Born as a princess but apprenticed to a harsh taskmaster, Mia quickly learned that a haughty attitude and a lazy work ethic got you nowhere fast. Nowhere being either at her father's feet being lectured, or out on meaningless errands and tasks for the pride's Shaman, Shira. So from a young age Mia was forced to rely only on her own wits and abilities, relinquishing any luxuries that her position might have afforded her.
Despite the hard work and training she goes through, Mia is a good apprentice and does every task to the best of her ability. One mantra has been beaten into her since the day she was born - "do everything for the good of the pride". And so though she might detest a task or struggle for hours to complete her errand, Mia does it without a word of complaint (to Daddy or Shira, anyways!). Overall, Mia is a trustworthy, stolid individual with what seems to be a bright future.

As her name suggests, Tumaini is about as confident as they come! She isn't afraid to stand up for herself or her breed, and she certainly won't back down from a fight! It isn't rare for her to come home with more than a few scrapes and bruises, either from accepting a dare or getting into a tussle with a sibling or friend.
Though Maia can hold her own in a fair fight, she REALLY gets her game on when it comes to verbal debates. Clever and eager to learn, Maia enjoys nothing more than using her knowledge to defeat or undo those who think brawn is far far better than brains. When she isn't getting into scraps or climbing the tallest tree in the forest, she's trying to figure out just HOW that tree got so tall! To some of her siblings and her friends she might come off as a know it all brat, but she doesn't mind too much - it's just another kind of game!

In two words - completely reckless. Kijani (or 'Jani for short) takes extreme risks and plays pranks purely for the attention it grants. Mind you, this isn't due to any lack of attention on his parents or siblings' part, but merely because he fears that he'll be forgotten and ostracized by default due to his inability to hear the non-animal muses.
Underneath this 'dare-devil' shell, Kijani is VERY lacking in confidence and self-esteem. He doesn't believe that anything is wrong with his pride - rather, quite the opposite, he adores it - but he DOES think there is something wrong with him.

His parents, in their infinite parenteral wisdom, were concerned when their cub not only exhibited an overly enthusiastic penchant for trouble but also a strange ability to talk his way out of every tight situation. So he earned the nickname Kero, a name he took to heart and eventually as his real name. Gifted with a silver tongue, Kero has rarely had to fight, relying on his skill to keep himself out of harm's way. However, this can be difficult, as Kero has a tendency to wonder just WHAT was making all those terrible noises over there, or who had managed to kill the hyena he saw back the other way, or why that leopard pair was skulking around that stream near the grove of acacia trees... Though certainly not a coward, Kero isn't against an occasional sprint... in the opposite direction of danger.
Kero tends to come off as rather light-hearted, unwilling to make an issue of anything that doesn't currently affect him. If he can't change it, why worry about it? He often jokes, loves to flirt and tease, and isn't against the occasional fling (assuming no cubs result). Though old enough to be considered an adult, Kero doesn't always act like one, and therefore loves to spend time with the cubs of the House. Despite his carefree nature, Kero can be serious, and will become deadly so if anyone he loves or is responsible for is threatened.

Personality:
She's a hard-headed, opinionated girl who has to learn everything the tough way. She hates to fail - something that can make her a little timid when it comes to learning new things. She is a very hard trier, although she likes to pretend that she doesn't care (especially when she loses or fails, in which case whatever she was doing was "stupid anyways"). Despite her demeanor, her confidence is easily shaken, and she yearns for the approval and admiration of her family and pride. Quick to take offense, she sees insults where there are none and has a hard time dealing with criticism. However, as quick as her temper is to spark to flame, it's just as quick to die, and she rarely holds a grudge.
Side note - as she grows older I'd like her to learn how to grow a thicker skin, take criticisms, fail with grace, and be confident in who she is standing alone at the end of the day.
