Ok, I have ripped my DVDs, I do have to compress my footage before I can use it simply because I do not have the hard drive space, but I have also de-interlaced my footage but the footage just doesn't look right. like there is a constant wind effect on the footage. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

It almost sounds like you're compressing it in the wrong format or something. *not totally sure*

I am using the Virtualdub that comes with the AMVapp. I am compressing with lagarith.

Lagarith is you problem. And I hardly call that compression.
If you need a good cross platform codec, I have used allot of generalized MPEG2 for my Mac and PC editing. It's not small, but it is almost universal. Once the other comp is back up I'll make a guide to MPEG2.

I use MPEG-VCR to "convert" the Vobs to Mpeg2 directly. Since .vob is just an Mpeg2 format it basically just renames the file to a format that's acceptable to most editing programs. Theres next to zero compression, thats if any at all, but completely lossless. 3nodding
It's nice for those of us that use multiple programs, but not frame accurate by any stretch of the imagination. sweatdrop
