The Ruins of Serathlia [Intermediate/Beginner Fantasy]

"You are a talented warrior, and a great opponent to face!" Fayette replied. The only response to that, that Eikre could think of, was Flatterer. Seeing her own weapon choice being an axe and shield, he wondered, what? She can lift that?

Walking back on the mat, after Fayette agreed to round two, Eikre twirled the mace once in his hand. Weight was even, and it was nimble enough he could use it for offense and defense. He stood in a ready guard, shield out in front, with the mace close behind, and awaited Fayette's first attack.

Fayette stepped onto the mat with poise and elegance, and she faced Eikre. She held her shield was on her left, while she wielded her halberd with her right hand. The halberd she chose to wield was heavy, but not too heavy. She could lift it fine.

Fayette held up her shield in a defensive position, and then realized that Eikre was awaiting her first move. And so, Fayette came toward him quickly, swinging her halberd at him.

Mace in his left, and shield on his right (We've stated before that Eikre is obviously left-handed, right?) He raised his mace in the path of the swing, knocking it well up into a useless range above their heads. With the small shield leading, he used his right arm to punch at the handle of the halberd, hoping to knock it out of her hands.

It was sort of a dirty move, but it was something someone else was bound to do out on the road. May as well learn how to keep a grip on a weapon.  

[Otulissa]

Fayette saw what Eikre was doing before he did it, and therefore, she gripped onto her halberd tightly, and even though the mace's hit on her halberd made her take a step back, Fayette still have her weapon gripped in her right hand solidly. She took a few steps forward, pushing Eikre farther back, and holding her halberd right in front of her. She swiped the weapon outward, at Eikre.

His ploy didn't work, and Fayette was pushing a harder offensive. Eikre thought this as be back stepped a bit as he took the force of the blow on his shield. Eager to get off the defensive, he punched forward with his shield hand, aiming high again for the face, and brought his mace around in a low swipe at the same time.

Let's see her deal with that.  

[Otulissa]

Fayette ducked as Eikre punched forward with his shield hand. His move was smart, and Fayette was lucky that her first instinct was to bend over. She blocked the mace's swipe, and then took a few steps back. Fayette wondered what her next move should be, and she hastily decided upon an answer. Eikre was quickly assuming the offensive again, and Fayette wanted to be back on top. So, she ran towards Eikre, thrusting her halberd out, and swinging it, in an attempt to push Eikre back into the defensive.

Side-stepping the halberd thrust, Eikre put his shield in the way between himself and the halberd. When the halberd came swinging round after the thrust, Eikre was slow on the uptake, and rollwed backwards under the force of the momentum. Jeez that girl can swing a weapon! he thought to himself as he kicked out towards Fayette's legs.

Fayette swung the halberd again, and as Eikre kicked out towards her legs, she leaped up, still gripping onto the halberd tightly, and then landed nimbly on her feet. She thrust the halberd out towards Eikre once more, attempting to keep the offensive as long as she could. Her shield was still held at the ready, nonetheless.

After Fayette had leaped his little kick, she thrust at him again with the halberd. In response, Eikre rolled some more forward to dodge the halberd. Yes, that would involve rolling in Fayette's direction.

((It's all right. xD For battle scenes, I'm sure it's fine. wink That way, one character won't be doing a ton of actions, and then waiting for the other to respond. XD))

Fayette was not too surprised when Eikre dodged her halberd's thrust. But, then Fayette quickly realized something: in order to dodge her attack, Eikre was rolling forward. Rolling forward in her direction. Fayette hastily, but not clumsily, staggered backwards, and then took a few little hops back as Eikre rolled.

Lan had long since taken bets from all the guards. She considered taking a cut, but then reconsidered it. It would be a challenge, and she liked those, but it would also be dangerous to her companions, and for the first time in a long time, she actually had to worry about people other than herself. She was now openly rooting, shouting, jumping up and down, generally being annoying and distracting. People growled at her several times, but if this were a real fight, there would be distractions.

Eikre had no idea who Lan was cheering for, but he loved it all the same. A bard lives for entertaining, no? Leaping out of his role, Eikre came swinging high with his mace and used his shield down low in a pincer move. Knowing it was something she'd find a way to block, Eikre settled himself to keep it to a fight of endurance after this next exchange.  

[Otulissa]

Fayette couldn't help but giggle a little bit at Lan's over-enthusiastic and slightly silly cheering and shouting and rooting and jumping. Fayette blocked Eikre's pincer move with her halberd, and then thrust her halberd again.

Taking the halberd thrust to the shield, and the resulting shock through the arm, Eikre stumbled back a step. Not willing to give Fayette an opening for long, he backed off a little bit to pull himself back together. Sweat falling down his forehead fell into his eyes, and he wasn't about to wipe it away. Blinking through it, he set crouched a little, and put up a mid-guard.

Fayette charged again, using her strength to thrust the heavy weapon forward once again. Eikre wasn't the only one sweating; Fayette felt the heat tingling across her body and a sweat drop dripping down her forehead from her hairline.
