When Tiki's pounce missed, he managed to stay on his feet and with only minor wobbling this time. He still didn't care if his brother went and told their mother on him, it didn't seem like a bad trade off to him, if Tiki could just get Kinya back for laughing like that! He was startled when Kinya suddenly ran off after a beetle, and Tiki had to pause and wonder why Kinya was so angry and fierce in this.
He still did not doubt his brother's story, yet.
As Tiki watched Kin, he decided very quickly that he would join in- then if he managed to catch the bug, he too would have that victory! With a toothy grin, Tiki watched Kinya and the beetle, waiting for the best time to join in. He joined in the chase, going to opposite way of both the lion and beetle. If he didn't get the bug, he was definitely in Kinya's way. With a jump, he reached out to try to get his paws over the bug- and amazingly, he did, however awkwardly. But it was exactly that- awkward. He didn't really have a good hold on the beetle, in truth he only had maybe half of it under one of his paws- and it was not a good half, because almost immediately he had to jump back and remove his paw.
"It bit me!" he cried, glaring at it as it went off again. It felt like a bite to him, anyway. In total, he'd barely had it "pinned" for more than a second.

"You're supposed to kill it! That's what you do when you're hunting. You don't let the stupid thing bite you in return!" A silly little pout graced his features, and he hunched over slightly, still sourly looking at his little brother. It was clear that he was upset, mainly because Tiki had just outshined him... and there was nothing he could do about it. He had not been able to catch the beetle the first time around, and now it was stuck back in its hole and was unlikely to ever come out, especially to be captured by a silly little cub. Kinya had lost his chance to show up his brother, and he wasn't happy about that. His whole body posture screamed 'moody', and he hadn't even reached his adolescent years yet!
Turning his gaze away from his brother, he suddenly spied the big rock that Tiki had been unable to climb. If he could climb it... perhaps maybe then he would be better then his brother! Determination brightened his eyes, and standing up he walked away from his brother without another word spoken. He approached the rock, sizing it up before he began to circle it, looking for the side that would make it easiest for him to climb up on. Finding the spot which he deemed perfect, he backed up, and pouncing at the rock he clung to its side. Using all the muscles in his legs, he propelled himself up... and up... and up... and to the...
TOP!
"HAH! Silly rock!"

"Yeah, but the bug is less likely to think I deserve a bite than someone who killed it," he declared loudly, sticking out his tongue again. It made perfect sense to him, if a bug was picking and choosing who deserved to be bitten, a bug-murderer was a better choice than someone just playing. Tiki was more than willing to let himself and Kin think that he wouldn't have killed it if he had gotten it, but whether or not that was true was unknown.
Tiki watched Kin as he went back over to the rock, and as soon as he realized what Kinya was going to do, he glared bitterly. He hardly realized that Kin picked a different side, until he got to the top and Tiki started looking for excuses. He stood back up, and hopped over to get a look.
With a completely serious look, he shook his head.
"Anyone could get up that side," he said, puffing out his chest, "The other side's not so easy, that's why it's so tricky- and the only side worth trying. 'cause not anyone could do it."
Tiki knew if he was to claim victory this time, he'd have to let it finish at that- so he turned around with his nose in the air and went to walk away before Kinya got a good chance to argue back. He wasn't too keen on even hearing whatever his brother had to say, either, so he just walked.

"Bugs don't have brains, stupid. It bit you because you caught it wrongly, no other reason. You did it wrong and you got what you deserved." He was preoccupied, though, with balancing himself on the top of the rock. His victory of conquering the rock was more important then Tiki's whining. He had got bitten by the bug, and Kinya thought he should just get over it and accept that he had done the whole thing completely wrong. Kinya was even thinking that he would rather not catch the bug then do it wrong and get bitten in front of a member of his family. That would be embarrassing, too. Tiki hadn't beaten the bug, the bug had beaten him! Maybe he should have laughed about it... but then Tiki would have tackled him again. That wouldn't be much fun.
"What!?" He was shocked when Tiki suddenly protested to his ability to climb the giant rock. "HEY! You were just not smart enough to go up on this side, and you probably couldn't even do it if you tried!" He was clearly upset that his brother was protesting to his ability to climb the rock as he had protested to his ability to catch the beetle. He was sorely tempted to go tell their mom about Kinya's bad attitude. But mom was such a long distance aways... and Tiki deserved punishment at this very moment.
So, as Tiki turned his back to him and began to walk away, Kinya crouched on top of the rock. He build up the energy in his muscles.. and pounced! Whether he landed on his brother or missed him by a landslide, he wasn't quite sure of at this moment. He just knew that he had to try and get Tiki back for saying such awful things to him!

Tiki was hardly concerned with the bug bite anymore, and it was only because of Kinya's reaction to him almost catching it that he counted it as catching at all. He would be willing to argue that fact, and he'd deny whining at all- he'd been hurt, he said ouch, Kinya started saying he deserved to be bitten and Tiki argued back. It was as simple as that! The cub completely ignored everything his brother said, from bugs not having brains to suggesting something similar about Tiki.
However, a pounce was hard to ignore. Kinya hit his target, though it was not a perfect bullseye, hitting mostly one side of Tiki. With an unpleasant twist and cracking sound, Tiki hit the ground with a startled cub-like snarl. From higher up, the pounce was even more awkward when landed than one from the ground. Thoroughly displeased, Tiki managed to roll away from the wherever his brother landed- a dull ache in one of his front legs where it had twisted funnily. It was far from serious, though.
"Hey!" he snapped, but had no good comeback this time and only paused before adding, "I-I'm telling!"
