Lying in the pond, underneath the sky

The water is calm as I look up at the sky,
It's hard to see but I get by.
I wish I could touch it now
Then I think "How?"

Silly me to think I should be allowed above,
They say it's only children's love.
This, what I have, is not that.
It's like I'm a floor mat.

Everyone says I should leave him
But I can't when I love him.
He treats me nice and kind
Even though he sometimes leaves me behind.

I just sit and wait for him to come back.
When he does I wait for the whack.
Sometimes it comes to my cheek,
Sometimes it's just words like "freak."

I notice the water is no longer graceful,
It's no longer peaceful.
This might be what they're talking about
But I can only gaze with doubt.

[Okay people no worries about this poem. I am not going through this. My boyfriend does not hit me or call me names as such. This poem does not really even imply beating someone. What it's about is feeling trapped when in love. I get that way sometimes but I pull out of the pond to breathe and watch the sky.]

I think that is very well-written! I can't even rhyme to save my life!! Some minor problems, but other then that, great job! Keep writing poetry, you write it very well!
