Ahh, failure yet again! Dammit!!

I guess I may not have a badge for the convention tomorrow.

See, I even commissioned the artist 3 weeks ago, after I had made sure I'd have the weekend off at work. She didn't start on the badge until last week. Sent me a message last monday that she was done and wanted me to send cash by paypal.

So I ask her to send me a picture of what it looked like. It was partially my fault as I should have just sent the money and told her to mail it. I forgot to check tuesday, and wednesday she had sent a message saying she had not gotten the money. She also said she could scan them and I could print them out. Yet she still had not sent me a picture of the badge.

So I'm like "okay, I asked for a picture of the badges on monday to see what they looked like before I paypal'd the money, and she doesn't do it. WTF?" I sent the money, and told her it was okay for her to scan them in.

Today she says she sent it... even with priority mail it won't arrive by tomorrow. She still has NOT given me a photo of the badge, or scanned it in for me. Does this woman even bother to read her ******** mail? Did she not notice when I asked to see what the badge looked like before I paid? Did she not notice me saying that scanning it was fine, that I could print it out and use that for the convention?

So of course, I won't have the ******** badge by tomorrow. Refuses to show it to me before I pay for them, refused to scan them in like I asked in my last email to her. ********, why do I have to deal with the most stupid ******** artists...
Wow, bad etiquette on her part. I don't believe in not showing a commissioner their work.
Honestly, the best thing is to ask to see the sketch first for approval. Considering she hasn't showed it to you period, I'd be worried about a scam of some type. I know there are a few artists who pull that (Zeriara/Seux had a habit of it I believe) and never do the work or send it out

No, she sent a sketch. I just wanted a photograph or something of the final product... even one with a giant watermark on it would be nice.

She finally did send a scan of the badge, plus the extra drawing.

Still trying to figure out how to print this out...

The worst part is she forgot to fix things I told her to fix, even after sending her an image with red lines pointing out what needed to be fixed. See that little white point next to the eye of the upside down thing? I guess that's supposed to be his hair but she forgot to color it or something. Urggggg!!!!!

I mean, she's 18 I guess, probably still in high school, and dumb and naive and clumsy, but this pisses me off...

Awe sorry to hear you are having troubles. Always upsets me to see fellow artists screwing commissioners over whether it be for real cash or even just Gaia gold. =3

I could get a digital head shot badge done by tomorrow, but I doubt you would want to pay for another badge since you already purchased one. Have to say if I were buying, I would not be paying full price if the artist didn't meet a deadline they knew they needed. It would be like paying to have a wedding dress made only to get a dress the day after the wedding...

I could have told you to not commission Axiroth. She rarely finishes her commissions on time and does crappy work. I ordered a commission from her 2 years ago and never received it. Yeah, it was GG, so I don't really mind too much, but she cancelled it without saying anything then a few months ago she finally told me she never had any intention of finishing it and would not be refunding the gold.

Your like the nicest easiest going commissioner ever. If an artist can't do a piece properly for you than they have serious issues. >(

I'm still waiting on artists from years ago. There's only 2 that I've given up on and I don't think it does anything to send angry e-mails or be pissed off about it. I just make a mental note to not pay fully up front if I decide to commission them

And that is why I love you. You are like an artist's dream. Not only patient but you let the artists be themselves when they do commissions for you. You don't nit pick or try and change their style but give them the basic info you want and let them become inspired by your idea and follow their own interpretation of it. whee heart

Speaking of which, isn't it about time you commission me again? wink I got a new tablet a few days back that is longing for some usage. blaugh

I'm a mean commissioner, haha. I do some stuff with clients irl, and I always have to be nice and polite with them, even if they are annoying sons. So... when I do commissions on sites like these for money I actually don't need to keep a roof over my head, I'm pretty strict. XP

I draw in several styles, and once whoever it is picks one out, that style does not get modified. It's my style. If you don't like my style of drawing, then why the heck would you commission me? Then they get a chance to write as detailed a description as they want. One time. After that, I don't take any additions or subtractions. I'm pretty frank about the rules, and I usually don't have any trouble with it... I've never had someone not pay me or anything. I have had a few people get all demanding and everything on me when I won't accept late changes to the description, but I just drop those commissions and generally feel much better with one less derpwad in my life. biggrin

Oh, if only I could treat real life clients that way. sad But yeah, even with all the spiteful bitterness that my commission process is usually caked in (I also don't particularly like doing commissions... I only do it if I really need the gold for something, usually on WoW >>) I do always try to be professional in the delivery. Get it done on time and keep people updated on progress and especially drop status right away. Even if I don't want to deal with the person anymore, not telling them I'm not working on their art and just keeping them in waiting is too dickish for even me.

I typically don't refund initial payments if someone gets dropped in the description process, though, at least if I've already started on the commish. If I've already invested time and effort, I'll keep the half I get up front as payment for my wasted time. But if I haven't done any sketches and they haven't done too much to fill me with hate, then I'll give it back.

I just refuse commissions because I know I'd do a terrible job on them and take forever. I'd rather spare people the pain of my art. razz ...strange though, I get a lot of commission offers for my flash work. Probably because it's all pornographic. xD

I have a little bit since it's the Easter event. I've been using it to prop up rings that I haven't upgraded really. That whirlwindy ring (it's been a long time since I last played. xD) is soo awesome to taking out weak hordes of enemies all at once. It's kinda funny too. I still have stuff left over from last Easter, so now I got a ton of jelly beans and grass, but just barely enough chocolate for the pink bunny item thing.

And I admit, I've played around with my avatar a lot too since getting slightly back into ZOMG. whee

I got the 1k badge last year. This year I was going crazy trying to get all four of the different chicks. It would have been way easier to buy them, but I am so stingy about spending gold on something I know I can earn in an event for free.

Garek- It is annoying how skewed the drops are. They make the stupid chocolates drop the least and yet you need the most of those for the item... -____-

We really should all get together at one point though not sure how good a group is for egg hunting. Still would probably be fun. X3

Well anytime you see me on, just ask. I'll likely be in zomg anyway
