so im planning on getting the pets expansion pack soon,can my already existing sims get pets or do i have to create more? i think i read somewhere that they can i just want to check...its sims 2 pets....

our existing famileis can get pets but can olnly adopt them. If you make a new family you get to make a dog which ever way you like.

Thats not technically true. Adoption isn't the only way.
If you make a pet on its own in CAS then you can add it to any existing Sim household as well.
