Can a teen sim live alone without a grown up?

I like to start my sim 'trees' off with scenarios... My current one was with a single parent scenario. The parent had the kid late in life, and is now old while the kid is still a child. I found out the hard way (freak fire) that a child cannot live alone no matter how much money was saved. Can a teen? I fear the Mom is getting a little old, and well may kick the bucket a 'final' way.

i THINK on sims 2 they can but im not positive...

Teen Sims can quite happily live on their own without any adults or elders. When you first create them in CAS though they have to have an adult with them.

Yes, they can.
Just make sure they have a job so they can buy food/pay the bills.
