.:: KAMAU GWANDOYA ::.

Brother of Nyana & Fira

Name: Kamau Gwandoya
Meaning: a quiet warrior is met with misery
Nickname: Kamau, Kay, & Doya

Pride: Aali'makabila

Parents: unknown
Siblings: Nyana & Fira

Mate: na
Offspring: na

Appearance: green fur with a matching dark green mane and tail, yellow eyes, light green underbelly and maw, also bears three dark stripes on his back
Personality: Somewhat similar to his namesake, Kamau is a quiet lion that has little affection for those around him; he is cold of heart and often apathetic towards the plight of others.

History: Upon finally being old enough to strike out on his own, Kamau left his siblings (having possessed little reason to remain after being more or less abandoned by them,) to explore the lands and become a strong and independent lion that would never need to call on others for help. During his journey, Kamau met, hunted, and surveyed many a strange creature

It is only recently that Kamau was recruited for a growing pride, nothing exciting in and of itself, until it is revealed that two of his fellow pride members are none other than Nyana and Fira.

The tribe is most promising, an idle thought as he crossed his forepaws and exhaled a breath. As well as the collective pride- however, the sisters... Eyes narrowing in displeasure, Kamau cast his eyes to the night sky from where he lay atop the tallest hill in the area. His decision was quite clear- decline the invitation to the tribe and continue on his endless journey and hope to never run across his bloodkin again.

A low growl seeped from between his lips; rolling over he turned his hateful glare from the stars to the grass.

Of course such an obvious answer to a most deplorable situation was not open to him. He would accept and become a valuable member of the pride, no matter his reservations. Because the pathetic facts of it all was that he was beyond tired of wondering about the earth with no territory, pride, or family with which to call his own. In spite of all the things he learned from his travels, he could not rid himself of the desire for a home. It was maddening, this deep yearning for something he should hold little care nor value for.

Kamau snapped at nearby cricket, deriving small pleasure from knicking the tiny, insignificant creature's hindlegs. He watched the pathetic insect kick, chirp, and flail helplessy between blades of dry grass- all too entertained by the sight and sounds it made in it's misery. He toyed with the thought of killing it mercifully instead of letting it slowly die.

A thought he dismissed as soon as it was born, after all, misery loved company.

With the cricket's dying chirps playing a soft tune amidst the dark night, Kamau turned his attentions inward and recalled the day's earlier events that had led him to such a restless night...

Kamau Gwandoya had followed the white and black lion, Zaliwa, through a stretch of small plains in the early morning sun; his thoughts were naturally elsewhere as he'd followed the bigger lion to acquaint himself with the other two potential pride members if he decided to join their slowly forming group. So it was of little surprise that a certain number of things did not immediately register within his mind when spotting two green lionesses idly conversing with one another as they drew closer.

The one on the right had a fairly plain green pelt with few markings while the one on the left possessed lighter and darker sections of fur; Kamau gave their physical appearance little attention, not liking the strange sensation it gave his most precious internal organ. He likened it to the feeling of another lion tearing through his ribcage to crush his wildly beating heart between large jaws. Thankfully it was an abrupt and fleeting sensation, otherwise he might have worried.

"This is Fira," Zaliwa introduced, motioning his large head towards the female on the left, "-and her sister Nyana, the other pridemembers I told you about." he finished, voice clipped.

"K-Kamau?" Nyana questioned, "Little cub Kamau Gwandoya?" she finished, eyes wide and clearly surprised as she padded a few steps forward to inspect the fellow feline.

He was frowning and could feel the fur on his neck and along his spine threaten to rise as a growl formed at the back of his throat. Kamau forced it back and rolled his shoulders while raising his head up to better stare down at the two females.

Simply put, he didn't like where this was going, not at all- he could practically feel the foreboding sensations bleed into his bones.

"Brother?" Fira spoke after a moment's study, voice soft and cool, "It's been many years."

Regarding the pair in silence, Kamau found himself unable to deny the obvious truth, after so many years- (years that should have long-since erased the memories of his cubhood,) he could tell that these were his elder sisters. They bore his colors, carried the familiar markings, and from what he could recall, their voices even sounded the same as they had all those years ago.

Such thoughts gave him no comfort nor reason to rejoice at the unexpected reunion. If anything, they left a bitter taste in his mouth, brought a snarl to his lips, tempted the fur on his body to rise in threat, and stung his cold heart with a pain he could little stand.

"An unfortunate mistake." Kamau spoke in reference to their sudden reunion; the slightest growl tinging his words.

Judging from Nyana's shocked and slightly hurt expression at his cold words; the lioness had undoubtedly been recalling the happier times spent with her brother so long ago. For that, she would find herself gravely mistaken, for there had been no pleasant experiences back then. Not from where Kamau had stood.

Turning his back on the pair, Kamau approached Zaliwa and motioned for the larger lion to follow him a short distance away for a moment's privacy. The white lion obeyed, if only for the moment and with a considerable amount of reserve.

"You did not mention the other members were both female and bore similar colors." he murmured, careful to keep the ire from his voice. He had no quarrel or reason to fight this lion, so he would tread with a certain level of care.

"I did not find it relevent." the other male returned blithely, a vague shrug of his stiff shoulders proving how little Kamau's situation mattered to him.

Biting down on a snapish retort, Kamau closed his eyes and took a few slow measured breaths before returning his attentions to the bigger feline.

"Perhaps you should have," Kamau said, keeping his voice low, "-for they alone turn me against the very idea of joining this tribe."

Zaliwa's form stiffened as his eyes met with Kamau's.

"I do not care for your personal troubles, either you join or you do not." he stated, turning around to make his way back to Nyana and Fira's waiting forms. After walking a few paces away, Zaliwa paused to turn his head back to where Kamau stood, "You've till sunrise to come to a decision."

He recalled digging his claws into the earth and roaring to the heavens in his rage at the unexpected turn of events. Only after all three felines had left the area, of course. It would do him little good for them to witness a brief, emotional lapse in his control. Kamau did not enjoy his current predicament, nevermind his future prospects when he joined the tribe and had to suffer being in the same pride as his bloodkin.

The cricket was still alive, but only just- a slew of ants had come to feast on the soon-to-be carcass.

Kamau could only hope that he would not have to spend time within their company. But he held little faith in such a thing, not when it came to his luck and the unlikelihood of not having to ever interact with his elder sisters while within the pride and tribe.

A single, dying chirp of the insect at his paws faded into the night.

Lowering his head onto his crossed forearms, Kamau watched the vast number of ants swarm over the tiny corpse; he distantly wondered if his life would soon mirror that of the lowly insect. To be abruptly crippled then left to slowly die until scavengers came to eat him alive. Oddly enough, the thought filled him with a strange exhiliration that quickened his breath and brightened his eyes.

If such were to be the case, then he'd be sure to give his dear sisters hell before he was brought down, for he was not the weak little cub they once believed to know...
