D-i-v-a YamiCheza youkoonna eternally_the_siren_sings D-i-v-a Kenaserenity Vic was in FullMetal Alchemist, ( arrow unrelated to FMA arrow ) FullMetal Panic and FMP Fumoffu, DNAngel, Bleach, Trigun, Samurai Champloo, and a lot of other shows and games- I love his voice and the emotion he brings into his roles. biggrin Vic..hmm? yeah heard of him, I don't really like that voice actore *hides/don't killme* Maybe its because I try to avoid dubbs, but I do watch alot, I really do. My favorites are -John Burgmeier (suprising since funimation isn't really good at doing dubbs most of the time, loved him as Kurama) -Luci Christian (Think thats her name, but honestly I LOVED the rolls she did from Ran Kotobuki, Fullmetal Panic! Kaname, Himeno/pretear) -Greg Ayres - (speaks for itself, he's just amazing) -Chris Patton - ( heart ) -Justin Cook (Yusuke!) Anyone heard of these guys? ^^; ive heard of Luci Christian, Greg Ayres, and Justin Cook. I heard that Justin Cook is Aaron Dismuke's cousin. Does anyone know if that's true? Heard of everyone except Patton. I loved John as Kurama as well. XD me, too. 3nodding I thought he was really good as Kurama. he actually sounded like a guy unlike in the Japanese version of the show and the English version of the YYH movie (the poltergeist report). XO the voices were so bad in that movie, i missed all the FUNimation voices! stressed i thought Justin Cook was perfect for Yusuke, too. 3nodding OMG I know! I waste 8 bucks buying the dubbed movie at HMV, I then threw it away after watching five minutes...I still miss my eight dollars. Although thank GOD I already had an official copy in Japanese with Subititles (the coverart is so pretty, It's like wood or something o.o) OMG yes, As much as I love Megumi Ogata, she does make Kurama sound a bit feminine. Justin Cook and John Burgmieir seem to have been BORN to play the roles of Yusuke and Kurama in the dubb. (especially LOVED how john did Youko's voice *-* ) Yes!! I usually like the Japanese more, but John and Justin were perfect and John did an awesome job on Yoko!! *o* I had to watch the movie in Japanese just to enjoy the one good thing about it: the cool fight scenes. That's the only good thing really about that movie. I love the part where Hiei's fighting the demons and creating huge car crashes. xd

"Gentlemen, we can rebuild her. We have the technology...." Being one to always watch a few eps ahead in the subbed version online while keeping my normal schedule of watching dubs weekly (which means I'm really watching the series in two separate languages at once), I'd rate the english version....um.....6. Out of 10. The voice acting was really week at first, but at least it seems they did improve over time. In recent eps, the voice actor for Kai has been putting in more emotion, which makes me happy. I still disprove of Diva's voice though. They made her WAY too snotty sounding!
"We can make her stronger, faster, better......but not smarter."

Even though she made Kura sound like a woman, it still sounded better than the English dub for the movie in my opinion. @Diva: Storywise, I thought that the Kurama and Kuronue part was the only good part but at the same time it was frustrating for me cause i knew that dude was messing with Kurama's mind! gonk

enigma_098 Vic Micnogna? The one who voiced Edward Elric? ^_^ whee ~remembers the English version of "Brothers"~ Wow, the English version of Blood+ sounded that bad? T-T That Vic indeed. *loves English "Brothers"* Yeah...there are better dubs out there. I actually think the dub of Death Note is pretty good.

The English dubs suffer so much because, one, the actors tend to be picked more arbitrarily than the Japanese Seiyu are (and often by casting directors who may not have a good grasp of whet the anime is about), and, two, when dubs are made the actors usually have to sit alone in the sound booth working off what the director thinks is good, whereas in Japan they often have all the actors involved in a scene in the same booth at the same time, interacting with each other, both out of character, and in character.
And the censorship is a factor too, as for some reason the people who make English dubs often try to make their version fot a different, usually younger, market.
Another problem is the fact that in Japan they only allow eight (8 ) minutes of advertising per half hour, and in North America they allow twelve (12) minutes. We lose four minutes per episode on the commercial channels. Private or subscription channels might not do the full twelve minutes, but the major networks always will.
