The tiny cub had managed to wander away from both her patient mother and less patient babysitter. Snickering to herself, Palia made a face as she glanced back behind her to make sure Wally wasn't following her.
"Ha! Stupid Wally!" She said gleefully. Apparently it hadn't occured to her that the darker lioness might have PURPOSELY let her wander off, given how irritating she could be.
Still, being free of any bossy adults was new to the small cub, and she fully intended to take advantage of it! The question was... how?

Malik lumbered forward with his ears pressed back against his equally firey mane. Rehema decided it was time to work on his hunting. With only the three of them living in the shadow clan's lands, everyone had to pitch in a bit more than if they were in a larger pride. However, even considering returning to the pridelands left a bad taste in both his and his female companion's mouth. The place was over-crowded. No one knew anyone else, there were cubs everywhere to step on, and in time it would mean there'd be less prey. There was strength in numbers but like anything else- too much of a good thing often led down the other way.
"My huntin' skills 'r just fine." He grumbled, glancing over to the chocolate lioness who walked smoothly just at his side. She was much smaller than him, being composed mainly of rogue blood, but she was still no slouch at hunting or fighting. Malik, on the other hand, was a handsome combonation of both royal lines of the pridelands and the firekin. While not as tall as a firekin, he was larger than a pridelander. He had both the firekin's bulk and the bulk of Mufasa's family line, having been his nephew. Not one the king favored, but one none the less.
"Stop your whining." Rehema snapped, giving a warning glare over to the golden male. "I've taken Ona out almost every day since we've arrived while you sat back and licked your paws."
Malik rolled his eyes, "I went huntin' myself."
"Yourself and with someone else are two very-" She paused, crouching down to the ground. She scented something else. Someone else...a lion. Perhaps more of the clan members. She couldn't be too careful.
Malik noted her reaction and growled a bit, lowering his head in between his shoulders as he looked forward.

Palia sniffed and looked round as the two companions' voices reached her ears. She was anxious to meet more members of the pride here, having only met Wally (stupid Wally!), and was unfortunately not a very cautious creature.
Putting on her most brave face (which was a rather comical scowl), the pale cub bounded towards the two larger lions. "HALT!" She shouted in her tiny voice. "Who goes there!" She puffed her chest out and did her best to look imposing.
Her best was not really enough, to put it lightly. She looked 99% ridiculous and 1% insane.

Rehema was highly amused by the cub's boldness. She slowly sat herself up but continued to glance past the cub for a moment. Where a cub was, a mother was nearby. She knew better to let her guard down. After a moment she dropped her pink eyes down to the little cub, smirking a bit. "Ahh... looks like we've bumped into a little huntress."
"Little's right." Malik laughed, a thick, deep voice similar, but not horribly so, to his uncle's. "Well lookit you thinkin' yer on guard duty or somethin'." He grinned, very tempted to tease the cub a bit.

Palia huffed a bit, looking affronted by their lack of fear. "I'm not THAT little!" she protested, scowling up at Malik. Of course, she didn't know anyone who was *smaller* than she was, but that was beside the point!
Still, Rehema had called her a huntress, which soothed her ego somewhat. She glanced smugly at the older lioness. "Naw, I was just tryin' to scare you." She said casually, trying to act cool. "I'm not *really* a guard, don't worry."
She wrinkled her nose at them thoughtfully. Malik had a marking on his shoulder, but other than that they weren't tattoo'd at all. "Are you Ela?" she inquired nosily.

Rehema got to her paws, walking herself closer to the cub, "Well you're going about it all wrong... acting like a boy. Boys are great for scaring people but what if we were bad lions? Or worse... what if we were hyenas?" She reasoned. "A smart huntress would hide herself and watch the enemy first... then if you are able to deal with them yourself, you scare them."
"Hey!" Malik cut in, "Ain't nuffin' wrong wit' th' way I do things." Of course he was a brute, but that was beside the point, "Ya do gotta be careful though. I bet'cha a bird could up an' take ya off if it wanted tah."
The second question got a laugh out of Malik, "Kiddo, do I look like one of dem puny lions? I ain't from 'round 'ere."

Palia frowned, mulling Rehema's logic over in her head. She'd never met a boy before, though she supposed Malik was one, now that she thought of it. Rehema was cunning and clever, but Palia wasn't a huge fan of clever. Wally was clever, and Palia resented her for it. Truth be told, the little while cub probably did have more in common with the large Pridelander than his companion.
"Maybe," she said, noncommittally, looking back to Malik and wrinkling her nose. "Nuh uh! I've never seen any birds bigger than *me*." she argued, lifting her head proudly once more. The fact that just because she'd never seen any didn't mean they didn't exist apparently hadn't occurred to her.
"I dunno. I've only met Wally. She's puny, but maybe that's just her." Palia reasoned. "Anyway I was just askin'. I'm not, but mama says we're gonna join soon..." she trailed off thoughtfully. "Which is pretty cool cos Wally's got pretty tattoos." she made a face. Though they weren't exactly the best of friends, Palia certainly held some respect for the dark lioness, and was obviously a little bit jealous of her.

"Well, Malik's right. Eagles are bit bigger than a cub." Rehema explained, stretching out one of her legs, "One of their wings is even longer than my paw here. Definitely something you should be aware of. When you're older those kind of things won't dare bother you."
"Wally." Malik shook his head a bit, "Ain't never met no one wif dat name. Didn't Ona mention other kinda Ela...ma...wahtever they're called here?" He paused to earn a nod from Rehema, "Ahh so not jus' one clan. I got'cha. Kinda weird folk. Little lions up here paintin' all over themselves. Doesn't seem natural."
