You go to "My Account" under "My Gaia" and there's a link in blue at the top of the first "Preferences" page, click on it, and you can change all sorts of things, including gender, username, avatar, etc.

yeah, thats a great name. if you really want to change it then you should and keep a mule with that name so you don't lose it.
