With a new family of cubs to look after, Kamaria was more determined than ever to find a home for their group. They had heard many stories of the various prides of the savannah, but for some reason the Bahari'moto always stuck with Kamaria. When she was stranded at the very edges of the pride without hope of life left in her, the lioness was greatly soothed by the magnificent sounds of the waves and the sweet smell to the air. When Roho was in their company it did not seem like a possibility. The male was greatly perturbed by the salty atmosphere, but with him no longer a part of their growing family, Kamaria felt she could finally call the place home. Ten was uncertain about all of this, he followed his new, mate, well she was not quite that yet, but it seemed this was the route they were heading, his eyes shifted from one area to the next as he questioned his surroundings. The grass was slowly giving way to more sandy earth and his heart was instantly taken back to the firekin lands, his not so home. His lungs felt heavy with the way this air tasted and his mind swam, was this really the place for them afterall? Kamaria raved about the ocean, but he could not imagine a body of water larger than a watering hole. He turned to the silver colored female, "This is all so new!"

Tamu had no reason to be so melancholy, nor restless. The Rites were approaching, as was her supposed 'ascension to leadership'. Was it normal to be so frightened of such a thing? Would others be so eager or excited? She imagined maybe one of her siblings might be, but it was she who had been chosen, not her siblings.
The young lioness padded her way around the pride borders, gazing out at the lands that fascinated her and yet teased her - she never knew if she'd get to see them. Her almost inherited curiosity in life meant she just couldn't feel settled in these lands. It was an internal struggle.
As she approached the brow of a sand-dune, she could spy moving figures approaching. With no guard present, she'd have to handle this alone. Flee, fight, or friend...

Hearing the voice of one of her closest friends speak up behind her, Kamaria turned with a smile, "It only gets more incredible." Whenever the lioness spoke of the lands, she held such enthusiasm in her voice. She held her breath as she pressed on in search of the King. She only hoped that they would show the cubs kindness. That was her greatest fear at the moment. Hybrids were thought of as a disgrace in many prides and in the roguelands they were worse off than their full blooded cousins. Senatla's cubs were aware that they were different, but brought up as lions would be.
As she searched out the vast beach that lay before them, Kamaria spotted the form of a white and deep blue lioness. She bore the naturally curly fur that was a trademark of the Bahari lions. While this lioness was clearly not the King, Kamaria hoped that she might point them in the right direction. "Ten, maybe she can help us?" Kamaria spoke, nudging with her head in Tamu's direction.

Aten as he was formerly known did not approve of idea of asking a stranger for directions, it had been only recently within the year that he had asked a strangers help and gotten himself lost within a pride he knew little about. He hesitantly agreed, "Let me ask though, please, you stay back." He spoke firmly but was still a bit shaky on the subject. He did not want any of his traveling companions to be harmed, that was why he, Senalta, and Kam had agreed on the cub and Sen staying back.
Without listening to his companions reply the earthy red lion pushed his walk into a brisk jog towards the female, "We come as friends, cuh-can you help us?" He lowered his head to show that she was the dominant one in this sitution, even if he was as large as most firekins, and probably looked quite silly lowering his head to someone smaller. "I am Ten, my companion is Kamaria." He offered another statement to show he meant no harm.

Uuurgghh, what was the right way to do this again...they bow, so...whats next? Tamu wasn't sure how to acknowledge the two, simply nodding her head as if she couldn't make up her mind.
"..what help do you need?" she asked about as hesitantly as Aten did, emanating an authority born of her position but a naivety from her youth.

Kamaria was taken back when Ten almost demanded to speak to the stranger of the pride. The lioness, so used to being in the lead was reluctant to step down. Before releasing some excuse including 'but I've been here before', the lioness bit her tongue and allowed the male to step forward. As the smaller female watched Ten approach Tamu, she couldn't help but release a smile. She could see now that he had acted as though to protect her. As Kamaria waited for some sort of signal from him, she began to blush.
When Ten began to speak, Kamaria watched adoringly as he stuttered. She put her companions in such awkward situations that she would not have been able to face without them at her side. When Tamu responded kindly, Kamaria quickly made her way to Ten's side. Lowering her own head respectfully, she chimed in, "We are seeking the King. My companions and I wish to join this pride."

Ten nodded his head in a slight bow again and looked up at her trying not to make eye contact. He was strange among new people not wanting to cause them anger or try their patients he had seen a slave beaten for making eye contact and did not want the same for anyone he loved, including himself. He turned slowly trying to keep both females in focus, "I thought I said stay back, in case it wasn't safe." What use was it to tell the dominant female anything.
"Yes, we seek the king, or anyone who can help us with information, Kamaria said she has been here once before, I wanted to know more of these lands, and the ocean." He flashed a week grin, his crimson eyes telling of his fear even if he was taller an seemingly older. She may be small but there is a pride of lions not too far away.

Wow, they were quite forthright. She had to admire them for their bluntness. Most lions she'd met had just stumbled into these lands, looking for refuge or a different pace to life. Now was the moment. If she was to be leader...then surely she could help these lions settle...now, what did her dad do first?
"Well...you're welcome to take a look around the lands if you're here with good intent," she began, trying a smile and forcing herself to be a bit more confident. "We have a peaceful jungle, fresh water, and the bay. The cliffside is...off-limits except to the Malki and Malkia of the pride, but everywhere else is free to roam...I could escort you around if you wished..."

Aten had not meant to seem so straight forward but it was better to ask and receive than beat around the bush and get no where. Kamaria and Senalta had both said they wanted to settle in a pride that would accept the leopardlions, he did not understand the term hybrid, feeling it did not apply. He did not realize this pride was so well equipped with lands, jungle, water, and a bay, what was a bay? He felt stupid and naive but that hardly took priority at the moment, guaranteeing his friend's young's safety was the priority.
"She has been here before, she wished to show me the pride, thank you so much for your warm welcome, I was so worried to come near a pride. If it would not be a problem? We..I at least would love to see some of these great things you speak of, and what is offlimits to us." he looked from Kamaria to Tamu.

Tamu smiled at the pair and was more than willing to act as a guide today. They seemed friendly enough, and as most of the pride were growing up, there was less risk of them posing a threat to youngsters. She was a little curious as to why they would avoid a pride though, and being her usual curious self...well, she asked.
"Why were you cautious to approach a pride?" she asked as she began to lead them to the beach and the bay.

Prepared to participate in the conversation with the lioness, Kamaria was taken by surprise once again by Aten's tone. With her ears lowered, she looked towards the male, unable to express apologies without causing a scene in front of the stranger. She bit her tongue and took a step back, as though to allow him to remain in charge. Kamaria trusted Aten to keep her safe, but also trusted her own instincts.
As Tamu continued to offer guidance, Kamaria simply nodded and kept quiet. There was much more to the lands than she had seen from her short visit! While the ocean had almost fully won her over, thoughts of adventuring through the jungle excited her. A tour sounds nice, she thought with a smile, looking to Aten as though curious as to what he would say.
When Aten mentioned that he was cautious to approach a pride, Kamaria's ears perked back up and she listed carefully to the conversation between the two. She was glad that Tamu asked as she was shy about the subject with her companions. Each of them had been wounded greatly in the past, but none had really expressed much else about the matter.

"I had a run in with an awful pride years ago, it has stayed fresh in my mind that is all, I am cautious, as most rogues should be, but with so many children we need a place to stay and soon, they're large enough to explore and that could cause a problem out in the open," he said calmly, he easily slipped into the overprotective brute category, although he was often laid back he cared too much for his mismatched little family to allow them be hurt in anyway.
He followed Tamu staying just between her and Kamaria as they walked, "The water.." he gasped, never having seen such a thing of beauty, "Where does it all come from?" he sounded completely awed by the sight.

Tamu was surprised at how much this male chose to reveal. In her mind, she had painted a picture of rogues as being secretive types, ones who must learn to trust a new pride, or whom one must be wary of until they proved themselves trustworthy. Aten had just chosen to reveal his fears to her. Was that a sign of trust?
She was still a fairly youthful lioness and paled in size to them both. And yet there was power in her knowledge and her simply being born to these lands. As they dipped into the bay, Tamu became aware that Aten had slowed down to gaze at the waters.
The awe in his voice was perhaps a strange sound to her - it had always been there so it didn't seem so inspiring.
"I doubt we'll ever know. The big water likes to keep some of her mysteries, its what makes it so...beautiful," she answered, with a gentle smile.

Kamaria listened to Aten talk with growing affections. He had become the missing piece to their small family. Had he not been present when Senatla returned with cubs, Kamaria was not sure what might have happened. She was filled with so much anger towards the male that abandoned her sister that she might have taken off in rage in order to find him. With Ten to help smooth things over, Kamaria was able to focus on what was important - their family.
As they began to walk, the spotted lioness made her way towards the male's side. Leaning closer towards him, she spoke in a whisper, "Do not worry so much, Ten. I believe I am safe." Kamaria smiled warmly. While a part of her wanted to walk alongside Tamu and ask a variety of questions, she knew how much this meant to Ten and how much he wished to protect them all. And Kamaria did not mind battling the questions in her mind, because she felt safe in Ten's company.
