Storming through the party like my name was El Niño When I'm hangin' out drinking in the back of an El Camino As a kid, was a skid and no one knew me by name. I trashed my own house party ‘cause nobody came. Cause we like having fun at other peoples expense and, Cutting people down is just a minor offence then, It's none of your concern, I guess I'll never learn. I'm sick of being told to wait my turn. He laughed and nodded along amiably before he took a seat somewhere in the midst of the long table, surrounded by the rest of the lions in their den. With the tilt of his head, he prodded a brow to rise to the heights of his forehead as he glanced over his shoulder, first toward the hat, and then towards the snake pit at the other end of the hall. He shrugged. ”Eh, that just means more fun for us,” He laughed simply as he turned those wide chocolate eyes back on to Ronna. ”More people to poke fun at.”
Callously indifferent to most affairs, Crash had a bored and lazy expression on his face as he darted his vision to the Staff Table on the raised dais platform of the great hall and spotted the History of Magic professor being escorted off, and the Headmistress was quickly in tow. A furrowed brow bred curiosity in his mind as he jerked a thumb that way, and without really talking to anyone in particular, he said, ”I wonder what’s going on over there?” He shrugged his shoulders once again, spared a moment to look at the prefects as one nearly burst into tears and he blinked again. Just what the hell is going on around here, anyway?

• Nam et ipsa scientia potestas est. • "Hogsmeade? I think I skimmed over it in one of those introductory books... it seems so weird that there's an entirely different world out there. An entire wizard village, hidden in Scotland? Wizards hide their skills pretty well." Miranda said to him before reaching for a cauldron cake herself. It was a peculiar looking pastry that looked as its name suggested - like a cauldron. She took a bite before smiling at the unexpected taste - she was expecting something weird, something magical, but instead it was chocolate. Good old chocolate. She took another bite, hoping she wouldn't get a sugar rush from all these sweets.
"I really doubt I'll ever get used to this. I never thought I'd become a witch. Never even dreamed of it." Miranda said with a sigh. "I mean.. there's movies and TV shows where they use all these fancy computer-generated special effects and all, but you know it can't be real since it's only television. This is entirely different..." She said, looking around the Great Hall at the floating candles and enchanted ceiling. "Don't tell me you've gotten it used to it though... You're what? Third year?" Miranda asked playfully with a soft laugh. "Are you from a Wizarding family?"
After Xavier described the witch in the card to her, Miranda nodded. That was essentially the story she learned. But he used the term Transfiguring... what was that? She recalled stumbling upon that word several times - it was a subject at Hogwarts. Did that mean she was going to get to 'transfigure' people into pigs like Circe? She had a few choice people in mind already, but decided not to ask Xavier in fear of making herself look like a complete idiot. "Here, take it." She said to him, smiling. "I really don't have a use for it... it would get lost in my bag anyways, but if you've got a collection then you should keep it."

♫Sixth Year♪Prefect♫Captain♪Werewolf♫Chaser♪Gryffindor♫ Ⓡⓔⓜⓨ sniffled, looking at the younger girl. She had to be brave, didn't she? Just for a little while longer, then she could imbibe the Dreamless Sleep potion that she had stashed in her trunk. Just... had to survive dinner. "I'm.... I'm okay. I'll live. Just.... gotta... not think... anymore." She gave a small nod, eyes still huge with her obvious terror in the matter. Her mind scrambled, searching for any other topic they could discuss. Anything? Anything?! "Erm... T-Terren got sorted... H-Hufflepuff...." She scratched at her neck, eyes darting. Gold eyes rolled to the ceiling, looking out at the stars. Subtle, near unnoticeable movements and the teen's hand slipped into her pocket. Nimble fingers felt the vials stashed in said pocket, a soft clinking coming from the glass containers. She stored each type of potion in a different sort of vial, and, this one in particular, was in a delicate, curved bottle. A soft sigh came from her lips, glad she had found the potion. After a summer of practice, she had finally perfected a few of her NEWT level potions. Why? Sheer boredom, of course. The one she was currently worried over, however, was the Draught of Peace. Maybe it could calm her pounding heart?

• Nam et ipsa scientia potestas est. • Miranda had been so busy chatting with Xavier and nibbling on the sweets on the table that she nearly forgot about the other first years around her. When she overheard Ronna talking to Crash about the staff table, the girl slipped a quick glance over just in time to see a few of the professors carrying another professor out. Miranda pursed her lips, confused at what was going on, but no one seemed to be too alarmed so she decided to brush it off as a minor problem.
Upon being asked about the sweets, Miranda considered for a moment. "Well, most of it is candyish.. this cauldron cake is a chocolate pastry.. I haven't tried the pumpkin pasties though, maybe those aren't that sweet?" She replied, pointing to one of the round, orange pastry that she assumed would be pumpkin flavored. "Do you not like sweets or something?" She asked before taking another bite out of her cauldron cake. These things were addictive... but Miranda had to watch what she ate - she didn't want to spontaneously gain weight over the school year and have to buy a whole new wardrobe for next year.

Do you really wanna be like them?
Do you really wanna be another trend?
Do you wanna be part of that crowd?
Luke cocked an eyebrow at... Yvette? Honestly, he didn't care for her. She had decided to try and knock his wand out of his hand the first Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson. Deciding that he should say something, he smirked. "You know, if you payed any attention at all to the games, you would realize that he's a beater for Gryffindor. Even I know that, and I practically hate this house. Don't you have any house pride?" Okay, so maybe being cold and callous toward the girl wasn't conducive to his health, but he'd had enough of self-righteous arses over the summer. If anything, he was determined to make sure that none of the others in his family got the same treatment as he did. Though letting Steffi at his 'uncle' cuased him to chuckle. That would be humorous.
Looking over to Tevye, he shrugged. He didn't understand why girls had to be so... weird. Steffi had been acting weird, and it... He blocked that thought from his mind and smiled. No mischievous grin, no smirk, a smile. "So, you haven't been on a broom in a while? Ouch. Hope that doesn't hurt your chances at the team this year. You should be fine. At least you're not an arrogant prat like some other beaters in the school."

Luke couldn't place it, but he almost felt like he was enjoying the conversation. For someone that vowed that he didn't belong here, it made him feel... Accepted? No, that wasn't the right word, but he wasn't sure what was at the moment. Odd. "Trust me, I've heard about arrogant players from my brother. He's a beater for his house in Durmstrang, and he has to put up with a lot of people that think they're better than everyone. Thankfully, he's better than them, so he has no worries." He briefly wondered if Magni would chastise him for the way he acted most days in school, but shook his head. It was true that he had a hard time making friends due to his nature, but he couldn't help it.
When Tevye asked about why he hated Gryffindor so much, he paused. It was a well-known fact that he hated the house, and he made no secrets about it. But for someone to flat out ask him why was rare. They usually decided he was an arse and left it at that. "Honestly? I've never seen myself as fitting in the house. I mean everyone's brave and daring and honest in the house, and well, I'm just... not. I can't see myself just doing things selflessly, and I can't seem to tell a straight answer most days. Then everyone seems to attack me when I say the truth, and it just goes downhill from there. It's... probably easier just to assume everyone hates me and not try and make friends here. I just think that it saves me a lot of heartache when people decide they turn on me." That was probably the most honest he'd been with anyone in his house besides his best friend. He wondered if he was doomed just to get rejected.

Luke blinked. Well, that was an odd way of putting it. Maybe he was a bit touched, but honestly, it made him wonder. He glanced around the rest of the table, wondering if they thought that was why he was sorted there too, or if maybe they thought he was a massive prat. He could care less, but did that really count as bravery? He had to think on that. "Maybe. I'm still not quite convinced. Last year, I just said those things because it was true. You guys did need more experience on the team. Your teammate Drage thought otherwise, of course." He cringed, thinking of the fight he'd been in. He'd had his nose broken twice because of Drage, and he wasn't sure if he'd be friendly to the other third year or not. Then again, last year he did help him with an herbology assignment, so maybe.
Luke snorted when Tevye stated he'd be afraid of people hating him. Well, it was probably time to tell him a straight answer. "You shouldn't be. Truthfully, you shouldn't care what they think. If they don't like you, then they don't. No reason to get depressed over the event. I mean, the person that matters most is yourself. It's whether you can live with yourself that should matter. No one else should. If they hate you, then they're just not worth it." Mentally he wondered if he was speaking from experience, but shrugged it off. What did it matter if he was or not? It wasn't like he could change people's opinions of himself, and he cared more about whether he could live with himself if he did things. He then smirked. "'Ósnjallr maðr hyggsk munu ey lifa, ef hann við víg varask; en elli gefr hánum engi frið, þótt hánum geirar gefi.' Or, in English, The coward believes he will live forever if he holds back in the battle, but in old age he shall have no peace though spears have spared his limbs. Borson family motto. Basically, you shouldn't be afraid, and live life without regrets."
