I laugh every time I look at the "20 items or less" signs. I think it is a coping mechanism to deal with the fact that whoever designed those signs was too stupid to write: "20 items or fewer."
What other botched signs have you found? Do they annoy you, sadden you, or humour you?

Poorly Written Sign These doors are covered by surveilance camera's any unauthorised use will be reported to centre management. I quote said sign verbatim. The only punctuation mark in the middle of that sentence (which should actually be two sentences, or at least two clauses) is an incorrectly-used apostrophe.

Whole Foods says fewer! One of the many good things about that supermarket.
I haven't seen any other botched signs but Lynne Truss is full of them.

There was a sign in our public toilet saying: "PLEASE fush when your done."
I acquired a sharpie and corrected the sign, fuming all the way. This sign was made by a sophomore in college.

Even though I agree with its goals, I don't like the name of "one less car" because it should be "one fewer car".

I've seen plenty of funny signs, and plenty of gramatically incorrect ones. They're inevitable, just like death and cheating taxes.

On the topic of using "less" where "fewer" should be used, I've inherited a pile of "one less car" stickers (as well as some others) which I'm supposed to sell, and I find it annoying that the grammatically incorrect "one less car" sticker is the most popular of all the stickers.
I want to print some "one car fewer" stickers and sell those instead, but I'm worried that no one will buy them (and I can't stop selling the incorrect ones because I'd be letting down the people from whom I inherited the stickers).

They corrected that at my local Stop & Shop. Now it says '12 items or fewer'.
