"I noticed that much too, with that short Suicune encounter. Lot of power coming from it... but I think an ordinary person would notice something too if they were closeby." Aden knew he wasn't well versed in the subject by any means, though it sounded about right. "Still, other than those, I don't usually notice much or can trust those senses to work."

Aden knew he wasn't well versed in the subject by any means, though it sounded about right. "Still, other than those, I don't usually notice much or can trust those senses to work." "Well maybe we can work on that." I said, taking a few sips of the chicken noodle soup that I got from the cafeteria. "Here, do me a favor. Just take a deep breath and close your eyes. Just do nothing more than feel the heat from the bowl that you're holding." I said.

Already, Aden could see why doing this in more private settings was a good idea. Most would take what he was about to do with a confused stare. At the very least, it sounded easy enough. Almost too much so, but one had to start somewhere. He didn't say anything, but nodded and set the spoon down.
With the breath and him closing his eyes, he tried to focus on just that.

"Just let it come to you, Aden." I said to him. "Once you do that, try to expand. It's...it's...like expanding yourself I guess you can say. Its a radar, as such, its supposed to 'see' what's out there around you, near by, what have you." I said. "Just relax...and let it come..."

While Aden wasn't saying a whole lot on the matter, he kept at it. He found it easier to work everything else out of the equation, employing Calm Mind to achieve that goal. It wasn't quite as hard as he thought it would be, at least when it came to singling out the bowl and its warmth.
It was spreading it from there that'd be a bit difficult, having to slowly reverse the previous technique to allow more within his different view.

As I allowed Aden to concentrate, I went on my own soup bowl, taking a few more bites out of it. It was funny, actually. I was teaching what the Articuno at Mt. Silver taught me. "......." I just wondered if Aden was going to catch on, and for that matter, if it really was in a similar vein as what I had to deal with.

Gradually, more was noticed, but most of it was sketchy. He could notice Blizzard just fine, for the moment. Same for his own bowl. He had figured to try and get a grasp on the other bowl, but this was met with less than desirable results.
Then, a few seconds later, it faded. His senses had dulled, and he lost what he was trying to expand to. "...Lemme try that again." He said once he was certain it wasn't coming back so quickly, repeating the process.
He was going to get it sooner or later, darn it.

Ryan was close by...there were several others in this building, a couple of trainers perhaps...the nurse had to be for sure, plus the Chansey that aid her, some of the Pokemon for that matter that they tend to...and the one or two people in the kitchen. I wonder how much of a shock this was going to come to Aden when he starts feeling all this out.

Aden had a little bit of an easier time getting things localized and having it spread, trying again to at least get what the room itself had. He was able to get a better idea of what he was looking for, and he could get the rest of the room down. He was able to maintain it a little longer, nearly a minute, before it started to fail him again.
This time, however, he didn't fight to keep it going. He just let it fade so that he could get it going a third time, growing a little more efficient in his means. Not only did it localize and spread quickly, he was able to get it even further.
His senses spread beyond the room they were in, reaching to where Ryan was. Then some of the others around, maybe a Pokemon or two as well. He barely got to where he could notice another Pokemon, and while all of it lasted a brief time, the mild flood was enough to nearly make him fall backwards. "Uh...!"

I asked Aden. "What did you sense?" I asked, curiously.

"Kinda? I think my head almost spun." Aden spoke up once he had recovered a bit. "Gotta be because I'm not used to it... but you and both bowls were definite. I think Ryan too, and a couple of others that must be staying here too. There was a Pokemon or two after that, one having to be the resident Chansey. As soon as I got that, though, it stopped."

"A sensory overload, heh. Well hey, Aden, you're getting there. Just keep at it all you can, alright? You'll get better at it." I said. "You don't have to now, but work on it after you get done eating. I don't want you to fall over completely and spill that soup."

"I would say I'm not sure how anyone else does it, but you had to have learned yourself. Dad and sis probably have their own ways to achieve it, too." That little bit was more than enough to tell Aden that it, like nearly everything else lately, wasn't going to come too quickly. Something like that couldn't have been instant for anyone. "But yeah, that's probably a good idea."
Not that he didn't try as he resumed eating, but he was careful to limit it to the boundaries of the room. Anything further than that might not be so wise, and if he could get that much down, it'd give more of a starting ground.

I continued eating then finished off the soup, feeling rather content, I had to say. That soup was pretty good for hospital food, to say the least. Soon after which, I laid back and stared at the bunk above me. I still wondered how much doubt Aden had right at the moment about what kind of prowess he had. Pokemon Training would be one thing, he probably knows the sky is the limit on that one, to which end, I'd help him along with that as well. Its the other half of his training I wonder...

Aden's issues weren't so much of a doubt as his figuring that he just didn't have the same genetics as other hybrids. He knew he looked largely human, so his doubts came from the limits his own genetics imposed. Or so he thought.
Because of this, he figured that there would be some sort of plateau he'd reach. He did finish the soup somewhat quickly, to avoid it getting cold. But he kept to the mild practice, trying to at least maintain a little range with his sense.
