The sun was high in the sky and the dark male lay in the shade of the jungle. His dark fur absorbed the heat like nothing else, but here on the edges of the bhari lands, where the seas cool breeze rolled over his fur and flowed through his dence mane he was cool.
He had left his mate to rest on the heat of the sands. Khepri seemd to be cold blooded to him sometimes, she was more adept at living upon the heated sands of the desert, where as he, well he was used to the seas harsh breezes, plus he was exceedingly fluffy. Shaking his dark mane he gave a yawn and stretched out his huge dark paws. It was nearly time for him to get a move on and do some hunting.
Rolling his thick shoulders he looked to the sky, it was still too hot to go in search of prey, so crossing his forepaws he smiled and gazed out at the sea, dreaming of the future and what was in it.

Kamaria had crossed a difficult part of her life in which she was hurt and scared. She had been fooled by her mother and was learning to trust again. As though the Gods knew that she was undeserving of such actions, she was thrown into the lives of two pleasant lions in which she took as travelling companions. There was no leader of their group, the three simply travelled with one another, each seeking for some missing aspect of their life.
Approaching the coast, Kamaria grinned broadly towards the red colored female behind her. As they had travelled with one another, they were able to converse and become of much less awkward terms. Though Kamaria had always been a single cub, it seemed so easy to open up to the other female. Perhaps travelling solely with a male was beginning to tax Kamaria.
"This is where I spent a good couple weeks of my travels..." Kamaria never spoke of the attack in great detail, but her two companions knew that she once looked for the mistweaver's and failed in finding them. What she found was the reason she lost a part of herself.
But smiling still, Kamaria continued, "It is such a beautiful place.. Roho isn't such a fan... He says it's too sticky.."

It was different, traveling with someone, as well as having a direction. Not once did she ask where they were going, it didn't matter to her. There was a smile on her spirit by just having a place to go.
Learning more about interacting socially was nice. It took her a night to get used to being able to sleep through the night without worrying about being jolted up by being attacked. Overall, she was the happiest she had ever been, getting to know the other lions. She gravitated closer to Kamaria, feeling more comfortable with the lioness. However, she was enjoying being around both of them.
Her ears perked when Kamaria spoke, purple eyes gravitating towards the other lioness. Talk of her travels was always interesting, you can find out a lot about someone from where they had been. "The biggest amount of water I have ever been near were watering holes, the salty breeze is nice." It was exciting to get to experience these new surroundings. Without the negative experiences, she had the extra bounce to her trot eager to see what she scented. Caught up in her excitement, she missed all signs that there was other lions around. She had let her self relax a lot.

The sound of voices permiated his ears and the large dark male stood. Not too long ago he had been assigned a task by the king himself, that task was to protect. These voices were not familiar, and he did not recognise the scents either. It seemed it was two lionesses approaching over the dunes. Standing he stretched out his large body and padded from beneath the protecting canopy to find out whom approached. That was his job after all.
In a standing possition, Nahodha'kota was a huge lion, coupled with his extra fluffy mane he was a formidable looking beast, jet black bar for a large strip of white which ran from his chin to his forehead, dyeing his nose the palest white.
Upon catching sight of the two lionesses at last, the dark male spoke in a rough, though exceedingly friendly manner. "Ahoy thar!" he shouts, his voice a great booming roar of a thing, clearly, he was used using those great lungs to greet others. "A welcome to ye lassys." His voice lowered as he approached them, standing a fair distance, for although he was the friendliest of beasts, he knew his apperance could be some what un-nerving.

Although Senatla and Roho were very new to one another, Kamaria felt as though the red colored female walking beside her was opening up slightly. It would obviously take time to truly trust one another, but the simple prospect of trust was enough to keep Kamaria inspired. She had never had someone in which she could share her dreams with. To return to the ocean pride just once before leaving with company was a wonderful experience. Kamaria hoped that this new, more pleasant memories could overide the pain in her past.
When Senatla commented that she enjoyed the salty atmosphere, Kamaria smirked. If only she could convince Roho that this was a home to consider. For the moment, however, the leopard marked lioness was more than eager to consider other options, especially with such bad memories still lingering.
"Oh lookit thi-" Kamaria was about to begin when she heard someone approaching. She had let her guard down in Senatla's company and her fur stood on end. Could it have been a rogue on the attack? Kamaria's purple eyes went wide in an instant fear. She could only react, unable to cover any responses from her new friend. To Kamaria's dismay, when she was able to catch site of the lion, he was massive and male! Kamaria took a few steps back when a gentle and rather amusing voice came from Kota's throat.
Releasing a quick sigh, Kamaria remained alert and cautious. By the way he spoke and the soft curls of his fur, the lioness could only assume that he was more than a visitor in those lands, "H-hello. We don't mean to trespass!"

Senatla looked around, enjoying the new surroundings in a carefree manner. Her traveling companions were nice, even she was still withdrawn from them. This was all too new; however, she was learning day by day, step by step that she could trust them more and really be a part of this small surrogate family.
With Kamaria speaking, her attention was starting to turn back to the spotted lioness. Upon seeing the larger unknown male, she began to stand on high alert. Claws came out of their sheaths and she moved up to protect Kamaria. How could she be so stupid, Senatla scolded herself, to let her guard down like that? Someone had to have it and it should have been her, even in a group they were not completely safe. With a large male like this guy, Roho would be the only one that would stand a true chance against him, not that she wouldn't try if it meant saving her friend from harm or worse, slavery. After all, she knew nothing about the lands they had wondered into, they might be worse than the firekin.
Just listening to the male speak she knew two things, he talked strange, and he didn't seem like he wanted trouble. Pulling her claws back in, she strengthen up her posture and tired to keep up the friendly nature of the conversation, no need to start a fight that wasn't there in the beginning. "Greetings," She called, less skittish now that someone else was with her. Kamaria asked the important question so she wasn't going to repeat her. Instead, she waited to hear what the male would say.

The jet black male smiled lightly, he didn't mean to frighten anyone, though it was part of his job to look big and protective. "Don' ye worry none lassys ye ain't tresspassin' per'se." He paused for a moment looking between the two females one after the other, they didn't look to be a threat, there was no reason not to allow them on to the bach. "Tha names Nahodha'kota, most folks jus' be a callin' me 'kota tho, tis less of a mouthful." He winked cheerily flickering his long thick tail.
"Be ye jus' passin' thru ladies? ye be on tha borders 'o' tha Bhari'mtoto, an' you'll scuse tha security messures lassies, thar be lil' cubs in tha lan's, can't be too careful thar be folks ou' thar that will steal liluns fer gods only knows wha' reasons." he grunted a little, he didn't need to explain his actions, but the kind heart which beat in his chest demanded it. He knew the two females did not look like cub nappers, but his father always said appearances could be deceiving.
This was a truth in himself and his mate, he was huge, with a great fluffy mane and jet black fur, a beast of formidable looking stature and his mate, equally large and with the blood red fur of the firekin, yet despite their looks, they were both the friendliest of creatures.

As both Senatla and the male continued to speak, Kamaria began to regain herself now that she was aware of her surroundings. She realised that Senatla had moved in front of her as though to protect her. Kamaria's ears lowered, but not from sadness. She found it incredibly comforting to know that her friend was already willing to put herself before the male in order to offer protection. Was it because Kamaria was still healing? Would Kamaria have done the same if the situation were turned?
As The male offered his name and a friendly wink, Kamaria found her cheeks flush pink. It was both from the wink, as well as embarassment from being taken by such great surprise. Releasing a sigh, Kamaria's body returned to its normal posture as she realised that Kota meant no harm.
As Kota questioned them, Kamaria nodded slowly. "Yes.. I was staying closer towards the border some time ago and fell in love with the scenery. You have a beautiful home." Although Kamaria was not quick to trust, or open up, Kota had explained and been honest with them and Kamaria had felt as though she owed him that at least.

Senatla withdrew her claws and relaxed, pulling back a bit and working on that looking more friendly trick. She wasn't worried too much anymore, he seemed friendly and wasn't angry at them. Listing to what he said, she was confused but angry that someone would even consider stealing a cub, it sounded like a worse crime then fighting within a pride. She ran away, but it was her choice, to take that choice away is just a crime.
Her eyes turned to Kumaria, looking for a cue from her. She was beginning to do that more because finally had someone to show her how to act so she was careful to try and always watch and learned.
When Kumaria spoke, she thought on it and responded to the lion, "I understand your caution with newcomers, it is very wise. I am new here, getting my first look at an ocean, it is awe inspiring." Her eyes were between the two, looking for response to see if she was acting right or not, still plagued by a bit of the left over cubby ignorance and now added with the adult awareness. Can't get away with acting like a fool as an adult, after all.

"Aye lassies she be a mighty pretty sight fer the unknowin' eyes. Ye have ta be a careful near tha swell though, what be a lookin like a nice gentle wave can turn ta disaster and sen' ye ta davey jones." The big male gave a gentle nod glad of their understanding of his situation. He had been assigned to protect this beach and he would protect it with his life if necessary.
"Tha main dens roun' ere lassies are up in tha cliffs by tha jungle over hang. ye be a steerin' clear 'o' them, less ye be a stayin, in which case ah can 'troduce ye ta tha king 'o these ere lands." He gave a gruff sound in his throat then. "Other wise ye be welcome fer tha time lassies. Tho Ah'll be a keepin a sharp eye on yas. Me ol' man always said 'keep yer eyes peeled fer new comers. I aint a cautious beast ladies but them cubs be my blood 'swell as tha prides an I aint takin no chances til I be a knowin yas better."
He smiled cheerfully, he hated to sound stern but it was necessary. "Feel free ta lay in tha sands lassies and splash in tha sea an' give me a call if ye be wantin' ta greet tha king." Raising a slender brow he waited for a moment longer before he padded off down the beach to retake his place amongst the rocks. He felt rather cantankerous speaking to the two females in such a formal manner. But it was his job to protect this place and protect it he would.

When Senatla spoke, Kamaria looked over and smiled at her friend. The lioness did not know how much Senatla used her guidance, but she simply wished to offer comfort in the strange situation. They were both new to company and they had come to a stranger’s lands and been caught. This was not entirely what they expected.
As Kota offered advice about the waves, Kamaria smiled again. She enjoyed learning and this was no exception. Her brow cocked at the mentioning of ‘davy jones’, but she felt it better not to bother asking. By the look of the sun in the distance, the two had been gone for a good couple hours and Roho would have certainly been worried by then.
The dedication and pride Kota spoke with was inspiring to Kamaria. He had a deep connection with his pride and took his position very seriously. The lioness was weak for the ocean pride, thankful for its shelter and appreciative of the beauty if had to offer. Since she had met Roho and Senatla, however, she had given up her selfishness and was learning that she could learn to love any pride if her companions chose to remain with her as well. “I appreciate your offer, but we’ll be on our way rather soon. We simply wished to learn more and visit the pride before continuing. If we return here, I’ll take you up on your offer. I am sure the King and Queen of the pride are wonderful lions..”
Before Kota could be too far, Kamaria quickly added. “Do you mind if I take a couple shells in memory?”

She took great comfort in the smile and reassurances of Kamaria, and felt more confidence slowly swell within her. As the male spoke, she respectfully gave her attention back to him.
He was a strange lion, stern but also seemingly nice. She did nod, keeping her head down a moment in a bow before raising it. Not able to help it, she turned to look at the direction the male had indicated held the den and felt a bit jealous. As a cub, she was on her own to the mercy of strangers because of her foolishness, yet these cubs had loving relatives to protect them. Different lots, but she wished them the best even if they were in the best situation. Unsure what to say, she stayed silent and looked to Kamaria to follow her lead in all of this.
Looking back to the waters, she pondered over this Davy Jones fellow and walked a few inches closer to the water to sniff as if that would tell her anything. Putting her left forepaw down into the sand, she lifted it and saw her paw imprint only to have it erased by the water. The smile cracked through her features as she witnessed the neat action, doing it once more, she reminded herself she wasn't on her own doing whatever she pleased, she was following someone else now and looked to Kamaria to make sure she was still there.

"Aye lassy feel free ta take a few of the seas gifts away wit ye. Tha sea brings it's bounty to shore to help us, jus' remember she may ask ye to pay 'er back one day." He chuckled softly slipping back to his resting spot amongst the trees to oversee the females expedition. He would watch until they left then return to his family.

Kamaria was glad the male would allow her to take some gifts from the sea. If they never returned to the beautiful landscape, she could always look to her shells and remember how the lands aided her and helped her become a new lioness. Lifting a few shells, Kamaria placed them into a dried leave for safe keeping. Before grabbing the leaf in her mouth, she turned to her friend and smiled, "As much as I hate to leave, I think we should return to Roho."
A part of Kamaria simply wished to join her friend, play in the waves and remain where they were without a care in the world, but Roho rather disliked the place and they now travelled as a group. Picking up the leaf, Kamaria began their trek back towards their friend so they may continue their travels.
