Best club I've ever been too. Who here goes regularly?

History

With the demise of the Batcave, the Gothic punks of London began holding squat parties around the city under the name The Kit Kat Klub. This went on until 1989, when they bought out an industrial factory just outside Angel Station, where the club still resides. It manages to be just dark and dank enough to be an everlasting reminder of the Kit Kat Klub.

The name was chosen because of the disrepair of the building. Limelight, at the time London's premeire club, was making headlines at the time and so the name Slimelight was chosen for this, perhaps the abselote polar opposite of Limelight.

Whats so special?

Slimes is the biggest club of its kind to run weekly. And from 10pm until 7:30am!

It runs a leaniant dresscode policy - Goth, cyber, rivethead, fetish etc clothing welcome, white trainers, baseball caps etc banned, although they are pretty easily swayed if they believe you've come for the music. They also don't check bags, thus it has a reputation as a drug haven.

The bottom floor is the Goth floor. What you'll get down here varies, but generally its darkwave, Goth rock, maybe some punk or death rock.

First floor up is the EBM floor, which is cyber-central. Its been claimed cyber spread from this club, and I imagine that's true.

Top floor is the 'industek' floor, where rivetheads of all ages gather to stomp to noise, industrial, gabba and related genres. Very harsh stuff, not for the faint hearted.

The advantage of this is that they get to devide the crowd and let them explore throughout the night. The death rockers are usually repulsed like garlic by EBM, and the cybers usually have the same reaction to death rock, so when the death rock comes on the cybers can head up a floor, and when the noise floor gets a bit much the rivetheads can go down a floor and stomp to more easy going EBM and industrial. Really, if you can't find what you like here at some point during the night, there is no hope for you.
