I don't know about you . . .

But the word "READ" pisses me off to type out.

And I will now use examples to illustrate WHY. (Pretend they are - pms or something)

((Ok, in these examples, RED and REED are the two forms of read. And try saying the wrong ones out loud XP ))

The way it can be so confusing :

Right way :

Wrong interpretation :
"Did you red that book for our English assignment? I reed it last night."

The way it can be so confusing :

Right way :
"I will never get this paper red! It is so long! Here, reed it to me!"

Wrong interpretation :
"I will never get this paper reed! It is so long! Here, red it to me!"

Right way :

She is complaining that the past and present tense of "read" are spelled exactly alike and is proposing more phonetically sound spellings.

English isn't really phonetic anyway, and if we decided to change it all of a sudden, it would get really confusing.
