Kabili paused in his movement to ponder her words. They were true and something about the forest made him feel at home but also like a trapped bird in a cage, a thought he did not like. It also made him think of the small but obvious ways the forest had changed him. He wasn't always so devious and in a way cruel.
Her next string of words brought him back to focus. "Right....this way." he told her turning to his right and padding through the grasses and over a couple of upturned roots. His white tail waved back and forth occasionally as he once again lost himself in thought, almost tripping and plunging straight into the water that had finally revealed itself.

The cub was really spaced out. Hai observed, as he seemed to pay no real attention to his surroundings. She was almost worried that he would lead them astry, but the sight and smell of water soon overtook her senses. The cub almost stumbled into the water, Hai willingly leapt into it with a fervor.
Almost completely immersing her head, Hai drew in great draughts of the liquid bliss, banishing the sand and dust from her throat while the current drew the dust from her coat.
When she finally emerged from the water, feeling a contented slosh in her stomach, she was completely and thoroughly soaked. With a groan of contentment, she sagged to the ground, giving her feet a much deserved rest.
"Thanks, kid. I really needed that." she mumbled through water drenched fur.

Her leap into the water brought up a splash of water, the droplets landing on his face breaking him out of his daze. Shaking his head eyes wide with bewilderment he looked at the deathly looking female before slowly nodding. "Ah..sure...you're welcome..." he mumbled quietly backing up and nodding his head.
"If you don't mind I'll be taking my leave....I have a lot on my mind and well..." he trailed off not really sure how to finish or rather not wanting to finish.

Hai was fixing to sleep right on the bank, soaked fur and all. At the cub's mumbled reply, she opened one eye, and looked searchingly at the cub. His earlier impudence still stung, but more like a mosquito's sting, easy to ignore.
She shrugged tiredly.
"Well, if you have to go, you have to go. I don't mind." she said, eye beginning to close, and almost doing so before it snapped open again. She fixed a stare on him that wasn't unkind, and advised, "Whatever it is that is eating you, talking tends to help. Talk to your pride, a friend, or your family, and I mean talk, not insult."
She smirked and rolled onto her side, the better to catch the warming sun, and slid off to sleep.

The cub let out a dry laugh. "That's easy for you, you don't have a family that constantly keeps things from you, is making you leave a place you're finally getting used to, resuluting in you losing your best and only friend who could possibly up and die with how thin she is! And and..." he spoke rashly and angrily at the female before finally calming down anger suddenly drained. "I don't want to have to be watched like my brother. I don't want to. I don't want to leave either but some times things are just completely out of your control just as these are out of mine."
He spat to the side turning away and trotting off. "They wouldn't understand anyway." he told the female with slight disgust. He flicked his tail and was off disappearing into shadows of the surrounding trees.

After the cub had left, Hai lifted her head to look in the direction he had gone. Something seemed to stir deep within the pale orbs, and after a second, she sighed, and put her head back onto her paws.
"You'd be surprised how much I envy you."
Finish!
