Vanitas Ventus, Aqua & Terra's Brother "Cleaning under the sea is a real tail charge!"
[Player's Room] Before we start, one thing to note is that sometimes, Auto Detection in the Setup Program can work or not at all.
*PC Speaker* Counterpoint = Vanitas The PC Speaker is a Basic Sound Device in early PCs that's a Tone Generator which produces beeps but few games can do this as it sometimes has distortion. One example is the Original Duke Nukem where you hear zap beep sounds when firing your plasma pistol to destroy enemy robots. Vanitas said to the Viewers & Bayou
*Tandy 3-Voice* Counterpoint = Vanitas PC Jr Computers have the 3-Voice is is more simple than its real name, "Texas Instruments SN76489 Sound Generator" which is quite a mouthful. The 3-Voice can produce 3 Square waves at a single time that's set to frequency or white noise that you would hear on the SEGA Master System, minus the FM Sound System where only a few games on DOS had this. Vanitas said to Bayou
*Disney Sound* Point = Vanitas Disney Consumer Products' first foray into Sound Cards date back to Covox where some Computers had a Port you can use for 8-Bit Sound. When Disney released their Sound Source, it cost $14 which is cheap for a Sound Card. Some Games like Blake Stone, Disney's ABCs, Disney's 123s, Disney's Shapes & Colors and even Disney's Follow the Reader, had the option to use this feature either In-Game or via the Setup Program. Vanitas said to Bayou
*Creative Labs Part 1: Game Blaster* Counterpoint = Vanitas Long before the age of Sound Blaster Cards and Hardware Acceleration Sound. Creative Labs made their bread and butter with their Music System called Game Blaster which contained 2 Philips SAA1099 Processors to produce 12 Channel Sound and White Nose. Not a lot of games supported this as it came out late when the Adlib Sound Card arrived. Vanitas said to Bayou
*Adlib Sound System* Counterpoint = Vanitas For an old game to have Music and Sound, its a Rarity due to insufficient data such as Channels. Adlib bypassed this with their OPL2. Which had 9 Channels of High Waves or 6 Channels of Percussion as it had no White Noise. Most Games had Adlib Music and PC Speaker Sound. Adlib also worked on the Adlib Gold which while it had Sound Blaster Specs but was Costly back then as few games supported this. Vanitas said to Bayou
*Sound Blaster* Point/Counterpoint = Vanitas Since 1989, there has been countless Sound Blaster Cards but each of them have 3 features. Full Digital Sound with no distortion, joystick support & contains OPL2 Music Support. This is the reason why Creative Labs crushed Adlib. Most Games use the Factory Default Settings while some had odd cases where you had to adjust the settings so that the game would work.
Sound Blaster Pro contains a 44,1100 Frequency Rate in Mono while Stereo's Frequency Rate has 22 to 50. So some games that support Sound Blaster Pro's Stereo Mode can help improve. Sound Blaster 16, however may fail to Auto Detect, so you may want to adjust the settings until something works with the correct quality.
Sound Blaster 3.0 and onward have OPL3 Sound Mixing. Vanitas said to Bayou

Vanitas Ventus, Aqua & Terra's Brother "Cleaning under the sea is a real tail charge!"
[Player's Room] ...
*Gravis Ultrasound GUS* Counterpoint = Vanitas Most Sound Blaster Cards faced a bottleneck flaw and that was it could not mix Digital Sounds with Hardware Acceleration where the Games had do this using High Performance. The Gravis Ultrasound would bypass this by saving the Processing CPU for Gameplay. The Problem was is that GUS had limited memory and would have delays when doing so. Vanitas said to the Viewers & Bayou
*General MIDI & Hardware Acceleration* Point = Vanitas General MIDI is not just used for Gaming Standards but used as Musical Standard since it would sound on the Sound Hardware it was made for. Roland Sound made a Series of Sound Cards to work with the General MIDI Standards with the Highest Quality Possible. Which included the MT-32, Sound Canvas Series and several others before the General MIDI Standards came about. There are other Sound Cards during DOS Computers' Lifespan but there's too many to count but 2 notable ones are the IBM Music Feature which was very pricey at the time because it was expensive. Another one noting is the MediaVision Pro Audio Spectrum as it had some Sound Blaster Support. Nowadays, most Sound Cards use Hardware Acceleration and it would take a long time to discuss Retro Sound Cards, so that's far enough. Vanitas said to the Viewers & Bayou
= Active Time Event Feature Narrator: Quite. Audio and Video for Computers are Hardware Accelerated nowadays. Anyway, I added a new function in the IC called Active Time Events which sounds like an extension in a way but you're probably wondering, "What else is new with some of the characters in the meantime"?
Well, you can see what's happening in the Bonus Sequences Section in the RP via Character Skits. So when that happens, I'll see if I can name a Skit and include when its Active Time Event happened in the Current Day of the RP's IC and with whom. How does that sound?
In the Tales Game Series, Skits are short Active Time Event sequences between the characters. So if you enjoy seeing these Skits then, I've worked on an Active Time Event Gallery to see where you can find these Skits. The Narrator said to Vanitas and Bayou

Grant Prince of Arendelle, Norway (Elsa's Husband) "The six great elements heed my call."
[Player's Room] *Sale of the Century PSA Rules of the Game Preview* Grant and Elsa enter the player's room next Hello. I just wanted to take a moment to thank the Narrator for the OOC ideas he's been sending in to The Mermaid Princess RP with such alarming regularity. Anyway, we hope to see another Rules of the Game for Sale of the Century, another OOC Game to appear after more OOC Game Construction. The Problem is that there is a Sale of the Century Greyscale Version in 1969 but it's hard to find. The reason being that back then Network Practices regarding tapes was costly back then since the Master Tapes they were recorded onto were wiped and reused for other shows as the only surviving lost media would be Museum Quality and in the Collector's Market. Grant said to Elsa and the viewers
*Match Game Joke & Punchline Index Status* For Match Game's Jokes and Punchline Gallery, this is going to be a long one as there's a total of over 2,500 jokes from the Classic Eras from 1973-1979, PM 1975-1981, Syndication 1980-1982 & 1989-1991 Era. Do you hope to see so many jokes in Match Game OOC? As for new fill in the blank Custom jokes, what ideas do you have, Snowflake? Grant said to Elsa and the Viewers

What do you get when you dig a hole in the ground and fill it with denim? A jean pool
You see a boat filled with people, but when you look closer you don't find a single person in it. Why? Because everyone is married.
What do Egyptian Pharaoh's and sandwich filling have in common? They're both in bread.
What do a Unicorn and an ocean filled with orange soda have in common? They are both a Fanta Sea Why do balloons filled with helium cost more than balloons sold in packages? Inflation
I was with my son in the sandbox and he said, “take this shovel and start filling up this bucket, got it?” I dig.
A brand new type of tea! There's a new type of tea that changes colour, plays 8-bit tunes and even makes the whole room you're in fill the air with its contents.
It's called hue-midi-tea.
My wife has started keeping a dry-erase board labeled 'Grocery List' on the fridge, so I filled it in while she was gone this morning. Kroger
