Acronym or SMS language

Recently, I have been thinking about the difference between an Acronym and SMS language.
First, let's find out which is which through definition.

Acronym
[ak-ruh-nim]
–noun
1. a word formed from the initial letters or groups of letters of words in a set phrase or series of words,
as Wac from Women's Army Corps, OPEC from Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries,
or loran from long-range navigation.



SMS language

(also known as chatspeak, txt, txtspk, texting language or txt talk) SMS language is the English language slang used in mobile phone SMS.
It is an abbreviated form of English known as a rebus.
This type of language has been alleged to not obey or follow standard English grammar;
furthermore, the words used in this language can't be found in standard dictionaries.

I'd say it's an acronym, that's been created through chat speak. Like brb (be right back) or cba (can't be arsed) etc. Because in technicallity, it stands for a group of words. Yet, it's used and often classified as chat speak.
