i am not Buddhist but my friends are.. what exactly do Buddhists worship?

Some Buddhists worship Buddhists Saints in which the divine Buddha Nature is present ( prayers, candles, incence), Other Buddhists simply pay respect to the relics and bones of the Historical Buddha Himself.
