Face it.
Love doesn't exist.
Only really dedicated lust. Everyone has a breakpoint in their relationship, all it needs is for someone to hit it, and their "love" goes out the window. Of course, those in love cannot believe this, because pheramones often times create hallucinogenic properties, much like those of acid, where one believes he is immortal, or can fly, or etc.
Except these are more aphrodesiatic, which make the delusions "love" related.
If you leave it for six months, and during that time, you miss them, you're in lust, not love.

All this love talk is inacurate of what love really is, as a wise old erm lets say person said once.
"Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope... Love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticule, and together, achieving a singular purpose against statistically long odds."

Cynical? Probably.
But I find that my experiments produce viable results. Love only lasts as long as you're lustful. Friendships, however, can last much longer.
It is better to have many friends than a single lover. Why? Men never change. but women do. The male will be the same guy he was in high school and college. But the women....
This creates tension in all relationships. Its the truth.
Let's look at Dr. Phil, the "expert" at "romance". He's fallen in "love". He's married. He's also been divorced three times....
Yea. I'm cynical. I'm also amused at the pathetic attempts at people younger than 25 who claim to be in "love".
Just get over the fantasy. At least you won't be disappointed at the truth.
