Anyone ever read the book Anthem by Ayn Rand? I pilfered...borrowed without permission...but with every intention of returning!.... found it in my school's library.
It's an older book, but the story is short and to the point. (Sorta.) It really makes you think about what people in society would do for a little bit of security, and what's really cool about it is that it has an entirely different view of the human ego and how it's necessary. (As opposed to the usual: Humans are greedy and selfish and will always put themselves first blah blah blah...)
Sadly, I judged it by it's cover the first few times I saw it. sweatdrop But once I read the blurb on the back it seemed wicked cool. I've only read the American version, tho (Ayn edited it herself because she wanted to improve on her original publication), but the original English version is supposed to be longer.
So, anyone else heard of it, or am I just rambling?

Yup, great book. I think it's one of the few distopian novels out there with a happy ending and I love the Greek mythology at the end.
