Nintendo: No Smash Bros planned before July '08

Smash Bros. Brawl release slips again. It's wrist-slitting time

Its good news that Mario Kart Wii is still on track, but where the hell is Super Smash Bros. Brawl. on Nintendo's early 2008 release schedule, which turned up this morning?

Nowhere, that's where. And Nintendo UK has confirmed to CVG that this is because it's currently not planned to come out in the first half of next year, despite previous release fixtures.

In Nintendo's words: "[Super Smash Bros. Brawl] is currently not planned for a release in Q1 or Q2 next year."

It was expected out before Christmas. Then it was shortly after Christmas. Now it appears we're not likely to get our Brawl on before July. Damn it!

Nintendo has not offered any reasoning whatsoever for the delay. So you'll just have to wait.

... I think it's safe to say that SSBB is following the same lead that Halo did. Then again, SSBB has a lot to surpass in comparison to it's Gamecube cousin, SSBM.
We'll probably find out why by tomorrow.
