Roll Information Name of Lion: Kokumo Adult or Adolescent: Adult Male or Female: Female What did you roll: 4, 4 (hit) Total damage: 4 8
Roll Information Name of Lion: Inkungu Adult or Adolescent: Adult Male or Female: Female What did you roll: 2,2 (glancing blow) Total damage: 1 2
Kokumo hadn't managed to help much with the crocodile, torn between trying to help and trying to keep an eye on their large prey. She was very relieved when the scaly beast let go, without taking a tail tuft with it. However, losing the tip of a tail would have been a small price to pay for getting away. Speaking of getaways. Since she wasn't as close to the water as the others she was able to strike at the backside of the hippo as it tried to attack her friends. She slashed with her claws where the tendons in the legs ought to be, but she wasn't sure about hippo anatomy. She hit something at least, and snarled at the beast before moving out of the way.
---
Ikungu jumped out of the way when the hippo headed their way, and she managed to scratch its side lightly when it passed her. She didn't know if she even pierced the skin, but they would wear it down eventually. Despite the crocodile attack she was glad they had decided to continue with the hunt. Ilanga seemed to be fine now, right? Adrenaline rushed through her body, but she forced herself to move away from the hippo before trying to attack again. So far the tactic had worked for them. As long as no one stayed too long near the animal it wouldn't be able to know where to attack!
((I was supposed to double the hits, right?))

Roll Information Name of Lion: Udaka Adult or Adolescent: Adult Male or Female: Female What did you roll: 2, 3 Total damage: 2 (x2) 4
Roll Information Name of Lion: Sturm Adult or Adolescent: Adult Male or Female: Male What did you roll: 1, 5 Total damage: 5 (x2) 10
Having dispatched the croc with the other lionesses, Udaka turned to face the now ticked off hippo. It was bleeding from a few good hits and bites on its rear end, but now the tusks were coming out to play. This wasn't going to get any easier, especially now that they knew a croc was in the water.
She reached out as the hippo spun, getting a hit on its hind legs which were already bloody. It was obvious this thing was still full of energy, though.
Going off his adrenaline rush from the sudden appearance of the croc, Sturm decided to try his luck at latching on to the hippo. He jumped and landed heavily on its rear end, biting at the base of its spine just before it reached its tiny tail. He got a good mouthful before being flung off, but he came away with some skin in his mouth. Ha! Take that you thing!

HP: 354 _____________________________
EVENT The hippo seems...well, otherwise unamused by the attempts the lions were making to try and take it down. Most swipes met just thick skin, but with each swing, they were getting further and further into it's hide until one finally pisses it off enough. Bellowing loudly, the huge beast turned, colliding with Sturm and sending him to the ground with ease. That blow would certainly leave some nasty scrapes and bruises later on. As it turned to continue its rampage, it slipped in the mud that had formed after the previous day's rain. Falling to it's side, it left an opening for the party to make a significant impact on it.
FOR EVERYONE Roll 1, 6-sided dice. You may roll once per character. This will stay open until either 20 points have been reached, all potential characters have been rolled or 4 hours have passed.
1. You don't make any connecting attacks as it kicks you away. 2. You get a few swipes in, but have to retreat quickly as it throws its head up. 3. A few hits, you draw blood, but nothing major. 4. A few hits, you draw blood, but nothing major. 5. A few hits, but one of them earns the anger of the hippo! As you back away, you slip in the mud. 6. A few hits, but one of them earns the anger of the hippo! As you back away, you slip in the mud.
Do not make any other attacks on the hippo until you are given the go-ahead.

((Kokumo first, Inkungu second as usual. Both got: A few hits, but one of them earns the anger of the hippo! As you back away, you slip in the mud.))
"She's going down!" Ikungu called excitedly, stating the obvious as the large beast slipped and fell. She took the opportunity to attack the exposed belly and got a few hits in before having to dodge the jaws of the hippo. The grey lioness stood on her hind legs for a moment before slipping and falling backwards in the mud.
"Oof," she exclaimed as she landed with a wet thud, she'd feel that in the morning.
---
Kokumo growled as she took several swipes at the downed beast. She backed up, but when nothing happened she tried to get a few more hits in. Unfortunately the hippo was getting fed up and snapped its jaw together too close for comfort. Kokumo yelped and backpedaled, trying to find her footing in the mud. She slipped and ended up on her belly, with her face full of mud. Temporarily blinded by the muck she scrambled in what she hoped was the right direction. Slipping and getting bit by a hippo would be a dumb way to go, and Han would never forgive her.

HP: 0 | DEFEATED | _____________________________
EVENT Fur shed, cries hung in the air. The beast had managed to find the strength to regain its footing only to lose it again. With a loud, mournful bellow, the behemoth sunk to the ground in defeat as finally, finally the wounds had taken their toll. As it's blood soaked the earth beneath it, it let out one final cry before succumbing to the wounds the hunting party had inflicted upon it. The hippo was dead and the lions had won.
Mud caked all the way up to belly and her face moist with the blood of the fallen hippo, Imbali breathed heavily, a wide grin on her face. She had watched the body still and with it a sight of relief had left her lungs. There was no victory cry from either her or Umfana's lungs, no matter how much they likely wished to. Hyenas were a threat now, as were the crocodiles that were only a stone's throw away from the hunting party and their kill.
"Who wants to return to the pride and tell them about the successful hunt?" Imbali asked quickly as her eyes scanned over the relatively elite hunting party for a volunteer. "Those that stay behind will need to help move the body so the area is safe for the cubs that can make the journey." Of course the elderly would likely stay behind with the younger cubs, but there were several litters that should be able to make the journey to the hippo's body.
OOC
After months of delay, the hippo is finally defeated!
You guys are amazing! I meant to do so much more with this, like that event was only supposed to knock off a hundred or so HP, but ended up running into RL issues which prevented me from completing this so instead of dragging this on even more, I'm just going to have it have dealt a huge blow to the hippo, which, ultimately killed it. I apologize for the delay in this happening and certainly look forward to wrapping this up finally and officially! Again, I apologize for the delay on this, you guys. ; w ;
Oh! And whoever volunteers will need to do a quick RP with Bangizwe letting him know about the successful hunt! So please be up for that if you have you lion volunteer to head back!

Watching the beast fall was impressive. Udaka held her breath, willing the creature to stay down, but ready to act if need be. She licked her lips and dug her claws into the mud until the hippo ceased all movement. Thank the gods it was over. That had been much harder than she thought.
As Imabli asked someone to return the message to the pride, she lifted her head and flicked a bit of mud off her ear. It was hard to see just where she was splattered, thanks to her coat coloration, but she was certainly a mess like everyone else. "I will return to tell them the news," she said, stepping forward. This had been her moment to prove herself to her new pride, after all. Everyone was exhausted and some even hurt from the fight. She was tired but uninjured so it was only right to finish the job she had come to do.
Sturm was panting heavily after the fight as well. The last little attack from the hippo had winded him pretty good. He was glad it was over, though...that meant they'd get to rest! Well. Maybe. They'd have to move the body first, somewhere where the crocs couldn't get it so easily. And then they'd have to set up a guard to make sure no scavengers came to try to steal their meal from them...bah. This was a lot of work!
