He noticed that Gali had been startled by his voice but he couldn't blame her when that strange male had been staring at her like that. All he could do at this point was to protect her from Kijembe, and provide support while they continued to search. He words made him bring his paaws to a stop for a moment before continuing. "Don't worry, if we did miss one because of that commotion then we will just need to keep looking. Better they run away from where he is." He glanced over his shouler to where he had last seen Kijembe.

Her next question made him smile a bit as they continued to walk. The more distance he put between them and Kijembe the better. "Your mother is the one who saw me into the pride. She had been out walking the borders when I came along. After a talk I come to the decision to join." He glanced bac at her. "I think it was the right decision to make." There was a slight smile on his maw. "Those lands out there," he continued. "Were not for me, it's dangerous out here, much like it is here in the forest. This life that I have now, better suits me." Of course no life was perfect, but here he was happier and would live a better life than he would in the rogue lands.

Parisette frowned a little, triyng to think of who tha t'black beast' would be, but she was horrified that the male had been raising a paw to hit the cub - or she assumed by the story the female told her. "Well, that was very brave of you!" Parisette said, nodding. "I'm sure the little one will thank you, once she stops shaking so hard." The cub was still tucked by her side, shaking in fear and not looking at the lioness who 'saved' her.

"Of course," she said, nodding when the female said, excusing herself. "Please don't let me stop you. We have only found a couple so far, so many more to find," she mused, her own tone concerned, before looking back at Maua and Raizela. "Thank you," she told them, before returning her gaze to the juvenile tucked at her side. The pair could leave, if they wanted, Parisette's first priority was now the youth with her.

The fact that Maua had brought him in to the pride somehow tainted his presence there. He might not realize it, but Gali knew her mother. His induction was just another way for Maua to boost her place in the pride. Suddenly his as a noble made more sense. Maua would never have allowed a properly purple lion, even one with so little purple as Kamau had, to be a commoner.

As she reached the edge of the stream and caught a look at her reflection, she realized the spectacle she must have looked. Hopefully her mother hadn't taken too much notice of her daughter's currently unacceptable appearance. She looked over at Kamau and noticed he had less mud on him than she did, but it stood out more on his fur than it did on hers. Well, her paws stood out. She had white fur also, in part.

"Pridelands are usually safer than the rogue lands. There are those who know how to use them and can live there, and those who are not suited to them. It is good you found your way here." Her smile encompassed him and let Maua's participation in his arrival blow over her. When had she had such problems with her mother? That was Nyota's place, not Gali's. "You will be more than welcome with the others in the pride. The nobles like to have new blood in their ranks."

Part of her attention was always on Kamau now, though the greater part of her focus was on trying to find the sight or the sound or the scent of a cub. She would be unhappy if they had actually missed a cub.

Mot'e was a little bit startled when she heard a voice, and for an instant was hopeful until she realized it was the voice of an adult, and upon turning around, saw it was the shape of one, too. She recognized the pink lioness as a member of the pride, Melda, though she didn't know her personally. She shuffled her feet and thought of how she should respond.

"Uhm, ah, yes, I guess." She didn't want to admit it, but if she said no, she'd be horrible! "Yes. I was just thinking about finding some food to try to lure them out." Her eyebrows were furrowed and she tilted her head. Maybe it'd be good to have some input from someone else, to see if her idea was any good or not.

Ugh... What if they weren't old enough to eat meat? Then what would she do!?

Melda smiled "That seems like a good idea! I'm sure the cubs must be getting hungry by now! Poor things... I can't imagine how that lioness could just leave them to fend for themselves like this..."

Of course, she knew the lioness hadn't known the cubs would flee into the forest. She had probably thought they would go find homes, not run scared. But how silly a thought that was!

She hadn't been adult enough to stick with them until they found homes. Did she think she was some kind of hero for it?

"If you would like help, I'd be happy to stick around. I'm sure we'll find a cub together at some point, you know?"

His roamed roamed over the area as they walked, on either side of them was the forest and to their immediate left was the stream. He wondered about their next step, where could they look next for the cubs? They had checked a good chunk of the stream, a portion of the forest, stuck their head into practically every hole, crevice and nook and cranny but had found nothing. They had tried calling out to the cub, walking casually, searching high and low, heck Gali had even tried laying in the mud of the stream and to no avail. He glanced sidelong at her, it was nice to meet a lioness who wasn't afraid to get dirty when the situation called for it.

"Indeed." He said in regard to her words. "And there are those that are suited to life in the rogue lands and would be downright miserable within a pride." He brought his paws to a stop. "Are we going about this all wrong?" He questioned and then realizing his question may be a bit vague he clarified. "For finding the cubs I mean. I'm certain there is no perfect way to find them, but I feel like we are missing something, something important." The offers of safety, food, water and company had not brought any cub out of hiding, assuming that there were any nearby to hear their offers. He glanced off to the forest. "We are trying to find you!" He called out, even though they had tried that plenty of times. "But we cannot help if you remain hidden."

"The forest... it must have been playing tricks on me," Beatrix said hesitantly, though she was certain she had seen a cub. She dismissed the thoughts from her mind quickly and focused her attentions back on Hinekiri and the den she had found. What the fellow lioness said made sense, like with Beatrix's theory concerning the brush, if there was a cub to be found, certainly it would hide in an actual den.

"Let us check, than, Miss Hinekiri," She said with a pleasant smile as Hinekiri entered first. With the two of them they would have to proceed cautiously. Not that an abandoned cub would view two pleasant and soft speaking women as a threat, but they would no doubt still be nervous around the pair.

"Hello? Is there anyone down here? We've come to help you," Beatrix said quietly, following after Hinekiri. She began to hum, hoping that a soothing melody might entice the cub out, "I see the stars and the stars see me, they come from above to help guide me. Back to my home so far, far away. Hoping that I will no longer stray."

Hinekiri listened to the song that Beatrix sang, she herself found it very comforting. "Hello there, we are here to help you we will keep you safe." she was doing her best to use a calm and soothing boice, it wasn't overly hard for her as she usually didn't speak very loudly to begin with. She looked around really had wondering if there was anywhere left in the den that she could look. It was hard to tell cause it was so dark in here, there where corners everywhere that could go unexplored.

"Hello?" she tried to scan everything around her. "I don't think there is any cubs in here." Hinekiri sighed turning back to Beatrix. "I don't kow where else to look, perhaps we shoudl wonder around the forest more, there is lots of places in this forest to hide, or get lost." Slowly but surely the bright lioness was feeling defeated she had wanted to prove herself, she wanted to be strong. Perhaps it had been a bad idea for her to come out into the forest looking for these cubs. She shook her head trying to get rid of the negative thoughts, they wouldn't do her any good now.

Setting to leave the den Hinekiri turned one last time "If you are here you have to come out my little friends... we want to help you, we will take you to a nicer place somewhere that you will be safe and loved."

Something shifted inside the den Hinekiri and Beatrix had found, a whimper sounding before another voice made a very clear "shhhh".
PostPosted: Tue Feb 15, 2011 7:33 pm

Hinekiri spun around and around in a circle. "Did you hear that?" she asked in barely more then a whisper. She squinted her eyes trying to see into all the dark shadows. "I swear there was something there. "Please come out we promise we want to help you, nothing bad will happen." there was a hint of desperation in her voice as she turned and looked back towards her new friend.

Beatrix was beginning to feel the sense of defeat as well as no one answered Hinekiri. She nodded her head to the other lioness and proceeded to follow after her still humming quietly when she herself her something deep within the den. Hinekiri only solidified what she thought she heard when her head came whipping around and asking if she had heard anything.

"I did," Beatrix whispered quietly, her humming dying off. She turned around slightly and peered down into the den, "Is anyone there? Little stars? Are you watching us?"

Soon enough, a small cub came from the darkness of the rear of the den, dirty and trembling. She looked up at Hinekiri, then Beatrix, wondering if she was making the right choice. Looking over her shoulder, she prompted her friend to come out with her.

The even smaller pup whimpered as he came into the faint light creeping in from the entrance to the den. The small, misplaced boy had no idea what to do in the presence of so many lions.

"I thought I-" Kunstig had started to answer the lioness, only to be cut short by a small green lion bounding out from the bushes. Startled, he backed rather quickly to stand closer to the protectiveness of his sister before he finished realizing it was a cub that huddled around the blue lioness' legs. Well what do you know, lullabies really did make a good lure for cubs...

...and lots of other lions too it seemed. More strangers than just the musical female made the small male a bit uncomfortable. Strangers were to be kept at a safe distance, the more there were, the more distance he'd like to hold them at. Of course, their attention seemed more on Parisette and the cub than on himself and his sister. Lucky them.

Quietly, Kunstig edged just a bit closer to his sibling. No, he was not hiding behind her he was just... making sure to not be in her way should trouble arise. That was all. Really. "Seems fond of you," he commented after a moment, watching the way the little green feline huddled beneath the lioness' legs. One cub found, how many more to go?

Hinekiri went quickly to the little ones, nuzzling the green cub. "Shh little ones its okay." she whispered, we are going to take you home. You will be safe." She turned to Beatrix, "They are so dirty and small, we have to get them to the pride quickly."

She didn't waste much time she picked up the green cub in her mouth and made her way out of the den and back through the path that led back to the pride, she had been careful to mark her path and pay attention as she had travelled into the forest, and luckily enough she hadn't gone to deep. It wasn't long before she began to see the light at the edge of the forest. She was looking around for both her father and Sian. She wanted to let them both know she was safe, before she took the cub beack to her den to clean her up and get her some food.

Beatrix was surprised to find not one, but two missing little ones huddled together in the darkness of the den. A little lioness and what looked to be a little boy hyena. They looked so dirty and cold, it made her stomach sink to know someone simply dumped them here.

She made her way swiftly to the side of the little boy and gave him a few licks to soothe him quietly, "It's alright, we're here now. You'll be ok little star."

Beatrix nodded quickly to Hinekiri and picked up the little male as tenderly as she could. She figured no matter how she grabbed him he'd feel a little uncomfortable, lion teeth were much different than that of his birth parents, but she tried her best not to hurt him. Beatrix decided to follow after Hinekiri to the end of the edge of the forest. Hinekiri had been here for much longer than she had and was bound to know her way around. It didn't take long for them to reach the edge of the forest and Beatrix quickly made her way back into the folds of the pride, the little male hyena held carefully in her mouth.

Mot'e nodded. It seemed like such a terrible thing to take a bunch of cubs into a foreign place and leave them to fend for themselves. She tutted and shook her head. It was shameful! She wouldn't really blame the female that had lost them all, as to her understanding there was a ton of little babies, and cubs did get out of hand quite easily, but they were just as likely to be caught underfoot. If only that were the case!

She nodded to Melda. "Maybe one of us should hunt for food and the other one for cubs?" She tilted her head, wondering if that too, was a good idea.

Parisette glanced up as Kunstig spoke, having momentarily forgotten about him and his sister, who had stood by quietly during the drama of the cub who now clung to Parisette rather desperately. "I think she'd be fond of anyone who wasn't yelling or trying to hit her," Parisette said, almost dryly though she was rarely sarcastic or dry. She glanced down at the cub, who was staring at Kunstig with wide eyes.

She smiled at the cub, then at Kunstig. "I think she likes your green," she remarked with a light laugh, before cuddling the juvenile closer to her.

"What's your name, little one?" she asked the cub, but only received a wide-eyed stare. "We won't hurt you," she assured her, but still, the cub merely watched her, not saying anything. Parisette held back a frown, before brushing her paw soothingly across the juvenile's back. "Well, I guess she's a little shy," she excused, though worry lurked in her eyes. What if she'd hurt herself? How terrible!
