Shun followed along, remaining silent all the while. He was just watching Ezra, still, in case he decide to try and pull something while they were here.

Nasir followed, looking over the things that Wil showed up. It was interesting enough, really, the scrying that had been mentioned. "So that's what ..." he trailed off, looking up at Ezra.

That was what he was trying to do? Give back to these two girls what was taken from them? Looking things over, he picked up the mirror that Wil had used and the sketch of the girls. "I think ... I want to try," he told his boyfriend, pulling things to him and sitting down.

He squeezed Wil's hand and let go. It was easy to focus on a task at hand, especially given all the warg training, and now that Ezra was found (and no combat had happened), the fury had left. Nasir was back to calm once more, instead trying to piece together things. The sketch of the girls and the Burning Man was slid under the the mirror as he focused. What is left for the Burning Man to do? To give back what is stolen from them?

Nasir sees the metal-and-bloodstained Charter. It's in the real world; he can tell by the lack of dust, the lack of that general magical atmosphere. A girl with one arm holds her hand above it; her fingers are shaking.

Leila stood up, walked over to Eve, gave her a meaningful shoulder touch and sat down next to her. Eve, having recieved a thought along with the contact, squinted and shrugged and said, "Worth a try." It wasn't like either of them were going to strike up a friendly conversation with the man who'd called himself their son months ago.

Eve took a fresh piece of paper and drew a triangle with a line running through the top corner: the alchemical symbol for air. The three stones from earlier were put on the corners, and Leila's phone was placed within the triangle.

They arranged the space in this way because even though the CD was destroyed, she'd long beforehand copied the audio files of Ezra's guitar playing like the overly sentimental sap she was -- and then hadn't been able to work up the nerve to delete them after the Conference. The air symbol was intended to convey that the focus item wasn't the device the song would be played on, but the song itself. One of the tracks was selected to play on repeat, at a very low volume, and Leila borrowed Eve's compact mirror to place on top of the phone.

Biscuit sat heavily on her shoulder, but it was more of a comfort than a distraction.

I need to know Lord Ezra's next move. What is he planning right now? Or what is he thinking?

"It's- There's a girl with only one arm," he said, glancing up from the mirror's surface. It was strange, doing something like this but ... "Not here, but the other side. Her hand was shaking as she held it over something covered in metal and blood."

His shoulders stretched, Trouble perched there and gently pressing his nose to Nasir's neck. It was reassuring. "I asked what was left to do and that's what it showed me." He looked over to Ezra. "I think that ... might mean what we want from him may not be in his hands anymore."

Looking back down at the mirror, he smoothed his hand across the surface - wiping what he saw away and looking once more for something else. This time he was focused on the girl that he had seen, the one without an arm. What does she have to do with it? What happens next? It, of course, is the blood-stained and metal covered Charter. The focus, he assumed, they were looking for.

Leila sees a quiet, comfortable room, blue walls, chestnut brown molding. Ezra is cross-legged on the floor, the liquid metal and the blood gone. He's holding a watch. He clicks it on: the timer on the screen is counting back from thirty minutes.

THERE SOME GORE IN HERE BUT NOT TOO MUCH MAYBE?

Nasir drops back into a vision. The girl with one arm is there again. The bandaging around her missing limb is thicker in this vision; she seems to have a hard time standing. But she wrestles open an enormous trunk-freezer and peers inside it to look at a carefully Saran-wrapped arm and shoulder.

She looks at it for a long time, markedly queasy.

"This better work," she whispers finally, and then shuts the freezer. The vision ends.

[ENTERING FROM EZRAHUNT]

Oliver was still way too on guard from everything happening, but Elliot was here, and Horace was here, and Nugget was here on his shoulder and for a second, things felt pretty okay. Told you I'd be careful he beamed right back before making his way over.

"Hi guys." He looked a little tired, but pretty much intact. "How'd scrying go?"

<He's waiting for something. Half an hour,> Leila sent to Algernon and Horace in turn. Hopefully they'd pass it along if they deemed it a worthy update.

She returned attention on her mirror, keeping the setup she and Eve had made together.

What happens when that time is up? What is Ezra waiting for... what will he do?

Leila sees it again.

An intersection. The lights change color. Cars pass, pedestrians cross on the free side.

Students in neat rows in her classroom. Her eyes are human and normal.

Lady--no, Tate--does up her hair. She looks older, twenty-six or twenty-seven. A graduation gown hangs behind her: there's a hood trimmed in white and red, and a gold cord draped over its shoulders. She smiles at herself in the mirror.

As for Ezra--when Leila sees the flash of him, he's not flesh any longer. He is flame, and he is with his daughters, and the sky above them is lit with arcane and terrifying constellations.

Lily fell in behind the others, her eyes on Ezra as she settled in somewhere near the door. She said nothing, but there was some strain to her expression, the way she held her arms together, the way she tapped her foot. She watched for Eve but did not move closer to her, lingering somewhere near the door a respectable distance away from Shun. While everything was calm, she focused on her breathing, trying to find a form of stillness while she waited for the other shoe to drop.

Horace sucked in another breath. He wanted to go to Oliver, but there was no time for anything. "We need to find the components; we need to find Melany." The girl with one arm... "Eli, help me." He couldn't look for everything by himself. He called Nugget over, sending Ollie out a quick Sorry. Then he backed up into his usual spot.

Ezra's attention was caught by Melany's name, and his yellow eyes narrowed as he looked over towards Horace and Eli.

Then he smiled a crooked and boyishly attractive smile and shook his head.

"I think," Preacher said jovially. "We should prolly blindfold and stuff 'is ears fulla cotton." She stuffed her hands into her pockets. "So where's tha fingerprints, hot stuff?"

"Out of your reach," said Ezra.

Oddly, the fetches seemed to have cleared the third floor upon Ezra's arrival. Possibly to remove any allies he might have.
