Af Mas hex_xombie My easter was pretty uneventful. Got a job and am already considering quitting. I hate the job...They tricked me and s**t and half the time I'm not getting paid. Also its been annoying cause our "roommate" is to have moved out by now and he won't and all I want is to spend a nice night, on the couch, cuddled with my hubby, watching movies while our daughter sleeps undisturbed. But that hasn't been able to cause he comes in and is loud and thinks he's the greatest thing since sliced bread.... What's the job? They told me it would be selling air conditioners and fixing them as well. BUT ITS NOT!! crying Instead I'm practically a door to door salesman for a vacuum called the Rainbow. I love the product but I hate the company. I only get paid if I show the rainbow to couple duel income homeowners or if I sell a Rainbow. But if I'm in the office doing work, like I have been for the past week, I don't get paid one cent. So I'm away from my daughter from 1 in the afternoon to 9 at night....

Yeah x.x I've had that situation before. Liars told me I'd be cleaning carpets, and I was going to be, but to sell their vacuum. I stopped going after the second training day

Hex, it sounds like you need to find a job that will pay you fairly.

Shaviv Hex, it sounds like you need to find a job that will pay you fairly. Yeah. I suggest something like a retail store. They pay you fairly.

Kakarotto-san Shaviv Hex, it sounds like you need to find a job that will pay you fairly. Yeah. I suggest something like a retail store. They pay you fairly. Heh ^^;;; I personally have to disagree... Since I've been getting paid 8.20/h for two years now for a PT job, and most retail positions won't pay differently for a FT position... PLUS, most places where I live, maybe not where everyone else does, but the starting wages for nearly every job oher than retail pays atleast 12 min for a starting wage. Retail sucks. for me anyway. <3

Retail does suck, I used to do it. But you get paid fairly. If you do an hour's work you get an hour's pay. That's what I mean by "fair". There's no scams involved.
Whereas being a waiter, or especially a waitress, that is a scam - you get paid below minimum wage and depend on tips.
I kind of liked my retail job. Since it was a bookstore, well, I was in my element as a salesman; when nobody was actually there, and if I had finished the accounting for that week, I could just open a browser and log into Gaia. Great stuff, even if it didn't pay that well.

My father found out he has work for the next 6 months (we were afraid they weren't going to give him anything) and they're going to pay his travel costs as well. So that's a bit of good news.
But in other news, I'm worried about my bank account. I've recently checked my account and found I have more than I thought, and it worries me. Me and my sisters are going to go over it tonight, but I'm worried about it.... it's never happened to me before. It's not a huge amount, but yeah.

So, I went to go get our dog back today. They wouldn't let me have him; said they had no record of my parents surrendering an animal, and even if they did, the dog belongs to the shelter now. They wouldn't even tell me if he was there or not. The only thing I can do is wait for him to show up on the adoption floor, and re-adopt him before someone else does. I can't go back there every day to check. =/ *sigh* Maybe it's for the best...He wasn't exactly a perfect match for our house, though I blame some of that on the shelter telling us that a) he was a boxer and b) that he wasn't going to get any bigger. I do miss him a hell of a lot though...and the dog was really the only reason I got any exercise. Guuuh....stupid emotional eating. ::cries and scarfs down more easter chocolate::

hex_xombie Shaviv Hex, it sounds like you need to find a job that will pay you fairly. Its hard since I don't have a good education. I only finished high school.... I would say, retail if nothing else, then. neutral For me, regardless of the rate of pay they'd offer me for the work they really wanted, if there was a way that I could put in a day's work on needful things (office work in your case) and that I would not get paid for it, that would be an instant walk-out-the-door. I want a job, I need a job, but I don't want and need a job so badly that I should be willing to accept such an insult. Please, don't give up. I'm confident that 100%-commission work is not the only thing you can do, and I bet there are a fair number of places that would hire you and actually pay you for the work you'd do for them. Like in the retail place I worked, or when I was doing laboratory shitwork (cleaning cages and feeding animals), I didn't get paid a lot: it wasn't skilled work, and to my detriment I was always getting more efficient at it. But I got paid for the work I did. I felt that even though I wanted to make more money, I was not being insulted as a thinking person or as a working person. My employers and I had agreed: I would do such and such tasks, and I would get paid such and such amount of money per hour for it. You know? I'm sorry. I don't mean to lecture you and I'm not angry at you, I'm disappointed in whoever hired you for their lack of decency. By the way, I went to the library today and took out Philip Zimbardo's new book, The Lucifer Effect. It's basically about how when we get "a few bad apples" in big institutions, like the army or prisons or whatever, it's almost never about genuinely bad apples but almost always about a genuinely bad environment that leads ordinary people to do horrible things. It is a real downer. I was about halfway through his story of the Stanford prison experiment ( http://www.prisonexp.org/ ) and I just had to put the book down and do other things for a few hours. I couldn't read any more of it, it was just too depressing, and with a touch of horror, too. While I think the book offers good material, the author sure likes to hear himself lecture. Partly because I've seen him speak in public, I can actually hear the text in his slightly nasal and strong Bronx accent. I won't hold his love of his own voice against him, though.

I was away at school, I didn't even get to say good bye

It pays for this big two story house, 3 cars, and everything we need or want. Several of our employees have been working there for many years as well. Just because the one place is paying you that amount doesn't mean everywhere is the same. Do some research and see if there is something better. At least they pay fairly like Shaviv has said. Every hour you put in is paid. 0_o..wtf..what did you do?
