I think smoking is worse than drinking. Smoking can kill you very easily, and it affects others. Sure drinking IF you get drunk, thats an if, can be dangerous but thats getting drunk, if your smart enough you wont get drunk but smoking...even if your not "high" if accects people, it hurts you and it's just horrible.

I agreee with this.
Also, You can drink once in a while and not be an alchoholic, but I've never met a person that smoked only on occasion and wasn't addicted.

I honestly don't care what people do, if they're of age to do it.
It doesn't bother me at all, because it's their choice, not mine.
The only thing I'll get mad at is 11 year old kids smoking and getting drunk. You don't need to be doing that at that age...or any really young age (no offence to any pre-teen smokers)

Lots of people posting on this topic seem to have the impression that smoking is worse for you than drinking. This is simply not true. Ive been smoking 3 or 4 cigs a day since I was 14 (4 years) and I am still in peak physical condition. I go snowboarding twice a week and I am never out of breath. If I had taken a shot of alcohol every other smoke I would be near dead. Also, in the context of a party, people are inside, chilling and trying to have fun. To flip s**t when someone lights a cig is just mean. If it bothers you that much then move. On the other hand, it isn't that hard to just go outside for a minute. Personally, I use smoking as an excuse to be outside, I hate smoking inside. Whatever.

One more thing I would like to say... If someone chooses to kill them self smoking, SO WHAT. Its their own damn business. Telling people that they are not allowed to kill themselves is a 100% Christian idea, and Christians just happen to be the #1 anti-goth voice across the globe. Keep that in mind.

Ive noticed that a lot of people posting here are very anti underage drinking/smoking. There are 2 things I would like to say about that.

1.) The U.S. is one of like 3 countries to have a 21/18 age limit on drinking/smoking. The majority of the other countries have a much lower age, if any. So what, has god decreed that 21 is the "official age" of drinking? Like, its no longer a sin if you do it after your twenty first birthday? The fact is that its bad for you period, regardless of how old you are. Kids in the U.S. have basically no rights and this upsets me greatly. Its just like sexual or racial discrimination.

2.) There is a flip side to the underage drinking argument that no one ever seems to consider. In my opinion, kids should be allowed to explore drinking BEFORE they have any responsibilities. If a kid gets s**t faced, then he endangers himself, and acts like a stupid idiot. Maybe he hooks up with a chick that he wouldn't have normally, and doesn't pay attention in school the next day. If an adult gets s**t faced, they have access to a drivers license. If they get arrested for drunkenness they will probably lose their job. If they do it at home they may abuse their family, and they are being a bad example to their kids. And if a married adult hooks up with some random person, bad juju. So maybe there should be a drinking age CUTOFF. (Thats a lie).

Just throwing out some alternate opinions for you guys.

Just cause some bible pounding government type says something doesn't make it true. Also, I'm amazed at the number of "but it makes u die so its bad" people posting here. Got GOTH? GOTH?!? Since when did death become taboo in goth culture? *DEATH rock*?

And as for it killing other people, secondhand smoke kills children that breathe it from age 1 all day long until they are 18 because their idiot parents smoke and their house is always filled with smoke. You do not get cancer from breathing secondhand smoke at parties every other weekend. The French fries you eat at Macdonald's are killing you ten times faster than any second hand smoke.

My dad aint dead, and his parents are both (still) heavy smokers....but then again, longevity is on their side.

My point was that smoking (ESPECIALLY second hand smoke) isn't as bad as all of the lovely opinionated anti-smoking zealots would like to think. And I'm glad your not dead. smile But what I meant is you are much more at risk for lung cancer than other people. "Smoking" never kills anyone, cancer does.
