a real shame because they're really truly nice sunglasses. Lots of style with minimal... like face blockage? A lot of shades hide the eyes entirely and I don't like that :< I wanted the hat and earrings for a bit of a higher class look. She'll sit by the water all day but you might not catch her getting in. That kind of vibe.
Now the outfit.... To tell the truth it's glitched to high heaven lol. (And now that I'm looking at and writing this out I'm glad I made this ahead of time because one of the glitches actually got fixed :/ ) The fun thing about glitches on gaia online dot com is that they're super duper handy and yet a pain in the butt to deal with. Which is reason number one why she's wearing a sarong. Reason number two is that I love them and they add a bunch of flair to an outfit. Reason number three is that flowwwww. Mmm. It sort of gives Jiang Li a bit of a sitting vibe when combined with the legs?
That's I think ultimately why I chose to go this direction with the setting. A casual lounge on a deck chair, catching rays in the lazy day. There are other options for cruise ship railings but I'm not fond of them, so I chose to just stick with the normal ol boat instead. I tested out some random clutter (drinks mostly) on and around her but nothing either decided to layer well or looked quite right. Other than that, I'm quite happy with how this turned out. No drinks and all.
Beach Goth Designer: RENstrawberry Model: Rae Description:
The most difficult aspect of this challenge was coming up with a concept for Rae. Rae doesn’t appear to be a person who’s very fond of the sun, let alone the beach.
Eventually, I thought Rae’s pale complexion and features could work with this challenge in only one way. GO GOTH. I made Rae look super “spunky” for the last challenge and I wanted to mix things up and ended up doing a complete 180.
In contrast to the previous challenge, I knew I had to swap Rae’s all white attire for black and replace the spunky elements with some moody ones.
I began Rae’s outfit with the bikini. The end product of her bikini is a combination of several tops and bottoms. I then moved on to Rae’s leg pose that would later inspire me to add more tattoos. For the finishing touches on Rae, she needed some accessories. Sunglasses paired with an umbrella are a must for any goth to attend the beach! I wanted to make her outfit as functional as it was fashionable, so I originally decided to add a skull purse, but it was covered by her arms too much and looked strange so I opted for this coffin which sells the look a bit better.
For the finishing touches on her outfit I added the last bit of Rae’s tattoos and plenty of earrings.
For the background I originally added a warmer toned beach view, but then swapped it for a cool hued one to match the gothic vibe I wanted Rae to give off. I was able to layer this new one too for some extra pizazz.
Extra: I wanted to apologize for coming on and posting inconsistently. I’ve been away from home for two weeks to study at another school for summer credits and my LTE doesn’t work out here and this schools wifi won’t let me log in, so I always have to go off campus for any connection.
