Opinions and facts are different. What you stated was an opinion, not a fact. Disliking smoking is fine, as is disliking football. Calling either "stupid" is not.

I see no reason why I shouldn't state in the plainest terms how stupid it is to do something that slowly kills you and everyone else around you.

Seeing as death is a necessary end to life, i hardly see that as mattering. Smoking may make it more likely that you will die at a younger age, but so will getting into a car. So will not maintaining a proper diet with a regular exercise plan. Most people on the internet do not have a proper diet or exercise a proper amount. Is that "stupid"?

I think not. Each person has their own values. Who are you to decide which values are and are not stupid?

P.S. Interestingly enough, there is not a single statistically significant piece of evidence that shows second hand smoke is harmful. So let us leave that topic be.

I think that doing anything you know to be harmful to yourself is stupid. Getting in a car is completely different because you don't hurt yourself every time you do so. When you smoke, it damages your body every single time, so I do think that I can distinguish between the two and say what is stupid, as could any logical human being.

As for the 'death is a neccesary end' statement, if anyone is so anxious to die why not do it the easy way and but a bullet in their skull, rather than supporting a multi-billion dollar industry that make products that kill their clients.

Would you prefer i lie? There is no legitimate evidence to support the outlandish claims made about second-hand smoke. The Helsinki report has been shown to be a complete fraud, the EPA analysis has been discredited numerous times and the WHO was forced to release a faulty meta-analysis after it's widely heralded study showed absolutely no harmful affects.

The three most important pieces of evidence claiming second-hand smoke is dangerous can easily be shown to be flawed. You call my statement "crap" when you have never read an actual study on this subject.

I have. If you want to discuss the legitimacy of the studies, i would be glad to. But do not insult me and do not call me a liar. This is the place for neither. Typically speaking, when a person has to use the Holocaust as an example, they are on the losing side of the discussion.

Again you insult me by implying i am not a "logical human being." Would you please stop? It is childish and petty. In actuality, that comment is not really insulting, even though it clearly was meant to be. Human beings by nature are not logical beings, they simply use logic at times.

Driving cars causes you to breath in car fumes. Car fumes are unhealthy, ergo you hurt yourself every time you drive, if it matters to you.

First, i feel i should mention that you ignored the point about dieting and exercising. Seeing as you responded to the sentences immediately prior and after it, obviously you saw it. It is typically bad practice ignore parts of a persons post like that.

Second, how did my statement even remotely imply an anxiety for death? I said death is a necessary end to life. That is not suicidal, that is realistic. You just told every person who smokes to go kill themselves, so i think i am going to stop now before i say things that do not belong here. This is not a forum for bashing people, so can we both try to maintain civility?

Hm...well yes, I'd cut down. I've never gotten my tongue pierced because I'm afraid of infections and such. Also of the effects it might have on my speech.

My ex and his friend got theirs done not too long ago. It doesn't hurt too much, but it gets pretty sore afterwards. I saw two 18 year old whine for 3 days straight. Don't worry though, it goes away after that. Just eat soft food and keep popsicles handy- they help. No hot (anything room temperature and below is good) or spicey foods. Smoking won't hurt, you just need to clean after every meal, drink, and cigarette. It probably will swell, but it goes away.

I want mine done eventually, but seeing those two guys whine so bad makes me have second thoughts. XD
