Kimanda appreciated Kitambi slowing down for him. Not that he'd admit it. But he beat harder when the cub told him too, trying to keep his Rhythm going. It was hard, trying to organize all that in his head! He'd never done anything so complicated in his life. Especially where he was a fleet-footed animal... He had to take a few rounds to readjust, but he tried to really join in with the whole song now, verses and all. Please let this be right.
"Like this?" he called to Kitambi, the beat of the drums ringing in his ears. Please, don't let her verbally assault him again. His pride could only handle so much. He began to hit a little harder just in case, trying even harder not to let it throw of his Rhythm. He had to adapt. It was just like a change of terrain while he was hunting; he just had to adapt.
He could do that.

Kitambi nodded her head to his question, pleased by his progress. He had finally been able to get the hang of the verses, which was no easy task. She had picked a simple song, that much was true, but the drum beat was more complex than any of the learning beats. The fact that he had managed to pick up a song rather than a drum lesson was quite impressive. Perhaps he would show his true colours when they actually started to dance.
"That wasn't too bad. You certainly adapted to the drums pretty quickly." There. She had given him a compliment. That hadn't been half as bad as she expected it to be. Huh. "That's all I'll teach you today. Meet me tomorrow by Lake Victoria, and we'll work on your dancing." With that, Kimanda's "teacher" turning and set off towards the dens. She needed a nap after all this work!
